Anyone up for a big fat sort out, starting tomorrow.

Anyone care to join me in a general sort myself out thread.

I am starting tomorrow. I'm a mess, too fat, hair needs sorting, skin care routine needed and a lot more looking after myself.

Not sure of my weight but I'm guessing a good couple of stones needs to go. I have a drawer full of unused beauty products that I can't be bothered to use because I feel like what's the point.

I hate to mention Christmas, but it's 120 days until Christmas Eve. I reckon I could make improvements in that time.

I will weigh myself in the morning and use Mondays as my weigh day.

Morning all. Sounds like you are all making a great start! My scales arrived and I did the dreaded weigh in! Eugh! Now need to figure out a meal plan. I've got very little time and head space for anything complicated and tend to cook what I know the kids will eat which does not involve a vegetable!

Clefable · 29/08/2023 10:00

That's a lot of potatoes!

I'm doing one meal a day IF (OMAD). When I was thinking about the times in my life I was a healthy slim weight, they were times I was unconsciously doing OMAD mostly. I read Delay Don't Deny by Gin Stephens and it resonated a lot; I am not good at counting calories or sticking with long-term restrictions on food, and I like to eat till I'm satisfied. So far it's working out pretty well and I've already lost a bit of weight. Already looking forward to dinner though: chorizo pasta with fruit crumble for afters and a glass of wine 🍷

PodgyMcpodgeface · 29/08/2023 10:03

Can I join. I shall go and step on the scales and see what the damage is. I'm in the same position as you @Lollyblue perimenopausal and somewhere over 13stone. I have a lot of migraines and can only stomach carbs when I have one, so I need a battle plan. I self sabotage and find it hard to get back on track after I've wavered.

PodgyMcpodgeface · 29/08/2023 10:19

I've just weighed and it's worse than I thought 13st 7. Never mind, it won't be that for long. I'm going to make Monday my hopping on the scales day from now on.

Well a massive fail yesterday. Managed to fast till 2 as planned feeling super positive. then message from friends - anyone fancy a quick bank holiday drink. Several hours/bottles/bowls of fries later a big fat fail. Arghhh.

Starting again today.

Socialising is a big problem for me. I never say no.

hope everyone is doing better than me

@Queeniewag it's really difficult to stay on track if socialising. You are doing the right thing and getting back on it today. Good luck.

“Starting tomorrow”

I read this so often. Why not “starting right now”?!

Psychologically it helps, I find! Wake up to a new day and a fresh start.

waytootiredofthis · 29/08/2023 11:15

I'm back on the OMAD, it worked for me for the first stone off! After a few days it becomes normal, and means I can have a decent evening meal which stops the urge to snack at night. I averaged about 1.5lb off a week which I'm more than happy with. I do find it harder in the summer holidays when I'm not working and out and about with the dc. I'm just going to do my best until term starts again. Another benefit to OMAD is that I have more energy and the brain fog lifts.

FuckingHellAdele · 29/08/2023 11:29

May I join in folks? I want to lose 10kg overall

Just got back off holiday, and no gigs etc coming up for a while, so no more excuses. Better food and drink choices, upping the exercise🏋

lastminutewednesday · 29/08/2023 11:39

Morning all. Totally forgot to intermittent fast this morning and managed to have a yoghurt at half seven. Not a good start!
Will low carb today however and stick to the IF tomorrow. What a Wolly.

About to try and get the DSS's off PlayStation and out for a walk with me and the dogs. If not will have to wait til DH gets home from work.

I've ordered some
New skin care schizzle this morning as I like a new start in September anyway but hopefully it will make
Me look less like a corpse.

Hope everyone has a good day Smile

Thank you @Trulee - she is cute and loves it when I am trying to lose weight as we have longer walks!

@Queeniewag I am just the same when socialising, I think my 'off' switch is broken. Just put it behind you and have a great day.

lastminutewednesday · 29/08/2023 11:46

Does anyone else find it harder when the kids are off to be healthy? I mean obvs time wise but also just psychologically-I feel like if they are on holiday then I should be on holiday which usually means eating like Henry 8th at a feast and lying around.
I'm actually wfh so not on holiday in any way at all!
I'm looking forward to them going back in more ways than one!

Clefable · 29/08/2023 11:57

I'm at soft play nursing a Diet Coke while the kids devour their lunchboxes! I'm not actually hungry as my body has adjusted quite well to OMAD but it's still an adjustment as I used to always buy a panini and chips and a cake when here and a hot choc with marshmallows 🙈 At least I'll save money too!

Lollyblue · 29/08/2023 12:12

Ye @PodgyMcpodgeface I feel your pain. I’m also getting a lot of migraines but am finding the hot flushes worse. It’s affecting my sleep too, can never get comfy.

Hi
I'd like to join.
Heaviest I've ever been. I take sertraline for anxiety which have really helped with that.
However - it has caused my appetite to increase. I feel stuck cos I don't want to stop the medication but getting bigger is getting me down.
Hopefully I can get in control of this x

I'm also on sertraline and in the same situation as you. It's made me feel so much better but appetite massive, and scared of stopping them. Stopping the meds is 100% not the solution for me.

So, day 1 for me.

I always find that what helps for me is if I push breakfast as late as possible - if all my meals are pushed back a little, it's easier not to snack later in the evening.

My job involves making short videos, then uploading them, but the system won't let me do anything else while they're uploading (I'm posting this in between videos). I usually scroll on social media while I'm waiting, it takes between 30 secs and 4 minutes depending on how lazy the system's being. So I'm going to get up and jog on the spot during each upload.

Not amazing but better than nothing, and it's a start.

Good luck everyone. I really hope I can tell the different before Christmas!

DearRose · 29/08/2023 12:55

Was just wondering how often you're all planning to weigh yourselves? I don't know whether to do it daily or wait a few days between.

Would it help if we shared what we've eaten each day? To get ideas?

What exercise will people be doing? I think I am going to wait until next month and then start running (sorry to the poster who said why wait until tomorrow? 😂).

I'm trying to stack up better habits and progress slowly to help them stick. I gave up drinking around a month ago, this month it's eating better and trying to lose a little weight, so I think I'll start exercising regularly next month. While also not drinking and eating well too of course.

...haha the potato diet. I like the sound of it. Actually potatoes would probably be my choice if I could only eat one thing ever again.

All OK here for day 2 of not eating vast quantities of chocolate and crisps.

A personal trainer I know suggests weighing every day due to natural fluctuations, hormones etc but when I went to slimming world this was a big no no - I think as possibly demotivating/becomes an obsession? I find weighing every day helps keep me more focused and I've been doing that for the last few weeks. It's interesting to see how much weight varies when not dieting.

JumpingGrassHopper · 29/08/2023 13:22

I weigh myself daily. Though I wouldn't recommend that. It can mess with your mindset. I think I'm addicted to stepping on the scales.
My official weigh in day where I record it on my app will be Monday.

So far today I've had a coffee, 2 glasses of water, some grapes, mentos, a protein bar and a yoghurt.

I have snack a jacks and may have a shake for tea.

I'm trying to work out how much money I usually waste on food each week as I want to put it into a different account.

I'm thinking of trying to put away at least £20 a week that I stay on track. Then I can spend that on my nails, or clothes or anything enjoyable that is not food related.

I'm at the theatre on Thursday so will allow myself a drink or 2, but I'm hoping they have some soft of sugar free pop like coke.

Trulee · 29/08/2023 13:42

I had planned to weigh daily too. I forgot this morning though.

15st7lb is my starting weight. My BMI is 39, so bordering on morbidly obese.

Kick up the arse I needed.

DearRose · 29/08/2023 15:31

Thanks everyone.

I think I might start off daily to make sure just cutting out snacks and alcohol will actually result in weight loss, and then switch to every few days.

Currently have a growly stomach and a headache (sugar withdrawal? I eat so much sugary crap)... So hopefully that's a sign it's going to work hahah!
