I thought I’d start a new thread to follow my journey, the other one doesn’t seem very active. During lockdown, I lost 2 stone but since life has regained pace again, it’s gone up by 3 and a half stone. I just have no control over my eating habits anymore.

I binge, I fast, I feel incredibly unhappy and I use food as my crutch. I do exercise four times a week but the weight just doesn’t shift because I’m eating too much

In the next 12 months, I am hoping to be able to have a child as a solo parent by choice and I know the only way to do that is to lose some weight and keep it off.

Today is the day. I injected this morning after much apprehension and it was fine ! I didn’t even feel it. So far so good, no side effects but im sure they’ll come after a few days.

I’ll keep this thread updated with the good, the bad and the ugly ! Feel free to join with your own experiences.

How are people managing to get this? Please share links 😃

frostyfeb · 15/03/2023 23:38

@winterchills just through the pharmacies who have an online doctor boots / Superdrug

TurnipSurprise · 16/03/2023 06:40

@sleepwouldbenice when I started I was using that logic but I really struggled. I would feel sick all day and be unable to eat at all. I had a bit of a funny turn - it was in the summer baking hot and I hadn't eaten much for a few days.

I decided to switch to night time injections and it's revolutionary. I get very little nausea now and the appetite suppressant wears off enough that I am able to eat a sensible dinner, I still feel quicker sooner so am able to regulate my portion. With morning injections I couldn't force myself to eat at all.

Everyone finds their own sweet spot but it made a real difference to me.

sleepwouldbenice · 16/03/2023 10:45

Thank you. I will start with evenings see how it goes!

TurnipSurprise · 16/03/2023 11:23

Good luck!

Pointblank2 · 16/03/2023 18:24

I did my online form with pharmacy2u a few days ago but it’s not been reviewed yet. I had a discount code so that’s why I went with them. Not happy with the amount of time it’s taking though.

where do you purchase this from and what is the price, it would help enormously if I could get this at the cheapest possible price.
thanks

Soloparenthelp · 17/03/2023 10:20

Hi all. Sorry I’ve been slammed with work the last couple of weeks. I’m a bit lost with how much I’ve lost but I am now 12 lbs down since the start of January so I’m really happy with that !

How is everyone?

I find weekends so hard!, making the kids pizza and would love nothing better than a big pizza for dinner instead of a boring chicken breast and veg!

But keeping focused on the weight loss and hopefully a slice of cake for Mother's Day

sleepwouldbenice · 20/03/2023 18:58

First injection done last night
Easy to do thankfully so should be easy to keep going
Bit queasy and tired, appetite reduced a little
I am just hoping the queasiness doesn't lead to more cards/ crisos being eaten!
Going to start on chewing gum
Here's to losing 2 stone.....

frostyfeb · 20/03/2023 19:24

@sleepwouldbenice Good luck ! I seem to chew gum constantly at the moment 😂

Hey all. I'm about 5 weeks into my Saxenda journey. 12lbs lost, have never went above 1.2mg dosage per day.

I've taken the decision to stop any more doses, despite having a pen left. I've noticed a marked change in my mental health since starting. Depression & anxiety have got very bad despite it not normally being a concern for me. The only time I have experienced this in the past is with hormonal birth control, so I think I must be quite succeptible to the chemical changes.

Fingers crossed I can keep it going on my own.

Well done for what you have achieved but absolutely the right decision for you and thanks for flagging as it's important to know

MorrisZapp · 22/03/2023 12:46

I haven't lost anything yet but I'm still on 1.2.

frostyfeb · 22/03/2023 19:12

@MorrisZapp

How long have you been on it now ? Have you felt the effects on your appetite?

After 4 weeks I am on 20lb loss (starting weight was 17st)

Im really pleased, and still on 1.8 dose. Just ordered my second lot of pens.

I've been really lucky as side effects have been ok. A bit of constipation, also a bad stomach cramps at weekend but I ate when I didn't want to quite a rich breakfast for Mother's Day, despite only having a quarter of it, it really disagreed with me,

frostyfeb · 25/03/2023 09:24

Everyone has been really quiet Smile

How is everyone and how is your journey going.

HarpQuartet · 25/03/2023 15:36

I've been doing it for a week but my brain isn't really joining in with my body. I'm stress eating and still buying biscuits instead of committing to being a grown up about it.

sleepwouldbenice · 25/03/2023 18:45

Hi
I am a week in
Appetite v much reduced. Its very weird sitting here, having only had 2 small pieces of toast and a pear today and my tummy is only just rumbling
Overall probably eating half of what I usually do
Some quesiness at first, and headaches, suspect this may happen each time I up my dose
Pleased that I don't want sweet stuff at all
My only concern is the queasiness can put me off fruit etc so still proportionately, eating too many carbs needs to think that through

HarpQuartet · 26/03/2023 09:54

A new day, just been to gym, now Tesco where I will stick to my list. Am going to log what I eat. I imagine a future where all of this is natural instead of hard-won!

@HarpQuartet - Biscuits are tricky aren't they - I've bought Lotus biscuits individually wrapped in packs of 2 to try to help me with that.

HarpQuartet · 26/03/2023 11:54

@Furball I can only really cope by avoiding them completely at the moment. I'm a bit "all or nothing". Just been prepping lunches for the next couple of days, which feels good. I know how to "do" the good habits, I feel like I'm using Saxenda as a way of keeping me on the straight and narrow. If I'm not hungry then I can switch to chewing gum for stressful moments, typically at work.

Furball · 26/03/2023 11:56

@HarpQuartet - ooh prepping lunches is a good idea! Might have a look into giving it a go

HarpQuartet · 26/03/2023 12:06

@Furball I don't mind lots of repetition, so I've just chopped up tomatoes, cucumber and beetroot, and today I'll have that with salmon and coleslaw, then at work tomorrow and Tuesday I'll have it with some dhal I'm just defrosting now. We have a fridge and microwave at work. The less "freestyling" I have to do, the happier my stomach will be, and it reduces decision-making. It can just be a bit tiresome at the start. Are you eating meals similar to pre-Saxenda or has your appetite dropped dramatically? Sorry if you've already said up- thread.

Furball · 26/03/2023 12:11

@HarpQuartet - I only started Wednesday - BUT my appetite is really reduced. I feel like I've eaten a massive christmas dinner most of the time, which is obviously good for the cause!

HarpQuartet · 26/03/2023 12:17

@furball that's great! I started about ten days ago but had an interruption of a few days - we went away and I chose to skip it for a day, and it was so nice not feeling queasy that I skipped another day and another... But have restarted this morning.

Furball · 26/03/2023 12:21

@HarpQuartet - I took some travel sick pills to help with the nausea
