Anyone else with 2.5 stone (15kg) to lose?

Hello,
I was wondering if there were a few people who have a similar amount of weight to lose as me who would like to join a little support group.
I find the massive threads a bit overwhelming, and can't relate as much to those needing to lose half a stone or 5 stone. So ideally I'd love a couple of people starting in Jan who are aiming to lose a similar amount.
I'm not planning on doing a specific diet, just eating a lot less rubbish really. My aim is to be done by July 🤞

I've been watching this thread since January but I'm useless at keeping up to date so I haven't joined. I'm inspired by all of your weight loss so thought I'd share mine!

Have been on plan since 2nd January.

SW 11st 8lb
CW 10st 4lb
GW 9st 9lb

So 18lb lost, 9lb to go and 2/3rds there which I'm absolutely chuffed with!

Congratulations to all of you losers 🥳

Finally a stone lost 🎉🎉🎉

Well done OP!!

I batch cooked a lentil and harissa soup yesterday for lunches and it is delicious and filling at less than 200 cals a portion. DP (who isn't dieting) had it for lunch as well today and loved it. Definitely going to make it again.

Going out for dinner and theatre tomorrow so have been budgeting for the extra calories this week but super looking forward to it. I really want a pizza and wine!

Shodan · 16/03/2023 13:29

Well done @iamloading !

I hopped on the scales Just Because this morning and to my enormous delight (and disbelief, given the 2 x pizzas, lots of chocolate and baked goods last week) it read 12st 1lb -and that was almost verging on the 12st 0lb.

The crisis that provoked the bad food week has now passed, so I'll start dieting again (after Mother's Day, because we're going out for a meal).

Am v chuffed.

Well done everyone with losses. I'm about 3lb down from the start of January and have been so disheartened that I've gone for the nuclear option and have taken my first ozempic injection. It's expensive but I'm hoping it takes me down to the weight I should be for my height and that I then manage to sustain that. So I'm going to jump off this thread and go onto the ozempic thread as it's not a standard way to lose weight. Hope that you all have continued successes

eternalopt · 18/03/2023 08:30

Right. Time to take accountability and join a thread like this!

Lost 2 stone in the pre covid world with slimming world and was happy with how I looked, then ate my way through lockdowns and just kept going. Now the heaviest I've ever been and thoroughly miserable.

Starting again and going with calorie deficit as my weight loss with SW was slow as I took full advantage of free pasta and rice and ate massive portions.

Any tips on good filling meals that are low calorie gratefully received.

May I join? After a sad breakup last year, I lost all interest in myself and just focussed on my work (sedentary) and kids. At the time I was just under 90kg, 5ft 6 and hoping to lose 7kg. Weighed myself today after being unwell for the last month and I'm 98.5kg. It really was a huge shock.

What I struggle with : trying to meal plan for me and my young children. If they weren't around, I'd eat lots of meat and salad but instead I make things like shepherd's pie or curries so they have a rounded meal.

Daily meals :

2 scrambled eggs, cream cheese, 2 seeded rolls from COOP.

2 cups of chai with sugar

250ml water

40min lumbering walk

Dinner : chicken curry and a heap of rice

Any tips would be greatly appreciated

LavenderfortheBees · 20/03/2023 08:17

Morning everyone. Weighed in with a 2lb loss again this morning which is excellent as I had two potentially derailing things this weekend. Dinner out and (lots of) wine on Friday and practice baking for a fancy event on Sunday. Saved up the calories for the dinner over the week and had cake instead of one meal so stayed on target overall. Have brought leftover cake into work today so it will be gone.

C/W 11st 4lb
G/W 9-10st
18lb lost since I started tracking near the end of Jan.

My jeans that I couldn't get over my thighs when I bought them are now loose for a NSV.

Welcome @Hellenabe

Break ups and other sad times can be ruinous for our health and weight control. I gained a fair bit last summer when DP was working away for months just because I was lonely.

Your meals have good foundations but you might find the sugar and carbs derail you a little as they cause blood sugar spikes and hunger.

Could you drop the sugar in your tea?
Drop the rolls from breakfast, add an extra egg and scramble some lovely veg in with it like mushrooms, pepper, onion etc?
I eat rice with dinner but keep it to 1-2 tablespoons of brown rice.

Brown rice can be really tasty if you season well. I tend to fry a shallot and onion in the pan, add extra spices depending on the dish (salt, pepper, paprika, tomato puree, turmeric, garam masale, chilli flakes etc.) then fry the dry rice in with the seasoning for 1 min before adding the water and cooking as usual. Makes loads and I can then use leftovers for stir frys, egg fried rice etc.

Hellenabe · 20/03/2023 09:56

@LavenderfortheBees thank you! Great tip on the rice, I might try that. Started today with no rolls, just egg and mushrooms. I'll be interested to see by the end of this week just what the impact will be of dropping my fave rolls!

Timwith2noses · 20/03/2023 11:20

Weird loss situation for me. Looked as though I had gained half a lb on Fri, full of cold, not exercised as planned etc. went away for weekend, ate and drank what I wanted. Felt much better by yesterday. Went straight for run this morning, came home, weighed and scales say 3lb off. Mind blown 🤯.

Timwith2noses · 20/03/2023 11:36

Meal and eating ideas - I know I’m not as strict as most on here, that won’t work for me.

I eat a lot of homemade curries with rice, and pasta, I use my slow cooker a lot for one pot stuff. I rate pinch of nom for recipe ideas that the whole family will eat, and a new one I bought recently - bored of lunch (slow cooker ideas). I look for meals that the family will eat and then whether I need to make them a better calorie value. But I allow myself 1600kcal/day and don’t eat breakfast so it’s usually 500ish for lunch - which gets me a sandwich and a snack - bag of wotsits or whatever, and a healthy dinner allowance that covers most main meals. Some days I snack more and have to make my evening meal more low cal, others I don’t really snack. I drink water or sugar free squash all day, peppermint tea in the evenings and limit my caffeinated drinks.

I have been a classic yo-yo dieter my whole life but as I’m heading into peri menopause I feel like I want to take control of my health and fitness - which involves losing weight - and that is great but I have to keep it sustainable. I can’t do the weird and wonderful diets of my youth, and also they make me miserable and clearly never worked anyway. So I don’t restrict too much and the weight is coming off while I get fitter and stronger in the process.

Great stuff. If the rolls are similar to these you are looking at 400-500 cals for two rolls. You could add loads of veg for around 50 cals and be just as full. If you do that and only that every day, it's a deficit that will lose you 1lb every 10 days or so.

Sneakyblinders · 20/03/2023 12:14

Hi everyone, I joined last week so it's my second week posting. I am calorie counting and cutting out the wine / chocolate in the evening and where I would have two pieces of bread if making a sandwich at home, I now have one (small sob!).

SW: 11 stone 13
CW: 11 stone 11
GW: 9 stone 3

I lost 2lbs this week which i am pleased with especially as had a few treats yesterday what with it being Mother's Day!

Hellenabe · 21/03/2023 06:53

@LavenderfortheBees yes, very much like those rolls but freshly baked, arghhhh!

Onegingerhead · 21/03/2023 07:29

Any ideas for a good filling breakfast? I tend to go for 3 eggs, 3 slices of bacon plus coffee with toast one (circa 500 kcal) and it nicely fills me up until lunch time. I tried some alternatives (natural cottage cheese, avocado toast, porridge with berries) but I get extremely hungry 1.5-2 hours later.
Idea is to have 3 meals a day 500-550 kcal each

Hellenabe · 21/03/2023 09:00

@Onegingerhead I've been doing a scrambled egg mix with bacon, mushrooms and onions and chilli plus avocado on the side. Usually I'm a bread lover but this is pretty filling

PomRuns · 21/03/2023 09:24

@Onegingerhead full fat greek yogurt? with some nuts and berries.

week 3: 1lb loss
Total: 6.5lbs
Goal: 35lbs

LavenderfortheBees · 21/03/2023 09:28

I have the same breakfast most days which is a high protein greek yoghurt with 50g of no added sugar Swiss muesli. I make the yoghurt myself but something like Skyr would do the same job.

OakTreex · 23/03/2023 00:12

Checking in, I've been going since Jan 20th.

SW: 12 stone 1
CW: 10 stone 8
GW: 9 stone 7

I lost the first stone in a month and just shy of a stone and a half so far - loss has been slower after the first stone but still consistent.

I've used the Fitbit app to track exercise, calorie expenditure and input my food into and aimed for 1200-1400 calories a day and 10,000 steps (which I don't always achieve but often do).

I'm really motivated to do this now I can see the difference in my clothes and people have noticed!

I've also gone from overweight BMI to normal BMI (5"6)

TheLostArt · 23/03/2023 08:55

Amazing @OakTreex that's really good going!
I'm still slow and steady with an emphasis on slow but given how hectic and on some days sedentary (work) the last two weeks have been I'll take that. Also calorie counting and aiming for an average of 10k steps a day (some are around 17, some a lot less) with no sugar which really helps me manage the calorie goals if exceedingly dull!
SW 12.6
CW 11.5
GW 10.6 but will reassess when there as would like to be within BMI not just on it!

MrsPepperpotty · 23/03/2023 09:45

No change this week, probably because of the takeaway curry and mother's day chocs Blush

Back on it this week.

Shodan · 23/03/2023 09:53

No change for me either this week, but that's ok- I was still pigging out until Monday of this week!

Back in the swing of things now so fingers crossed for next week.

Savemesome · 23/03/2023 21:36

@OakTreex that’s great! I am so close to getting into that healthy BMI window, just 1.5lb to go!
lost a lb this week,
SW 13 12
CW 11 12.5

Timwith2noses · 24/03/2023 18:36

1lb off for me this week. Turned out my cold was covid and that nicely led into tonsillitis so I’m feeling a bit sorry for myself and have missed more exercise this week 😩

ProjectsGalore · 25/03/2023 11:15

I'm all out of sync due to starting a new job but I've weighed in.

SW: 12st 10
CW: 12st 7
GW: 10st 6

So it's taken me a month to lose 3 lbs! Which will take 10 months at this rate to lose the rest. My dreams of a skinny summer are probably not achievable!
