Anyone else with 2.5 stone (15kg) to lose?

Hello,
I was wondering if there were a few people who have a similar amount of weight to lose as me who would like to join a little support group.
I find the massive threads a bit overwhelming, and can't relate as much to those needing to lose half a stone or 5 stone. So ideally I'd love a couple of people starting in Jan who are aiming to lose a similar amount.
I'm not planning on doing a specific diet, just eating a lot less rubbish really. My aim is to be done by July 🤞

So, to my utter surprise 2 pounds off since my last weigh in two weeks ago. I had a very strenuous Easter but compensated with all the carbs, sugar for 6 days only and all the booze so thought maintaining would be a win. So thrilled. Still slow going and 9.5 pounds before a healthy BMI weight but a downwards trajectory is to be celebrated.
SW (2 Jan) 12.6
CW 11.2.5
GW 10.7 for a healthy BMI and consider where to aim for then

Glad this thread is still alive

@Rainsdropskeepfalling if different days of eating works for you have you considered trying 5:2? Might be easier than 1200 half the week.

Really glad to hear how everyone has been doing. We have some very difficult and sad family stuff going on at the moment which has meant I have been distracting myself by focusing quite heavily on exercise and my intake balance. Its helpful but I am mindful not to let it become too much of 'a thing' in my head as that can lead to issues down the line.

I do have an event in three weeks where I need to fit into a particular dress. Last time I tried it (around 2 weeks) ago it didn't yet do all the way up. I'm going to therefore give myself permission to go hard until then and then make a real effort to ease up on myself and move towards slow loss/maintenence.

Timwith2noses · 21/04/2023 19:48

3lbs down this morning, so the 2lb gain off and a lb for good measure. Pleased, I think jumping straight back in to exercise this week and adding in a hiit class has helped after the Easter break.

iamloading · 23/04/2023 21:05

Why are weekends always so hard!!! I'm so good in the week, and then just lose the plot at a weekend x

Only 1lb down this week, although that's hardly surprising, given that I'm still eating Easter eggs 😊and have done very little in the way of exercise.

Still, better than nothing I suppose.

SW: 13st 3lbs

CW: 12st 4lbs

GW: 11st 6lbs (ish)

LavenderfortheBees · 24/04/2023 20:31

2lb down this week. The dress still doesn't quite do up but I have almost 3 weeks and I'm still hopeful! I'm also a couple of lb away from a healthy BMI now so feeling very near to the end of the big push since NY and will be able to move to focusing mainly on my strength, nutrition and fitness rather than targeted weight loss.

orangetriangle · 24/04/2023 21:08

lost 2 pounds part of the 5 pound I put on over Easter !!

orangetriangle · 24/04/2023 21:09

CW 13st 3
GW by next August 11stone fingers crossed as that's when my daughter gets married and it's our 30th wedding anniversary and hoping to go on a cruise

iamloading · 25/04/2023 13:31

Well I ignored my plan to not weigh myself but I'm back to my pre-Easter weight. So I'm 9kg down now, 6 to go!

1.5lb off this week. I’m a comfortable size 14 now, and feel much happier with my health and fitness. I don’t really have a goal weight, I think I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing and see where I settle, I have enjoyed improving my fitness and I’m trying lots of classes since joining the gym to see what I actually enjoy and want to do regularly (so far sprint and pump are clear winners). Should I bow out of the thread? I suspect in total I’ve lost 2-2.5 stone now.

That’s great! How did you do it? Trawling through the whole thread is too much effort…

LavenderfortheBees · 28/04/2023 20:34

Nah I think anyone who has been contributing and still wants to post should do so. I've lost about 2.5st now and am very very close to goal.

I struggle with maintenance though so it's nice to keep in touch and stay accountable.

iamloading · 29/04/2023 08:51

I agree, stay as long as you like! And a huge well done to both of you.
I'm still at just over 9kg down so a stone and a half. It's torturously slow but that's my own fault and the main thing is that it is slowly coming off.

Big milestones today as am now officially a healthy BMI and the dress I need for the weekend after next now does up (if still a little tight)!

3lb off this week and now at 10st2lb. I know it's a lot to lose in a week at this stage but I'm fine with that as I knew this push was temporary so could go a little harder than strictly recommended. I reckon another 2lb will make the dress fit perfectly which is easy for a fortnight. Gives me a little wriggle room as well which will be useful as I need to do some very elaborate baking as well which will require taste testing.

Had lunch out today which was nice and it will be chicken and green veg for dinner. Bought some fancy chocolate which I have secreted away as a reward for after the event.

Then my focus is going to be on body composition. Going to eat close to maintenence while putting more effort into resistance training and weights.

Hi everyone,

Haven't posted in ages as literally nothing to report. SW : 98.8, CW 95.5, GW 84. It has been stuck for a few weeks now which is depressing. I think a lot was to do with my mood and I was feeling low generally, not drinking water and just not myself. I'm back on it now, so no more bread, just lower carbs. Hoping my weight can at least go below 95. I just cant imagine that my plateau weight is so high.

@tentonineandahalf I have just gone slow and steady and tried to focus on nourishment rather than punishment if that makes sense. I’ve done a lot of yo-yo dieting over the years and not had a great relationship with food as a result. As I’ve hit peri menopause I really wanted to try and improve my fitness and health - I felt so heavy and bloated. So I’ve increased my activity and reduced calories but no lower than 1600 per day, with days off for events, meals out etc etc. I did dry jan which really helped me as if I drink - I snack. So no drinking helped reduce snacking and then I felt I needed to try and address my relationship with alcohol too, so now I drink a couple of times a month - only when I’m out and never at home.

I had a whoosh loss in the first month and then settled to a steady 6-7lb/month off since. I’m not changing what I’m doing for the moment, I can probably stand to lose a bit more - but I’m quite content where I am right now so I’m honestly going to go with the flow and see if I can sustain my current habits.

I've had the motivation of lots of photographed events coming up and small dresses to fit into which has kept me going.

In terms of 'how' I've been eating roughly 1200cals lowish carb most days and doing a Les Mills workout 5-6 days a week.

The bit I have yet to crack is maintenence. Never managed it for more than a year and that was once in my life so I'm actually quite worried about the next stage. I find losing easy but can never find a happy medium.

LavenderfortheBees · 02/05/2023 21:02

One discovery I have made though this weekend is Papa Johns now do two papadias which are less than 600cal so a perfect choice for a dieters takeaway! Taste great and felt like I was treating myself properly after a days DIY. They created them in conjunction with weightwatchers.

Hi - any room for a MN newbie? I haven't read many posts yet but I will. I'm just finished an expensive 6 month programme with nutritional info, daily affirmations etc and lost almost nothing 😔I just keep screwing up, i actually feel sorry for the consultant i worked with - I'd say I have skewed her figures for a year. I say no 20 times a day but then i say yes a few times and boom the day is ruined. I also binge a few times a week, not huge amounts but enough to erase any good days. So i'm always "on a diet" in my head but never losing weight. I was told i have a mental block and I am self sabotaging.

I've come to realise my weight is just a symptom, I don't seem to know how else to deal with stress. I am looking for some advice on what to do in the moment, when you really crave something and all the planning and promises are going out the window. Something to increase the will power. I was thinking maybe I will do a positive moment diary, instead of recording what I eat and everytime I screw up, maybe record everytime i successfully say no, whether to myself or someone else. Any advice much appreciated.

Hey everyone so I go away today and weighed myself I have reached my target before my getaway. Yay.
Sw83.3
Current weight 69.9
My focus once back from holiday is body composition and toning.

magneticmoon · 03/05/2023 21:51

I need to start again. Like a pp above I self sabotage so much. I've put on more than a stone in a year and suddenly look really overweight and for my height. Podgy round tummy that's incredibly silly looking and hard to hide. I need motivation to get back on the wagon and stay there.

Shodan · 04/05/2023 11:30

I'm still here but haven't lost anything again. I just can't seem to recreate the motivation I had to lose the first stone.

I am under a lot of stress atm, which is why I don't have the headspace for thinking about healthier food options, and I don't have the time right now for doing lots of exercise.

However- at least one of the stressful/time-consuming issues is coming to an end in 2 weeks, so I should be able to get back to bootcamp/long walks at least. And maybe the weather will perk up a bit, which (in my case anyway) is a natural lead to lighter food options.

I definitely still want to lose another stone so I hope I can get that motivation back!
