30kg to lose. Who else is in this ballpark?

That's ambitions - I am 51 and it's taking me to my 21 year old weight. (On the other hand, when I weighed that - or anything lower - I was never ever satisfied)

Is there anyone else in that kind of region? I am seeing a lot of threads from the people with around a stone, or a stone and a half to lose

Checking in again for accountability! New Scales have arrived. Am still using my last weeks weight (100.8) as a starting off point.
Have also decided on my strategy. This week I'm following this plan....

16:8 IF... basically skip breakfast which is generally normal for me anyway.

Only eat at meal times.

Cut out processed food and desserts..... I don't have a sweet tooth but I run a cafe and I do try the cakes when try out new ones (we bake everything in house)... But I generally just have a bite and my collegue can have the rest! But I'd got into the habit of having dessert, which I never really want anyway.

Increase water / herbal tea.

Move more! Yoga Monday, Tai' Chi on Tuesday, Swimming Weds, Thurs and Friday. Mini Dog walk Saturday and bigger Dog walk Sunday (unfortunately I can't take him on my own as he's really strong and can be badly behaved on lead....and I'm not up to full strength after my hip ops yet).
There was lots of discussion around weight after my yoga class this morning. We all came to the conclusion its a mindset thing... and a habit thing... and for lots of us (we are all women over 40) a self medicating thing! lots of positive talk around using the Noom app - anyone here use it?

All sounding very positive!

No I've not heard of the app. I'm going to Google.

An okay day here. Personal training and well within my calorie limit for today. Dare I say it...I'm feeling motivated!

Has anyone had a Skinny Whip? I thought it would be all fluffy like a Milky Way.
It's not! It's like chewing gum

Morning!
new scales say 101.9 👀old scales say 97.7 🤷🏽‍♀️
unfortunately I think the old ones are probably wrong.... hey Ho. I'm sticking toy plan and seeing how things go. For next week.
ywsterday I fell into a jar of chocolate spread - medicating after some very sad news.
probably best not to do that again 🤣

Wednesday 22nd February weigh in:

JustMoved123 0.5 (6lbs total)
Red Doughnut -2lbs ( 9 lbs total)
Seventy Pound -3.9lbs (14.6lbs total)

I had a slightly worse week in terms of eating and activity - because of the cold - but a better week in terms of the scales. Go figure Grin

JustMoved123 · 22/02/2023 09:43

Wow well done @RedDoughnut & @SeventyPounds, are you both feeling it your clothes yet?

Amisillyornot · 22/02/2023 09:45

Hello all - having a nightmare of a week - very stressed

Well done everyone on your losses and welcome to all new members

JustMoved123 0.5 (6lbs total)
Red Doughnut -2lbs ( 9 lbs total)
Seventy Pound -3.9lbs (14.6lbs total)
Amisillyornot- -300 grams (10kg since Sept22)

Not great loss but ok considering I ate way to many pancakes yesterday!

Amisillyornot · 22/02/2023 09:46

@RedDoughnut - i have these skinny bars all the time - my favourite is the salted caramel one! yummy - I should probably have one when I break my fast at 10 :-)

SeventyPounds · 22/02/2023 10:14

@JustMoved123 Actually I have just started to feel a bit better in my clothes. I always think it takes 20lbs to really start to see a difference but with the weather being a smidge warmer I've started to wear some of my lighter tops rather than just baggy jumpers all the time. They definately fit and feel better than they did when I packed them away last year.

Hope this week is a bit better for you @Amisillyornot. Just the act of being stressed can stall weight loss, even without it impacting what and how you eat, so you've done well to keep steady and even lose a little bit while being stressed.

Let's just say my weekend was a washout. Focus is the plan this week

RedDoughnut · 22/02/2023 15:52

@freshstart49 at least you came back and haven't given up.

I've been chasing the same 2lbs on and off for all of February. Im not sure why, I have eaten well, not perfectly but compared to how I was

And I really working hard at getting my steps up. I've been trying to do walking workouts on YouTube. I've been swimming a few times too. I can only do one length at a time but I plod on for half a dozen or so,

I wonder if it's menopausal? My periods are erratic and I'm on the waiting list for a fibroid removal.

I just thought with 7 stones to lose and in the first month I would have lost about a stone by now.

Anyway, I'm not giving up.

InterestingMuch · 22/02/2023 18:09

Hello all - just posting to support. I only started sunday so have avoided the scales this wednesday .

kirinm · 22/02/2023 18:31

Oh sorry I forgot to weigh. I'll do it tomorrow morning. I'm bloated, have DOMS and am uncomfortable so I'm sure it'll have depressed me.

I think it's this thread kept me going xx I'm also peri men so I get the chasing the same pounds it's frustrating I think I'm going to dig Ot something that I cannot get on see my measurements change rather than weight x

Wantthisfriend · 23/02/2023 06:02

I forgot to weigh myself yesterday at the gym so nothing to report there. I'm disappointed I haven't kept track of my first weigh in. I'm finding the eating and exercise takes ALOT of organising and I'm not into a steady pattern yet. This coming week, I'll really focus on getting a rhythm of packing/preparing the right food, organising gym/home sessions around family, and of course weighing myself!
Lovely to see the reducing weigh-in numbers above-keep going all!

RedDoughnut · 23/02/2023 07:57

@trytopullyoursocksup how are you? Come back!

I hope everyone has a good day. Im threatening to go swimming after work today. Mainly because I fancy the jacuzzi!
Menopausal aches and pains!

kirinm · 23/02/2023 08:10

I had grand ideas of losing 10lb this month but that is looking impossible now 😭

JustMoved123 · 23/02/2023 13:51

@kirinm i always have those ideas and they have never worked out, I’m trying to think that if i can keep the general trend downwards rather than upwards it will work out eventually 😬. It’s very tough though as seeing the scales go down quickly is motivating and when they don’t move it makes me think it’s impossible

RedDoughnut · 24/02/2023 09:02

I'm 2lbs down since Wednesday so I'm feeling especially happy today.

I just need not to mess things up over the weekend.

I am planning a weekend swim as after was just a bit much, drive to the pool, dark and cold. DH had done 5 lengths before I even got in the water.
Nice jacuzzi though!

Amisillyornot · 24/02/2023 09:50

@kirinm -i had a target weight as well to get to for my birthday but i haven't reached it. It is very hard but slowly we will get there even though it may take a bit longer.

Amisillyornot · 24/02/2023 09:51

@RedDoughnut - have a few laps and then relax in the Jacuzzi :-).
i am trying to keep the steps up and yesterday I did 31k steps, so feeling pleased about that. My week end will be a washout as it is my birthday on Sunday!

kirinm · 24/02/2023 10:08

I think I might have to reduce my calories. I don't know if doing heavy exercise 4 times a week is making a difference / I'm holding water weight or if I'm just eating too much. But it is becoming increasingly frustrating and depressing especially since I have so much to lose.

Amisillyornot · 24/02/2023 11:03

@kirinm do you use MFP? I use mapmywalk when i am walking/running and it links to MPF. I have entered a challenge on there which is to walk 1023 km this year and this really motivates me to walk. sometimes, there is no shift on the scale as building muscles but you can feel it in your clothes. With walking and a diet of 1250 calories day (excp week end where i can go up t 1600) I have shifted 19 kgs since August 2022. Do a BMR and then reduce your calories accordingly x
