Ozempic new starters thread

Wondering if anyone would like to join me starting Ozempic. I’m doing my first injection tonight and am very nervous about reactions/side effects. I’m 5’ and 10.5 stones with very high blood pressure which medication is struggling yo bring down, high cholesterol and arthritis.

I would like to get to 9 stones realistically and ideally 8.5. I do seem to have unusual reactions to some medication so am really hoping I can take this without too many problems as I’m sure I’d be far healthier minus a couple stones.

@MedievalMadness thankyou so much. I'll report back tomorrow xx

hotelmotelpremierinn · 03/05/2023 23:32

Anyone else had headaches? Felt terrible today

DaisyDieter · 03/05/2023 23:36

@hotelmotelpremierinn It's awful isn't it, mine is a real heaviness in the temples and between the eyes.

Fraaahnces · 04/05/2023 08:18

@DaisyDieter Headachey today. Also rather dehydrated as was going first aid course in the middle of nowhere today and didn’t have the sense to bring h20. Idiot.
Although the scales haven’t shifted, my jeans are stating that I have lost weight. Yay jeans!

mumwheresmyribena · 04/05/2023 08:54

@hotelmotelpremierinn Have you tried drinking more? Maybe add some electrolytes, that's always my first thought. Having said that, the only time I had a headache when I took Ozempic turned out to be Covid a couple of weeks ago!

Franklin2000 · 04/05/2023 11:24

Second weigh in, 1lb off. Bit disappointed but time of the month too and I always carry tons of water. Hopefully will be shifted for next week. On the plus side, I tried on some old clothes and although still tight, definitely not as much as they were a couple of weeks ago, so the bloating must be going.

Franklin2000 · 04/05/2023 11:25

And does anyone have a link to extra needles? Was thinking eBay as I don’t want loads of them but I’m not sure of size.

mumwheresmyribena · 04/05/2023 11:59

@Franklin2000 The needle size is written on the cap of each needle your get with a pack of Ozempic also on needle box

@hotelmotelpremierinn I had horrific headaches week 1 that nothing touched. Some advise electrolyte drinks and upping your fluids.

I've just taken second dose of 0.5 and no nausea so relieved after a hellish time last week x

DaisyDieter · 04/05/2023 14:21

The Sulphur burps have started here. Honestly feels like death.

BangingOn · 04/05/2023 14:34

Please can I join? I’m a slight impostor as I’m starting Rybelsus which is the tablet form rather than the injections. The tablets arrived today so I will start in the morning as they need to be taken on am empty stomach.

I am excited and nervous in equal measure.

Yes funnily enough I had an electrolyte drink yesterday and I felt worse after. It definitely feels like the headaches I get when I've not had enough to eat - but I am eating. Strange. Hopefully it'll pass.

Thank you - fingers crossed my second dose is similar! I've been exhausted and headachy all week. (To be fair I think my body is used to a LOT more calories 😬)

Fortheloveofus · 04/05/2023 16:53

Hi all, not commented for a while.
First two weeks I took 0.25 as prescribed. Second week I was pretty ill with shivers, exhaustion, diarrhoea and really bad nausea. Third week I only took 0.125 because was going away for weekend and didn't want it ruined by all the symptoms but didn't want to halt build up in system completely. All side effects disappeared. Took 4th dose of 0.25 yesterday morning (I'm full of flu anyway). So I'm on 4th week and not once have I felt appetite suppression. I have not stopped eating. First week I lost the 3lb I put on over Easter weekend before I started Oz but i had gone no carb, 1200 calories and lots of exercise..This took me back down to the weight I just can't get under during last few years. Second week I lost 1lb but was unable to do anything but walk due to nausea and exhaustion, was still low carb and 1200 calories. 3rd week I put 1lb back on (weekend away = alcohol and pub meals). So I'm now back at the original nemesis weight!
Supposed to have my second coaching session with Manual today but they cancelled last minute and didn't have another appt till 31st May. My subscription renewal was due on 8th May but I've cancelled. I refuse to pay £200 to a firm who can't be bothered to fit you in for a 5 minute call. I have at least another 3 doses left in first pen and will continue with that and maybe order with someone else in a week or two, but I'm so despondent (and ill and hungry).

SarahC50 · 04/05/2023 17:28

@hotelmotelpremierinn I know we are probably eating half if not a third of our normal calories, well I am anyway if I'm honest about my huge portions and huge amounts of crap. I think the reduced calories really make you fatigued.

I'm much better this week no nausea and able to exercise. No losses though but I am due my period so hoping after that it will drop. Hope your fatigue eases.

@Fortheloveofus no wonder you are despondent you're having a rough ride. I'm with juniper and have found them good. I have a health coach online not phonecalls and I can ask her as many questions as I like and normally get a reply within a day. That's atrocious no call till end of May considering what they charge that's no support at all. Would you consider moving suppliers.
What a pain about the appetite suppression maybe you will have to get to 1mg at least to have any effect. Very frustrating for you when it's been a rough ride. I've had appetite suppression but mainly due to feeling queasy like morning sickness. Good luck xx

Fortheloveofus · 04/05/2023 17:39

@SarahC50 thank you. I think, if I remember your story correctly, we're in similar boat as in age, menopausal and chronic illness and I think you said it's working for you? This gives me hope.
I'm put off going with Juniper mainly because of the unwanted scales! But I might give them a go and see if I get passed with them but pretty sure I've got at least 2 jabs left

Fab, thank you! I hadn’t noticed this 🤦‍♀️

mumwheresmyribena · 04/05/2023 18:08

@Franklin2000 Neither did I until someone here mentioned it.

MedievalMadness · 05/05/2023 10:54

Hope everyone is doing ok. Third weigh-in this morning and down just under 1lb. I’m hoping when I go up to 0.5 I do a bit better. I’ve been really hungry the last two days .

OP posts:
everly · 05/05/2023 17:12

I took my first dose this morning - 0.25mg. I haven't feel any difference in anything yet.

This was kind of a last resort for me, I'm 18st 6lb and have been loosing and regaining the same half st since January. I suffer from chronic pain/illness as well as poor mental health and have been really struggling with a lot in life the last couple of years. I use food as a crutch, to distract myself. I also have terrible insomnia and binge eat through the night (I get so hungry, and shaky during the night when awake)

Getting my weight down is one of the first things I'm now trying to really focus on. Fingers crossed I start to see results soon!

MedievalMadness · 05/05/2023 18:36

everly. I really hope you get on well with it and it helps a lot. I have a degenerative condition and am exhausted a lot of the time and don’t do much exercise. I comfort eat and eat in the night too as my sleep is horrendous. I just don’t lose weight easily at all but have lost half a stone in 3 weeks which is more than I’ve done on any diet ever.

You've made a great start, how much are you aiming to loose, if you don't mind me asking? Sounds like we have a fair bit in common. I'm hoping that posting here will help me stay accountable.
Wishing everyone else here well on their weight loss journey.

Fortheloveofus · 05/05/2023 20:00

@everly welcome and good luck. Please don't worry if you're not feeling effects straightaway. If you read any of the threads, you'll be surprised how differently people react the first few weeks.
Treat this thread as a bit of a journal and source of information. Everybody is great and someone will always have the answer to a question or words of encouragement or reassurance you need

Hi and good luck to all the new starters. I’m on week 3, 7lb down and initially had no side effects and really had to work hard to keep my appetite in check through calorie counting religiously. However 3rd dose yesterday and I’m having to really force myself to eat. I’m sat here with tangerines for my tea because I’m just not feeling anything more. So my tip would be to give it chance to build up in your system.
