It would appear that all I do is stuff my face with crap, lots of crap.

I'm going to try and sort myself out, starting tomorrow.

I'm scared, I'm useless at dieting but it's getting serious. I'm so unhappy, I caught sight of myself in the window walking past Costa coffee today. It was grim.

Anyone want to join me?

Weigh day tomorrow.

Welcome @SameKeyThough . That sounds tough. Do the meds affect your metabolism or do they just make you hungry? I am just getting back into running after a long break. It was really hard to get back into it. Would you be able to go for a short walk instead ( not that it’s really the weather for it today!!)?

well done @ReginaPerrin . I don’t each much bread either, mainly as I find it so moreish. I can easily finish off an M&S cheese sourdough with butter over an evening.

good luck with the weigh in @Sodullincomparison

keep on @AnnieHooo and @Stravaig. it will happen! Weight loss is rarely linear.

SameKeyThough · 15/11/2022 09:54

@illiterato thank you. The meds alter the way your body uses insulin I believe, so it clings onto everything you eat and stores it as fat. It also increases appetite so I am constantly hungry. I'm currently slowly coming off one of the pills but not the other one yet.
Feeling rather despondent as just did an unofficial weigh in and despite being pretty close to my 1400 calories yesterday I've put on a pound and a half. I think my target may have to just be not to GAIN any more weight by Christmas, rather than lose it.

SameKeyThough · 16/11/2022 15:15

Just eaten about a tonne of biscuits. Why do I have no self control???

PeloFondo · 16/11/2022 16:02

Plodding on here
Not weighed as period week so no point! Doing 4 spin classes a week, 2 x 30 mins and 2 x 45/60 mins

Stravaig · 17/11/2022 12:21

Well done everyone for keeping going 🥳

Still plodding along here. I've lost 1.4 kg in the past 3 weeks, after 6.5 kg in the first month 😩 On the plus side, my UTI is finally clearing, and the plumbing generally feels healthier. Hoping the scale starts moving soon!

Stravaig · 18/11/2022 09:24

🥳 Lost 10% body weight!

Medical studies have shown specific measurable health benefits associated with losing 10% of body weight, even if you have lots more to lose, so this feels like a worthwhile one.

Happy Scale has been helpfully predicting that I will reach this milestone 'TODAY?!' for the past 3 weeks. Feels like ?! is now my weight loss motto.

WalkingOnSonshine · 18/11/2022 09:31

Amazing @Stravaig!

I’m down to 80.6kg which, after 2 years of 84kg at the lowest, is bloody remarkable.

SameKeyThough · 18/11/2022 09:39

@Stravaig and @WalkingOnSonshine well done both! You are my inspiration today. Managed to stick to my calories yesterday so just need keep persevering.

Stravaig · 18/11/2022 17:58

Thank you both, and congratulations @WalkingOnSonshine that must feel great!

PeloFondo · 18/11/2022 19:14

I cracked and weighed. 16st 12 still so that's a win as time of the month
Also another kidney infection Angry

illiterato · 19/11/2022 11:20

Well done everyone and sorry your kidneys are bad again @PeloFondo. DH had a kidney stone once and said he’s never been in as much pain.

I have had a shocker of a week- just mindless picking at snacks and last night I broke open the baileys. Why? Why? Especially as I’ve said absolutely no Christmas stuff till 1 December.

I have been good on the old exercise- woke up this morning with satisfyingly sore legs from the gym yesterday - but expecting a bit of a gain by Monday.

Stravaig · 19/11/2022 12:42

@PeloFondo I'm so sorry, that's horrible, and very unfair. Does the doctor know what's going on?

whyhere · 20/11/2022 09:03

May I join you please? I've been overweight for years, but carried it well (although I'm an average 5ft 6") and know how to dress to disguise it! However, once the menopause hit a decade+ ago my weight crept up. Over the past year I've managed to lose one and a half stone, mainly through accepting that exercise alone just won't do it. (I walk my dog every day and do a martial art three times a week.). What accelerated my weight loss was committing to an app called Lose It! I now log absolutely everything I eat, and was amazed at the huge amount of calories in 'innocent' foods (pasta and rice, I'm looking at you!).

Anyway, at my last weigh-in I was 11st 13lb. I have only a small goal left (to get to 11st 10lb) but I'd really like to join you, if that's okay, as I know from many years of experience that maintaining is absolutely the hardest thing.

I've decided to weigh on Mondays from now on, to sync with you all, and I know I will have gained this week, as I have eaten for England over the past few days. (My job has a social side which often involves eating food that others have prepared, so it's really difficult to say "no thank you".)

One plus: I went to a fundraiser last night and won a large box of Roses chocolates. I left them in the car and am going to take them to my vet's surgery this morning: I will NOT have them in the house!

Sorry this is so long!

Stravaig · 20/11/2022 12:17

@whyhere Hello and welcome, the more the merrier!

I think you're very wise to be paying more not less attention at the end goal approaches. Excellent willpower and decision-making with the Roses 💪

whyhere · 20/11/2022 12:30

Thanks @Stravaig

No, they're sending me for swabs Wed evening
I've just been crying on the phone to my dad as it's just relentless lower abdo cramps
I feel like the UTI is going but the pain is exactly the same Confused basically like severe period pain

That's horrible. It's good they're investigating further, women are so often expected to suffer in silence. Meagre comfort though, I'm sorry xxx

Sodullincomparison · 20/11/2022 19:09

Hello!

just weighed in and at 15’ 4’ so that is seven pounds loss.

we have five days until our first Christmas party: aiming for a 4 pound loss by Friday. Ha ha ha.

go team! We’ve got this.

Kate

Sodullincomparison · 20/11/2022 19:10

@pelofondo hope this week brings some relief.

Stravaig · 20/11/2022 23:27

@Sodullincomparison Wow, seven pounds is fab! 🥳

Runnerduck34 · 21/11/2022 09:21

Congratulations @Sodullincomparison
That's amazing!!
If I lose 4lbs by xmas it will be an achievement let alone by Friday!!

My weigh in was less exciting.
I now weigh 78 kg which is down from 78.4kg last week. So grand weekly totally of 400g 🤣
Still at least my new whizzy scales are picking up that it is moving in the right direction all be it very very slowly.

I'm not being super strict either which is probably why it's so slow , just trying to eat smaller portions and no snacks in a 8 hour window of eating.
But was hoping for more impressive results if I'm honest - clearly still eating too much / or wrong foods for it to be a proper diet!!

SameKeyThough · 21/11/2022 09:23

Just weighed in. 13.0 stone exactly. So 0.4lb loss 😂. Brilliant. Well I suppose its better than a gain. Will have to keep plodding on.

illiterato · 21/11/2022 10:03

welcome @whyhere . I've got another 3-4kg to lose, having lost 3-4kg, depending on whether you asked me last week or this week- more on that below.

Well done everyone on the losses - slow and steady, amirite?

@PeloFondo hope they get to the bottom of it for you. sending healing vibes to your kidneys xx

So 1kg gain for me this week but I know it's not "real". Last week I was at the bottom of my cycle and had a really skinny weekend so low glycogen stores. This week I've been totally non-diligent so glycogen probably at peak capacity, fuelled by Maltesers. Now 70.4kg compared with 73.5kg when I started and "PB" of 69.1kg. Determined to have a good week this week and get back under 70kg. Got in the gym this morning and I believe I may just be able to see the outline of a bicep under the padding Grin.

whyhere · 21/11/2022 10:26

Completely forgot to weigh in (always do it minus clothes and before breakfast) as have woken up with yet another eye infection (long story - been going on for four months). Will remember tomorrow :-)

Stravaig · 21/11/2022 11:14

@illiterato MALTESERS!!!
I've not just bought a box of discount Black Magic, oh no, not I. Feels very retro.

You are inspiring me towards some (cautious) exercise (soon).
