Hi all. I posted last week to say I was starting and a week on I've lost 9lb, which is amazing. BUT I'm having a massive wobble after seeing a TikTok last night where someone said they'd paralysed their stomach by taking Ozempic and it's really worried me. The comments were full of people who have had awful (and some irreversible) things happen to them, like kidney damage.
Also, this week I haven't really had any side effects, I felt a bit nauseous on Monday but not much really. BUT I have a job interview I have to go to in person on Monday and I've got a busy week next week and I'm terrified Week 2 might bring the nausea. I'm putting off taking my second dose tonight because I'm so worried about feeling sick.
Do I need talking down?

aNewYorkerInLondon · 13/04/2023 21:21

Hi! My SO is in medical need of this or Wegovy but his is a complicated situation. We need to find a clinic in central London where he could work with a doctor in person to prescribe this. The online prescribers won't help us.

Even the NHS doctors say that this would help him immensely and they have no alternative solution, but they still can't prescribe it because he is not within their required parameters.

Can anyone recommend a central London, in-person doctor?

kkr168 · 13/04/2023 21:22

Just taken my 1st dose, I've been scared to do it all evening but literally didn't feel anything.
Also ignore me asking earlier if we needed a sharps bin, my husband took the delivery & didn't tell me it included one.

They way I look at it is - I’m at massive risk of all the of the above and much more, cancers, heart disease unless I sort my weight out.

As @Lostinalibrary said, I’m beginning to worry about my long term health, and the healthy/or in fact unhealthy example I’m setting to my DD who’s at a really impressionable age. Consider how many people would ever admit to potentially dosing incorrectly. And also I think it’s been FDA approved for diabetes for 20+ years. We wouldn’t have wegovy on tbe way if they weren’t sure about it 😘

LemonPledge555 · 13/04/2023 21:34

@kkr168 ive just done mine this evening, been crapping it all day built also because I wanted privacy but I’ve had none because blinking school hols. Barely felt a thing but def stabbed myself putting it in the sharps box 😂

LemonPledge555 · 13/04/2023 21:36

I’m wondering about a box of the additional needles, I reckon we’d be using max 24 a year based on an extra 2 per pen so even a bit less), not sure I want to sit on 100 needles. I’ll buy a box in the next 2-3 weeks but if anyone wants half you’re welcome too them for postage 👍🏻

Fortheloveofus · 13/04/2023 21:38

I'm so disappointed, I've been hungry all day and have just had a snack after eating healthy all day.
Can I ask everyone when they first started feeling suppression? I know its different for everyone but would really like some reassurance that not everyone felt it within first 24 hours?

NCFOROZ · 13/04/2023 21:46

@Fortheloveofus appetite suppression is merely a side effect of the drug. The attached is how it works. The delayed gastric emptying is why people feel less hungry but you still need to eat a healthy, balanced diet, exercise and change your eating habits long term otherwise it's pointless taking it. I recommend reading the NICE guidance which can be found via google.

LemonPledge555 · 13/04/2023 21:47

@Fortheloveofus from what I’ve read on here it can be 2-3 days before noticing it 💐 it will be ok!

NCFOROZ · 13/04/2023 21:47

@Fortheloveofus plus it takes weeks to build up on your system. If you read back through the thread someone posted about this. It's not going to work overnight. It's a long term drug for the chronic disease that is obesity. It's not a quick fix.

Fortheloveofus · 13/04/2023 22:20

@NCFOROZ thank you for being so thorough and informative. I get the science and know I need to eat healthy and I know its not a quick fix and I have read all the threads. Apologies if I've offended you for asking for a little reassurance. If you'd read back through the thread yourself, you'd know I wasn't sure I'd administered the injection properly and so was merely asking if not everyone notices the effects straightaway, as I know some people do. I wasn't expecting to wake up a size 8 this morning! But again, thank you for taking time to reply and imparting such words of warning and wisdom. Much appreciated 🙏

Fortheloveofus · 13/04/2023 22:22

Thanks @LemonPledge555. I know it'll probably be all fine. I just didn't want to have to waste another week if I had failed to inject properly last night. I'm probably just bring silly and worrying too much. I might be back on tomorrow complaining I'm full after a cuppa x

OohBurnDavid · 13/04/2023 22:36

I’ve just read the last few threads. Thanks to everyone who has been so informative.

my BMI is 32.5 and I’m in really bad habits (constantly grazing for snacks, eating junk while working, drinking too much). I’m going to give Ozempic a go as I need ti make some big changes but feel constantly hungry.

it sounds like manual is the cheapest currently with a code, I can hopefully get 7 weeks from 1st 0.25ml pen then reorder with whoever has the best deal. The only thing I wasn’t sure if was if they (manual) automatically resend the pens on a subscription so will I have to cancel the next months to shop around?

I’ve got a hen weekend in June and I’d want to lose at least a stone ideally more for that.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 13/04/2023 22:37

I didn't really notice anything any different until this week, when I took my 3rd dose.

LemonPledge555 · 13/04/2023 22:43

I remember you were worried about not doing it right. Did it click around to zero? If so it’s likely it all went in. I had to rush it on tbe sly as not one other person has left my house today to give me peace 😂

it’s such a huge commitment though, I completely understand your worry of doing it properly. It’s a big change taking a drug by injection too. I’m kind of surprised I managed to do it to myself at all! Hopefully you start feeling a bit different shortly 😘

Stabbing yourself while putting the first needle in the sharps bin should be considered a rite of passage, it's part of the initiation ceremony. I'm not sure you're really in the program until you've done this 😄

Fortheloveofus · 13/04/2023 22:48

Yeah, it clicked to 0 but I didn't count to 6 snd I didn't prime it. I think i'm just needlessly worryimg because I've read some posts saying they woke up next day and appetite was different but I know it's not the case for everyone.

Glad you found a spare second to inject. I'd love to know how you progress. I feel better starting the same time as someone else for some reason so thank you for staying in touch and letting me know how you're getting on and for the reassurance

kkr168 · 13/04/2023 22:57

Hope you start to notice some appetite suppression soon and that will reassure you. I also wondered if I had done it right the first time because I felt nothing when the needle went in and because there was a drop of fluid on the end of the needle when I pulled it out, despite me counting to 6. I never saw that on the YouTube videos!
But if the pen went from 0.25 to 0, that is the most important thing.

Myfridgeisnoisy · 14/04/2023 07:14

If you order from Juniper do you have to submit a photo so they can verify your BMI?

@LemonPledge555 id love to buy some of the extra needles please.

@aNewYorkerInLondon try the London Clinic on Harley Street.

@Fortheloveofus I think it takes time to build up in your system.

I slept for 10.5 hours last night, not completely unusual for me but I was exhausted. I suspect the change in diet had contributed to it too as I’m not having lots of sugary snacks.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 14/04/2023 08:15

I am currently waiting for juniper to approve an order for Ozempic 1 mg they have approved .5mg and I have not been asked to provide a photo. I did not give my drs details.
I will update if this changes, juniper have offered me .5 mg but will
Not approve 1mg for Month 3 I have now asked why they prefer to prescribe .5mg.
