“I started Ozempic last night” THREAD TWO

Here’s a shiny new thread for everyone who’s been sharing their experiences on the original, and of course all new starters are welcome too!

Hi,
I am coming off saxenda next week to try ozempic. What is your experience so far?

Goawayangryman · 20/01/2023 09:55

Re the 0.5mg for an extra month thing, they told me about this too. I'm not happy with that, not when paying £200 a month, so will be moving to another provider when I'm at week 7-8. I presume it's a cost thing as to why they won't supply 2*0.50 pens instead.

Has anyone moved to another supplier and not had to go back down to 0.25 ie start again from the beginning?

mathis2006 · 20/01/2023 10:00

Anyone used Manual, they are doing 1 month for £136 ? Seems cheap in comparison to others, so I am a bit suspicious.

MaryPoppinjay · 20/01/2023 10:02

@mathis2006 i was at full dose Saxenda and it did have an effect on appetite but mostly as I felt dreadful. I was constantly exhausted and nauseous and the indigestion was next level. I moved to Ozempic in November and the horrible side effects have gone but so has the appetite suppression. I feel the higher dose (currently on 0.5) will help but my supplier (Juniper) is not prescribing the higher dose. If I don’t get it sorted with them today will move to another supplier for my next pen (hopefully 1mg).

MaryPoppinjay · 20/01/2023 10:04

@Goawayangryman yeah, it’s not great and the support is unhelpful. If they don’t have the stock I wish they’d just say rather than string you along and pretend it is the right thing to do diagnostically.

BalloonArch · 20/01/2023 10:12

I had a sneaky weigh in today, 11lbs gone in 2 and a half weeks!
My fourth 0.25 jab is due on Monday and I think I'm just going to carry on until I feel I need to move up.
No side effects to speak of. I'm on HRT and now I'm wondering if this is simply replacing another hormone that went AWOL without me realising!

MaryPoppinjay · 20/01/2023 10:16

That’s brilliant BalloonArch!

That's where I got mine from. They have been fine so far

OneAndDon3 · 20/01/2023 11:07

Brilliant news @BalloonArch

The very rapid weight loss and lack of appetite/massive increase in self control has had me wondering if my weight gain in the past few years has been a combination of perimenopause and citalopram.

OzzyOzworn · 20/01/2023 11:54

MaryPoppinjay · 20/01/2023 08:29

@Abeachsomewhere @OneAndDon3 do you know if your suppliers have 1mg? I’m concerned a new supplier will start me from the beginning again or obfuscate like Juniper if they don’t have the 1mg.
@MaireadMcSweeney thanks for your advice - I know I should be losing at 1500 calories but I think for some people taking it that little lower is necessary - as you say I just can’t as I’m too hungry at 1500 to go even lower. I’m really hoping the higher therapeutic dose will work on appetite as I do believe in the product.

I used to slowly gain on 1500 prior to Ozempic. I’m losing on 1000 with it and not hungry.

StuckInTheUpsideDown · 20/01/2023 11:56

I’m not surprised people are pissed off being held on pre-therapeutic levels of treatment due to supplier constraints. Now I’m all for remaining on lower doses if it is giving you the impacts you need, that is great. But paying privately for low levels of treatment that isn’t helping is really the worst of all worlds when it isn’t a cheap thing to do.

Perhaps Juniper should be considering whether they should be taking on new clients if they can’t properly supply the ones they already have.

Twins3007 · 20/01/2023 11:58

When I buy my pen (quickmeds) I get the 1 mg pen it cost £150 with p&p, I take 0.5 weekly , The 1mg pen gives you 8 weeks , I don't understand why people buy the lower dose pen and get only 4 weeks, just do the click system

Twins3007 · 20/01/2023 11:59

forgot to say it costs the same

Mollybeth · 20/01/2023 12:00

Hi all,

looking for some advice really. Bought with Numan, was recently on saxenda. I’ve started on 0.25 but I’m still as hungry as ever and don’t seem to have had an effect. Can I go against the wishes of Numan and start at 0.5? Which I’m guessing is two lots of the 0.25?

I have a 1.5mg pen so should be ok? I’ll order more needles! Just wanted advice really

Peridot1 · 20/01/2023 12:12

The starting dose is usually recommended as 0.25 depending on the supplier. I was advised to start on 0.5 as that tends to work better for weight loss. When did you start? If you have been on Saxenda that may affect things. When did you stop, taking that and why?

@Peridot1 i stopped taking saxenda as sadly I couldn’t afford it as I was paying almost 300 a month and ozempic is currently only 156 so not as bank breaking!

ladyforallseasons · 20/01/2023 13:10

So day one!
Jab administered into thigh

Didn't feel a thing so am now panicking I did it correctly!

Everything that the leaflet said should happen, did......so fingers crossed!

Katrinawaves · 20/01/2023 13:41

After a week of no nausea or vomiting having split the doses, I bit the bullet today and injected a full 0.25 dose. Let’s see whether I can tolerate it this week.

Intemperatefatty · 20/01/2023 14:06

@MaryPoppinjay so sorry to hear you’re not making progress. In your shoes I’d definitely be moving supplier. It doesn’t sound like they are considering what’s best for you so vote with your feet. You most definitely should have been moved to 1mg after month 2, provided you were tolerating well. That’s the manufacturers own recommended schedule.

I have bought my pens from different places in the past -I started with MyLondon Pharmacy (now no longer doing them) then moved to HealthExpress, Quickmeds, Bury Healthcare online and very recently Juniper. During the consultation I just put that I’m already on Ozempic and the dose I take and I’ve never had any issues with getting it approved. Some ask who prescribed and some don’t. I’ve tried to avoid any of the subscription based providers as I’m comfortable managing things myself but due to stock issues, I had to sign up with Juniper last month but used the code that HermioneWeasley kindly provided. HealthExpress emailed me this week to say they now have stock so I will be switching back to them after I finish my first pen.

mrsbrownhat · 20/01/2023 14:23

Been on it 9 months. Lost 20lbs. It doesn't work for everyone. However it has sorted my diabetes out. Which is the main thing.

I looked on quick meds and they don't have ozempic, only saxenda and wegovy?

MaireadMcSweeney · 20/01/2023 14:48

Ok I found it but am struggling to make an account 😭 I'll do that though as £50 saving is worth having

mathis2006 · 20/01/2023 15:05

So did Numan give you a 1.5 pen straight away? I am coming off saxenda and fear to be put on a low dose for months and not see results.

MaryPoppinjay · 20/01/2023 15:10

Juniper have now said I can move up to the 1mg dose from the next delivery so let’s see how that goes. Aside from being reluctant to titrate up to a therapeutic dose for whatever reason they have been helpful and reliable so I’ll stick with that for now.
I am hopeful and very inspired by the positive outcomes on here. It is so peculiar how different people have such different levels of calorie restriction to lose @OzzyOzworn . I do wish there was more research into metabolism and subsequently a better understanding of why some people struggle more than others. A one size fits all model anecdotally just doesn’t work - sure medical professionals are sure we are lying to ourselves when we say that only severe calorie restriction works to lose weight and that we are secretly snaffling cake with a side order of denial…

That’s excellent - so many potential health complications from diabetes you are now avoiding risk of. My HBA1C is now normal after being prediabetic which I’m delighted with.
