Ok, this starts on Monday, as I have a steak pie and mash and yorkies to eat tomorrow. Will also heroically finish the Christmas chocolate so it’s out of the house. Once that’s all achieved, I’m good to go.

I need and must lose at least one pound a week until April. That’s about a stone.

Shouldn’t be too hard, right? Wrong. I’m basically fucking lazy, I hate exercise, hate going out in bad weather and am a total gluttonous food guzzling pig. And probably peri menopausal. And I sit at a desk all day. And a million other pathetic excuses why I’ve not shifted this weight in 2022 like I said I would.

I can’t be the only one who’s got sod all willpower, so who’s up to being fully accountable to this thread?

Lazy pigs like me especially welcome. Weigh in Monday morning.

Morning porkers, excellent work by @MyOldCaravan and @MurderBot !

I've had a couple of days of being off the wagon, but still haven't hit mega-munch levels. I'm avoiding the scales until the weekend.

Mañanarama · 25/01/2023 08:49

Morning all! I can feel the little piggy demons creeping back onto my shoulder. Got a Greggs sausage roll in the fridge and I know I’m going to pork that down well before lunchtime. I’m blaming January.

How is everyone else doing?

StephanieSuperpowers · 25/01/2023 08:57

Well, I keep thinking of reasons why today is a special day so I should treat myself. None of these are good reasons - it's not a special day, it's exactly the same routine as all other days. But I haven't yet done anything treaty so let's see how it all pans out...

Curse my lizard mind! It really wants pastry.

EyesOnThePies · 25/01/2023 09:49

I’m blaming January, too.

I thought I was doing well (ish) but seem to be backsliding.

I am post-menopause and think my body refuses to let go of fat unless I live on celery and water.

I do at least like water.

whatausername · 25/01/2023 10:04

It seems like a backsliding week. What were everyone's reasons for doing this in the first place? Mine were health-related

Mine are mainly vanity, with a bit of health thrown in! I’ve got so many clothes that haven’t fitted for a year or three, and I want to get back in them. Every year I am annoyed with myself when sunny days come along and there’s wobbly bits hanging out.

And just a mindset reset, really!

OP posts:
EyesOnThePies · 25/01/2023 10:18

My reasons:

To stop the creep of weight going back on after a big loss in 20-21

I cannot afford to buy new clothes due to going up a size

Health, as I cling to what is left of ‘middle age’

Vanity. I am not curvy, just lumpy, if I go much above what feels the ‘right’ weight for me. Which is pretty much in the middle of the BMI green zone.

How I feel.

MrsDoyle351 · 25/01/2023 10:19

I'm loving the piggy analogy/ies

I'm needing to lose weight for knee probs and pre diabetic - so carbs should be off the menu. The carbs and sugar seemed to go back on the menu for the month of December - hence my presence on a lot of weight loss threads!

I weigh in on a Friday, and starting weight was 11 stone - hoping to lose 1.5 stones.

Nuts are my nemesis.

STAY AWAY FROM THE NUTS MRS DOYLE

Thats a note to myself fellow pigs

like the positivity. Water is soooo life giving. Grin

StephanieSuperpowers · 25/01/2023 10:43

My reasons:

I just want to fit into my normal clothes again. And I think the world sees me as fatter than I see myself so there is a possibility that I'm horrendously fat but don't realise because I don't have a full length mirror. I think there's a chance I'm pretty much a square.

LazyPig · 25/01/2023 10:45

I have plateau'd and I'm finding it hard to maintain the motivation (this always happens) - was 15st1 on the day after we started Pig Club (10/11 Jan?) and have sat rigidly at 14st4 1/4 since 20/21 Jan.

I believe (know looking at the dates) period is coming. Can anyone tell me what and why period weight is a thing?! Will my weight ever go down again, or am I to remain static forever? In PigLimbo?

Mañanarama · 25/01/2023 10:47

I also want my legs back. I had a cracking pair of legs when I was younger but they’ve gone a bit tree trunk-y of late. And pale. And hairy. In my head I’m feeling like if I can shift a stone before spring and then start exercising more, I might get my nice legs back.

OP posts:
HamFrancisco · 25/01/2023 11:09

I was 16 stone exactly on NYD, I'm short and I've started to become fearful of disease and early death. Nobody wants a piggy end.

I also look pretty awful, if I can even get down to 13 stone my weight is evenly distributed, but as it is I have a really big belly.

BookWorm45 · 25/01/2023 11:55

When standing on the scales this morning in my pigsty, I found that clearly I suffer from having Heavier Air in one part of the room to the other. Stand to the left of the room - 1 lb reduced, hoorah. Stand in the middle - NO change. Stand on the right hand side - 1lb up, damn.

Have decided always to weigh on the LH side as it will be more encouraging....

And to avoid having dark nut chocolate in the house as it's too easy for it to accidentally become part of my lunch.

MKDmumofflash · 25/01/2023 12:42

Oh thank goodness others are experiencing the torment of the piggy gremlins, I can tell mine are back :(

@HamFrancisco I'm like you and its starting make me anxious about my health. Clearly not THAT anxious as there's a chocolate eclair in the fridge with my name on it.

EyesOnThePies · 25/01/2023 12:52

@LazyPig ABSOLUTELY pre period water retention is a thing!

Celebrate your fantastic success so far and think ‘Ha! Water! You will soon be turned to PISS!’ with an evil cackle.

But beware the PMS goblins leading you into temptation Aka The Fridge.

HamFrancisco · 25/01/2023 17:56

I've had an awful day at work and have eaten all the food. Argh.

I’ve just snorted 6 slices of pizza without blinking. Goats cheese, onion marmalade and spinach. Yum!

The PMS Goblins are doing the dirty on my clean cupboards already. They have found the leftover mince pies and delicious tin of Aldi Christmas Biscuits, and I'm nervous that I might unknowingly sleep walk (having never done so before) into the kitchen overnight, and unknowingly truffle snuffle all the contents.

I am just hoping my one chunk of 90% cocoa Lindt chocolate is enough to tide me over until the morning.

Inchstonesbeatmilestones · 25/01/2023 22:07

It's cold, my only option was to burn the diet wagon and to bask in its heat😬.

It is slowly slowly and I'm not sad (but tomorrow I'll maybe crying over my coffee ). Bloody teenagers are the antichrist when it comes to stressing me out and when you add in dieting...... It's like stress manifests as a demonic possession ( exorcist has nothing on my mood tonight 🤣), which is why my wagon is now destroyed (perhaps too many metaphors but meh)

Oh well, tomorrow is another day where I shall attempt to put the buggy back in the sty 🐖🐷🐖🐷

Inchstonesbeatmilestones · 25/01/2023 22:15

Or piggy even. Who knows where buggy come from 🤔

Octopus45 · 25/01/2023 22:58

@Inchstonesbeatmilestones you have my sympathy over the teenagers, or should I say piglets. @Mañanarama that pizza sounds lush.

I'm still lurgied, maybe eating marginally less but still a reasonable amount, but with far fewer steps than normal cause I have felt so rough, today has been a work from home day. Weighed 9st1 this morning, think that's about a pound and a half down from just after Christmas. Unfortunately I've got one of those builds that really doesn't carry weight well, need to be near to the bottom of a healthy BMI to look ok. My body shape also means that at the grand old age of 48, I have to choose between my face and my arse. All this is a great excuse for troughing what I feel like when the mood takes me lol

Mañanarama · 26/01/2023 11:15

I’ve eaten almost an entire chicken this morning. Got a hot one half price from the supermarket last night, so that’s half the calories, right?

ACurlyWurlyTail · 26/01/2023 14:19

Please may I join your sty?
I have been losing 1 and gaining 2 for 3 years now and I hit 15st 5 at Christmas. 1st day of 2023 at work literally nothing fit me, I panicked and ate everything in distress.
I found you all at the beginning and have been watching with interest and now am on it. No need to rush....if I lose 1lb per week for the next year I wont be at the ideal weight but I will be at a weight where 60% of my wardrobe can fit me.
Been making better choices since reading all your fabulous posts and am now joining you at an uncomfortable 15 3
my saving grace at the moment is tiny food! Yes I can eat a whole pack of party rings (if the pack is a mini treat bag and contains less than 100 kcals) I cant have open packets of things I have to finish the pack so tiny food in tiny packs is my new thing

Mañanarama · 26/01/2023 14:32

Welcome @ACurlyWurlyTail!!

Tiny food is a great idea, the temptation to eat an entire big packet is strong, so that’s a great tip!!

Not sure where everyone else has got to, bit concerned they’re all out jogging or eating salad or something…
