30kg to lose. Who else is in this ballpark?

That's ambitions - I am 51 and it's taking me to my 21 year old weight. (On the other hand, when I weighed that - or anything lower - I was never ever satisfied)

Is there anyone else in that kind of region? I am seeing a lot of threads from the people with around a stone, or a stone and a half to lose

Morning! Well.... I did it! Starting weight of 99.4 kgs - less than I was expecting so that's a bonus.
I'll add my loss on to the copy and paste next week! (Fingers crossed!!)
thank you for your welcome
and for your support.
today I'm focusing on hydration and eating at mealtimes.
my digestive system really doesn't like it when I graze all day!

kirinm · 08/02/2023 08:38

Morning

I was hoping for more as it is my first week really but it's more than I've lost for a long time and it's heading in the right direction!

Wednesday weigh-in. May as well confess rather than run away. It’s a pound up - no big surprise. I’ve been on the road mon + Tues with little notice and failed. Yesterday I bought a grenade bar - three bastarding quid - ie twice as much as the family box of regular brownies. 🤬

I got a cossie from eBay in the end - couldn’t bare to spend real cash on something which hopefully won’t get much use.

Bought some seasalt trousers for the next size or two down and I’m glad I didn’t wait to try them on. Are seasalt cut for massive arses? These are huge.

picked up the monthly shop yesterday and the kids were like “but mu-um, why have we got nearly 50 eggs?”. Because I’m going to win fart wars my precious.

😂😂😂

Ah well, @DressingForRevenge - onwards and upwards (or downwards, as the case will be!)

Hi, can I join this group please?

I also have to lose approximately 30kg to reach my optimum weight, and could really use some motivation, and it gives me inspiration to hear about your tips, and your own weight losses…

I have been eating healthily since the beginning of the year, I am feeling better but my weight is still pretty much the same!

@JustMoved123 - that's brilliant, well done.

JustMoved123 · 09/02/2023 07:19

Thanks @RedDoughnut Hopefully you have some hormonal water weight this week and have a great loss next week!
First week for me and I always find it hard to keep going when weight loss slows so I’m hoping this lovely group will keep me strong.

trytopullyoursocksup · 09/02/2023 09:11

Hi everyone,
I have skim read the thread and it looks as if lots of you are doing really well - hurray!
I had visitors and some emotional bullshit and I did really badly. I am not going to weigh myself for a week. I am back on the c25k today (did really badly, have lost a lot of fitness in around a week) and will be back on the 16:8 as well (I'll eat a low carb lunch around 1230). I am so regretful when I was doing so well.

It's about these visitors in particular. It's family and it's fraught. I have my own space back now and I can just get on with it. but GOD I wish I was better at handling things like that without damaging myself.

Right. onwards!

Any fitness you feel like you've lost will be back in no time. Try not to worry about the odd slip up. It happens and it'll happen again unless you've got some insane motivation levels.

kirinm · 09/02/2023 09:14

We are away at a friends house over the weekend and I can't tell you how much I wish we weren't. Only because calorie counting at someone else's house is much harder and I won't be able to go to the gym. I know that I've basically needed to become a bit of a hermit for a while when losing weight until I'm more disciplined / I've formed the habit. Wish me luck!

trytopullyoursocksup · 09/02/2023 09:22

Wishing you all the luck, kirinm :)

RedDoughnut · 09/02/2023 09:28

@trytopullyoursocksup Understandable. Hope you will have good news to report next Wednesday

I had a bad day yesterday with the period and bloating. And I find eating so comforting. I've always been fat and this is probably why.

I have upped my exercise ( from none to some) but I'm in now way C25K material but if course it's food more than lack of exercise that got me like this.

SeventyPounds · 10/02/2023 11:20

Some good news this week. My employer has introduced health insurance as a benefit and the plan they've gone with gives you reward points for certain things, including activity. This means I have had an extra reason to get my 10,000 steps in and/or walk at a pace that elevates my heart rate - I get extra points for it.

I'm not really sure what the points will earn me and am deliberately not looking just in case the answer is 'not very much' and it puts me off again Grin.

They add up over the year and you move up or down a tier, so I'm going to try to just keep it up for the next year and see.

On the down side, work has been getting me down a bit, so this week has felt like a hard slog to get through, at times.

Hope everyone else's weeks have been going well.

Amisillyornot · 10/02/2023 12:02

@SeventyPounds - think of the points as an incentive to get the steps in...whatever they bring from work will be extra. Good luck with the steps.
Sorry to hear about work being a slog..keep pushing ahead.
This week hasn't been great for me foodwise, in fact this whole month as it is my birthday soon- way too many birthday treats and catch ups over the next 3 weeks. am hoping that even if I fall off the wagon foodwise, I can still keep the walking going and balance it a bit.
Have a good week everyone

kirinm · 10/02/2023 14:05

That sounds like a great benefit @SeventyPounds !

I was meant to be going away but my cat isn't very well so can't leave her with someone just popping in to feed her. I'm a bit disappointed as I know my DD was so excited but it's also useful as I know I'd have struggled to calorie count and I can also go to the gym!

TennisWithDeborah · 10/02/2023 16:17

Every cloud, @kirinm !!
But seriously, I hope your cat isn’t suffering too much.

What a great perk @SeventyPounds

I am weighing monthly and lost ten pounds in my first month. I’m happy with that, especially as I continue to eat quite a lot of bread and pasta (although no choc, cake, sweets etc which is quite easy because I don’t have a sweet tooth and rarely fancy them). I am however, really missing crisps and chippy chips! I used to eat about 20 packets of crisps a week and I’d go to the chippy once per week. Hence, I am here!

Bitten by another cat and can't walk properly at the moment. Thankfully nothing worse.

trytopullyoursocksup · 12/02/2023 07:13

Did my Sunday weigh in. I am up since "the blip", 0.3kg, but still down overall. I am realising the gain I was moaning about a couple of weeks ago was premenstrual and I shouldn't have allowed myself to get demotivated by it. ok. onwards.
Are we formally weighing on Thursdays on here? Might do one this week and try and join you all and get onto that weekly schedule (if I think it won't be too bad)

OP posts:
trytopullyoursocksup · 12/02/2023 07:15

the fear is a huge problem, isn't it! Looking at what I just wrote you can see this whole thing has huge psychological power over me in a way that makes it harder than it needs to be.
Back on the C25k yesterday. Just back to where I was before The Visit (I tried on Thursday and couldn't keep up and had to set myself back)

OP posts:
RedDoughnut · 12/02/2023 08:11

Wednesdays for weigh in.

I agree it's demotivating not to lose regularly

I'm no different than I was 10 days ago having gone down and then back up again overnight.
I'm exercising more and eating less but I'm not tracking every single thing I eat so I probably have room for improvement.
But I'm struggling with time as it is and the thought of weighing everything, let alone trying to calculate home made foods, like curry, pasta sauce etc is daunting.

I should probably follow a set menu but I'm not sure I could.

DressingForRevenge · 12/02/2023 08:18

It seems life weighs us down - and then we eat. None of us here believe a Mars bar is healthier than a chunk of cucumber - but nobody ever binges on a family pack of cucumbers.

We got a rare takeaway last night but I just went for a big burger and discarded the top of the bun - there are limits!

it’s so frustrating that the weight comes off at a snail’s pace - but yet goes on - and stays on - so quickly.

My new swimming cossie hasn’t arrived yet so I’ve still not done that. Still doing no exercise but I think my balance is improving as I’ve not needed a walking stick for a couple of weeks.

I hope all cats get better soon. When I am older, I shall be a fat old lady with a pile of books and several cats on her lap. I’ll need a lap big enough. 😉

CreepingCrone · 12/02/2023 09:37

Me, I'm here. Lurking because the troll put me off posting!
Just turned 50. 77lbs/35kg 5o lose. I started in November and I'm halfway there. 2st 10lbs to go, which sounds like a normal amount! I honestly didn't think I'd last a day, let alone stick to it over Christmas and my 50th. I'm not aiming for my 25 year old weight because I've had issues with disordered eating my whole adult life, and was not well at 25. I lost my mum at the start of the pandemic and piled on 3 stone on top of being overweight. Even at 50, being an orphan is a complete bag of shite. Would not recommend.
I'm aiming for a healthy BMI and to reverse early onset NAFLD, so that I can be around to annoy my kids for a very long time 🖤
