Hi all.

I am due to take my fourth 0.25 this Thursday and will be four weeks in at that point. I must be a “super responder” as I have already lost 11 pounds, going from 13:1 to 12:4.

I am planning to do an additional two weeks at 0.25 from my first pen, and have a 0.5 pen in the fridge.

Bearing in mind my response so far, do you think I should pay stick to 0.25 as long as possible? I can afford the £300 odd quid for a 1mg pen once the 0.5 is finished, but they might not even be available, and I would rather put the money towards a holiday!!

I hope this makes sense. Just looking for advice from those who may have started out like me so will be well placed to advise

TheGoodEnoughWife · 15/08/2023 21:26

As long as 0.25 is working then I would stick with that. I did six weeks of 0.25 and lost all through that time.

(Also the 0.25 pen has eight doses of 0.25 so 6 x 0.25 and 1 x 0.5 is what I used my first pen for)

TheGoodEnoughWife · 15/08/2023 21:28

Lol actually just looked back and I did 4 x 0.25 and 2 x 0.5 from first pen. My mistake.

However with shortages I would stick to low as long as possible if I was starting now.

Zempy · 15/08/2023 21:31

Thanks @TheGoodEnoughWife .

I think I started at a stupid time, but it’s working so brilliantly for me. You are right, it’s worth making the additional effort as and when the effects start to wear off, rather than jumping up 0.5 before I need to.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 15/08/2023 23:51

Hi @Zempy I stayed on 0.25 for six weeks, in hindsight I could have probably stayed on that dose for longer because I'm a super responder too. But I didn't foresee the shortages back then. I only went up to 0.5 because I thought I should. I then stayed on 0.5 for 11 weeks, it worked really well and it was obvious to me when I needed to up the dose to 0.75 (simply feeling hungrier, and my main side effect mild constipation decreasing).

Whatsherusername · 16/08/2023 00:49

I've done 12 weeks of 0.25 so far and have lost 20lb, i also had 3 weeks away in the middle of that where i maintained as we ate out a fair bit. I am staying on the smallest dose possible as long as it controls my blood sugars and I'm losing weight. Although i have a lot to lose though

DrMadelineMaxwell · 16/08/2023 07:40

I'm on 0.5 and stayed on that even when they upped me to the 1mg pen. The side effects I bad the one time I went to 0.75 were unpleasant and my appetite and cravings are suppressed at that dose.

I really wish I hadnt dithered about starting it or not at the beginning when it was available easily and when it was a lot cheaper!

Jumping on the new thread. Am 2 stone down and so happy.

Anyone else had an email from Juniper saying that Wegovy will be available soon?

UsernameFail · 16/08/2023 19:15

Yes I've just received the email from MyJuniper too!

Fingers crossed it is coming soon.

Well done on your weight loss

parentaldramas · 17/08/2023 15:09

Hi! I'm new here, got a prescription from my doc to deal with PCOS-related weight gain.

I'm starting on 0.25 and he showed me how to do the "clicks" etc. - but I feel like such an idiot because I didn't realise I had to take both covers off the needle! So I attempted to inject 2x without actually injecting...

Third time I actually injected lol, but there were still a few droplets coming out of the needle. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? And how can I be 100% sure that I've injected everything?

nebulae · 17/08/2023 15:38

@parentaldramas it's normal to have a couple of drops of liquid on the needle after injecting, so don't worry.

And you're not an idiot. It's considered a rite of passage to muck up your first injection and/or stab yourself in the thumb while attempting to put the needle in the sharps bin. Welcome on board.

somethinghastochangesoon · 17/08/2023 18:37

I've been on 0.5 for three months only just getting hungry and have wine.

I'm starting 1mg next week.

I've lost 2 stone in just over two months.

Hoping I don't feel sick with the new dose.

somethinghastochangesoon · 17/08/2023 18:39

I've been ordering from my bmi. £329 for 1mg for one pen.

Awful prices

somethinghastochangesoon · 17/08/2023 18:40

Is wegovy better than semaglitudte.

Losinglotsofweight · 17/08/2023 18:48

I take ozempic for my diabetes. (1mg a week). It’s brought my sugars down a lot and the diabetic nurse thinks it should start to help me lose weight now by body isn’t spending lots of time burning sugar.

Any tips on weight loss? What do you eat/not eat? Do you fast alongside it?

TheGoodEnoughWife · 17/08/2023 18:49

Wegovy IS semiglutide. It's just the brand name same as Ozempic.

Wegovy comes in higher doses than Ozempic though. Not that I would want higher doses - have lost nearly four stone in nearly five months having max 1mg.

SarahC50 · 17/08/2023 18:53

Thankyou for the new thread.

I'm five months in and nearly two stone off, been very slow and steady as I have other health issues. I'm on 0.75mg but move next month to 0.5. My weight loss has stalled for four weeks.

Yesterday I nearly paid £300 for 1mg on right tangled but had to have a word with myself it's just too expensive.

I worry the wegovy will be too high a dose for me to tolerate due to side effect x

I had this worry about Wegovy too (I'm still on 0.5, lost over 30lbs in 3.5 months) because I kept seeing refs to the 2.5g dose.

But - apparently it starts at 0.25 (the same as Ozempic) just goes up to a higher dose for those that need it.

egowise · 17/08/2023 19:04

Thanks for the new thread! I wondered where we had gone!

I was away AI last week, 5 days. Didn't take my jab, and I stayed the same for the 5 days. And lost 3lb within a few days of being back! And I did not deprive myself. But I tend to eat better on holiday haha, but I'm surprised the many MANY good cocktails didn't detail me!

So I am very pleased. 25lbs gone altogether!

I'm staying on .25 mostly due to cost, as it's still working I'm happy to stay.

Zempy · 17/08/2023 20:01

@egowise that is interesting. I go on a four night break in a couple of weeks. Nobody I am going with knows I have been taking Ozempic but they do know I have been dieting (what’s new eh?)

I was worried that if I didn’t take my jab, I might lose my mind and end up head first in a bowl of profiteroles or something. And if I do take it, it will be immediately apparent there’s something amiss, as these people have known me for a long time, and they know I love my food

So you didn’t have an extreme reaction either way? That sounds ideal.

I haven't had many side effects at all.

Tiredness first day after, some dodgy burps in the early days, and some very mild tummy troubles.

Had none of it on holiday. I don't know if I'm an outlier rather than the norm.

And I had cake, I just didn't want every cake available 🤣 was very selective! And LOTS of baklava!

I went for dinner with friends early on, when I was unable to finish a meal, said I was on other medication that caused food issues. They bought that fine, so maybe do the same if you still want to take it?

parentaldramas · 17/08/2023 22:07

@nebulae thank you! That makes me feel much better!

parentaldramas · 17/08/2023 22:10

Sorry if this has been asked already, but has anyone bought a portable travel fridge? We are going away for 4 weeks and traveling by car - going to a part of Europe where it will be quite hot!

Diedre44 · 18/08/2023 06:10

Thanks for new thread @DrMadelineMaxwell
Place Marking.

gingerbubs · 18/08/2023 06:48

I'm finally overweight 🥳😆. BMI down from just over 36 to 29.6. I might dig through my clothes again this weekend and start to get rid of some larger ones and hopefully rediscover some that haven't fit for a few years. 2 stone to go until the healthy weight range.
