I thought I’d start a new thread to follow my journey, the other one doesn’t seem very active. During lockdown, I lost 2 stone but since life has regained pace again, it’s gone up by 3 and a half stone. I just have no control over my eating habits anymore.

I binge, I fast, I feel incredibly unhappy and I use food as my crutch. I do exercise four times a week but the weight just doesn’t shift because I’m eating too much

In the next 12 months, I am hoping to be able to have a child as a solo parent by choice and I know the only way to do that is to lose some weight and keep it off.

Today is the day. I injected this morning after much apprehension and it was fine ! I didn’t even feel it. So far so good, no side effects but im sure they’ll come after a few days.

I’ll keep this thread updated with the good, the bad and the ugly ! Feel free to join with your own experiences.

@BonnieBairn Hi, well done on joining the gym, let us know how it goes. I'm not brave enough yet. I have only just started on Saxenda because I kept procrastinating I had lots of reasonable reasons to stall. I am day 4. I am not weighing in for a few more days. I don't know if it is having an effect or not to be honest but it's very early days. I often like wine in the evening, but have been trying to avoid for the first bit of the week anyway so am not really craving it anyway. Thursday may be a different story!

AngryAngel · 17/04/2023 20:34

Is anybody else peeing like crazy (sorry if tmi). I'm only early days but...

sleepwouldbenice · 18/04/2023 00:11

Hi all
Just checking in
4 weeks and one stone down
I am happy with that
Would like to lose another over next 6 weeks
I have felt slightly queasy and this is stopping me eat as much fruit as I would like, too carb based
Going to try to work on this next
Well done to all and welcome aboard to some!

BonnieBairn · 18/04/2023 06:48

@AngryAngel thank you! Fingers crossed for a loss for you. I guess I'm just worried that this won't work ☹️ I've enjoyed my gym sessions so far it's the making it routine I struggle with so just need to keep plugging away, easier now the kids are back at school and the normal routine is back. I go on holiday in 10wks time and would love to be a stone lighter.

Worked for me so far!
It's so weird not being hungry

BonnieBairn · 19/04/2023 10:16

My prescription arrived this morning so I will be starting tonight 😬

AngryAngel · 19/04/2023 12:57

Anyone else having really vivid dreams? Anyone else needing to pee all the time? (Maybe that second one has nothing to do with it, but it does seem coincidental!) Anyone else not craving their morning coffee like usual?

frostyfeb · 19/04/2023 17:56

Hello everyone sorry not been on for a while - life has been stressful, probably just the school Easter holidays and amount of chocolate around GrinGrinGrin

But things are still progressing, even though I have had a couple of days off sax as we went away.

But week 8 weigh in and lost 2st 2lbs.
Only another 5 to go, actually I would be so happy with just another 4z

By having a controlled appetite I can make much better food choices which is amazing. I am on 2.4 dose and do worry about the cost when I need to go up to 3.

But fitting into clothes I was wearing before and that feels comfortable. Also bought a new dress when I hit 2 stone and had lots of nice comments which really encourages me.

frostyfeb · 19/04/2023 17:57

@AngryAngel yes yes yes - my dreams are so vivid and strange at the moment, I wake up exhausted 😂

AngryAngel · 19/04/2023 18:28

@frostyfeb that is a brilliant loss! Well done! My dreams are very detailed, I'm trying to remember them because they are quite funny. Lots of zombie ones. Getting lost in big dark buildings. Trying to find a loo. 😂I tried a protein shake for lunch today and didn't feel hard done by (which I would have done otherwise). I'm not sure if it is better psychologically to try and stick to actual food in much smaller portions. It probably doesn't matter at this stage. I am yearning for a glass of wine for later this evening which is almost certainly just bad habit. I need to retrain my "hump day" reward expectations! @BonnieBairn yay on your first shot tonight, I was unnecessarily worried about the actual injection bit. I actually don't feel it at all. Now I just plonk it in and crack on.

sleepwouldbenice · 19/04/2023 23:55

@frostyfeb
Amazing stuff
Hope I get that far
Planning another month / 6 weeks
Then might keep a pen for if I need another boost

Currently on 1.8 I do need to move to 2.4

Saxendastarter · 24/04/2023 07:51

@frostyfeb How's it going ? I hadn't see this so started another thread.
We're about the same starting weight so reading your journey has been really inspirational for me and is giving me hope and will power!

ConfessionsOfAChocoholic · 24/04/2023 21:41

Hi folks, so I done my first jag tonight and hope you don't mind me joining the thread. Amazing losses, really hoping for the same myself.

I've steadily put on weight after losing 2 stone a few years ago. Now at my heaviest and hoping sax can help me with portion control and change my relationship with food.

I'm probably different as I am male. Just over 6ft and weigh 19st, so pretty big, but really don't want that number to rise any higher. My biggest challenge is the night time snacking, even when I'm not hungry I could sit down with a coffee and eat my way though a packet of biscuits. Major sweet tooth, as the user name suggests.

Bloodylovecrisps · 26/04/2023 07:22

Hey all, I am back on Sax today after having to stop it several weeks ago due to horrendous sickness on it. It made me take time off work and miss my kids activities etc so I couldn't keep it up. I now have antisickness medication to take whenever I feel the warning signs and I'm hoping this could be the answer to my weight loss woes! Fingers crossed 🤞

Namechange602 · 27/04/2023 08:25

Celebrations here today - it's exactly one month since I started and I've just hit a one stone loss. Actually, one stone and one pound which was a nice surprise on the scales this morning!

After zipping along quite nicely, I did find that the last few pounds of that have been hard going with fluctuations up and down that felt more than normal daily variation (at the moment I'm still weighing daily).

Looking at weight loss and the record of my doses I think that higher doses might not be working for me - I get a lot of nausea and so end up drinking tea and eating toast as I can't stomach much else. On a lower dose the 16:8 fasting, with fruit and a bit of cheese for lunch then chicken or salmon on an omelette for dinner with salad or veg, seems to work better in terms of weight loss and is obviously much healthier.

For the last few days I've dropped down to .9 (.6 plus five clicks) and eaten better and the last couple of pounds to get me below a stone have dropped off. I'm not sure whether that works with the scientific research but it's working for me and so I might stick with that for a bit and see if it carries on like that.

How's everyone else finding it? And good luck x

AngryAngel · 27/04/2023 09:14

Coming up to two weeks in and I have lost 5lbs. To be completely honest, I haven't felt very different on it. Less craving for sure, but I still have to work hard to keep away from the pizza and wine. I didn't expect it to be a magic bullet but wondering if it has different effects on different people. Also, I have had very little by way of side effects apart from strange dreams and a constant need to pee. Currently at 1.2. Very grateful for (so far) not having any nausea or unpleasantness.

AngryAngel · 27/04/2023 09:17

As an aside, has anyone noticed how many things pop up in their inbox about food that we could really do without right now? Offers from Just Eat, Pizza Express, Dominos, Costa, even flipping Hello Fresh! Or maybe it's just my very predictable algorithm. 😁

Namechange602 · 27/04/2023 09:42

@AngryAngel

Coming up to two weeks in and I have lost 5lbs. To be completely honest, I haven't felt very different on it. Less craving for sure, but I still have to work hard to keep away from the pizza and wine.

Weirdly, I immediately lost any interest in wine which has undoubtedly helped, but my husband's home made pizza at the weekend is a tough one - I tell myself I'll just eat half but it's lovely and the dough is perfect and so I end up eating all of it... No real appetite for chocolate either - I had a choc biscuit the other day as a treat and it was so sickly I couldn't finish it. That's unheard of!

ConfessionsOfAChocoholic · 27/04/2023 14:47

I've managed to majorly cut down on what I eat and drink. I would have had 2 or 3 cans of coke everyday, biscuits, bars of chocolate, and 3 sugars in my coffees. First couple of days have been more difficult, but think it might be my body getting used to the massive reduction in sugar.

I need to learn what it's like to feel hungry (and full) because I have got so used to snacking all day that I've forgotten what it's like to eat intermittently.

Currently had little side effects but only done 3 jags at 0.6, sounds like side effects can ramp up as dose increases (as well as cost!)

AngryAngel · 27/04/2023 19:29

Home made pizza is to die for @Namechange602 . I hear you. It's probably healthier than the takeaway version though. I'm not that bothered about the sweet stuff as the savoury as much but can turbo my way through a packet of dry biscuits without thinking. @ConfessionsOfAChocoholic you are doing well there with cutting down on sugar. I'm honestly not feeling any side effects at 1.2 and was really expecting to. Beginning to wonder if I have a placebo batch!

HarpQuartet · 30/04/2023 08:57

Apologies, I asked a question a while back and then didn't come back on to say thank you for replying. I was busy self-sabotaging but am here now with renewed intentions. In a month of taking Saxenda sporadically I have lost 2.5kg, which feels more than fair given my half-arsed efforts.

electriclight · 30/04/2023 09:54

I am so pleased to find this thread and hope it's ok if I tag along. I am on my fourth week and am at 1.8 dose. It has been amazing for me - no appetite at all, and no side effects either. Mostly what I am worried about now is what I will do when my bmi is below 30 and they stop prescribing! Ideally I'd want to stay on until I am in the healthy weight range.

Pointblank2 · 30/04/2023 18:46

@electriclight I worry about this too. Am planning to do a 5 pen order whilst bmi just over 30. Also hoping that by the time I get to that point my eating habits will have changed and ultimately I won’t need saxenda after the final pens. I’ve just read the Why we eat so much book and I’m going to start eating to try and change my weight set point. The things the book talked about the body trying it’s best to make you gain weight after a diet really resonated with me

AngryAngel · 02/05/2023 12:25

Oh @Pointblank2 I have just got that book it looks interesting. I tried the audible sample and the voice was too irritating! So have the kindle version instead. @electriclight I thought they tend to prescribe the pens over a long period so would be unlikely to stop prescribing them once you are under bmi 30? Or have I got that wrong? Otherwise I can't see how it would make sense, stopping the programme before the full weightloss kicks in? I am now up to 1.8mg. The appetite has definitely decreased thank goodness. Still no side effects though. Went out at the weekend and put quite a lot of booze away and absolutely fine. Beginning to think my insides are made of teflon.

ConfessionsOfAChocoholic · 02/05/2023 20:47

I'm around 5 pound down after 8 days. Have to say, I'm not finding it as easy as I did in first few days, my appetite seems to be returning quicker now I am at 1.2 a jag. Although I am still trying to adjust my meal schedule and get that water intake up, so I'll just call it teething problems.
