Ozempic new starters thread

Wondering if anyone would like to join me starting Ozempic. I’m doing my first injection tonight and am very nervous about reactions/side effects. I’m 5’ and 10.5 stones with very high blood pressure which medication is struggling yo bring down, high cholesterol and arthritis.

I would like to get to 9 stones realistically and ideally 8.5. I do seem to have unusual reactions to some medication so am really hoping I can take this without too many problems as I’m sure I’d be far healthier minus a couple stones.

youvebeenmuffled. That’s fantastic progress in 3 weeks. I’d definitely be sticking to 0.25 while you’re getting this sort of result

I took 0.5 on Thursday. Felt very nauseous Friday, woke up during the night feeling sick. Was dreading today but it’s been more of an early morning light morning sickness feeling, once I get going I’m fine. However this has meant I really haven’t felt like eating at all. Really need to make sure I consume enough calories to lose weight if you see what I mean.

Juniper isn't accepting new patients, is there anywhere else I can try please?

I’ve looked all over the place and everywhere seems to be out of stock 😩

Hey everyone! I've found this thread incredibly informative and would like to launch out of lurkdom!! Im about to do my first 0.25 today.
Just a quick question if anyone has a moment. I'm going to inject in the front of my thigh (as recommended on the information sheet included with my pen) Do you have to pinch your skin, or is it better to just pop it in your skin 'flat' if that makes sense?! What do you do? Also, will it be enough to just alternate thighs going forward? Thanks so much. I have 4 stone to lose, which at 5'1 is an enormous amount ☹️ and I'm excited and nervous in equal measure!

minimonkey11 · 21/05/2023 14:22

@Bunnybooboob i am the same height and have same to lose. I have just finished week 3. Inject flat. I do thigh and stomach alternating.

mumwheresmyribena · 21/05/2023 15:18

No need to pinch the skin, just pop the needle in. No real need to change legs or sites if you don't want. As long as you're not jabbing the same bit of skin you'll be fine so a couple of cms away is all you need.

mumwheresmyribena · 21/05/2023 15:19

My reply was meant for @Bunnybooboob

Bunnybooboob · 21/05/2023 15:32

Thank you so much @mumwheresmyribena and @minimonkey11 All done. Feeling positive about this as I finally feel I've taken control a bit and I can improve my health myself.

Menora · 21/05/2023 18:49

I did post on the other thread sorry for repeating for anyone.
I worried all week my 1st dose didn’t work as the plunger in the pen didn’t change or go up that I could see.
Then I accidentally discharged a whole 0.25 bloody dose when I was trying to check the flow
I did my 2nd dose this evening and I did everything how I should and rewatched a video first but think I did too high on my leg (like round nearer my hip)
I'm so annoyed I might have wasted a dose and we think my scales are broken so I am gonna just deep breathe. Where is good to get needles? I Google novofine 32g 4mm and a lot of different ones come up
I assume I have more in the pen as it’s barely moved up so I need more needles!
I considered buying the next pen just so I had my next supply but I don’t want to deprive anyone who needs one and I haven’t run out yet

Mephisneon · 22/05/2023 21:50

@menora I don't think where you did it on your leg will make a difference. I bought these today but haven't arrived yet so can't say if they fit. I can let you know..

I'm very happy with how it's gone so far - 4 weeks in on 0.25 and I've lost 10lb. I'm combining it with intermittent fasting, so don't eat until lunchtime and like many others there is just a lack of food "noise" which is wonderful.

Im sticking on 0.25 for weeks 5 and 6 as I was away at the weekend and Im going on holiday next weekend - I'd rather delay going up to 0.5 until im back from holiday in case I get some of the side effects (have been lucky so far that everything has been fine). I've bought some extra needles and am using up what's left in the 0.25 pen.

Maybe Im a hypocrite in unilaterally changing the titration but I suppose I see doing it more slowly is the not the same as upping it more quickly than the prescription, the effectiveness may just run out.

Mephisneon · 23/05/2023 12:15

My additional needles arrived this morning from amazon and they fit on the pen. Just FYI for anyone wanting more needles.

WeightInLine · 23/05/2023 17:35

Hi All, can I join? I am on Week 2 and lost 3lbs in the first week which is great. My third injection will be on Friday when I’ll do a proper weigh-in as well.

I decided to go on ozempic as part of a ‘This has to stop!’ feeling after a Coronation party. I just don’t want to be fat any more. As soon as I ordered the pen, I started counting calories so I had a few days of weight loss before the pen arrived. I have kept doing MFP and 15 minutes of Pilates a day.

I also watched a YouTuber who said that to minimise side effects she recommended ‘Eat Light’, which I’ve taken to mean avoiding dairy and pasta. Which I thought would be hard as I love buttered toast/macaroni cheese/milky tea. But it seems to be fine - I am not craving them and I’ve not noticed any negative side effects.

mumwheresmyribena · 23/05/2023 20:24

@WeightInLine The food recommendations for Ozempic (by the manufacturer and other doctors not social media/influencers) are low carb (not keto), high protein, small portions, less UHPs and not too much fat because it makes most people nauseous.

minimonkey11 · 23/05/2023 20:43

I want 2 needles really not 100- can i buy less than 100??

Seemingly not! It's annoying.

Luckingfovely · 23/05/2023 23:26

I'm feeling a little stuck, and would love any advice, please?

Have done four weeks on 0.25, followed by two weeks on 0.5 (ish, all from the same pen).

Tomorrow will be my first from the new 0.5 pen.

I haven't lost anything yet. So happy reading all the success stories, but worried that it's just not appearing to work for me?

I am sure I'm eating less. Feel fuller. Snacking less. Running / walking much more than for years.

Do I need to do something more? It's so expensive, I can't afford for it not to work. Deeply peri. Most of weight round middle.

I so was expecting results by now. I'm constantly exhausted, and not sure if it's related to this or not. But the scales will not move!

Any insight would be very welcome.

WeightInLine · 24/05/2023 09:04

@Luckingfovely Are you calorie counting? It might be worth doing that on My Fitness Pal or similar. You need to be in calorie deficit to actually lose the weight and you might just be on calorie in-calorie out balanced.

Franklin2000 · 24/05/2023 13:32

@Luckingfovely I’ve heard the 0.25 is just a starting dose and unlikely to do much. Once you go up to 0.5 that’s when a lot of people start to see a difference. I would say you need to calorie count though. I was consuming a lot and I’ve brought it right down to 1200 per day, maybe more on a weekend if there’s something on. But I always record, it’s very easy to miss hidden calories and fats etc. also, with you exercising, are you measuring your body? You might be losing inches not pounds.

Menora · 24/05/2023 13:38

I’ve not lost much in 2 weeks but I wasn’t expecting to yet. I’ve been easing myself into gradually eating less and making better choices as from experience it’s when I go a million miles an hour into dieting that I will always fail
to me this isn’t going to a quick summer fix. Don’t worry too much just pace yourself

Luckingfovely · 24/05/2023 16:34

Thank you guys - I will start calorie counting and hope that's the magic trick! Smile

PinkCosYouAreSoVery · 24/05/2023 21:13

6th Weekly Wednesday weigh-in from me. 7th dose (2nd of 0.5). Lost 3 lbs this week so thats a total of 1st3lb. I am aiming to lose another stone by 5th July, it's going to be tight!

My hunger has definitely been curtailed effectively again by the 0.5 dose so I hope that continues. I havent yet read everyones updates since last week but am going to make a cuppa now and have a read through, I hope you're all having success.

CouldIHaveThatInEnglishPlease · 24/05/2023 22:31

Hey, newbie here.
I was planning on ordering my first pen tomorrow but cannot find anywhere with ozempic in stock. Could I ask where you are all getting it from?

thank you

Fortheloveofus · 25/05/2023 17:32

HI all. Been away for a while and not updated so apologies for long post
I did my first 0.5 on Monday and I've finally noticed a difference in my appetite. Hurrah! I was down 6lb in 6 weeks and have managed to stay 2lb lower than my dreaded longstanding plateau weight so looking forward to weigh in on Monday.and seeing some more progress.
I've still been using my original pen but only have a little left so Iwent back to Manual yesterday to order a 0.5 pen but they didn't have any due to shortages. They then tried to sell me a 0.25 pen for £250 but I managed to get it back down to original £199 after some lengthy negotiations. The cost is so prohibitive already, I just couldn't afford or justify the extra cost. I'm only allowing myself 3 months on Oz then it's back to willpower. I hope supplies are back to normal when next one is due. Anyone had any similar problems with prices rising with other suppliers? I was thinking about swapping to the oral tablets as they were £169 - any thoughts anyone?

MedievalMadness · 25/05/2023 17:33

Luckingfovely. I think any loss on 0.25 is a bonus as it’s not a therapeutic dose but they recommend it so you get used to it and hopefully get less side effects when you start 0.50 which is the therapeutic starting dose. Do you have a coach you can speak to with the company your getting it from? The ones on Juniper were responsive when I got in touch about some kidney discomfort I was having.

CouldIHaveThatInEnglishPlease. I got mine from myjuniper.co.uk. I did read on here they’re not accepting new patients at the moment but it could be worth contacting them to ask when they think they will be able to accept new patients. I know some people are getting theirs through Manual. I’m not sure what they’re doing at the moment. That’s so frustrating you can’t get hold of it . I hope you find somewhere soon 🤞🏼.

PinkCozYouAreSoVery 1st 3 is brilliant. You must be so pleased with that. I think we started at the same time as I’m in 2nd dose if 0.5 too. I hope you get a stone more by 5 July 🤞🏼.

I had my 2nd 0.5 dose today. I lost 1lb 4oz last week which makes for a 13lb loss since 14 April which is more than I’ve ever lost at any stage of any previous weight loss attempt. I’ve got 10 lb to go to get to my goal and to a weight my rheumatologist and GP will hopefully be happy with. BP still high but not as high so am hoping it goes down a bit more in time. Joint pain still awful but hoping I can do a bit more walking .
