Starting a new thread as we are dangerously close to finishing thread two. So great to have this supportive community to share our experiences of taking Ozempic for weightloss.

"Old-timers" and new starters all welcome!

Welcome to Ozempic!

Nothing ‘wrong’ with the wholemeal toast (I dislike the practice of attaching a moral value to foods and don’t believe any foods are bad or good in themselves) but I have a suggestion for you.

Having something more filling like oats (or even protein oats to smash it out of the park!) or something where most of the energy comes from protein will keep you fuller for longer. You’re gurgly because there just isn’t enough ‘stuff’ in your tummy for the amount of acid that we have swishing around.

Just a thought. Have a great day x

I appreciate the advice - thank you! I do actually love porridge so that works for me. I thought it would be too stodgy though!

I had the last two questionable slices of bread and I'm waiting for my Ocado delivery... Which isn't looking too great with all the snow we've got here in Shropshire.

I've got lots of protein yogurts and 'stuff' on my shop. Tofu, avocados, basically anything that said Protein on the pack that was also vegetarian.

Hi everyone, can I join?

I’m currently taking saxenda and hoping to switch to ozempic for cost reasons. Can anyone recommend cheapest supplier? I am currently completing a consultation for quick meds so if anyone has a discount code for that I’d be grateful!

thanks!

I used manual as it seemed to be the cheapest starting offer at £129 I think it was. But then it goes up to £199.

Have a referral code for manual you're more than welcome to use: manual.co/r/U-1qbXdfXfxm

Not sure on the rules for sharing codes on here, hopefully it's allowed.

@Lavendersquare I'm not but I'm unsure how much is my willpower and how much is Ozempic. Presumably a bit of both?!

@hereforthegin if only it required no effort right?!

I know, if only! I go to the gym 3 X per week but I'm prediabetic and stress eat like you wouldn't believe.

PSNonsense · 09/03/2023 11:51

Just a head's up that Manual's initial pen is £129 with a code that a couple of PP's have posted. I've just went to cancel (as was planning on getting future pens cheaper elsewhere) and they give you an offer of £178 to continue instead of £199z For anyone thinking of using Manual. I'm planning to start mine Sunday evening.

alwayssocomplicated · 09/03/2023 12:41

Has anyone experienced bad acne and thinks there is a connection?

I do suffer from acne but have recently got cyst like spots which is new for me.

I'm hoping it is not related.

RichTeaCheddars · 09/03/2023 13:08

Just received my first pen! Need to decide when I take my first dose. This evening or tomorrow, or Saturday.
Maybe early this evening.

Abeachsomewhere · 09/03/2023 13:32

Not having a good last week despite being on 1mg. I can see myself needing to move to a higher dose when Wegovy is available. I’m hoping that this week is just a blip and I can get back on track when I take my next dose on Saturday.

The good news is that I saw someone for the first time in a few months and he instantly noticed that I have lost “a lot” of weight, so that made me feel great!

Hotelfoxtrot · 09/03/2023 13:34

Thanks to those of you who replied, I ended up going with quick meds as it doesn’t go up in price like manual.

Has anyone else switched from saxenda to ozempic? I’m wondering how to work out dosing, do I start ozempic the day after my final dose of saxenda or leave a gap…?

MaireadMcSweeney · 09/03/2023 13:42

I am reflecting on this journey after being on it for 10 weeks and being on 1mg for a few weeks. The first couple of times the appetite suppression waned I started over eating and then brought forward my next dose out of anxiety that it was all going wrong. I was splitting doses to try to maintain a steady effect. After doing that for 8 weeks I decided to stop messing about (also spurred by reading it takes 4-6 weeks to reach steady state in the system) and moved to 1mg.
the appetite suppressant effects are definitely reduced. I can finish my meals without feeling sick, I could snack if I chose to. But I'm not choosing to. Choosing to wait til the next meal time or have a smaller meal or not eat sugar is definitely a choice but one that doesn't feel conflicted or stressful or like I am depriving myself. So the effects are ongoing, but changing. My blood sugar is steady and hopefully my insulin production is normal. This makes good food choices so much easier.
I had hoped at the beginning that ozempic would do the hard bit for me, and it kind of is, but there is more choice involved than I expected and that's ok, it's good! I don't want to do this for months and months and I want to maintain the weight loss. Making good choices feels great.

Coconut80 · 09/03/2023 13:57

Hi there I have taken the plunge and ordered the pen. Can I ask ladies do you still eat breakfast, lunch and dinner as normal but just can manage a lesser amount of food? Thankyou x

MiniCooperLover · 09/03/2023 14:08

Hi there Coconut80, yes I do. I make much smaller portions and they seem to be doing me just fine.

Coconut80 · 09/03/2023 14:58

@MiniCooperLover great thankyou that sounds like what I will try to do I'm excited to get started x

MaryPoppinjay · 09/03/2023 14:58

@Coconut80 i typically skip breakfast and follow the 16:8 fast. So start the day around noon/1pm with poached eggs and either toast/avo/ham then not hungry again until about 6 when I have a fairly light supper. Before this on lower dose (now on 1mg) I was just eating when I felt like it still but smaller amounts - it didn’t shift any weight. It was only when I started being quite strict with times and logging food to stay under 1200/1300 calories did the weight start to slowly move down. Obviously this is different for everybody but as previous posters have said you do still have to be mindful of calories/macros when using Oz long term.

I do get a gurgle in my tummy in the am and feel a little sick sometimes but a Rennie sorts that out pretty quickly.

themuminator · 09/03/2023 15:01

@Coconut80 I also try to eat normal meals. Usually, porridge for breakfast. I can't manage to eat the same portion size as before though, so make a smaller bowl.
Lunch is something light like soup with a piece of toast if I can manage it. Or an egg on a slice of toast with avocado.
Dinner is much lighter than I would usually have. Often I can't manage anywhere near the portion size of carbs I would normally have. So I make more veggies and have those in place of the carbs.

I don't snack at all now. The urge to eat sugary or high fat snacks has gone. My son waved some maltesers in front of me the other day and I had about 4 before wanting to stop. (This is not usual behaviour!)

I would actually be able to go without some meals but I make myself eat sensibly. Cutting entire meals is not sensible and I want to maintain this loss slowly over a long period. Also, I've been anorexic in the distant past I am very careful to monitor myself. It is about retraining for when I hopefully reach goal and stop the meds.

Metallic mouth taste is a bit weird. I need to drink more water now and less cups of tea.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 09/03/2023 16:19

Lots of speculation in the newspapers today that Wegovy or one of the other drugs in development will be widely available on the NHS ‘to get people back to work’ and therefore increase tax income. I would have thought it would be cost effective in money saved by the NHS in treating complications of obesity but no mention of that.

MaireadMcSweeney · 09/03/2023 16:26

Apparently jack Monroe was on the radio today talking about semaglutides and the government reducing the benefits bill. Which is just 😐

Anyone got experience with Rybelsus?

Yes yuck horrible and expensive (well it was at the time that Ozempic was out of stock obviously). Best off with diet and exercise.

Obviously it IS Ozempic. I mean when the injection was out of stock. X

HermioneWeasley · 09/03/2023 18:27

Has anyone else had a PM from what seems to be a journalist asking if you’re interested in talking about your experiences of using Ozempic?

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 09/03/2023 18:41

So, I'm 24hrs in now.

Lunch was fine, ate a very high protein meal.

I've been out for tea tonight and picked what I fancied, which was a starter portion of pulled pork Mac and cheese.

It was served in a cappuccino type cup, so really wasn't very big at all but I think it just must have been too fatty - I'm having heart palpitations and feel sick. I thought because it was so small I would be ok!

Lesson learnt. Until now I'd had no side effects.

iwantthatbaar · 09/03/2023 18:51

@Coconut80 I'm also doing 16:8 so I typically don't have anything (other than water, black tea/coffee) until around noon. I'm also trying to stay within 1300 calories a day. I try to cut carbs for the 16:8 anyway as I find it helps with the cravings, but it's tricky to tell what's ozempic-effect and what's low carb-effect... I think ozempic is helping a bit with the snack-distraction as I'd often find I'm preoccupied by how hungry I am and this has def lessened.
I'm 2.5kg down in 10days so I expect this will slow significantly.

iwantthatbaar · 09/03/2023 18:52

Just to add, i def felt less hungry week 1 than this week
