@Cantonet no chemist 4 u doesn't. Hence why I advise to start with them, you might pay more for your first pen but as soon as you move up, you will get more for your from them

Cantonet · 06/09/2023 14:00

@mathis2006 I'm most probably going to only do two weeks at 0.25 & then 2 at 0.5. As I've previously been on 1 mg for some time. So this will be tricky with Wegovy. And the supplies are not yet stable enough for me to rely on them. Rightangled seem to have been the most reliable supplier over Quickmeds & Health Express over the last few months for Ozempic & I'm hoping prices will come done as supply increases. Who knows!

Apologies if this has been mentioned already - the thread has moved very quickly in the last two days.

Can I ask why people on Saxenda are being offered Wegovy first? Is that because of Sax stock issues or that the Medicals think Wegovy is a better drug

Hi everyone I haven't posted much but have now lost 10kg in 3 and a half months. Dose has never been above 0.5 due to shortages. I have 6kg to go to get to a 25 BMI.

I feel so much better.

Paying for prescriptions for a relative who should be a candidate for NHS prescription (very high BMI, Type 2 diabetes, high BP, breathing difficulties) but whose diabetes clinic and GP won't prescribe. I get the distinct sense that this is more to do with poor awareness than anything else. Any suggestions in how she could run this conversation, our current plan is that I'll keep paying for her prescriptions until the NHS position improves.

I am diabetic but my GP says that they can't prescribe Ozempic at present. She has however agreed that I can buy it myself, and when they are able to prescribe again I won't have to go back to the beginning. The Pharmacist at Quickmeds was brilliant, and gave me some really useful advice on how to manage the situation.

Cantonet · 06/09/2023 16:44

@UsernameFail Boots are currently offering Wegovy only to its current Saxenda patients. I became allergic to Saxenda several.months ago & had to leave Boots prescribing for that very reason. They won't now prescribe Wegovy for me because I haven't been using Saxenda over the last 3 months.
Plus I think there's also been a major shortage of Saxenda.

SarahC50 · 06/09/2023 17:02

I just got an email from juniper today saying they are unable to offer wegovy at the moment. Not sure why they haven't managed to source it.

Is it possible to buy wegovy 1mg at the moment or is it as problematic as trying to source ozempic 1mg.

I don't know what to do I'm on ozempic 0.5 and losing so slowly.

Prettybubblesintheair · 06/09/2023 17:12

I got the same email from juniper. So fed up I thought once wegovy was available we’d be able to get out the shortages crisis!

WeightInLine · 06/09/2023 18:14

I’m in the same position @SarahC50 but I think better to stay here and lose slowly (or in my case, plateau) than come off and have to restart when stocks improve.

It’s expensive for just staying the same weight.

nebulae · 06/09/2023 18:32

@SarahC50 yes it's possible to buy 1mg wegovy, I got one from Quickmeds this afternoon. You'll have to be quick off the mark though, they sold out quick.

WhyDoesItAlways · 06/09/2023 18:32

I saw that from juniper too. I'm due a resupply next week and was hoping I could get 1mg of either Oz or wegovy but think I'm gonna have to stick on 0.5 a bit longer. I've been on an all inclusive the last 2 weeks and been too scared to weigh but will do on Friday to see what the damage is. Hoping I can maintain a steady albeit small loss on 0.5. I'm not ready to stop yet but don't want to keep paying £300 for 0.5.

I don’t think there is any medical reason some pharmacies have decided to give preference to existing customers. It’s customer service. There are huge saxenda stock issues and have been for months now so those customers that have clung on are being prioritised now those pharmacies have a viable alternative to offer them rather than create yet more stock and customer issues for themselves by starting new customers on wegovy too. With any luck the wegovy stock will ramp up and become more available and then it can be opened up to more people.

Also got to remember these are the same pharmacies that deliberately chose not to get into prescribing ozempic off licence for weight loss when they could have done, so for same reason if they need to manage demand they are going to choose those that used the licensed alternative that they sold

SarahC50 · 06/09/2023 19:14

@WeightInLine yes I think you're right it's crap paying for a sub therapeutic dose with juniper but as you say a slow loss is still a loss.
@Prettybubblesintheair my juniper health coach told me they had been caught unaware with the day of the wegovy launch so it sounds like they haven't got their act together, I too hoped for a transfer to wegovy with juniper

@nebulae that's good to know did you have to submit pics or anything? Asking as my BMI now not over 30

@WhyDoesItAlways how did you find your appetite and eating on 0.5 on holiday? I go in Oct and I'm so scared I'll gain a tonne. I can easily put seven pounds on when on holiday. I'm the same as you with juniper but my refill due the 11th. I might try and buy the 1mg with right angled and if no joy get the 0.5 with juniper. Juniper have been a shitshow start to finish and the email we got today had a really annoying tone I thought

nebulae · 06/09/2023 19:30

@SarahC50 they didn't ask for a photo of me but they did ask for proof of my current ozempic dose, either a screenshot of my latest order confirmation or a photo of the box with the label showing it was prescribed for me. They said they're being cautious re safe prescribing.

SarahC50 · 06/09/2023 19:31

@nebulae do let us know how you feel on the wegovy. You are the thread trailblazer xx

SarahC50 · 06/09/2023 19:32

@nebulae what dose of ozempic were you on. I'm only prescribed 0.5? X

nebulae · 06/09/2023 19:34

@SarahC50 will do, though @HettaCr ordered hers yesterday so she's the official guinea pig.

They asked me to send some photos and asked when last I used Ozempic. After that, I was approved for wegovy 1mg. Should be receiving it soon.

@SarahC50 for holidays, I just take that week off from trying to lose weight otherwise I won't be able to enjoy myself. Though I do try to make better choices when eating.

nebulae · 06/09/2023 19:42

@HettaCr 😊

@SarahC50 I was on 1mg when the shortages started. Since then I've been making do with whatever I could get, went back to 0.5 for a while then back up to 0.75 for the last few weeks. I'd not ordered from QM for a while so I suppose they needed to check I'd not been off it completely.

SarahC50 · 06/09/2023 20:00

@nebulae @HettaCr brilliant hope it goes well with wegovy please report back xx
Yes I guess they have to check otherwise people might not titrate up x

I wanted to enjoy myself so didn't purposefully restrict myself but I found I was only able to manage 2 meals a day and more often than not couldn't finish my meal. I also found myself wanting to eat more fresh stuff e.g when DP and DS went to the snack bar for a burger or hotdog for lunch I didn't fancy it so went to the buffet for sushi or a salad. I think I probably had quite a few hidden calories like food being cooked in more oil than I would at home or more sugary and alcoholic drinks that I would've have at home. Whilst it'll definitely be a gain for me I feel like I did a lot better than I would have if I hadn't taken ozempic so I'm not disappointed.

Enjoy your holiday.

SarahC50 · 06/09/2023 22:42

@WhyDoesItAlways brilliant sounds like ozempic is still having a good effect on you. Really good that you fancied healthier options too. On the 0.5mg I'm finding I can eat three meals and not get that stuffed feeling I used to get.

Hope it was lovely and thankyou I'm off to Montenegro in Oct x

nebulae · 07/09/2023 10:28

Superdrug has wegovy in stock for click & collect at a few stores. Only for existing customers though 🙄

leilani83 · 07/09/2023 11:04

It's all a bit dispiriting. It's like they are drumming up hysteria about it by this 'limited and controlled' launch, restricting access and keeping the prices high. They probably won't come down any time soon.

I'm just going to try to get used to feeling hungrier again and try to lose the rest on my own steam.
