@MotherofTerriers - are you type 1 or 2? Obviously as semaglutide works on blood sugars/insulin they would have to be careful prescribing and it may be worth discussing with your gp?

DrMadelineMaxwell · 21/10/2023 09:04

I did lola. It just said cancelled so I hopped on love chat and they could only say it must be down to supply issues.

I've got a few more weeks left in my current one so I will see how I go getting another, but they took payment and then said it might be 28 days before the refund comes through which isnt great.

Was looking at Boots to switch from Ozempic, but they only seem to want to offer Oristat.

So thanks to someone mentioning Asda, I'm trying there. Good prices too!

Did you hear back from them? Did they confirm/ dispatch? I just ordered from Asda. Asked for 1.7 (same price as I paid for a bleedin .25 with extra needles from Juniper this month). Waiting with baited breath for the next 24 hrs....
I think the losses slow as you reach your target. I am averaging 2lbs a week now. I do go up a lb and down a lb in that week. I'm hoping if I can get this pen now it will do me till Christmas. I will taper off in the new year. Still have 8lbs to reach my target.
3st2lb total loss since end of Feb.

WhyDoesItAlways · 21/10/2023 09:37

I injected my last dose of ozempic last night (had a few pens stocked up during the shortages) so officially have none left.

Ordered from boots and got approval on Tuesday but not heard anything since. How long does it take them to deliver to the pharmacy? Juniper are due to take payment from me on Monday but I'm scared to cancel just in case!

wearedonnnne · 21/10/2023 09:52

I have been on ozempic for ages. I took 0.25 again thurs morning (I have gone to lowest dose again the last 3 months to make the pen last longer)

I think I ate slightly more yesterday:

Fruit breakfast

Half hotdog and chips, half fresh doughnut

Pesto pasta with chorizo with veg

We were out for the day so I also had a bag of crisps and a couple of sweets.

None of amounts were massive but I definitely do normally eat healthier.

I felt awful last night so couldn't finish the pasta (it wasn't a massive bowl but I don't usually do heavy carbs anyway) and this morning I have been sick from both ends fairly violently.

I started ozempic in March this year and did get up to 1mg previously.

Is it likely I have a sickness bug or have I simply eaten worse/too much while on ozempic than my body can handle?

Peridot1 · 21/10/2023 09:52

I haven’t heard from Boots either @WhyDoesItAlways although got a message yesterday but it was just a generic message about how to,use etc. I’m hoping that means it’s ready for collection so I’m going to try today.

Peridot1 · 21/10/2023 09:53

@DrMadelineMaxwell did you actually try to order from Boots? I wasn’t sure if you just saw the message that they were only supplying previous customers and didn’t try or if they had refused you.

MotherofTerriers · 21/10/2023 10:40

@Peridot1 Type 2, and Ozempic has worked really well - brought HbA1c down from 51 to 39 and I'm losing weight steadily - half a lb to a lb a week.
GP is aware I'm on it and is happy, but in this area can't prescribe it. No new prescriptions until 2024, and then only if other medications have been tried and failed.

BarryKentPoet · 21/10/2023 11:09

I never did get a text from my local Boots to collect ... so I phoned the pharmacy and she had it ready for me within an hour.

Kfjsjdbd · 21/10/2023 11:09

I’m a bit surprised to have just had the easiest shopping experience for Wegovy through Asda, plus the 1.7mg was ‘only’ £227 delivered (a nice change from the £299 I’ve been paying from Right Angled!).

Has anyone else ordered from Asda? I’m wondering whether I can expect a follow up call going through any details, or whether it just gets delivered?

DrMadelineMaxwell · 21/10/2023 11:12

@Peridot1 I did. But to order I had to click whether I was new or whether I had previously ordered. If I clicked I was new it only offered orlistat. And I havent previous ordered so didn't feel I would get away with clicking to say I had and that they would check that.

Kfjsjdbd · 21/10/2023 11:43

Ok I take that back about Asda, I’ve just been rejected because they don’t have any stock!

Kfjsjdbd · 21/10/2023 11:57

I’ve given Quick Meds a go, £324 makes me feel a bit sick though!

I've just had my Asda delivery, very impressed. I ordered on 18th, they asked for a little more information (full body photo and photo showing my weight - but they only want this information every 3/4 months). They approved it on 20th and sent it and it arrived this morning.

They also sent through a very comprehensive and helpful weight loss support package via email.

witheringrowan · 21/10/2023 13:02

Asda turned me down - BMI of 27 is too low apparently, although I am still in the overweight category & just wanted to switch provider because of the Juniper stock issues.

Cantonet · 21/10/2023 13:09

My Asda order is 'pending' whatever that means. I also was requested to send a picture of my weight & a full body one.
I've checked the Asda site & it says the 1& 0.5 care available to new customers but doesn't state anything regarding the higher doses. I'm hoping it will go through ok as they state they're only out of the 0.25 doses.

witheringrowan · 21/10/2023 13:10

Sorry - bmi still above 28 actually! They suggested Alli instead, no thank you.

They accepted and processed the order last night, so I'm not expecting a dispatch until Monday.

I'm using 0.25 Pens but taking 0.5, so to get 1.0 cheaper than the 0.25's is great!

Peridot1 · 21/10/2023 13:54

@DrMadelineMaxwell - that’s frustrating. I can’t remember a question about being new when I filled in the consultation.

@MotherofTerriers - wonder if a letter from your gp saying they are happy for you to be on it but can’t prescribe it would make a difference?

MotherofTerriers · 21/10/2023 14:07

That would be nice @Peridot1 but in reality getting a GP appointment here is really difficult, a letter would probably be impossible. Plus I can't see him liking writing that he can't do something. His initial response when I asked about Ozempic was "what's Ozempic?".
I can carry on with Quickmeds for now, and then when supplies get easier look at a private prescription I can pick up from the chemist.

I might try Boots again in a few months, when I can tick the box that says my diabetes has been in remission for 6 months, that might work

Peridot1 · 21/10/2023 14:15

I get it @MotherofTerriers. It’s so frustrating to be trying to do something for our health and feel like you are fighting at every turn. And it’s amazing how many health professionals haven’t heard of it!

MotherofTerriers · 21/10/2023 14:34

It is very frustrating @Peridot1 . But I'm lucky in that I can (just) afford it and can sit with my finger on the button to place orders when stocks are in.
I think it will get easier as supply improves, and new drugs will be introduced as well. Looking on the bright side, I am lighter (I've not been a super-responder but also haven't had nasty side effects) which means I can now go to dance classes and walk without knee pain. Lower HbA1c is good for longer term health. Just keep plodding on I think! But I think a lot of people have the impression that NHS care for diabetes is a lot better than it is in reality. Plus there will be people in this area whose diabetes is worse than mine who will be first in the queue when GPs can prescribe. Which is fair enough, but it would be nice to be able to have a sensible conversation with a health professional.

Circa1840 · 21/10/2023 22:19

Asda just rejected me. I did ask for the 1.7 and they said they are out of stock. I messaged back straight away to see if I cd have a 1mg. No response yet. I have 3 weeks of my current pen. I just don't want another fob off month with juniper. Will keep trying....

Let me know how you get on. I think I'm going to do as @barrykentpoet did and give my branch a call on Monday.

Zempy · 21/10/2023 22:52

I just used a 0.5 pen for the first time (have been doing 2x 0.25 previously) and it absolutely does not look like a quarter of the product has gone from the pen.

Did I mess it up, or has anyone else had this happen?
