That's ambitions - I am 51 and it's taking me to my 21 year old weight. (On the other hand, when I weighed that - or anything lower - I was never ever satisfied)

Is there anyone else in that kind of region? I am seeing a lot of threads from the people with around a stone, or a stone and a half to lose

Happy birthday @SeventyPounds

Hello @EmmaEmerald @freshstart49 @mrsmaggymoo

I've had to work really hard this weekend around a couple of planned special meals (well not special so much as not the usual weekend that I'm in control of) to make sure I didn't overload on my other meals and worked out what I could and couldn't eat. That is definitely an improvement on last weekend when I just blindly went from meal to meal without much planning. Hope I see a difference tomorrow.

I have my weigh in and measuring wasit/hips tomorrow. Will report back!

katscamel · 30/01/2023 01:50

Another Monday....over here it's the 2nd day of the week. Today I will try and be far better than yesterday. I was fine all morning then starving by the time I got home at 4.30 and had a load of crap before dinner. Like the other night...it is a psychological thing. I feel that 4.30 is too early for dinner so will eat rubbish and see it as a 'late lunch'. I'm in the classroom 12-4 so 'normal' lunch doesn't happen..
As I'm awake early I'll have a listen to Paul McKenna and get some steps in with Get Fit With Rick..... thats a start at least...

DressingForRevenge · 30/01/2023 07:23

Happy Birthday @SeventyPounds ! I too am 50 and have decided “enough is enough”.

I weighed in this morning and am down 4lb this week.

Bit annoyed with myself that I fell on to a cornetto last night, but that’s been the only blip. Onwards and downwards.

@katscamel can you have a good brunch before you go?

katscamel · 30/01/2023 07:36

@DressingForRevenge unfortunately not...I leave for work at about 8 and generally not a morning eater.....I know eggs would be great. I managed porridge with some strawberries this morning so hopefully that'll keep me going for a while.

Once I've settled into the job it'll probably be easier and will bring in (healthier) nibbly bits but for the next week or so it's just manic.

DressingForRevenge · 30/01/2023 07:45

I sympathise @katscamel , I’m not a morning eater and I’ve said before I do 18:6 not by any sort of plan, just because it suits me better. I’m coffee until 11 - but couldn’t get through to 4! I know when I pass the point of “must eat now” I’d eat cheese from a squirt can because all sense goes out of the window! 😂 Would it be possible for you to have your “big meal” at half four? I’m quite often done eating by 5 because there’s no law says you MUST eat at 7.

RedDoughnut · 30/01/2023 09:01

This weeks mission is to find a YouTube workout that I can do that won't annoy me to the point of throwing the TV remote away.
Suggestions welcome .

Amisillyornot · 30/01/2023 09:52

happy birthday @SeventyPounds
i had a weigh in on Sunday and have lost 0.9 kgs so am glad with that. I want to lose 2 kgs in time for my bday, anoter4 in time for easter and another 6 in time for July holiday. hopefully i can achieve my target.

Amisillyornot · 30/01/2023 09:56

@RedDoughnut - i have started looking at some weight wok out and hoping to start that soon, once i have found something, I'll post on here
@DressingForRevenge @katscamel 16:8 works for me as well as i never had time for breakfast!

Blacktreacle · 30/01/2023 11:01

Morning everybody!

Weigh in morning here. Lost 2kg this week (probably some of that is the carb bloat from the bad weekend I had last week where I put a couple of pounds back on from my Saturday morning low!) I'm really pleased - I tried to be much more mindful and plan better this weekend and it paid off. Celebrating with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for my late breakfast.

Blacktreacle · 30/01/2023 11:07

@katscamel maybe have a look for some egg muffin recipes to see if they are your sort of thing? There are all sorts of keto type recipes for them. Means you can make eggs in advance and take them for an on the go breakfast or for when you get peckish. I've really noticed the difference on the mornings I have 2 eggs vs the days I have (full fat) Greek yoghurt with nuts, seeds etc. I can go an extra hour or so without feeling hungry on the eggs. I've found porridge isn't long lasting enough for me and makes me snack very quickly. Greek yoghurt better but eggs by far the best. Mind you I know some friends who can go hours on porridge! Wouldn't it be easier if we all did the same on the same things and then we could all follow one path that was guaranteed to work???

I'm also finding a cup of miso soup is a really good way to help when hunger hits. Barely any calories, but savoury enough that most of the tome it helps me get through the hunger pangs and through until the next meal.

Blacktreacle · 30/01/2023 11:09

@RedDoughnut there is so much on YouTube but it's so hard to find the right thing. I've been trawling through but most are a definite miss! What sort of exercise do you want? Cardio or more strength?

Blacktreacle · 30/01/2023 11:26

Just realised that I've left 16st behind this week. And also today I've just crossed under 100kg by the tiniest bit! Those have both been big issues for me, been wanting to leave them behind for about 4 years and though I've dipped below 16st a lot as I sort of yo-yoed around that weight I've only been under 100kg once and never sustained it.

Got to keep pushing on. Don't want to see those numbers on the scales again!

Amisillyornot · 30/01/2023 12:33

@Blacktreacle well done on your loss. That's excellent.
Yayyy for getting under 100kgs, and keep focussed and say bye bye to the 100s!

TennisWithDeborah · 30/01/2023 12:35

@Blacktreacle that’s significant! Congrats.

katscamel · 30/01/2023 15:40

@RedDoughnut I love Get Fit with Rick on YouTube. Not annoying as some are (especially if you do the 'without commentary' routines, music is good and they're not too difficult.

So....I've had a fairly good day today.... porridge before work, black coffee at work and a salted caramel latte (skimmed milk but obviously had the syrup). Not actually feeling too hungry now which is good. I actually think it's the latter .... remember in the past a Starbucks/ milky coffee would see me through.

@Blacktreacle .... as much as I like the egg muffins they aren't really a work thing. I love miso soup but unfortunately didn't bring any over and haven't found any here.

Fab news on your weightless, hope you're feeling v.proud and treat yourself to sonething lovely.....a nice facial or something.

SeventyPounds · 30/01/2023 19:59

Thanks for the extra brithday wishes and a massive WELL DONE to @Blacktreacle for passing the 100kg mark. That's awesome.

Good day today so I'm back on plan after my birthday celebrations. I've also had a bit of a sort out of old makeup and ordered a few new bits to freshen up my options. I'm hoping it'll give me a little boost to feel good with new makeup and that will keep me motivated to keep getting healthier to feel even better.

freshstart49 · 30/01/2023 20:18

Good evening everyone, well my day one was a success I love reading everyone's updates.

OrderOfTheKookaburra · 30/01/2023 22:43

Hi all, can I join? I have 30+kg to lose as well, and am 52.

I find that if I'm too strict with myself I won't last long on a diet.

I did a bit of reading last night (i am in Australia) and of the 9 hormones that can affect your weight, 4 are better when you sleep properly and 7 are better when you exercise regularly.

I am TERRIBLE at going to bed at a reasonable time and exercising.

I also have two very fussy teenage boys who won't eat salads and will only eat veg when they're cooked individually, so no stews or soups... they also love their carbs.

So I need to stop the snacking, eat NICE meals, go to sleep at a reasonable hour and incorporate some exercise into my day. (Lol, soooo easy...😂)

So not having a bog standard bolognese because that's what my DSs will eat, but maybe instead have some fancy ravioli with a salad. I'm hoping if my mealtimes feel like a treat then I'm less likely to reach for the chocolate or biscuits.

I also work from home so boredom snack, and am in a new role so have habit of grabbing a snack before I tackle a new difficult task. So I'm going to try some of Paul McKenna's meditations/mind tricks to stop myself snacking.

I have bought a new fitbit as my last one broke, and am trying to keep my steps at 5,000 by paying attention to my hourly move prompts (it wants me to do 250 steps every hour) and turning the music on in the kitchen and dancing around a bit while food prepping etc.

Start weight is 100kg (give or take a couple of kg). I will post an update on my weight when I reach 95 as I often go up and down a couple of kg.

RedDoughnut · 31/01/2023 07:22

I'm useless at kg
But I'm about 114.

Or 18 stones

I've lost half a stone but this just puts me back to pre Christmas weight

16 stones will get me to pre menopause weight.

I'm so bored with being fat

DressingForRevenge · 31/01/2023 07:25

That’s brilliant @Blacktreacle - major milestone!

I’ve lost 9lbs (4kg) since we started and am hoping for 9kg in February.

When I’m eating from “boredom” I’m finding a coffee with cream or a bit of egg mayo doesn’t seem to affect weight-loss and is very filling.

If I ate what the kids do, I’d be 30 stone so I’ve always done 2 meals.

Today I’m off to the nurse for my annual check and no doubt will be berated for my weight. “Ha! You should’ve weighed me a month ago!”. 😂

SeventyPounds · 31/01/2023 08:27

Today I’m off to the nurse for my annual check and no doubt will be berated for my weight. “Ha! You should’ve weighed me a month ago!”. 😂

I always say I have lost weight - about 300lbs of it. Unfortunately for me, that 300lbs is made up of the same bloody 50lbs over and over again! I'm seriously considering whether some kind of behavioural therapy might also be useful and affordable...

Still, another half a pound this morning, making it 7.8bs so far...

JustMoved123 · 31/01/2023 10:46

Hi, can I join in? I’m 57 and having a reset from today, I have 20-30kg to lose but would be happy to lose 10 initially. I joined a gym a year ago and work out 3-4 times a week so I’m stronger but I’m self sabotaging constantly with the food and drink.
I am English and currently live in Australia, I miss my family so some of the weight is comfort eating and drinking but it has to stop - please help me be accountable so when I next go back to the UK i can be proud of myself and not ashamed of how I look.

kirinm · 31/01/2023 11:16

Could I join? I have around 30kg to lose. I think my initial target would be 26kg and then would be at a weight I'm happyish with.

I was the fittest I've ever been and the lowest weight in a long time back in 2017 but then got pregnant with my DD. I was pretty active and healthy throughout the pregnancy and 2 weeks after having her, I was only 10lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight. But she was a screaming non-sleeper and I survived on sugar and coffee.

I then went back to work about 2 stone over where I'd like to have been but within 6 months we were in lockdown and work just went crazy. I barely moved from my "desk" and life has felt chaotic ever since really.

I love exercising (or rather I love how it makes you feel) but I used to go to the gym before work or after and getting home at 9pm didn't matter then. Now on the days I'm at home, I pick my DD up from after school club around 5pm and then rush home to make her dinner, get her ready for bed etc and then try and do a bit more work. Realistically, the only time I'd be able to exercise on these days is if I go in the day (which is hard when I'm meant to be working) or go at 8pm when I'm shattered.

I have been seeing a PT for a couple of months and whilst that has helped me get stronger, my eating hasn't been good so its made no difference on the scales. I fell off the exercise wagon over Christmas when I was unwell. I'm on week 3 of getting back into exercise and enjoying it but really struggling to fit it in.

I've also decided that I'm going to strictly calorie count this month. I need to exert some discipline because I really do need to exercise and diet to lose weight.

Sorry for the long post! I'm going to aim to weigh only once a week. I do suffer from DOMS a lot because my exercise includes running and weights. I'm almost always aching from something!

kirinm · 31/01/2023 11:18

Oh and I am also aiming for 16:8. It isn't too tricky as I've never really eaten breakfast. Weekends are my weakness because the routine is so different (although I do get a lengthy gym session in).

trytopullyoursocksup · 31/01/2023 17:45

hello. still feeling a bit disheartened from the sunday weigh in. Drank wine last night :/ but didn't eat too badly and I was back running again this morning. c25k w5d2. So that's not too bad as the last time I managed it was around a week ago and I picked up where I left off instead of being set back. tough week at work this week and with family too. I wish things didn't have to be hard ALL the time.
