Hi all, can I join? I have 30+kg to lose as well, and am 52.
I find that if I'm too strict with myself I won't last long on a diet.
I did a bit of reading last night (i am in Australia) and of the 9 hormones that can affect your weight, 4 are better when you sleep properly and 7 are better when you exercise regularly.
I am TERRIBLE at going to bed at a reasonable time and exercising.
I also have two very fussy teenage boys who won't eat salads and will only eat veg when they're cooked individually, so no stews or soups... they also love their carbs.
So I need to stop the snacking, eat NICE meals, go to sleep at a reasonable hour and incorporate some exercise into my day. (Lol, soooo easy...😂)
So not having a bog standard bolognese because that's what my DSs will eat, but maybe instead have some fancy ravioli with a salad. I'm hoping if my mealtimes feel like a treat then I'm less likely to reach for the chocolate or biscuits.
I also work from home so boredom snack, and am in a new role so have habit of grabbing a snack before I tackle a new difficult task. So I'm going to try some of Paul McKenna's meditations/mind tricks to stop myself snacking.
I have bought a new fitbit as my last one broke, and am trying to keep my steps at 5,000 by paying attention to my hourly move prompts (it wants me to do 250 steps every hour) and turning the music on in the kitchen and dancing around a bit while food prepping etc.
Start weight is 100kg (give or take a couple of kg). I will post an update on my weight when I reach 95 as I often go up and down a couple of kg.
