It would appear that all I do is stuff my face with crap, lots of crap.

I'm going to try and sort myself out, starting tomorrow.

I'm scared, I'm useless at dieting but it's getting serious. I'm so unhappy, I caught sight of myself in the window walking past Costa coffee today. It was grim.

Anyone want to join me?

Weigh day tomorrow.

@mittenskitten we're height and weight twins! 👋Well done on your weight loss so far 😊

Hi twin 👋🏻 It's nice to know its not just me. I seem to be carrying all my weight on my stomach and legs. I really want to have lost some by Christmas so I can wear a nice dress rather than hiding away in a baggy Christmas jumper and leggings. How about you?

LadyHester · 03/10/2022 13:38

So - lunchtime. Tofu and vegetable salad. Yum. Not.

PeloFondo · 03/10/2022 13:43

Today

17hrs fast (normal for me now)
Lunch - ham salad sandwich, pack of crisp puff things. Mini Kit Kat
30 min spin class after work to do
Probably 3l water as I drink a lot while exercising!

So - lunchtime. Tofu and vegetable salad. Yum. Not.

I had a lentil dhal (half pot) of soup, 3 x cheese oatcakes and that was it for lunch!

If I'm doing a salad I need to make it nice so I'll actually enjoy it - so carbs in there somewhere and/or huge dollop of cottage cheese.

My lunches where I lose weight:

Ryvita - either the Crackerwheat ones or normal. With cottage cheese. and veg crudites. or swap Ryvita for cheese oatcakes. What makes this slightly more bearable is Bachelors Minestrone Slim a Soup. I've done lunches like these and not much more apart from a light dinner and have definitely lost weight. However the lunches are the most boring thing ever.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 03/10/2022 14:26

The one pointers I'd say are:

Don't buy stuff which is stuff you'll be wanting to eat (and is bad for you). If it's not there, you won't eat it. Yes, it's hard not to add to your shopping trolley either virtually or in person but it really is best to try to train yourself not to do this.

But 'treats' - like Snack Organisation Sweet Chilli (Thai) rice things are nice, not too calorific and even if you do like I do and have a few one evening whilst watching TV, it's not the end of the world.

I bought because it was on offer - a Tony's Chocolonely bar - which I don't even get that much satisfaction from.

If you go out, either for walks/drives/outings etc - and you know you will want food or even to lunch make sure you bring the relevant drinks/snacks/lunch stuff so you won't be tempted to pig out on higher calorie options.

I have tupperware boxes which I put e.g. apricots/plums in for a snack. Make sure there's water there. And try to substitute green tea too. Often I find I don't even need the fruit, but it's there, it's healthier than other options.

I'm also thinking autumn/winter now, last year I'd have bought and eaten lots of vegan/veggie pies but they're so calorific. This year I've bought Quorn mince, I made a bolognese sauce with it but this will be a jacket potato filling or with spaghetti for dinner. I'm looking at doing a courgetti bolognese.

firefly123 · 03/10/2022 14:35

Weighed in at 13stone 9lbs today. crikey. Skirt so tight my circulation is cutting out....

thefurriesthen · 03/10/2022 15:13

@mittenskitten - I want to feel comfortable in my clothes again, which probably means I need to lose just over a stone. I'm amazed I fit into anything at the moment, good job my jeans have some stretch in them! 😅Would love to have lost a decent chunk before Christmas, as I have some lovely sparkly dresses. My main challenge will be surviving the festive madness as I do love Christmas food (and drink) 🍾🍾🍾

thefurriesthen · 03/10/2022 15:16

Btw, for anyone interested in recipe ideas, one of my go-to sites is SkinnyTaste as the author has overhauled a lot of treat/comfort dishes so they're a lot healthier. Tonight, I'll be making her lighter mac and cheese, which is yummy but only 261 calories per cup. I have a couple of her recipe books that I need to dig out as well!

Jenasaurus · 03/10/2022 15:41

Hi all

I weighed in this morning at 11stone 10, so no change although down from 14 stone 4 in July.

I am 5ft 4 and target is 8 stone 7 so just over 3 stone to lose.

Today for breakfast I had porridge and cherries
Lunch - Lean Mince and a stir fry
Snack - 25g Cashew nuts.
400 Cal left for dinner.

Good luck everyone x

Jenasaurus · 03/10/2022 15:54

I have one of those all singing dancing scales and noticed that my visceral fat in July was 15 (Excessive) its still high but its down to 12 now! Does anyone know what a normal amount of visceral fat is for a female in her late 60s, obviously the lower the better. My overall fat has gone from 47.6 to 42.2 percent need to get it down to 30 I think. Not sure how accurate the scales are but the weight loss of nearly 3 stone tallies with my doctors scales. This week I find out if my diabetes score has lowered (hoping to be prediabetic now) it was 80 in July (up to 42 is normal, 42-48 is prediabetic and well 80 is pretty awful...so low carb to get it down along with my cholesterol and hopefully will avoid medication.

Jenasaurus · 03/10/2022 15:55

Whoops I am not in my late 60s I am 57 (just feel older!)

Runnerduck34 · 03/10/2022 16:02

So fasted til 11, ate an apple.
Lunch 4 salt and pepper crackers , houmous and an orange.
For dinner I'm planning salmon , new potatoes and carrots.
I am ignoring daughters birthday cake that is calling my name but I am hungry!
I'm a bit rubbish at diet planning it just seems to take up so.much headspace but I've learnt that often when thought i was making a healthy choice I.e seeded brown bread calorie wise I'd be better off with white sliced!
I've managed to do my ancient Davina exercise dvd too.
Hopefully I can stick to it.
Good luck everyone

Hello!

I'd like to join you all please!

I weighed in at a shameful 123.7kg on 15 November last year. This morning I weighed in at 99.6kg. I've lost weight so far through a combination of LCHF Mumsnet Bootcamp, Louise Parker Method and am currently doing F800 for 12w. I like to mix it up! I'd like to get down under 90kg for Christmas and have bought a size 16 dress to wear (I'm around 5ft2in). I'm in between and 18 & a 20 just now.

I walk around 2 miles most days (today 4 miles 😇) and do occasional yoga. Exercise is getting a lot easier the more weight I lose.

I find it so difficult to have an off switch with food. I don't drink or have any other vices (other than spending money) but I think I have an addiction to food. I can easily sink 4 x Mars Bar ice creams in 8 mins (then another 4). I'm a secret eater and a binger and am constantly thinking about food/recipes/what I can eat. F800 has really worked for me as fasting/OMAD works as I just CAN'T eat during certain periods of the day but I am worried about what I'll do next come January and then maintenance (in the dim and distant future).

Anyway looking forward to doing this together! Daily accountability works for me. Thanks for starting the thread @HairyKnobsAndBroomsticks!

motherofawhirlwind · 03/10/2022 08:57

I've weighed. As expected so better than a gain given we're all poorly here and been existing on bread, ready meals and takeaways for the last week. I won't post my weight here as its so much more than everyone else but happy to chat offline if anyone else needs to drop half their body weight.

Please don't feel you can't post your weight on this thread (if you'd like to). I understand its disheartening when some have so much less to loose or feel lardy at 9 stone but we are all here to support each other. I am in the middle of losing a whole person (see my stats above) so I do understand.

spiderontheceiling · 03/10/2022 16:43

Good to read the determination in these posts.
I had a pleasant surprise when I stood on the scales this morning as, for the first time in years (literally), I weighed less on a Monday than I did on the Saturday. I have yo-yo'd the same pound for months now, losing it during the week and gaining it over the weekend and even when I was more hardcore about my dieting I'd lose two pounds during the week and put one back on over the weekend. What was the magic solution this weekend - exercising and, probably more importantly, not making a cake and a dessert. If it's not there, I can't eat it. And if it's not homemade, I can't lick the spoon, scrape out the bowl and eat various leftovers.
So this morning I weighed 11st3. I'm 5'4" so need to lose a stone for a healthy BMI. I'm focussing first on getting below 11st which has been my aim since Christmas, then 10st10 which is when my current clothes feel comfortable rather than tight, then 10st7 and then below that.
I look amazing at 9st12. Or at least I did 20 years ago when I was last that weight. I think I've only spend 3 weeks below 10st in those 20 odd years.
We're off on holiday in October half term so I want to be below 11st for that.

spiderontheceiling · 03/10/2022 16:47

Exercise - Monday is my rest day. I've done 10,000 steps and will no doubt do another 1500 or so before bed but I won't intentionally exercise today

Food - fasted for 16 hours; lunch was a pork chop with mash and plenty of veg; I'm always hungry at work in the afternoon so have had a banana, an apple with some cheese and two sesame ryvita; when I get home in an hour or so, I'll cook up a bowl of sprouts and munch on those and then have some butternut squash soup for tea.

Stravaig · 03/10/2022 17:37

Just to show it's possible to concoct a dodgy justification out of absolutely anything, I just caught myself thinking - 'I really like this thread, but I started a few days ago, so I really should eat this chocolate spread with a teaspoon, just to even things up' 😳 Bad brain!

motherofawhirlwind · 03/10/2022 20:32

I'm on 2200 cals a day so hoping my days food is OK to share, because it may sound like loads! I'm also recovering from a bloody horrible virus which means I can't move without coughing up a lung, so I am knackered and need to wean myself back off the easy carbs!

B - toast and lemon curd (364 cals)
L - Dairylea salad sandwich (322 cals)
D - half a cheese pizza, caesar salad, tomatoes. Chocolate mousse (779 cals)
S - Cheddar cruchlets (521 cals) 😮

So under cals but need to up the quality. Aiming to make some soup tomorrow.

AlwaysAWoman · 03/10/2022 20:36

I'm in! Want to lose about 4 stone but would be absolutely chuffed to lose a stone as a good start. I need to exercise more and will be calorie counting with my fitness pal

Sodullincomparison · 03/10/2022 20:54

Had Chocolate instead of breakfast or lunch today as work kicked my arse today.

not a great start healthy eating wise but probably ate a lot less calories.

DH made dinner following the meal plan which was steak pie and green veg. Had a slice of baguette as well.

so not an outstanding day but I’m happy I am willing to stand accountable to you all on the same challenge.

also pinched three marshmallows from DD.

tomorrow will be really tough at work with the CEO heading in but hopefully the business will keep me focused.

DolphinsAreEvil · 03/10/2022 21:12

Had a good day, managed to eat well with no rubbish, not sure how long I can keep that up 😂seriously craving a bar of dairy milk now though

Poppyrose22 · 03/10/2022 21:15

I weighed myself at the gym earlier, I’m 84.9kg. Shocked!! I thought I was in mid to high 70’s. I’m 5ft 8.5 inches tall. It’s the motivation I need though. I’ve eaten high protein low carb all day and I feel good for it. I did have a small portion of cookie dough pie earlier but much smaller than I would normally… so I count that as a win?!

HairyKnobsAndBroomsticks · 03/10/2022 21:18

I've barely moved all day, been tied to the laptop sorting out admin, including a two hour wait to speak to Eon trying to sort out my electricity account. It's been pretty stressful which would usually send me into a state of stuffing my face.

I had a small portion of lasagne which I made yesterday and a ham salad sandwich for tea. Quite a few cups of coffee and three small bottles of water.

I'm in bed watching Corrie. I can not trust myself to watch tv downstairs as I associate evenings with gorging on chocolate. I also remembered to take vitamins today.

All in all I'm pretty happy with my efforts. Would like to have got a walk in but it didn't happen. The thought was there though.

Well done for getting through today. We shall repeat tomorrow.

Apple and cheese as a snack sounds like a great idea and I am sure it will keep me full for longer than a chocolate would. Thank you for the suggestion!
