Can I ask for those that have been on it awhile, I am on 1mg and honestly between this and illness have barely eaten anything, but was conscious of what others have said about making yourself eat...but...I did this yesterday and made myself eat more food than I have done for weeks and I enjoyed it, but not the overly full/sick feeling I have had for the past 18 hours, so how are people managing to eat a 'reasonable' amount? as what I ate yesterday would still be a small amount to me and has made me feel horrible and it was homemade and relatively healthy stuff.

Mookie81 · 14/01/2024 14:33

I'm finding that I get hungry and fancy food, but can only finish about half of my plate. Husband said why don't I just make less 😂🙄 which makes sense but I'm not used to making smaller portions yet!

SofieM0 · 14/01/2024 16:21

I have been on 1mg for ~3.5 weeks and, for me, the effects lessen over the week. I inject on Friday morning and I can't eat much over the weekend but I'm noticeably more hungry by Wednesday/Thursday, so my food intake balances out.

I have found that I can't eat anything the slightest bit spicy or fatty, and I've had to write off anything too fibrous (raw veg, salad, etc). I also discovered last week that soup no longer agrees with me. I'd assumed it would be more gentle than solid food but it's almost as if, by eating liquid food, I'd tricked my stomach into accepting more than it wanted.

In the long run, you want to make sure you're meeting a baseline calorie target so you're not weak/dizzy/fatigued but for now, take a multivitamin, drink plenty of water and keep your electrolytes up. When you do eat, prioritise protein to ensure you don't lose too much lean muscle. Lidl sells a very affordable ready-to-drink shake with 35g protein in it; it's a pretty small bottle so you don't have to chug down loads of liquid, and it has almost double the protein for half the price of branded ones.

SofieM0 · 15/01/2024 12:17

Great work @Tailfeather 🙌

EweCee · 15/01/2024 12:35

Morning all, it’s been a while since I read this chat. I was doing so well up to just before Christmas (16kg/ 35lbs down since 6th October) when we went away and I didn’t have my injections for 2 weeks; I then got ill on return (gastro, leaving me feeling super skinny 😂) and then finally started back on the injections after 3 weeks off it. Went back to 1mg which was what I’d been on to that point and had worked so well, but am finding now on 2nd 1mg injection that it isn’t suppressing my food noise thoughts as much? Still at same weight so haven’t put on but also haven’t lost any more. I am also not calorie counting which I was doing before as I just feel too hungry to be on 1200 only per day. Anyone else had this experience after a short break off Wegovy?

FattyPattyBumBum · 15/01/2024 13:02

👋 Hi @EweCee congrats on a really good overall loss.
I have left it two weeks before going back onto it when I was ill over Xmas, it is still cutting out food noise (mainly because if I seemingly eat anything I feel sick, so doesn't seem worth it!) but I'm not sure my journey is the ideal one at the moment either, sorry 😔

FattyPattyBumBum · 15/01/2024 13:12

@amusedbush thanks for all the info as to what works for you. I will keep an eye out for the protein drinks in Lidl next time I go, but the thought of it now is enough to make me feel queasy!! I am not eating enough, I know that ☹️ I had stomach ache this morning, didn't feel hungry but hadn't eaten anything since Saturday eve due to being uncomfortable, so I had a cup of coffee and a dry cracker and now my stomach doesn't ache anymore, but I still don't feel hungry and feel that if I try and eat, it will make me feel uncomfortable again 🫤 am not really loving this wegovy journey at the moment, but want to get to healthy weight.

hellsbells99 · 15/01/2024 13:34

I have just been in to my online doctors account to order some repeat medication and found that pharmacy2u has notified them that they are prescribing Wegovy to me. I didn’t realise they would notify my GP.

AhBiscuits · 15/01/2024 13:52

I experienced exactly that @EweCee
Before Christmas and midway through 0.5 my appetite was very suppressed, I was eating tiny portions and didn't even really want those. I took a week off for Christmas and it just hasn't been quite the same since. My first one back seemed to do virtually nothing, my second a bit more suppression. I've opted to stay on 0.5 an extra couple of weeks. I think it's taking time to build back up again.

EweCee · 15/01/2024 14:10

Thanks for responding @FattyPattyBumBum and sorry you've been poorly. My gastro was unpleasant but only lasted a week so went back to the gym today and feeling 💪- I hope you get back to not feeling sick soon.

@AhBiscuitsIt's disappointing isn't it - I hope you are right that it takes a while to build up. Like you 1st week felt nothing, slightly better though this week but nowhere near like before Christmas. Hopefully it will kick in soon enough!

I noticed the same thing when I logged into my GP account last week. I don't mind (it was my GP who recommended that I look into Wegovy) but there are probably loads of people who wanted to keep it quiet and who don't realise that P2U has notified their doctor.

rosiebutterfly · 15/01/2024 19:19

Hi all! Did anyone have this on the lowest dose, this is my second week of 0.25 I took it yesterday and I am absolutely starving! Asif I didn’t take the injection, I can’t do the low calories some are doing and my count so far is 1580 and I am so so so hungry, pretty gutted 😭

Bear in mind that a full dose is 2.4mg, so you may not be effected until then. Most feel it on a lower dose of course but many don't see a reaction to 0.25mg

Thank you I probably need to be patient… it’s going to be a long 3 weeks until I can go up to 0.5 😭

I'm happy with that. Nobody knows I'm taking it, so I had a fear that if I got ill or hit by a bus and rushed to hospital the doctors wouldn't know I was on it!

If you search my username in this thread, I posted a lot about this. 0.25mg did nothing for me so I was bloody starving the whole time, and I ended up moving to 0.5mg a week early. That's not a recommendation and I can't give medical advice but I'm happy to answer questions about my experience.

Btw, I lost weight from day one through calorie counting and I was eating 1600+ a day (and still starving! 😩) so don't worry too much. I'm eating an average of 1200kcal now but only because of the appetite suppression; that is a very low intake which is not sustainable without the help of this medication, and isn't even medically necessary for weight loss.

Stick with it - I promise it will kick in and then your food intake will reduce without even trying. Those first weeks on 0.25 felt soooo long but since moving up, the weeks have flown by. I would happily stay on Wegovy forever.

Striving4Better · 16/01/2024 19:19

Interesting... only Day 2 for me and I've been hungrier today than I was last week!

Yes. I totally agree that we should have more support through the nhs like they get through their insurance in the US, but that wont be happening anytime soon!

Starlightstarbright2 · 16/01/2024 22:25

Yes - I haven’t even bothered contacting Gp . It’s pointless at this time .

FattyPattyBumBum · 17/01/2024 00:23

@Tailfeather @Starlightstarbright2 I watched it and was a bit confused, if they are worried about the long-term effects, why is it FDA approved? I must admit that the ordering via the internet to get it was the thing that put me off a year or so ago, but when you have high street titans like Asda/superdrug/boots putting their names to peddling the product, you kind of assume that it is done in a legit way otherwise any of the drugs ordered via the website would have issues, so why single out wegovy? Maybe I am missing the point. I have been relatively comforted with the boots level of service and have always had responses and when they have been too generic with their responses, they have passed it up to a pharmacist who has replied.
I felt that the checks done on ordering were ok and as well as you had to submit a photo and I was happy for them to tell my doctor...I actually don't think that bit should be optional.
They also provide webinars and emails about what you can do to lose weight in a healthy way and what types of food you should/should not eat.
I wonder what the perceived benefit of the NHS tier three clinic (or whatever they referred to it as) is over the reputable online offerings? Aside from sitting in a room with an actual person?

liz4change · 17/01/2024 07:08

@FattyPattyBumBum I agree that the messages were very confused - I found it telling that while they (quite rightly) highlighted that some pharmacies aren't asking particularly rigorous questions they didn't actually get anyone on camera who said they were using W while at a 'normal' weight. The bit that was there (and clearly stated by two of the medical professionals) is that the government has done f-all to plan for this and ensure access- the subtext being well if you're fat it's your own fault and all the stigma everyone here knows so well. Nor did they say anything about how many taking it are not saying because of fear of mockery.
