Thread 1: www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/4715040-lazy-pig-seeks-other-lazy-pigs-to-lose-1lb-a-week?page=1

We started on 9th January (ish) after we’d very heroically finished off the Christmas chocolate. We discussed our half-arsed plans to shift a bit of timber as we wafted our pudgy trotters vaguely towards the fruit bowl. No one really wanted to exercise properly because it’s too cold/wet/exercisey. We all love biscuits more than being thin yet we vowed to cut down on digestives. We promised, with our fingers crossed just in case. We owned our weaknesses, piggies, we owned them loud and proud and we were as determined as porky trough munchers can be, to aim for around 1lb a week weight loss.

And lo! Lazy Pig Club was born, hooray, and now we need a new thread. Let me know you’re here and how you’re doing, and new pigs are definitely more than welcome!!

Always remember our only rule and the LPC motto: “slowly, slowly - don’t make yourself sad”

I have a rare child free night, so this little piggy has gone out on the town ( well, plugged away in a corner)

I'm being good, sticking to the soft drinks whilst watching the other half drink two for one cocktails. Never realised how silly his face gets when he's tipsy 🤣

The sty has been closed for a few days. Those locked inside are being well behaved and eating vegetable scraps while the escapees eat their own body weight in not-vegetables, every day.

Or is it just me?

It’s not just you.
I’ve been freely feeding my sugar obsession and enjoying it immensely.
But it can’t go on... not really.
In the middle of DS2’s GCSEs...BUT on Monday I am going to aim to eat more healthily.
I am.

Mañanarama · 02/07/2023 10:41

Morning all, how are we all doing?

I’ve stayed about a pound either side of 10 stone for weeks and weeks now. Every time I have any fun at all (meal out, night out) I put 2 or 3lbs overnight on then spend the week trying to lose it again. Why can’t I just stay below 10, it’s sooo frustrating. Have I just hit my “easy” weight ?

OP posts:
TheZeppo · 02/07/2023 21:54

156.2

Bloody .2

.2 away from 20lb loss. A month late 😂

Colinthedaxi · 05/07/2023 07:24

Plod plod plod, started at 11 stone at New Year now 10.2. Would like to loose another half stone really but it’s going the right way, all be it very slowly!

Mañanarama · 06/07/2023 10:57

Hi Col and Zepp. Slowly slowly was the mantra but I didn’t think it’d be this slow!

I’ve dipped just below 10 again but cannot get to 9.12 for love nor money nor salad. Would really love to shimmy down to 9.10 before my holiday in a few weeks. Seems unlikely though!!

OP posts:
Mañanarama · 03/01/2024 20:49

Well. I’m pretty much at the same position as I was a year ago. Lost almost a stone in the first few months of our “plan” then yoyo’d either side of 10st until December. Today? 10st 7lbs. FFS. Stupid Christmas.

Any lazy pigs out there wanting to try again?

OP posts:
EyesOnThePies · 04/01/2024 00:03

I was just today wondering how things are in the sty and how to kickstart a bit of a post Christmas re-set.

Lindt get to you again @Mañanarama ? Damn their Swiss chocolateyness!

I have done OK over the summer and early autumn. But have spent the past two weeks headfirst in Christmas cake, cheese and port. But in a fit of recklessness booked an exercise class at the gym for next week. The first since whenever.

TheZeppo · 04/01/2024 06:18

Helllo!

Well, I started the year 176lbs and ended 154 (got to 151, but then life happened and everything was beyond shit for a while).

I also completed my year of sobriety!!

I still want to hit my target of 140. I want to be able to drink a bit this year, but that won’t help with Goal 1, so not much!

xmas weight is often water @Mañanarama so don’t be too cross with yourself.

hapoy the thread is back!

Mañanarama · 04/01/2024 21:26

Well done you two!! I felt like I’d done ok this year despite the elusive consistent-sub-10st… but yes, you know me well, I fell head first into the Lindt shop when I went Xmas shopping and it’s been downhill ever since. A few massive meals, several epic puddings and far too much booze over Xmas and I’ve undone it all. What a dick.

Love the idea it’s just water, Zeppo. Must wee more. Seriously though, I’m back on the “no carbs until teatime” diet but not anticipating much success until all the chocolate has gone.

OP posts:
Mañanarama · 04/01/2024 21:26

Hang on, a YEAR of sobriety?!

OP posts:
EyesOnThePies · 04/01/2024 22:39

A year off the drink is a fantastic achievement TheZeppo, well done.

My Festive Excess is almost certainly not water but 30% cake and mince pies 30% cheese, 30% wine and 30% Chocolate Reindeer (Lindt).

I am going to weigh tomorrow morning, but the new regime starts Monday.

Healthy breakfast, my template for a healthy lunch (NO MORE THAN ONE SLICE OF TOAST), good modest snack, normal dinner not too much carb, butter or cheese, 3 or 4 wine free nights a week . Back to the gym.

Aiming to lose 2lb a week.

Oh, back on the red grapefruit: good for my high ish cholesterol apparently.

I've just read this whole thread and I request, nay DEMAND, admittance to the sty. I feel I've found my people.

Demand accepted, you’re in!

Have you read thread 1 as well? There were some brilliant ideas and tips (and also some appalling ones) and the slowly slowly plan worked for quite a few people. I imagine they’re all skinny now, probably also rich from saving money on biscuits. One day it shall be meeeee…

Tiredanddistracted · 05/01/2024 00:04

Yes! My porcine brethren!

I'll nip over and read it tomorrow - thank you!

TheZeppo · 05/01/2024 07:20

Yes, a whole flipping YEAR without wine! If you knew me in real
life you’d be even more astounded. Wine is my Lindt 😂

Like the plan @EyesOnThePies and also no carbs before dinner!

welcome @Tiredanddistracted 😊

I am having this weekend off- first drink, last of the Xmas crisps and a big fat takeaway. 2024 really starts on Monday!

BaconAndAvocado · 05/01/2024 08:08

Morning Porkers!

I'm really in 2 minds about re-entering the sty, friendly and cosy animal enclosure though it is.

I’m 54, menopausal and gave done a lot of thinking.
I’ve spent all my adult life scrutinising and worrying about what I’m eating and I’ve had enough!!

I’ve never been overweight, BMI always in the healthy range but I’ve still managed to waste time berating myself and so sabotaging my well-being.

Instead of weight on the scales, I’m going to focus on my overall health, both physical and mental.

I gave up alcohol about 6 months ago and feel loads better for it.
I’m trying out being pescatarian and cutting down on processed foods.

Diets DO NOT WORK!
It’s developing sustainable, realistic eating and exercise habits that work and that’s what I’m going to (try and) do.

So I won’t be weighing in and despairing over gaining a pound as I have for so many years.

The chocolates, mince pies and fancy cheeses have gone (down my gullet), so it’s best trotter forward but, for me, without the associated angst.

Inchstonesbeatmilestones · 05/01/2024 08:49

Morning sty mates,

I'd like to rejoin the sty too please. Spent most of last year messing around and pretending to be on a diet.

So far this year I've been using the mantra of " do I want to eat that more than I want to lose weight" and it seems to be working. The few pounds I put on over Christmas are gone but could just have been water weight.

This year for me is stop pretending and start doing - no excuses, no getting bored and no giving up when I don't lose weight one week (trying to accept those annoying scale fluctuations instead of letting it demotivate me)🐖

That's what I'm doing too. No calorie counting, no portion size worrying, no big diet plan, just cutting down on ultra processed foods and keeping a lid on sugar. Eating for health rather than weight loss.

If the weight comes along with it, then great. If not, no worries. I'll deal with it later once I'm used to this whole way of eating.

Yes, this!

I just read my previous post… big typo, I certainly am NOT aiming to shed 2lbs a week. 1lb.

Bacon (and avocado), I lost 3st during lockdown (may 20 - Jan 21) simply by adjusting to a healthier eating and exercise habit. For me, Diet No, no, but a framework, yes. And this has mostly worked for the last 3 years.

I am checking in to the sty to re-set and lose 3Kg that has crept round the edges of the framework.

No misery, eat nice food that I enjoy, think of it as nurturing my health and feel good about it! That’s my mantra, for me.

But I do weigh during a reset to give me an idea of what is maintenance and what is lower.

Today: target minus zero

BaconAndAvocado · 05/01/2024 11:59

EyesOnThePies

I also lost weight and got fitter during lockdown.
I had more time to exercise (running) and to make healthier dinners. I discovered HelloFresh an Gousto which have been game changers.

I have a friend who, due to serious health issues, decided to eat more “cleanly”.
She cut out ultra-processed foods, sugar, alcohol, red meat, only eats free range chicken, hugely upped her vegetable intake.
She didn’t calorie count because, although she was a bit overweight, the aim wasn’t to lose weight but to improve her overall health as much as was in her control.
After only a few weeks she felt 100% better, her skin glowed and yes, she lost tonnes of weight.

Realistically, I know I’ll be unhappy if I cut out sugar completely but I’m going to try and cut down.

Also going to focus on my mental health this year. This can have a massive effect on our health and is something I don’t feel is prioritised enough.

Inchstonesbeatmilestones · 09/01/2024 08:26

Morning sty mates,

Hope everyone is staying nice and toasty. It's bloody freezing today 🥶.

Weigh day for me today and somehow I've managed to lose 5.2 lbs. I'll take that 😁

Now I just have to continue and not do what I usually do and think, I've lost some, I'll relax a bit!

Mañanarama · 09/01/2024 10:03

I’ve shifted 4lbs too, maybe it was all water (diluted with that new fangled white amaretto) after all.

I think those of you who’ve said we need to go easy on ourselves, bodies and minds, is right. We’re getting older, and our metabolisms aren’t what they were. I’d still like to get, and stay, below 10 stone but I’ve accepted I’ll never be nearer 9 again.

I saw an old mate who’s been on a severe health kick since I last saw her a couple of years ago. I kid you not her bod looks great, but her face? Dear god she’s aged a decade, and more. Deep deep lines everywhere. I definitely do not want that.

Onwards and downwards!

OP posts:
EyesOnThePies · 09/01/2024 10:40

4lbs is VERY encouraging @Mañanarama !

So yesterday I did manage not to eat any of the choc, biscuits or gingerbready things that are waiting to pounce on me in the kitchen. Did eat 3 good meals but WAY too much bread because I bought a sourdough loaf in the St John bakery in Covent Garden.

Oh, no wine, either. I know that shouldn’t be counted as an achievement but I do like one glass of red… bottle stays in the rack!

I watched that Netflix series ‘You Are What You Eat’, which boosted by ‘be healthier’ impetus.

And as Oinksters should well and truly put us off eating our piggy sty friends!

Tiredanddistracted · 09/01/2024 18:12

5lb off in a week. I don't trust it...
