It would appear that all I do is stuff my face with crap, lots of crap.

I'm going to try and sort myself out, starting tomorrow.

I'm scared, I'm useless at dieting but it's getting serious. I'm so unhappy, I caught sight of myself in the window walking past Costa coffee today. It was grim.

Anyone want to join me?

Weigh day tomorrow.

Trudging across a plateau here, the scales have barely moved since last Tues.
Today is the beginning of month 2. In the first 30 days I lost 6.5 kg.

TabithaTittlemouse · 29/10/2022 18:31

@Stravaig I’m not weighing until Monday but I doubt I’ll see much change.

Last Monday I was down by 7lb. I don’t want to loose much more but do need to keep watching my food and start with my Work PT (cancelled first session due to being unwell).

Stravaig · 29/10/2022 20:21

@TabithaTittlemouse I've tempted myself to journal too! I haven't for years.

Timing is tricky - if I do it first thing, I might be using up limited energy reserves I can't spare. But something is whispering to me that writing longhand might be really helpful for cognitive rehabilitation and brain-body rewiring. Evenings maybe, when I can.

PeloFondo · 29/10/2022 20:24

On my third type of antibiotics for this damn infection. More water...

Stravaig · 29/10/2022 20:30

@PeloFondo That sounds very not fun. Commiserations x

I like the idea of maybe writing a goal for the day and then a little bit in the evening about how the day went, any thoughts, what I could have done differently etc. I really want the 6 minute journal but it’s £25 and I could create similar in a plain notebook! I’ve fallen for the Instagram/TikTok hype!

PaulineFowlersCardigan · 29/10/2022 23:25

@Stravaig I'm not attending group, just joined online, I think it's the having some structure. Hoping to see a bit of a drop on Monday, def feeling better and moving more.
I don't know if it's journaling I do, it I wrote stuff in a notebook most evenings, just stuff I'm grateful for and also any of the negative feelings/emotional eating thoughts. It def helps to put it on paper physically I think. Well, it feels like it's helping! X
@PeloFondo that's amazing! Well done x

I'm finding it a bit hard to keep up with posts as mumsnet format has changed on my phone and it's hard to read! But I'm trying to keep reading everyone's posts xx

Sodullincomparison · 30/10/2022 17:30

Journaling sounds really interesting, I wonder if you’ll see any patterns with any emotional eating etc.

I’ve moved my scales upstairs to our en-suite. That’s the only way I’m losing weight this week. I have felt incredibly bloated for about five days now.

im a headteacher and we are expecting an inspection in the next couple of weeks so it is all go. I may try journaling everything so eat as I probably won’t have headspace to keep track whether I’ve even had lunch or not. 😂😂

Mummadeze · 30/10/2022 20:42

I have reached my rock bottom with my weight and would like to join you all. Diet starting tomorrow (Monday). Have been emotional eating for months and want to lose 3 stone. From 15 to 12.

TabithaTittlemouse · 30/10/2022 21:56

Welcome @Mummadeze ! You’ve got this!

illiterato · 31/10/2022 09:53

Woohoo! Into the 70. somethings at last. May have been slightly assisted by a bit of dehydration as had ahem "a couple of drinks" yesterday afternoon/ early evening, so my target this week is to stay in the 70.x's and not drift back up.

Went to the gym this morning. Have been doing a lot of dumbbell and one legged machine stuff the last few weeks to even out any unevenness between sides, and today graduated myself to the barbells. Nothing crazy but felt like progress. Tomorrow I attempt a run. I know I can do it as I managed Parkrun but so much harder on your own.

Fuck I'm so lardy, I've hit peak fatness and need to sort it out.
PeloFondo · 31/10/2022 10:03

Weighed in at 16.12 today so 21lbs down
Still on the water and antibiotics, this UTI/kidney infection is not for shifting!

RunningKatie · 31/10/2022 10:52

Stepping back in, been off with family stuff and half term. Still 2lbs off but so far to go.
Making a meal plan today then proper shopping tomorrow.
I need to fit back into my work wardrobe within the next 6 weeks, so some serious work to be done.

AnnieHoooo · 31/10/2022 10:53

Well done everyone! Keep going!

I Lost 1 pound this week.

Start: 15st 11lbs
Current: 15st 7lbs

What went well this week - packed lunch salads at work and batch making soups for evenings

What would make it better - Ditching the wine

Took my measurements today to start tracking that. God almighty this is a motivator.

Bust - 47.5"
Waist - 42"
Hips - 49"

WalkingOnSonshine · 31/10/2022 11:28

I’m still hovering around 82kg mark, so taking that as a win as I keep losing and gaining the same 2kg and sticking at 84kg.

Im starting a “reset” today to try and give me a kick start to get below 80kg.

Oats and soup on the menu for today!

Stravaig · 31/10/2022 16:35

Hello everyone!
1 kg down since last Monday.
Still trying to flush cystitis out, without going to the doctor for antibiotics.

@AnnieHoooo I wasn't brave enough to track measurements this time around, but I wish I had, because I'm sure my stomach has reduced dramatically already. Rewards for those who dare!

@PeloFondo Just trying that now! New for me - usually cranberry powder capsules work instantly. Fingers crossed

Sodullincomparison · 31/10/2022 18:43

@AnnieHooo snap!

Runnerduck34 · 31/10/2022 19:53

I have been.lapsing in the last week, weight still 79kg but at least its still below 80 . I'm hoping I won't be typing type same message every week til xmas🤣
Will try not to slink off and going to start again tomorrow with a stricter plan.
Well done to everyone whose lost this week.
Hope the rest of us can stick at it.

TabithaTittlemouse · 31/10/2022 21:31

Everyone is doing amazingly!
I didn’t weigh today because I slept so badly and was a mess this morning.

PaulineFowlersCardigan · 31/10/2022 22:11

Almost 4 weeks in and here I am still at 13st 2..
I am doing so well on the weekdays, then as soon as I start feeling a bit lighter (by the Friday) I eat and drink all wknd. I know I’m doing it. So why I’m doing it is beyond me.
i have done two weeks without a cigarette so I’m proud of that, but I’m sitting here tonight knowing that if I don’t do this now I’m going to be stuck in the same miserable place this time next year, so I’ve really got to pull myself together or just give up.

Maybe set a meal and plan where you can have something you really enjoy?
This sounds daft but I love the intergalactic Coke Zero so I have that as a kind of "treat" but there's no calories Grin

Obviously depends what you're doing at the weekend, the other thing I like doing is having something special that's good for me
Mine is feta, cherry tomatoes, avocado and tajin seasoning on nice toast. I don't usually have breakfast so that's my weekend blissful meal! Or sushi. I love it but can't afford it daily sadly

Or something totally not food related like setting aside some time for a bath or a new book. The heated eye masks you can get are cheap and a little mini treat

Stravaig · 01/11/2022 07:11

Random confession: my scales have an annoying habit of flickering between three weights then settling on the highest one. Usually I record this settled weight, but sometimes, if I'm fed up, and desperate to see progress, I'll take one of the lower two. Then pray it actually becomes the settled weight the next day. Anyone else play scale games?

Stravaig · 01/11/2022 07:13

@PaulineFowlersCardigan Stopping smoking is a huge achievement, well done!

There are studies which show it can be harder to split willpower between two goals, so it's understandable the food part is fraying around the edges at the weekend. You're doing twice as much as the rest of us! As not-smoking becomes habitual, it will be easier to focus on food. That's the theory, anyway :)
Don't give up!
