30kg to lose. Who else is in this ballpark?

That's ambitions - I am 51 and it's taking me to my 21 year old weight. (On the other hand, when I weighed that - or anything lower - I was never ever satisfied)

Is there anyone else in that kind of region? I am seeing a lot of threads from the people with around a stone, or a stone and a half to lose

@kirinm do you use MFP? I use mapmywalk when i am walking/running and it links to MPF. I have entered a challenge on there which is to walk 1023 km this year and this really motivates me to walk. sometimes, there is no shift on the scale as building muscles but you can feel it in your clothes. With walking and a diet of 1250 calories day (excp week end where i can go up t 1600) I have shifted 19 kgs since August 2022. Do a BMR and then reduce your calories accordingly x

I've just done the BMR and what it suggests for exercising 1-2 a week or 3-4 x a week is more than what i'm eating. My PT suggested 1750 a day. I might lower it to 1500 for a week and see how that goes.

kirinm · 24/02/2023 11:15

@Amisillyornot 19kg is amazing!! Well done.

I use Strava and my Fitbit for exercise but MFP for calories.

RedDoughnut · 24/02/2023 12:22

@Amisillyornot happy birthday in advance!

How do you manage 31k in a day?! I find it a challenge to do 10k in winter.
Tell me how much your life has improved since you lost this weight!

I feel like I may have turned the corner today. It's the longest I've stuck to a diet in years.

RedDoughnut · 24/02/2023 12:37

@kirinm any top fitness tips from you or your PT to share please?

I don't mind exercise but I'm working such long hours fitting it in is a real struggle.
Going swimming after work was a bit of a wash out. I was too tired but I can try again on the weekend.

Amisillyornot · 24/02/2023 13:00

@RedDoughnut - so now that the weather has changed and not so dark, this whole week I have done between 1hr- 1.5 hrs walk before work (this week hubby was off so did all the school runs, so that helped), that's around 11k steps. Yesterday I finished work half day and went to do some bday clothes shopping which added to the steps and then I went for another walk with a friend around 5 pm for another hour- altogether 31k. I try now to make 10k my daily minimum.
I feel so much better in myself, more energised, less down when I am getting dressed and also do more even around the house. I am enjoying the walks more - making my route longer and I get the whole family involved in my walks. I have been diagnosed with Osteoarthritis - that was the turning point, I had to lose the weight. My next step is to incorporate some weights as from 1st march.
p.s - i have stopped calling it diet, more like a lifestyle change. everyone in the house knows my fast starts at 6pm and they are to to offer me any snacks/treats/desserts.

It has taken me a really long time to make time for myself to exercise. And I think that's the hardest bit. My partner takes my DD to her dance class on a Saturday so I can go to the gym, I have PT sessions at lunchtime (when I work from home). It is really difficult to fit exercise in when working and having kids.

I think once it's lighter, things feel easier. 8pm in winter feels very different to 8pm in spring / summer and getting out after kids are in bed seems slightly more realistic to me.

Not much help I know.

RedDoughnut · 26/02/2023 20:07

How has everyone been this weekend?
I'd say mine was patchy but mainly because of menopause
My periods have gone haywire!

Evening xx mines been better only 4 pints of Guinness over Friday Saturday xxx it's my one downfall 😂😂😂😂 I cannot give it up

kirinm · 26/02/2023 20:28

Mines been good thanks. Was slightly off the diet today but not in excess of calories. Managed a couple of decent sessions in the gym and it's all starting to click again.

Personal training lined up for tomorrow and Tuesday too.

SeventyPounds · 26/02/2023 21:33

Not a bad weekend at all. Mostly to plan and pretty busy and active.

I have a couple of tricky days coming up: a work trip with an overnight that includes team dinner and drinks. I think my aim for that is to enjoy it but not go crazy and then just try to carry in to plan the next day.

Captainladder · 27/02/2023 08:03

Morning all!
not a bad weekend - and the 16:8 seems to suit me well.... though I don't do it on Sunday as it's nice to have brunch type breakfast earlier with the family.
still finding it hard to increase water intake. It's too cold 🤣. I'll make an effort with the herbal teas today.
I promised the boys school bakes to sell for their theatre performances today, tomorrow and Thursday so I'll
be baking most of today..... 👀 surrounded by chocolate 🤣🤣🤣🤣 . Luckily I have a cheese tooth, not a sweet tooth.

Amisillyornot · 27/02/2023 10:06

Morning all - busy birthday week end with lots of food and cakes. I still tried to keep up the walk..dreading Wednesday's weigh in.
But all in all, not too bad as on Sunday, I was just 200grams over my target weight of what I wanted to be, so I will take that as a win. The next target weight is now Easter so I will work towards that.

kirinm · 27/02/2023 11:34

My period started today so no idea what my weight will be on weds as I get so bloated the first couple of days.

The number on the scale on Saturday was pleasing (6lbs down from the beginning of the month) but can't guarantee it'll be the case by weds.

kirinm · 27/02/2023 11:39

Oh yes, birthday weekend for me but I'm aiming for 4-5 gym sessions. I generally don't feel any desire for alcohol which is probably helping.

InterestingMuch · 27/02/2023 17:21

Hello , just popping in to post an early weigh in as I am away for work til the end of the week. The scales say I am down 1.9kg and it has dipped me under the 90kg mark too. Hoping to stay on track for the next time I will venture towards the scales in 10 days or so time. Sending virtual support to you all x

SeventyPounds · 28/02/2023 08:10

Well done @InterestingMuch and good luck with the next 10 days, especially the 'away with work' days.

Good luck everyone else, for tomorrow's weigh in.

freshstart49 · 01/03/2023 00:00

So excited for the morning "anyone else" 😂

JustMoved123 · 01/03/2023 04:30

Morning for me as I’m in Australia so I’ll start:

A very mixed week for me which involved some cake and wine so pleased with a loss.

A small loss.... but I'll take it, especially since have my period and it was my very very lovely friends husband's funeral yesterday - I feel like I ate everything that was in front of me yesterday! I'm learning quite a little about myself and didn't realise how much I use food to cope with upsetting things - and conversely as a celebration!
am trying to look at it without blaming myself - more like information that I can use to help myself.
have a lovely day all!

kirinm · 01/03/2023 07:44

Morning

I've also got my period and feeling bloated but a 2lb loss which I'm pleased about. Just under half a stone loss in a month. I'd definitely hoped for more but it's a start.

Has anyone got any mini targets for March?

I want to lose at least 9lbs. This will make me about 16 stones and 13lbs.
I'd love to see a 16 as my start number going into April.

I'm finding posting here quite helpful. It's given me a bit of focus.

If anyone is lurking or dropped out come and join us if you have around 25kg, 4 stones, or over 50 lbs to lose. No skinny people ;-)
