Thread 1: www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/4715040-lazy-pig-seeks-other-lazy-pigs-to-lose-1lb-a-week?page=1

We started on 9th January (ish) after we’d very heroically finished off the Christmas chocolate. We discussed our half-arsed plans to shift a bit of timber as we wafted our pudgy trotters vaguely towards the fruit bowl. No one really wanted to exercise properly because it’s too cold/wet/exercisey. We all love biscuits more than being thin yet we vowed to cut down on digestives. We promised, with our fingers crossed just in case. We owned our weaknesses, piggies, we owned them loud and proud and we were as determined as porky trough munchers can be, to aim for around 1lb a week weight loss.

And lo! Lazy Pig Club was born, hooray, and now we need a new thread. Let me know you’re here and how you’re doing, and new pigs are definitely more than welcome!!

Always remember our only rule and the LPC motto: “slowly, slowly - don’t make yourself sad”

😂 @Tiredanddistracted probably because I've not been choffing my face full of cheese, wine / gin or other Christmas goodies this week. I'll believe it if next week it's stuck

Haha, mate I was talking about me! I'm sure your weight loss is ironclad and 100% legit. Mine, on the other hand, can only be built on fairy farts and moonbeams.

Inchstonesbeatmilestones · 09/01/2024 19:54

Fairy farts and moonbeams...... I'm stealing that one 🤣

Colinthedaxi · 09/01/2024 20:02

Hello again, so January 2023 I was 154 lb, heaviest I've ever been, target was less than 140. Got to 142 (briefly) and then let it slip and was 147 on NYD this year. Now have two horses even though history tells me I don't have time or motivation to keep one in work - so my plan as soon as the nights get lighter is more riding, less time to snack.

BaconAndAvocado · 09/01/2024 20:13

Mañanarama

Yes, I read somewhere that as we get older, we have to choose between our body and our face.
Like you, I choose my face.

So, trying to follow more healthy eating habits I’ve been eating loads more fruit and veg and, as I’m trying out being veggie, more eggs.

Eating more healthy stuff is easy, eating less rubbish stuff isn’t......

EyesOnThePies · 09/01/2024 20:56

I took note that a few of the guinea pigs in the You Are What You Eat twins study that were on the vegan diet found it hard to eat enough food to get the calories they needed!

So I have had a nice vegan vegetable and butter bean stew. With a slice of sourdough, but no butter and no cheese today. And another no wine night. And going to bed at a decent hour. I stayed up too late last night and start to get peckish after midnight.

EyesOnThePies · 09/01/2024 20:59

So true. So so true. I am going cold turkey on sweet stuff for 4 days, to break the habit. Well, luke warm turkey, I did have a ginger biscuit this afternoon.

I love biscuits and won't cut them out completely.

Lower calorie biscuits (that I like) are Fruit Shortcake and Rich Tea.

Yes, I like the Nairns oat ginger biscuits, and they do fruit, and toffee, I think.

TheZeppo · 10/01/2024 17:19

Look at you lot and your weight losss!! Bravo!!!

I drank for the first time in a year on Friday and had my first hangover Sat 😂This meant the scales said 151.4! Yay!

then… hangover munchies and back to work (and rehydrating 😂) straight back to 155. Booo.

Im not dieting though! That’s the point isn’t it? Slowly, slowly, don’t make yourself sad…

I’m aiming for 140 by Dec 1st. I lost 24lbs overall last year (give or take!) so I already feel loadssss better.

happy troughing everyone!

Mañanarama · 10/01/2024 23:37

Do you know, now I think about it, biscuits is the ONE thing that I’ve successfully cut down on in the last year. I used to eat so many! I just stopped buying them, apart from the occasional nice shortbread.

I really really need to reduce sugars though, still got a fair bit of Lindt left so I need to eat all that and then focus. I’ve got a weekend with three meals booked end of January so should probably try to shift a bit of timber beforehand to offset it.

It’s realistically going to be February before I’m good, isn’t it? Well done to everyone by the way, we’re mainly doing great!

OP posts:
Inchstonesbeatmilestones · 11/01/2024 08:19

February will be here before you know it @Mañanarama . Plus, it's a shame to waste Lindt.... Should be a crime really!

I think the only way this way of life ( not diet) will work is if we don't suck the fun out of life by worrying about the odd meal out or Lindt. Just eat well the rest of the time, after all, isn't our mantra slowly slowly, don't make yourself sad 😁

EyesOnThePies · 11/01/2024 10:43

This morning:
Starting Weight minus 700g

That has encouraged me no end!

EyesOnThePies · 11/01/2024 16:30

And even eating vegan butter bean stew 2 nights in a row, with no wine, did not make me sad! Because it was tasty and filling and because I was watching good TV.

Mañanarama · 12/01/2024 00:00

Sounds good @EyesOnThePies! I ate decently well today then went for a walk then lay on the sofa and had a packet of Skips (air) and approx 8 Lindors. I’ve done worse, but going to bed feeling a bit porky, pardon the pun.

OP posts:
EyesOnThePies · 12/01/2024 00:13

Yeah, Skips are all puffed up with air.

A day of good eating is good. I always have some form of trough trouble. Today it was a gingerbready thing.

How on earth have you even got any Lindor left so long after Christmas?

Uh oh… you didn’t go out and re-stock did you?

EyesOnThePies · 13/01/2024 10:02

Good luck over the weekend!

Despite dinner last night being a pint and a half of beer, two packets of crisps and half a pizza I am another 100g down this morning! That’s 800g from starting weight, or 4 packs of (newly shrinkflated) butter in real money!

I was sensible during the day, had a good long brisk walk and had 4 wine-free nights.

EyesOnThePies · 15/01/2024 09:59

Happy Monday everyone!

How was the weekend? I had a bad panettone incident (it was LURKING) and then a brunch yesterday, but otherwise OK, and am resolved to have a week of nice healthier food that I enjoy.

A bowl of homemade tomato soup is defrosting for lunch, I am inordinately proud of this soup, made from an uncharacteristically successful tomato crop, and I am generally not good at either gardening or cooking.

Starting weight - 1Kg!
Despite losing 3 -nil in Pies v Panetonne

Inchstonesbeatmilestones · 16/01/2024 08:40

Morning oinksters,

Another 2.4lbs off for me today. Not quite sure how but I have tried to stop the evening choffing. Who knew, giving my mouth a rest works 😬🤣

Hope everyone else is doing ok 🐷

amberedover · 16/01/2024 11:12

😀Who knew, giving my mouth a rest works 😬🤣

Mañanarama · 17/01/2024 21:55

I’ve finished all the Lindt! I also just had loads of cheese and crackers. Fairly balanced, I reckon.

No chance of me losing weight when it’s this cold. I just want to eat and I’m not leaving the house, except to go to my mates for a takeaway on Friday. I’m just being realistic.

OP posts:
EyesOnThePies · 17/01/2024 23:51

Wow @Inchstonesbeatmilestones that’s impressive!

I have done OK so far this week, 2 days in, but it’s obvious that my scales just make up numbers. I weighed myself twice this morning and the second time I was 200g heavier. Nothing had gone in or out except air (I am suspicious of air however) and all I did was go downstairs, make coffee and carry it back up.

So more scales arriving but not til Saturday as I have cancelled Prime.

So I doubt I have lost a Kg and basically have no idea what I weigh.

@Mañanarama we do have to eat in the cold. It was all explained in that old Ready Brek ad. We eat a good big bowlful of something and then glow red with warmth.

Mañanarama · 14/04/2024 22:48

Well, you lot. I’m still doing shitly. Having gone from 10.11 to 10ish this time last year, with a couple of dips down to 9.12, I am currently larding in at 10st 7lbs post-poo pre-shower naked.

I’ve eaten well a lot during the holidays, and accidentally bought and troughed a load of half price Easter eggs, which surely hasn’t helped.

Thoughts and prayers, please, as I embark on a stricter regime as of tomorrow. I have roughly 100 days before I’m in a bikini.

Hope everyone else is doing significantly better.
