I thought I’d start a new thread to follow my journey, the other one doesn’t seem very active. During lockdown, I lost 2 stone but since life has regained pace again, it’s gone up by 3 and a half stone. I just have no control over my eating habits anymore.

I binge, I fast, I feel incredibly unhappy and I use food as my crutch. I do exercise four times a week but the weight just doesn’t shift because I’m eating too much

In the next 12 months, I am hoping to be able to have a child as a solo parent by choice and I know the only way to do that is to lose some weight and keep it off.

Today is the day. I injected this morning after much apprehension and it was fine ! I didn’t even feel it. So far so good, no side effects but im sure they’ll come after a few days.

I’ll keep this thread updated with the good, the bad and the ugly ! Feel free to join with your own experiences.

Oh @Pointblank2 I have just got that book it looks interesting. I tried the audible sample and the voice was too irritating! So have the kindle version instead. @electriclight I thought they tend to prescribe the pens over a long period so would be unlikely to stop prescribing them once you are under bmi 30? Or have I got that wrong? Otherwise I can't see how it would make sense, stopping the programme before the full weightloss kicks in? I am now up to 1.8mg. The appetite has definitely decreased thank goodness. Still no side effects though. Went out at the weekend and put quite a lot of booze away and absolutely fine. Beginning to think my insides are made of teflon.

I'm not sure. I was in a support group on sm for a little while and there were lots of people saying they couldn't get a private prescription once their bmi was below 30. Some people were stocking up in advance when they were very close to 30, some people were lying about their weight. I haven't given it too much thought as still early days for me but I'm so happy with it.

Lisakez81 · 11/05/2023 18:32

I started Saxenda today too. So far no effects or changes

UserL95 · 11/05/2023 18:49

Day 2 for me!
havent noticed much change yet in terms of appetite, but I used to plan my meals a lot and think I “should” eat so trying to break out of this habit.
no side effects touch wood
hoping to lose 17kg!!!
does any one have any tips to optimise outcomes?
I try to be active 3/4 times a week with gym or swim and go for walks around every other day too

ConfessionsOfAChocoholic · 13/05/2023 17:37

@UserL95 I hope to lose the same. I'm sure with walking and gym you will get there.

To be honest I don't have much of an appetite now and I'm on 1.8 jag now. The appetite loss isn't even a negative, I'm glad I have reduced my sugar intake and cut out my 3 cans of coke a day.

I've had no side effects and am just approaching the end of week 3. When the pharmacist weighed me I was 121kg, but that was at end of day, so maybe not accurate, I am now 115kg, so around 1 stone in 3 weeks. I have a lot to lose and am barely eating much these days.

AngryAngel · 24/05/2023 10:53

Thought I would put a wee catch up here, have been lingering too much on the other active Saxenda thread. 😄Well I am 5/6 weeks in and here are the results from the Angel jury so far: I had little to no side effects apart from wanting to pee a lot and strange dreams. I also, remarkably still have a notable appetite, despite now being on 2.4. I will up the dose from tomorrow. I have lost 10lbs and I'll be honest I was hoping for more, but this is not a magic jag. I find it interesting that it clearly has different effects on different people. Our metabolisms must all be so varied. I was worried about nausea, but none whatsoever. I presume this is linked to the fact that I seem to have retained my usual troublesome appetite, albeit slightly reduced from the usual stampede like hunger. It has made me ponder too about my approach to food. Is my craving actual hunger? What am I actually craving? Am I just bored? Is this just habit? Hey OP are you still around? How are you doing?

Ashwater · 24/05/2023 15:03

Hi all I thought I’d give an update on where I’m at too. I’ve been using Sax for 3 months now, and am currently on a 1.8 dose.

I moved up about a week ago as 1.2 didn’t feel as effective after a month or so. Since moving up I’ve started experiencing side effects such as heart burn and nausea. But nothing a few rennie and lots of water doesn’t fix.

I’ve lost a total of 24lbs in 3 months (with a week off) which I’m pleased with though the rate at which I’m losing has slowed. I have a final batch of pens before I go it alone!

I hope everyone is doing well.

Lisakez81 · 24/05/2023 16:49

Thanks for the reply. I'm upping to 1.8ml tomorrow lost 8lbs but feel hungier today. Other than that no side effects. I do get fuller quicker and I'm trying to drink more water too. Maybe not going to the loo as often too x

ConfessionsOfAChocoholic · 25/05/2023 21:24

Hi all, I'm 114kg now, so 7kg down from starting weight and in week 5.

Has anyone missed a few jags then returned to same level, without dropping down? The advice is to restart, but that seems ridiculous. Pharmacy couldn't fulfil my order, apparently there are some issues with sourcing it, and I see boots online are out of stock. I only have one dose left and pharmacy let me down so trying to get more, but could mean I miss 4 days before delivery possible.

Asda pharmacy have it in stock online and next day delivery, but that will be mean Wednesday for delivery I think now due to the bank holiday?

Sotiredmjmmy · 25/05/2023 23:50

Could you drop down the dosage and stretch out what you have left over a few days rather than stopping entirely?

Lisakez81 · 26/05/2023 07:55

I got mine from Lloyd's pharmacy but asda pharmacy had stock. My froend just got hers through private doc but was more expensive x

ConfessionsOfAChocoholic · 26/05/2023 09:45

So the very helpful woman that I spoke to on Wednesday has just called me to advise that my prescription is available to collect. No idea what her colleague was talking about yesterday. Oh well, saves me a headache.

ConfessionsOfAChocoholic · 09/06/2023 17:50

Just thought I would update. I've reached maintenance dose of 3ml but have found I suffer really bad side effects - bloating, gas and sickness, happening everyday now so have been advised to stop taking immediately. No problems on lower dose, so this is unfortunate. Hoping I can kick on myself and continue the weightloss journey without Saxenda.

Since 23rd April I have lost between 15 and 20 lbs.

Lisakez81 · 10/06/2023 18:07

Oh no! I was ment to up to 3ml Thursday gone but was worrying my new pens wouldn't come in time so I might up it in next couple of days when I start new pen. I've now lost 13lbs in 4.5 weeks x

ConfessionsOfAChocoholic · 10/06/2023 21:16

Well done on the loss. I'm a bit gutted as I was so happy seeing the losses I was getting, but a week of sickness, bloating and stomach cramps wasn't worth continuing. I still have 2 pens left, so may go back to lower dose as this was first side effects I'd experienced.

If I do stop then need to take positives that I am lighter than when I started, so something to build on alone.

Soloparenthelp · 11/06/2023 00:00

Hi all. It’s taken me a while to update. I’ve been on and off saxenda where holidays have crept in. I am now 2 stone down where I was originally which I am really happy about. I can’t go anymore than 1.6 without huge side effects so I’ve just been playing around at that sort of dosage and it seems to be working. When I have had a break my mindset is completely different to what it was back in February. It’s definitely changed my life for the better so far !

@Soloparenthelp huge well done on the weight loss. have you managed to keep it off when you have stopped using it?

Pointblank2 · 21/06/2023 09:18

Anyone know who has stock at the moment

Newmum110 · 13/03/2024 21:02

OrangeCalippo · 22/02/2023 09:36

Hi @Soloparenthelp , I have been injecting in my stomach. (lots more padding there) but will try my leg and see does the symptoms improve. i am in Ireland and the cost is huge, my last prescription was €280 for 4 pens so I am determined to keep taking it but I just feel so unwell at present, any tips or tricks are appreciated. 🙄

Hi @OrangeCalippo sorry I know this is an old thread but just wondering where you got the prescription in Ireland? My GP is very old school so don't know if it's worth a €50 visit if he won't give me a prescription

OrangeCalippo · 14/03/2024 10:12

Hi @Newmum110 I had no problem at all getting it from my GP. They don't seem to be restricting it as much any more. My GP said she will prescribe it to anyone that she thinks would benefit and medically needs it, as the cost alone shows how serious you are about changing things. Best of Luck with it and if you need any further info just send me a DM
