It would appear that all I do is stuff my face with crap, lots of crap.

I'm going to try and sort myself out, starting tomorrow.

I'm scared, I'm useless at dieting but it's getting serious. I'm so unhappy, I caught sight of myself in the window walking past Costa coffee today. It was grim.

Anyone want to join me?

Weigh day tomorrow.

I didn't weigh last week, but Happy Scale says I've lost 0.5 kg over 10 days. @Runnerduck34 That's probably 300 g for the week 🤣

I'm going to allow myself to be a bit glum today, then it's more upbeat for the rest of the week.

It dropped below freezing last night. I hoped I'd sustain my initial fast loss for another month, because I really do need to be wearing my usual clothes. It's not like I have an extensive wardrobe waiting for me, but I do have a collection of brightly coloured merino long johns and vests, and I'd quite like to be wearing them. Right now! 🥶

Onwards!

ReginaPerrin · 21/11/2022 20:40

Gained 1lb this week. Have overdone the snacks ☹️. I actually expected it to be worse but I’m still really pissed off with myself.

Well done to anyone who has lost this week 👍

Stravaig · 21/11/2022 21:10

The chocolates were a terrible mistake, they're very sweet and it's so cold. I've set the rest aside for my Mum 😳 Willpower, belated.

Do we need a collective reset and remotivate? I do.
One month until Winter Solstice, and then Christmas. Any ideas?

Sodullincomparison · 21/11/2022 21:58

A reset would be fab. How about if we up there accountability and write what we have eaten each day?

calorie wise I did great today but if you see it consisted of my PA’s stash of Bounty Bars and biscuits you wouldn’t be so impressed 😂😂

Sodullincomparison · 21/11/2022 21:59

Oh no everyone: seven pounds in total since we started. Ha ha ha

one pound loss this week.

MardyHa · 21/11/2022 23:22

Is it too late to join? Nothing fits in my wardrobe and I feel so hopeless about it.

whyhere · 22/11/2022 08:58

Morning all (or afternoon etc if you're not in the UK 😊).

To my amazement, I've lost another pound (had so many work events last week where I had no choice but to eat what was put in front of me). I think it might catch up with me this week, so I shall have to be very frugal!

So, now 11st 12lb.

Does anyone else measure their waist as well as weighing? I find it really interesting, in that some weeks the loss shows on the tape measure rather than the scales. My starting waist measurement (a year ago) was 36" - it's currently 31.5.

At which meal of the day do you find it most difficult to control the amount you eat? For me it's lunch: whatever time I have breakfast I am ravenous by 12 noon!

Stravaig · 22/11/2022 13:42

@Sodullincomparison That's a good idea!

Today, first thing: blue tea, green tea, a little dark chocolate.
Meal 1: Omelette with tomato, basil, parsley, cheddar. Square of dark choc.
Meal 2: Bolognese, diced potato, rosemary.
If I want something extra it will be a small flatbread, warmed, with nut butter.

I'm thinking of eating more for one or two days a week, in hopes it will nudge my body into noticing I am mostly low calorie, and it really should be losing weight. No idea if this will work. It will also ease me into organising a third meal without turning to chocolate.

Each winter there is a brrr point when I start having hot chocolate first thing. Strong, made with milk, and cinnamon, crusty roll to dunk, and dream of 🏔🏂. So I'll likely start there. This is a self-limiting habit, because neither milk nor bread agree with me very well, which becomes uncomfortably obvious after a couple of weeks. Then I'll switch to porridge. Proper hearty porridge made with coarsely cut oat groats.

I'm trying to limit sweet tastes to first thing in the morning, and definitely before noon. Any authorised sugar highs have to be utilised doing housework 🤣

Lovely to have new folks join, hello!

I'm 15st 5 now.
Was 15st 11 at the start of this thread. It's working!!
Want to be in the 14's for Christmas.

Sorry to type and run! Will catchup on thread later.

whyhere · 22/11/2022 19:28

Well done @AnnieHooo

illiterato · 22/11/2022 20:51

@Stravaig do you live in the Scottish highlands or something? Below freezing? I'm a softy southerner and don't think it's dropped much below 10 here.

Welcome @MardyHa Newcomers welcome. We are dwindled in numbers from Page 1 but not in spirit!

@whyhere I don't take measurements but I do look at how my clothes fit as well as the number on the scale. Re. tricky times, I find if I eat lunch too early then I pick at rubbish late afternoon, so I try to leave lunch really late- like 2:30- and make it quite substantial. Then I have a very light meal later on with the kids. I tend not to eat breakfast but I'll have a couple of milky coffees in the morning and I basically chain drink tea when I'm at home.

Sodullincomparison · 22/11/2022 22:34

I had water and an apple this morning and a mixed pepper frittata at lunch with salad for lunch.

so was all good until DH said we have babysitters let’s go for dinner.

I had some rice, half a paratha and South Indian garlic curry.

it was delicious and a lovely couple of hours with DH as life has been so hectic.

amazing starry skies tonight so it’s going to be chilly tonight here.

Sodullincomparison · 22/11/2022 22:35

@Stravaig Im coming to your house for dinner. Delicious!

@AnnieHoooo Ill race you to the 14s!! 😀

PaulineFowlersCardigan · 22/11/2022 22:55

Everyone is doing so well! Sorry it’s a quick in and out, crazy week with ds, so will have a proper catch up tomorrow. But wanted to drop in and say still here, still trying, and weighed in yesterday at 12st 12lbs, so another 2lbs off, 4 since the start.
I’m thrilled tbh, it might not be quick, but I really thought I’d gain with not smoking and I’m actually losing!!
so nice to see new faces too!
Loving the idea of a restart 😊

Sodullincomparison · 22/11/2022 22:58

Well done @PaulineFowlersCardigan still
losing and not smoking! Awesome.

DH gave up at the same time as you and He are so much food at work each day.

whyhere · 23/11/2022 08:16

@Sodullincomparison What is blue tea please?

Stravaig · 23/11/2022 08:46

@Sodullincomparison Yes, Highlands! It's been unnaturally warm here too, but over the past few days we've plummeted from still summer to normal winter, with no autumn in between.

@PaulineFowlersCardigan Queen of the thread, stopping smoking and losing weight too!

@whyhere It says 'blue tea' on the tin, but I think it might be Oolong? I should add that no genuine tea drinker would have any truck with what I call tea. It's loose leaf, and instead of a teaspoon dose, I use a few strands, and let them briefly dangle their tippy toes in the water. Arabic coffee is my drink, but I've given up, so instead I have this hot water with a tinge of colour and flavour. (I can't stand real tea.)

Stravaig · 23/11/2022 14:13

First thing: Tea and a wee bit of chocolate.

Meal 1: Tomato, basil, parsley omelette plus leftover potato, shallot, bacon so more of a frittata really. Huge, still got half for tomorrow. The bargaining brain: eat the whole thing, too full. Half, and I can add a chocolate biscotti. So I did 🤷‍♀️

Meal 2 (in a bit): Panful of sautéd red pepper, cavolo nero, beef strips, with ginger, garlic, tamari, sesame oil, coriander leaf. Eyeing a chocolate chip shortbread for after, which would break my newly reaffirmed rules, and then I'll have to clean the bathroom or something 🤣

Stravaig · 23/11/2022 16:22

Update: it is ridiculously easy to outsmart myself. I pre-emptively cleaned the bathroom, and the kitchen, so then had two shortbread fingers 🤣

On the plus side, any capacity for physical exertion in the afternoons is a very positive sign, so I'm claiming a win overall 💪

Look, pretty colours!

Fuck I'm so lardy, I've hit peak fatness and need to sort it out.
whyhere · 23/11/2022 18:59

Great posts @Stravaig 😀. I'm with you on the tea; I drink it without milk or sugar, and very weak: darjeeling and white are my favourites, and Oolong is lovely. My friend says it looks like cats' p** 😂

AnnieHoooo · 23/11/2022 18:59

yes @Sodullincomparison !! Let's get into the 14's !!! Would be the best Christmas Day present 🎁!!!

Sodullincomparison · 24/11/2022 20:52

@Stravaig your meals look so amazing! Now I know why you need porridge in the morning! How awesome to be in in the Highlands.

today I had water until midday and then a Beef Casserole and peas ( schoolchild portion though- I pinched my daughter’s plate before Chef could give me a piled high adult plate)

I have two small Kit Kats mid afternoon though.

dinner was chicken breast with a Thai a green Curry sauce.

We are hosting a large party tomorrow so it’s an evening of cleaning and preparations.
and hopefully it will be an evening of hosting rather than indulging tomorrow.

I feel I need to refocus though and excited for this food and treats to be out of the house next week.

thank you all for you ongoing support and check-ins. Even on days which go awry it helps me with a reset button.

Stravaig · 25/11/2022 19:33

Wholeheartedly agree! I've never been on a thread like this before. It's great to have company on the same path, and I get so much inspiration from all your stories and food and exercise strategies. Thank you everyone❣️

Hope you're having a ball tonight @Sodullincomparison

@whyhere Luckily no cat here for comparison 🤣

Today, first thing: blue tea, green tea, dark chocolate.
Meal 1: use up random bits omelette with shallot, bacon, red pepper, dill, cheese
Meal 2: salad of grated carrot, grated beetroot, chopped rocket, drizzled in mandarin oil; fillet of salmon with lemon & coriander. Warmed salad+plate as a concession to winter!
Nibbles: pistachio & sesame mini toasts; square of dark mint choc.
