Where's the best place to buy from? And does a 1mg pen last 4 weeks? I'm a little confused

Thanks in advance

After reading this thread I was really nervous starting ozempic on 0.25 for fear of being sick, sulphur burps etc,. It I haven't had any of that luckily.
There's a great ozempic subreddit for people if they want more info or support from fellow injectors
I'm still pootling along on 0.25 and have dropped 9lbs since September 5th.
I've had some nausea but nothing major. The Reddit threads liken it to feeling like a normal person. When you're full, you say stop. I've never had that feeling before, there was always room...

Wallywobbles · 19/09/2022 20:06

I've started this evening on 0.25. Luckily my dr was willing to prescribe despite in still being at test level in France.

I thought the injection would hurt but I couldn't feel the needle. I did it mid thigh.

Wallywobbles · 19/09/2022 20:06

@ThisIsTrifficult can you link to the Reddit please.

Haven't shared a link before, hope it works.

To let people know,

The recommended time between these injections is 1 week, not 5 days and do not inject within 2 days of the first injection.

I don't agree with people taking this without medical supervision but please only injection once a week.

Ive seen people say on this they inject every 5 days. Please stop. It's every 7. You can develop very low blood sugar due to the half life of the drug.

I get mine from healthexpress and didn’t need to say I was already on it. Not sure if is the cheapest option but it was straightforward. You can eek out the 0.25 mg pen for two 0.5 mg doses after the first four 0.25 mg doses although the 1 mg pen would be the best value. It can be out of the fridge for 6 weeks in use but I imagine longer if you keep it in the fridge which I do.

I am on my third week at 0.5 mg and perhaps getting a bit impatient. I lost weight at the very beginning and am now maintaining. Probably not trying hard enough with the eating plan if I am honest. I do get full sooner than I would have. I am quite tired and anxious at the moment and wondering if the Ozempic is a part of that. I have been sick on two mornings since starting but no other major side effects.

Orangesandlemons82 · 22/09/2022 13:39

I'm really confused 🤔 I have the 0.25 pen and have just had my third dose. I turn the dial as the instructions say to .25 and press the button. I have had no side effects so thought I would increase to 0.50 now. So that in theory should be the whole pen used up. (4 doses of .25). But there is over half a pen full left?! I can't have been having the full dose but I don't see how that's possible when I have followed the instructions. Is there 4 weeks worth in one pen or is there more?

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 22/09/2022 13:50

The 0.25 and 0.5 pens are the same in contents so you can get 8 0.25 ml doses or 4 0.5 mg doses from it. (Or 4 0.2g and 2 0.5mg). Just wind up another 0.25 to double to the dose.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 22/09/2022 13:52

I think they don’t want you to use it for 8 weeks - it does seem a waste not to do this. And it is also cheaper than the 0.5mg pen although I am not sure you could get a 1 mg pen without going through the process of ordering each one in turn.

Orangesandlemons82 · 22/09/2022 14:15

@SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun thank you! I couldn't work out why I had so much left.

EloiseBridgerton · 24/09/2022 19:36

Sorry to be a pain but can someone spoon feed me how to get an online prescription (I seemed to need an appt..is that right?) and order it please? I’m being a bit pathetic but I’m lost!

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 24/09/2022 22:28

You answer questions online as part of the order process and then a doctor reviews your answers, (they may ask for more information)and then prescribes it for you.

EloiseBridgerton · 25/09/2022 07:44

Thank you

Wizzbangfizz · 25/09/2022 16:20

Before biting the bullet and buying this I was going to ring me GP and see if they would consider prescribing it - has anyone had if prescribed on the NHS - is it even worth asking?

My understanding is that it is only currently licensed on the NHS for type 2 diabetes, not weight loss. I am sure this will change but patients will have to have a high BMI and obesity related health complications.

helenabonhamfarter · 25/09/2022 17:01

I am happily back on 0.25mg per week, no side effects and definitely less hungry. Not sure I will be able to titrate the dose higher (I did after 4 weeks before and side effects were truly terrible). I know that there is little evidence that such a low dose will result in weight loss.
But I am definitely eating less, rarely hungry so it should help a bit. My loss will be slower than some but will stick at it!

Cheaper at least....

EloiseBridgerton · 25/09/2022 19:40

I’m still having bloody problems! I need an online prescription and followed the link to London pharmacy. It says you can get an consultation but when you follow the link it asks you who prescribed it. I’ve contacted them but haven’t heard back. Any clues?

ChocChipOwl · 25/09/2022 20:21

@EloiseBridgerton sometimes a small amount of err fibbing is required. I think I just put in 'Boots' or something

It isn't really for weight loss alone hence why a lot of places will ask you to confirm you're taking it for diabetes

Cantonet · 25/09/2022 20:41

Go to health express. I ordered Ozempic from there as you don't need to have been on it before.

DorotheaDiamond · 29/09/2022 11:07

Has anyone taken semaglutide as tablets? Health express offers both option!

ThisIsTrifficult · 01/10/2022 17:42

London pharmacy only offering 0.25 or 0.5 pens... Annoying!

HermioneWeasley · 03/10/2022 13:43

I’ve decided to give it a go and buy from my juniper. Does anyone have a discount or referral code?

thanks

EloiseBridgerton · 03/10/2022 16:11

I finally managed to get Amy hands on some ozempicfrom health express (thank you for the recommendation), who started me on 0.25 for 4 x weeks. So far no side affects or noticeable decrease in appetite. Waiting eagerly for the 0.5 dose 😆

HermioneWeasley · 05/10/2022 20:38

Did my first injection this evening. Looking forward to being 3 stone lighter tomorrow morning!

TraceyE3003 · 03/01/2023 13:30

Call me stupid (or not). I’m struggling to get my head around 1mg pen. Surely 0.5mg per week is only 2 weeks worth (0.5 + 0.5 = 1).
please clear this up for me before I purchase this. Thank you.
