@gingerbubs congratulations that is just fabulous. New clothes sounds fab xx

SarahC50 · 18/08/2023 09:26

@TheWayOfTheWorld that's interesting about wegovy. I've not read anything about the cost. I'd quite like to stay on a low dose for maintenance if I ever get to goal weight. I hope it's out soon as in a few months my ozempic runs out and I'd like to meet be to wegovy to continue to lose x

Diedre44 · 18/08/2023 09:33

Update from quick meds this morning saying Wegovy will be available in 2-4 weeks 👀👀👀👀👀 this space.

Peridot1 · 18/08/2023 09:43

Well done @gingerbubs! It’s a great feeling isn’t it?

I will believe that when I see it @Diedre44! Really hope so though!

Kfjsjdbd · 18/08/2023 09:45

I would love that @Diedre44

TheGoodEnoughWife · 18/08/2023 09:50

@gingerbubs that is excellent! Well done. Getting to be overweight is my next goal (maybe 2-3lbs to go!)

Diedre44 · 18/08/2023 10:23

I am sceptical too however - I got a strange email from one of the places I've ordered from previously yesterday.
Basically saying that as I was "responding so well to treatment" they wanted to give me the opportunity to purchase 2 pens together at a discounted rate. I haven't as I've just ordered last week. They did ask me not to "share" the information so I won't say which place, even though I have no loyalty to any company I choose to buy from. I did out of interest go through the process hoping they might be offering 1mg but still out of stock with them. I don't know how they know I'm "responding so well to treatment" as I haven't ordered from them in over 8 weeks🤔
Be interesting to know if anyone else had anything similar... Makes your brain tick.

MotherofTerriers · 18/08/2023 12:20

Interesting, I've been with quickmeds but not had a Wegovy update from them
I've got enough of a stash to last a little while, so I'm not sure whether to buy another 1mg from rightangled at £300 when they are next in stock or hold out for Wegovy. Hope Wegovy will be cheaper when it arrives!

UsernameFail · 18/08/2023 12:35

Congrats @gingerbubs on your achievement!

Interesting re email offering to purchase two pens. I think I said before that HealthExpress was offering two pens too (although it came up out of stock once you go there) but I wonder if they know prices will come down and this they're trying to flog it all now and recoup their losses.

Of course this is just me with my wishful thinking

The wegovy update was on the WhatsApp group

nebulae · 18/08/2023 12:54

@egowise do you have a link to the Quickmeds whatsapp group?

MotherofTerriers · 18/08/2023 13:15

I've communicated with Quickmeds via whatsapp but haven't seen a group there

I'm trying but I'm not very tech savvy haha

nebulae · 18/08/2023 13:29

@egowise 😊

How did you come across the group in the first place? Did they send you a link via email or something?

A thread on here. Might have been the previous one to this

nebulae · 18/08/2023 13:48

@egowise thanks, I'll see if I can find it.

Lavendersquare · 18/08/2023 15:38

Just thought I'd share a conversation I overheard today at the chemist. The pharmacist was talking to a customer about a diabetic medication and said that the customer should ask to go back on ozempic as that is relatively easy to get hold of now and the stock issues have been resolved.

Not sure if this is because they have clamped down on private prescriptions but I thought it did at least sound positive.

On another note, I'm celebrating hitting 2.5 stone lost since 1 March, which feels amazing 🎉

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 18/08/2023 17:37

Great to hear everyone's news. This thread is lovely.
@gingerbubs hooray for overweight!
I did some "wardrobe shopping" at home last night and it's an amazing feeling to try on nice stuff I haven't been able to wear for 10 years.
Fingers crossed I MIGHT be able to get to 'normal weight' in the next two-three weeks.
I was a bit worried about hair loss since I've been in extreme calorie deficit (already have fine thinning menopause hair with some very thin patches) , but have been taking HRT + supplements religiously. Saw my hairdresser today who didn't think it was anything out of the ordinary. Just that my hair is a bit longer now so I notice loose hairs more. She said losing 100-150 hairs/day is normal.
My apron belly is real, but it is what it is. Also loose crepey skin on the neck, but creams do seem to help a bit.

gingerbubs · 19/08/2023 07:59

Thanks everyone. And @VanellopeVonSchweetz99 - that's amazing!
It's so encouraging to hear everyone's progress.
Fingers crossed wegovy may be available sooner than expected though I'm not really holding my breath for it being much cheaper on the private market.

Peridot1 · 19/08/2023 08:15

@VanellopeVonSchweetz99 - I’ve definitely lost hair too. And on top of the menopause thinning! I’m following an instagram account of an American woman who is on semaglutide and has lost around 80 pounds and she recommended Nioxin for the hair loss. Shampoo and conditioner. She stopped using it for a bit and the hair loss started again so she’s back on it. She also recommends shampooing twice.

Her account is cgoofme. She is worth a follow for anyone who uses Instagram.

And I definitely am saggier in the neck. And arms.

Diedre44 · 19/08/2023 08:59

I've woken up this morning to my stomach actually growling hungry. It's the weirdest feeling. I have not had a rumbling tum at all since I started jabs back in March. Had 0.5mg on Thursday. I'm currently spreading.0.75mg over 8 days to eek out pens so not due until Monday again. I'm thinking this is a definite sign need to up my dose. Still have 7st to lose.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 19/08/2023 09:08

Don't be too scared of the rumbling tummy (I've had this too) - I had the same thoughts but then I've discovered that I feel full very quickly when I have something to eat.

Peridot1 · 19/08/2023 09:25

I wake up in the night with a rumbling tummy sometimes @Diedre44. Just make sure you are having enough protein. I wanted to combine intermittent fasting with Ozempic but I wake up hungry. I think it’s because it works on blood sugar not just appetite suppression so my blood sugar drops overnight and I wake up hungry. I also find I eat less at my evening meal which probably also contributes to the blood sugar drop and hunger in the morning.

SarahC50 · 19/08/2023 09:57

@Peridot1 I follow that lady on ig too and find her really sensible and informative.

My already thin hair is coming out in handfuls and my weight loss has been very slow and steady. I was thinking of trying biotin x

Peridot1 · 19/08/2023 10:09

@SarahC50 - I have biotin but haven’t started taking it yet! Must hunt it out. I was taking Viviscal and it did help. But it’s expensive and I had some other hair vitamins to try. But I haven’t been consistent in taking them as I was with the Vivisca.

Just noticed the name of the Instagram lady is wrong. It’s cgoofme. I did type that! Hope it comes out properly this time.
