Insights into being 60kg (about 9 1/2 st)

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 19/09/2023 14:28

I'm 5ft 4" and my target weight is 60kg, picked because it was slap bang in the middle of the healthy zone for my sex age and height.

Can I ask if you are (or were) 60kg

  1. What dress size do you wear?
  2. Do high heels still hurt your feet?

Thanks

I'm 5ft 4 and 60kg would be my ideal weight. When I was 58 kg I was a scrawny size 8 and my boobs looked like 2 wombles looking over a wall. I'm now 66kg and a 14. Decent tata's though!

ThreeKneeRepeater · 19/09/2023 21:45

I’m 60k and 5’2”. Size 10.
I bloody love heels but since lockdowns I haven’t had occasion to wear them and they now kill me. Shame as I have a wardrobe full of gorgeous 4” heels.

minipie · 19/09/2023 21:54

I’m 5’3 and about 57kg. Clothes size really depends on the style of clothing. I carry all my weight on my bum thighs and upper arms, hourglass ish, so in a fit and flare dress or wide leg trousers I’m an 8, sometimes a 6. In slim leg trousers however I can only get size 10+ over my thighs and then there’s a massive waist gap.

Yeah, heels hurt. But I just bought some today 🤦‍♀️

roarrfeckingroar · 19/09/2023 22:12

I'm 5"4 and currently 59kg. I'm a size 8 and heels don't hurt my feet. My ideal weight is 53kg but I've not long ago had my second baby.

MrsRandom123 · 19/09/2023 22:24

I’m just under 5”4 & 9 stone. By todays standards and ridiculous vanity sizing i’m finding xxs and size 6 are too big and tend to buy teen clothes but thats fairly recent im normally an 8 or a 6 in shops which had more generous sizes

I can wear heels fine but don’t like them

Spendonsend · 19/09/2023 22:29

I'm 5.5 and 60kg. I wear a 12 from M&S, crew clothing. I cant wear heels

Theroom · 19/09/2023 22:40

63kg here but 5ft 7. I'm a definite pear, so I wear an 8 or 10 in tops, 10 in dresses and 10 or 12 in trousers. Mostly Hobbs / M&S / Next type shops.

TriceratopsRocks · 19/09/2023 22:41

I'm 5'6". When I was 9.5 stone last year I wore size 12 bottoms and 16 tops (I seem a bit of an outlier there - most 14 tops felt too tight for me). I'm currently a lot more, but was happiest at 10.5 stone (14 bottoms) as I found the lower weight too restrictive in terms of what I could/couldn't eat. I haven't worn high heels for 30 years, but when I lost weight my plantar fasciitis went and hasn't returned.

Theroom · 19/09/2023 22:41

Yes, heels still hurt. They hurt when I was young and 7.5st too.

Anewnamea · 19/09/2023 22:44

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 19/09/2023 16:03

thanks everyone, you are absolutely right of course @HowcanIhelp123 that it depends on % body fat to muscle along with other factors but the consensus seems to be I'd likely be no more than a 14 more likely 12 or less depending possibly on the shop.

& especial thanks to @Mirabai for pointing out really interesting shoe designers. I may at some stage invest in a pair although the Robert Clergerie seem pretty hard to get hold of.

I am 5ft 2 and was on average 9.5 stone for most of my adult life and I was a size 6-10. I have a high muscle mass so I didn’t look much bigger than my friend of the same height who was only 8 stone.

I’m not great with heels generally and find them sore after a while at whatever weight I am.

random9876 · 20/09/2023 01:58

I am 5’4, currently 63kg I am a stocky size 10 even now, fat mass fairly low. At 60kg i am lean, but never really an 8 because my thighs and shoulders are too muscular. I am medium build.

Nothing makes heels work for me. I have wide feet and bunions, and have had feet like this my whole adult life! And never been especially overweight.

WellPlaced · 20/09/2023 02:02

I’m 5ft 5 and currently 10st.
My ideal weight is 9st 11ish
At 9 & half I’m too thin I think.

it depends on the heels!

WellPlaced · 20/09/2023 02:04

Currently size 10-12
Usually a solid 10

coxesorangepippin · 20/09/2023 02:06

I'd be a size 10/8 at that weight and heels wouldn't hurt my feet too much

I'm 5'4

soberfabulous · 20/09/2023 05:26

GnTplease i could definitely fit into an 8 but i like my clothes to have a bit of give in them and be comfortable! i don't feel teeny at all, just slim an strong. i work out 4 times a week so am working on building up some muscle at the moment.

i went sugar free 4 weeks ago and that shifted 2 kilos without me trying - wasn't the purpose of it all but it was interesting to see how much the nightly mars bars were adding to my weight!

Goldencup · 20/09/2023 05:45

These are my exact measurements most of the time although I prefer to be 58kg. I have a 26/27 inch waist and wear an 8/10. I do planks every morning and am happy wearing a bikini on the beach. Would only wear heels for a wedding or similar, but used to dance in then all night when I was 21 and 54kg.

I've just turned 60 and got down from 65kg to 60kg. I'm 5'5" (I think!). Don't know about UK sizes but a EU38 (10?). I have lost a cup, down from DD to D.

FannyFifer · 21/09/2023 09:55

I'm 5'4 & I felt I looked far too thin at under 10 stone. I sit comfortably between 10-10 1/2 stone & that puts me a size 8-10 depending on brand etc.

Minikievs · 21/09/2023 10:15

I am 5'7 and 60kg
I am an 8 on top (no boobs!) and 10 in bottom (maybe an 8 bottom in M&S)
I wear heels at work but court type shoes which don't hurt
Wedding/night out heels WRECK my feet. That's either age (mid 40s) or the fact that I had two years off wearing heels during lockdowns etc and I'm out of practice!

HangingByYourFingernails · 21/09/2023 10:28

I'm 5'4" and 62 kg, aiming to get down to 60. I'm a 12 on the bottom (M&S size 10) and 10 on the top (M&S 8).

In well chosen clothes which skim my body I look slim but not thin (for my age), in less well chosen or too-tight clothes I look dumpy.

Heels might or might not hurt if you were at that weight, but it certainly wouldn't be your weight's fault if they did IYSWIM.

Not really sure what the posts from the 5'7"-5'9" people are adding to the OP's enquiry, but to be fair she didn't specify a height range for replies.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 21/09/2023 10:33

thanks @HangingByYourFingernails makes perfect sense about the heels, a couple of people have pointed out that the design and quality of the shoes would make a big difference to how comfortable the shoes were.

I'm 5'5 and 57kg so somewhere near your target I think!

I dress in whatever I'm comfy in. I don't particularly like baggy clothing as it can make me look a bit boxy. I still love to walk in a pair of heels, I don't do it often though.

In the house I normally wear black leggings / gym wear (I do workout, not one of those pretend gym goers who wear it for fashion)

Out and about either leggings, jeans, cargo style trousers. My tops are pretty plain really. I like wearing a baggy T and cycling shorts with a little belt in summer.

Work - black pencil dresses and heels (it's my choice, I don't have to wear it!)

Going out / date nights - normally some sort of dress / co ord. I love wide leg trousers at the moment.

But the most important thing is what you feel comfortable in. What you feel uncomfortable in now may become your new normal at your target weight. Good luck!
