2.5lb a week (on average)

I weighted myself this morning and I'm 14st 5lbs. That's a gain of 12lbs in the past 10 weeks - I'm disgusted with myself!!

I've been struggling to lose weight since DC2 was born 14 months ago. Nowhere near enough sleep, too exhausted to exercise and bingeing on crap at night when the kids are in bed.

We're going on our first family holiday abroad at the end of September and I want to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight (11st) for then.

I have 18 weeks to lose 47lbs, that's 2.5lbs a week. I've fired up my fitbit and intend on doing the following:

10,000 steps a day
1200 calories a day
Log everything in MyFitnessPal
Drink 2 litres of water a day

I've lost around a stone twice already this year doing faddy diets but they aren't sustainable long term and I've put the weight back on (plus some) when I've stopped, so I want to do more of a lifestyle change than a crash diet this time.

Anyone want to join me for accountability? I plan on weighing myself every Monday morning and will share my results here (even if no-one else joins, it'll hopefully keep me on track).

Morning!

Today is the day that I am officially starting. We went to Bridlington over the weekend for a little caravan holiday and we had a meal out booked so I thought there was no point in properly starting until today. Let's see how I go! I'm a bit nervous.

Reading all your posts is making me want to get some scales but I'm so scared of seeing my start weight or seeing the numbers go up!

Hope you had a good break! Scales aren't for everyone @Ilovedavidmitchell so if you don't want to weigh yourself then maybe take your measurements instead and monitor your progress that way.

Sometimes seeing the weight in black and white can be the motivator? Certainly it is for me. I don’t want to see those numbers and so seeing them come down is very empowering. But you do what’s best for you. If you don’t want to buy the scales then don’t - measure your waist and hips instead? Find a top or dress that you’d like to fit better and put that in each week or each 2 weeks and see how it feels? Take an underwear photo and then do it again in 4 weeks? Whatever works for you. We will support you!

Todaypicard · 26/06/2023 08:47

Certainly the waist measurement is the most important. Is is above 30 inches that is associated with visceral fat? That’s the fat around your organs that is a big health risk. So getting under 30mm he’s should be a priority for us all. More tricky for apple shapes but still important

Ilovedavidmitchell · 26/06/2023 09:33

Yes good suggestions, I am going to do the waist measurements, mine currently is exactly 34 inches so definitely needs to come down

LazyLeopard · 26/06/2023 09:57

Welcome @Ilovedavidmitchell I hope you had a great weekend! You've got this!

I'm back, I had a great week of food..awful week of alcohol. I am weak in the sun.

However, I woke up feeling bloody awful today, and refuse to carry on. So I am 0.5lbs down, not amazing, but maybe a wake up call as to what I'd be able to achieve if I didn't drink my calories? I've bought some fizzy water, and some nice flavoured water too - 0cals more expensive than wine!! - so here goes!

i hope you're all doing ok? What days do you all weigh in on?

blueby7 · 26/06/2023 13:19

Afternoon everyone,
Wow I am so proud of everyone's results you're all doing so well. I'm finding it's finally paying off, the consistency, and I've started to have a few comments asking if I've lost weight.
Last week weigh in - 76.2kg
Todays weigh in - 75.1kg

It's really motivated me to try harder this week.

I've had several talks with myself to keep that motivation 🤣
I'm finding it so hard in some ways because although I have lost 6kgs (this is since march though), so down from 81 to 75kgs, and once I hit my next goal of 70kgs, I am still so very far from a healthy BMI. Like I've got to lose another at least 10kgs really to be healthy. Which I find really disheartening, but oh well, only thing to do is keep going!

@Todaypicard such an interesting question you asked up thread, I've been thinking about it since I read it the other day.
I have definitely changed my eating habits, but for me it finally feels like a permanent change in mindset. Like I could not really see myself going back to eating how I used to.
I didn't have a terrible diet before but it consisted of a lot of bread and cheese and peanut butter and bit portions, as well as too many crisps, meals out and take aways. Again, not all the time but often take away twice a month, which really adds up!

Now I eat similar foods to before but much less processed carbs, and much smaller portions. I have also started to make healthier choices at restaurants and not regret it which is a big step for me.

blueby7 · 26/06/2023 13:21

Sorry to have rambled on!

@LazyLeopard I could have written that! Alcohol is such a big one for me, there are so many calories in a couple of bottles of red over the weekend but it's also one of my favourite things so I think I need to have a good think about how to address it. Either cut out for a while or be very strict on intake.

Hope the flavoured water helps, it's a really good idea!

I've been having a can of Coke Zero most days and it's really helped with my sweet tooth.

Quitelikeit · 26/06/2023 13:36

I’m joining!

I’ve been trying super hard for two weeks now. My scales are broken though so I don’t know how much I’ve lost

ive been drinking 6 pints of water a day and it’s really really helped my energy levels

I’ve been having v little processed food

Also lots of Sainsbury’s Soups as they are filling and low calorie and not ultra processed

blueby7 · 26/06/2023 17:47

Just something to bear in mind if you are using measurements as opposed to the scale, you lose "hard fat" first, so the more dangerous fat that surrounds the organs, your liver etc. then you'll start it lose "soft fat" so the visible stuff.

So nothing wrong with measuring just don't be too hard on yourself or give up if you think you are losing any inches because likely you will have lost some of the more dangerous fat first :)

Todaypicard · 26/06/2023 20:42

Meals today:

breakfast - strawberries and banana with sprinkle of muesli and some coconut kefir yoghurt

lunch - leftover ricotta pasta with kale, green beans and broccoli. Then a fruit salad of grapes, cherries, and kiwi.

dinner - bowl of lentil and veg soup with one slice of whole meal toast.

Ilovedavidmitchell · 26/06/2023 20:45

You're all so good at not snacking. I just can't seem to keep myself full.

Today I had strawberries in yoghurt, a banana and a snack a jack.

Then lunch I had leftover homemade spinach, chickpea and sweet potato curry.

Then carrots and hummus. Then two rivitas

Dinner was a halloumi salad and I'm hungry again 😔

Quitelikeit · 26/06/2023 21:02

I had 3 bagels (thin) 130 cals

one with two scrambled eggs

two with a slice of ham and a splash of salad cream

two egg omelette with mushroom and onion one slice of brown seeded bread ((130 cals)

7 crab sticks

7 pints of water

too many carbs today but still low calorie (I think ha)

LazyLeopard · 26/06/2023 21:45

Oh @blueby7 I hear you! I reckon I double my calories with wine 😬

food I’ve been ‘fine’ but I’m counting small wins, as I replaced my white wine with fizzy water, and with my glass of red/whisky I am nursing a camomile tea in a new posh glass mug to make it feel special. I actually think with me it’s DOING it. As in, instead of pouring the red, I boil the kettle. Does that make sense?

i’m quite pleased with myself, so hopefully tomorrow food will level out too. If that makes sense? If I feel successful I’ll carry on. Which I know sounds pathetic but that’s me 😁

Todaypicard · 27/06/2023 21:06

Another day!

meals…

no breakfast
leftover ricotta pasta for lunch with kale and spring cabbage, an apple to follow.
dinner was lentil and vegetable soup, one slice of seeded bread, a few chunks of tofu, and a satsuma and grapes

HawdMeBack · 27/06/2023 22:22

Not such a good day for me 🫣

Breakfast - Quarter of a square of buttered toast for breakfast (DS's leftovers).
Lunch- Nothing.
Tea - Scrambled egg x2 on 2 pieces of toast
Snacks - snack a jacks, 4 x chocolate truffles, a meringue nest with strawberries and cream and a babybel

My sweet tooth got the better of me today but I'll be better tomorrow!

Ilovedavidmitchell · 29/06/2023 08:16

Weighed myself this morning.. 11st 2

I'd like to lose a stone and a half as that was my weight before I started putting it on. But tbh anything under 10st would be amazing.

Today and tomorrow are my two days in the office and I struggle to stay on track in the office. I find it's much easier at home. Let's see how I go 🤞

LazyLeopard · 29/06/2023 09:12

Morning everyone!

Yummy meals for everyone - you're all doing well!

@Ilovedavidmitchell You can do it! Both getting to under 10st and staying strong in the office. If you want a craving buddy, feel free to DM me, and I can encourage you on! Sometimes you just need somebody outside the influence of workmates, who gets it x

Also @Ilovedavidmitchell do you have a recipe for your broccoli and chickpea stir-fry x

I've lost 2lbs since the beginning of the week. I'm under no illusion this will stick for a full week, but it's a nice motivation to carry on. I know you're not meant to weigh yourself each day, but I find it helps me keep going.

I've also done 3 nights no alcohol. This is big for me. So I'm feeling very very pleased with that.

Yesterday was:
5k Run
Cup of tea
L: Scrambled eggs and skinny sausages
D: Small Beef Casserole and Dumplings ready meal - not usually a ready meal fan, but it was comfort food and I didn't get in until nearly 9pm so I thought it would stop me saying 'fuck it let's order a pizza'
10 jelly tots.

Not as much water yesterday, so will fix that today. Hope you're all doing ok x

Quitelikeit · 29/06/2023 09:27

today I hope to start some HIIT training via my TV set 🤣 not confident enough to face the gym as I don’t know what I’m doing there

Yesterday was

Thin bagel, two eggs scrambled, 3 skinnny sausages, splash of ketchup and a touch of butter = maybe 700 cals

Two slices of brown 55cal bread, with two scrambled eggs, scrape of butter

7 pints of water & 1 cup of coffee

Im loving my eggs right now. No more bagels left now so I won’t be having them anymore.

still 11st 11 today but that’s fine

come on girls we can do this!!!

Quitelikeit · 29/06/2023 09:29

Today I’m going to have a large chicken breast with some franks and mayonnaise swirled together it’s yummy

and microwave Birdseye green veg - 110 cals a bag mmmm
