Insights into being 60kg (about 9 1/2 st)

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 19/09/2023 14:28

I'm 5ft 4" and my target weight is 60kg, picked because it was slap bang in the middle of the healthy zone for my sex age and height.

Can I ask if you are (or were) 60kg

  1. What dress size do you wear?
  2. Do high heels still hurt your feet?

Thanks

Those two things are totally unrelated!

I have been 60kg, and I wore anything from an 8-12 depending on the shop, and yes high heels still hurt (same as they did when I was 18 years old and weighed 46kg) because I have wide feet and a bunion.

TitInATrance · 19/09/2023 14:35

I am spot on 60kg (5’7”). Dress size 12 or M&S 10. High heels would be OK if not for my bunions and arthritic hip.

thistimelastweek · 19/09/2023 14:39

I'm 5'4" and roughly 60k.
I'm usually size 10 or 12 depending on the make.
Haven't worn heels in years, they kill me.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer. Really helpful.

I'm that weight and 5ft1 tall. I'm a 12 in most shops.
I haven't worn heels for over 10 years but even when I was 50kg they hurt my feet. Unnatural position for the feet and legs does it, not your weight.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 19/09/2023 14:45

yes I always hated heels but had started to wonder if that was just my size. Sounds like they remain evil torture devices to steer clear of.

I am 5ft 4 and when I weighed 60kg I was a small size 10. I dont have a big frame, size 4 in shoes and small hands.

Haven't worn heels in a lpng time.

Quitter23 · 19/09/2023 14:57

That's my height and weight. I'm a size 10.

I very rarely wear high heels, my feet can't cope with that torture.

Chrispackhamspoodle · 19/09/2023 14:59

This is my measurements.I'm between an 8-12 in different shops but I would think of myself as a 10.I usually wear small in M&S and H&M.8 in jeans in M&S.
Who wears heels anymore?

SaltyGod · 19/09/2023 15:04

I’m a bit heavier than that now and a size 10/12, at 60kg I’m a size 8 and it’s probably a bit thin for me at 171cm tall (for my personal preference as it’s still within my healthy weight)

I can wear heals up to 9cm without any pain at all assuming it’s a decent quality shoe. I wouldn’t go much higher as I’m already quite tall.

HowcanIhelp123 · 19/09/2023 15:07

I'm 5ft 7 and even when I was a size 8 I was over 60kg. At 85kg I was a size 12, despite BMI putting me right on the obese border. But I was always 'overweight' from birth, despite people thinking I was too skinny if they saw me 🤷‍♀️

Depends hugely on body shape and composition. Muscle weighs more than fat, muscle and fat will sit differently on different people. Even bone density can have a big impact, especially as you age.

Mirabai · 19/09/2023 15:10

I’m your height - 5’4”, weigh 50kg. Size 8-10. (6 in huge sizes like Boden)

I don’t think weight has much to do with whether your feet hurt.

The key ime - is expensive, well-balanced heels are much more comfortable to wear than cheap ones. I’m not talking about Choos, Blahniks and Louboutins - they’re not comfy however much they cost. I like Robert Clergerie, Joseph Azagury, Pons Quintana.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 19/09/2023 16:03

thanks everyone, you are absolutely right of course @HowcanIhelp123 that it depends on % body fat to muscle along with other factors but the consensus seems to be I'd likely be no more than a 14 more likely 12 or less depending possibly on the shop.

& especial thanks to @Mirabai for pointing out really interesting shoe designers. I may at some stage invest in a pair although the Robert Clergerie seem pretty hard to get hold of.

I'm 5ft 4 and a large frame apple shape. Currently I'm just under 10 stone and mainly wear size 12.

Turtlegurl888 · 19/09/2023 16:46

When I was last 60kg I was about 19/20, so high heels didn't hurt my feet but I'm pretty sure they would now a decade later.
I wore a size 8, sometimes 6, sometimes 10. I am 5ft 9 though.

My ideal weight is around 10 stone.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 19/09/2023 16:53

cool thanks

I'm 57 kilos and 5 foot 9. I wear a 10. Haven't worn heels in years I'm afraid!

Mirabai · 19/09/2023 17:55

I can’t afford any of those shoe designers at full price - check out Yoox.com, BrandAlley, Outnet etc

SirChenjins · 19/09/2023 17:58

I’m five two and that weight - currently a size 10-12. I could do with losing half a stone, things are feeling a bit tight round the middle. My left foot isn’t comfortable in high heels as my big toe joint is a bit swollen. I’m 54, so both probably age related.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 19/09/2023 18:17

@Mirabai yes I will keep an eye out for them.

thanks for sharing everyone it is really interesting to see how it varies

I'm a pear-shaped 5'3" and when I'm 60kg I'm a 10 in most shops. I can wear heels at 67kg, not noticed any difference when I'm lighter

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 19/09/2023 20:12

thanks @Wrapunzel

This was me before pregnancy. Never been able to wear heels!
I think I was a small ten?

60kg at my summer weight (rising to 65kg in winter if I am not careful!). 5ft 5. At 60kg I am a size ten. At 65 I am also a 10 but not as happy as when at 60kg. I have got down to 57-58kg before and been an 8.
