Athena51 · 19/08/2023 10:19

Checking in. I have a pen left but I'm tapering off. On 0.25 now, still losing and feeling fine.
I'm just back from a 45 minute spin class, my first in years and it was great, I survived! I couldn't have done that 7 stone ago.
I booked some nutritional and lifestyle coaching to support me going forward and make sure that my good habits stick.
I also have that unused pen in the fridge just in case!!!

Diedre44 · 19/08/2023 10:36

I found these in Home Bargains this week.
Might not be suitable for everyone £4.99.

@Peridot1 let's hope the biotin helps our thinning hair x

Diedre44 · 19/08/2023 12:21

I'm officially the lightest I've been since 2007. I could have cried this morning. I'm so overjoyed. I don't know what to do with myself. I've been rattling around the house kind of shaking my head in disbelief. All these years back and forth to fat fighters, the years of losing a lb here and there, gaining 3lb one week, lose another lb the next made to feel like shite by the "leader" what a load of balls. I know I've got a good way to go but I'm so proud. Others might dismiss Ozempic as lazy but I'm so thankful I can access it and have the means to do so. I'm 45 in October if I get to 15st by then that would make me lightest in 25 years. What a feat. 🎉🎉

@Athena51 - that’s amazing. To still lose on 0.25. You have done so well. By being a super responder which I am envious of but mainly by the life style changes and attitude. Congrats on the spinning! I did spinning a few years ago when I was much heavier and loved it. I have actually now finally joined a local gym and start on Monday. Have three session with a PT and am planning spinning classes alongside weights and Body Balance.

@Diedre44 - well done! Fab result. I can well imagine you have a big grin and also the emotion involved.

@SarahC50 - I have started using Plantur shampoo and conditioner too. Hoping that helps.

Zempy · 19/08/2023 12:58

Well done @Diedre44 that is amazing.

I have a good friend who had WLS in July and I lost more than her this past month 😍

I am going to stick with 0.25 as long as I can. So far it’s 13 pounds loss in four weeks which has surpassed all my expectations.

Kfjsjdbd · 19/08/2023 14:12

Incredible stories here. Im the lightest I’ve been in 20 years. It’s just incredible and I feel amazing.

Athena51 · 19/08/2023 14:50

@Peridot1 thank you, it felt exhilarating to be fit enough to do a 45 minute spin class (with my arthritic knee as well!). I'm sure it will be great for you to be back at the gym. I find that exercise really helps to regulate my eating as I'm someone who's appetite is suppressed by it rather than being hungry and I'm less likely to want to eat crap food.
I'm so thankful for having had this chance and I know it's there if I need it in the future.

UsernameFail · 19/08/2023 15:35

Huge congrats to you @Diedre44 !! What a result. You must be over the moon

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 19/08/2023 16:31

@Peridot1 and @SarahC50 thanks for the tip on that lady, I will follow her too.
Biotin: I started taking 300ug in May (Holland & Barret) and doubled the dose in July since I read somewhere that too strong a dose at the beginning can cause side effects like skin rashes. So far so good.

WeightInLine · 19/08/2023 18:40

Saggy skin and VPL!

I’m not complaining - I am pleased to have lost weight - but omg the lines. My skin is so soft that any elastic is cutting right in. I’m exercising but it feels as though the skin has nowhere to go and is pooling (bleurgh).

HolidayHappy123 · 19/08/2023 23:27

Are the shortages starting to ease? I had a prescription for 6 x 1mg (to allow me to build up to 1.5mg or 2mg if needed) and my pharmacist was able to give me 3 yesterday.

I'm starting again after horrendous food poisoning so only on week 2 of 0.25 and it's making no difference whatsoever.

Diedre44 · 18/08/2023 09:33

Update from quick meds this morning saying Wegovy will be available in 2-4 weeks 👀👀👀👀👀 this space.

This is exciting news Glitterball will spur me on!

Diedre44 · 21/08/2023 10:43

So this is how much hair has come out this morning. Is this more or less than others?
It's not all damaged hair, I can see the follicle bulbs. I know the biotin will take a while to make any difference but it's still alarming.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 21/08/2023 10:53

Apparently it is normal to lose between 50 and 100 hairs a day.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 21/08/2023 10:55

About the same here. I also notice it falling out all day long. Trying vitamins.

Peridot1 · 21/08/2023 11:25

That does look like a lot @Diedre44. But I think weight loss will do that. And I think some times I seem to get more falling out than others. Say if I haven’t really brushed it for a bit I’ll get loads coming out next time I give it a good brush or comb conditioner through in the shower.

Athena51 · 21/08/2023 16:32

As of this morning I am the lowest weight I've been since 2016/17 and I'm getting back to my best level of strength and fitness.

I have 2 and half lbs to go until my 7 stone loss, just over two stone to my goal weight.

Only on 0.25 now, I have no idea if it's having any effect or it's just a placebo at this point and I am eating more but that's deliberate as I am very active now.

I'm a post menopausal woman who was just over 20 stone with a BMI of 44. I'm now 13 st 4.5lbs with a BMI of 29. I heavy weight train 4 times a week, I do yoga everyday and I've just taken up spin classes again (even with my arthritic knee!)

I have to carry on losing while gradually coming off Ozempic (I have a pen in reserve just in case!) but I'm starting some one-to-one nutrition coaching to help with that and make sure that it doesn't start coming back on - I can't do this again.

Ozempic enabled me to tackle my food issues and change my habits by giving me breathing space from the food chatter and letting me create a big deficit to get the initial weight off quickly. I'm grateful, very, very grateful. The support here is wonderful too.

Peridot1 · 21/08/2023 17:13

@Athena51 - that is fabulous. You are an inspiration. I knows Ozempic played a big part but you have really put the effort in alongside it. The health benefits to you are huge.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 21/08/2023 17:47

@Diedre44 it doesn't look like that much to me, also is your hair about shoulder length? Longer hairs look like more hair iyswim. My trusted hairdresser said losing up to 150 strands a day is normal. Try Omega3, a good multivitamin and biotin.

@Athena51 Congratulations, that's amazing. I feel the same: I'm never going back to the "life" I had and am quite happy to think about my calorie intake for the rest of my life. 0.25 had an almost over night effect on me, no placebo effect could explain the changes, and in hindsight I could have stayed on that dose for a lot longer.

WhyDoesItAlways · 21/08/2023 18:23

I'm in Mexico at the moment and they sell rybelsus over the counter in souvenir shops. There are also signs for ozempic so assuming they have that too but kept (hopefully) in a fridge somewhere! Just so surprising to see it being sold so easily.

@athena51 that's a great loss, well done!

MotherofTerriers · 21/08/2023 18:33

That's interesting, I'm planning a trip to Mexico and wondered if it was more easily available/cheaper there

KateWick · 21/08/2023 19:50

@WhyDoesItAlways Bring some souvenirs home for us! Kidding of course but have a great time.

@Diedre44 I was my hair 1-2x a week and easily get that much coming out in the bath. I’m taking biotin and collagen and it helps a lot.

It was between $160 and $280ish USD for rybelsus, not sure about Oz. I was nervous about buying off an online pharmacy in the UK, definitely don't trust souvenir shops in mex!

I love Mexico, have a great time when you go.
