Where's the best place to buy from? And does a 1mg pen last 4 weeks? I'm a little confused

Thanks in advance

@Grumbleton @DareDevil223 thank you both - I'll order some needles then I think.

Hmm, do I just go for it with a 0.5 dose? Haven't told my husband (err not that I have to run things by him of course!) but I've got visions of hideous side effects and having to tell him - he will literally roll his eyes out of his head Grin

I just would like to lose this last 21 lbs so I hope it's effective even though my BMI is still very firmly overweight

I started with a BMI of about 36 I think and good old fashioned exercise and healthy eating has got me to this point so it's time to finish the job and I need a hand now

OP posts:
FlorencePennnywell · 31/08/2022 21:07

@Grumbleton that's a great loss. Is that at 0.5 the whole time?

OP posts:
Grumbleton · 31/08/2022 21:24

No, I chose to go up the doses as quickly as possible and have been on 1mg for 2 months now. I did 1 week at 0.25 and 3 at 0.5 before moving up to 1mg.

the pharmacy I used prescribe 0.5mg as the starting dose for weight loss and I only started at 0.25 as I was worried about side effects. I didn’t feel hungry on 0.25mg but now on 1mg I physically can’t eat large amounts. I am careful to stop when I feel full though as I don’t want to be be or feel sick.

FlorencePennnywell · 31/08/2022 21:31

@Grumbleton that's helpful thank you. I think I'll try a tentative 0.25 and then see how I feel.

How much longer do you think you'll stick with it for? Until you've lost what you'd like to?

OP posts:
Grumbleton · 31/08/2022 21:43

@FlorencePennnywell its a long term thing for me, I promised myself I would do it a minimum of 12 months providing I didn’t have any major side effects and would reassess then. I will probably also try the higher dose Wegovy once released in the UK if not too expensive as that has even better results then Ozempic and I imagine the effects will wear off in time.

HanarCantWearSweaters · 31/08/2022 21:47

This is really promising to hear thank you. I can happily go about cooking something great for me, can go to the gym etc but then I’ll feel like a switch flips and I’ll want to eat and eat and eat. Feeling normal about food would be amazing.

I just read online that it can reduce the want for calorie dense rich food too which would be ideal, I really need to stop snacking on whole blocks of chocolate/whole bag of crisps etc.

OP do you mind if I tag along on your thread while you try it? I think I’m going to bite the bullet and do it too.

HanarCantWearSweaters · 31/08/2022 21:47

Sorry that was meant to be a reply to @DareDevil223 but it didn’t work

HanarCantWearSweaters · 31/08/2022 21:49

@Grumbleton any tips or things you wished you’d done/known when you started on it?

Grumbleton · 31/08/2022 22:05

@HanarCantWearSweaters Not anything you won’t have already seen sorry, I’ve been quite lucky with no side effects so I don’t do any of the rotating jab sites or especially having to watch what I eat - for example I’ve eaten a small McDonald’s burger and I felt full but fine whereas I know others have been sick if they eat anything too fatty.

I do calorie count and try to drink more water and the main thing is I don’t ever push past the feeling of being full (which as someone who has been known to binge is a first for me and I’ve found easy to do!). I do use chia seeds / dulcoease to keep everything moving and I try to remember that weight loss is not linear, so on the odd week I’ve had where I haven’t lost anything I still keep on tracking my weight and keep going. Good luck!

FlorencePennnywell · 31/08/2022 22:39

@HanarCantWearSweaters please do. Be good to hear how you get on too and we can compare

I always said I'd never do it but I've been so disciplined for 5 months now and can feel myself teetering!

Apart from the last week where I've been atrocious, I try and eat healthily but I know my portions can be a bit too big and I'd love to be more satisfied with 'lighter' food and portions. I always want some sort of carb with every meal and although I can limit it, it's through willpower

On the basis of finding this thread and all of your reports, I've just bought my first pen!
My BMI is around 27 I think, but no matter how active I am, I cannot shift the last stone. Never have. Best of luck to you all and I'll come back too! Hoping it arrives before the weekend party!

FlorencePennnywell · 31/08/2022 23:40

Welcome @ThisIsTrifficult I'm hoping mine arrives tomorrow - It was dispatched today and I believe they're time sensitive as require a cold chain so should be here shortly. I'm off out on Friday for dinner so I'm hoping I'll be feeling like some sensible eating!

What pen did you go for?

OP posts:
Sunshineandrainbow · 01/09/2022 00:09

Hi everyone, this sounds alike something that may help me with shifting 9 stone.
Does a pen last longer than 4 weeks? I can't really find anything on how many a doses it contains.. Is it more cost effective to buy a higher does pen and administer a smaller dose or does It not work like that!
Thanks

ThisIsTrifficult · 01/09/2022 06:40

@florencepennnywell opted for the 1mg and bought extra needles. Start on 0.25 and working up to 0.5. I don't have a huge amount to shift so hoping to be done in a month-6 weeks

Wallywobbles · 01/09/2022 07:04

What do you put for Name of the provider who initiated this treatment: e.g. GP, hospital specialist, an online pharmacy, etc?

ThisIsTrifficult · 01/09/2022 07:08

I said boots online pharmacy.

ThisIsTrifficult · 01/09/2022 07:11

@sunshineandrainbow I found it hard to understand how the pens worked too, but found a video explaining. The 0.25 pen contains 4x 0.25 doses and 4 needles.
I've just bought a 1mg pen with the aim to start at 0.25 for 2 weeks then 3 weeks at 0.5 and see how I go. I've bought extra needles too.
I hope I'm right with that! I have a definite stone to shift to bring my BMI into healthy, but there didn't seem to be a difference in cost. Slightly cheaper if you buy more and you get 5% off at the London pharm

FlorencePennnywell · 01/09/2022 09:31

Yes @Sunshineandrainbow like @ThisIsTrifficult says, I thought best to buy 1mg and take it from there. It took me a while to work out that that contained 4 x 1mg doses!

It's wise to start small I suppose - if the 0.25 is enough to suppress appetite then that's relatively cost effective as the pen will last a good while

Well mine is coming at 3.30pm - I take it it's nice and simple to work out ? Grin

Following with interest, I have just ordered my first pen from London pharmacy after reading about it on here. Will post when it arrives and how I get on. I have ordered the 0.25 one but hopefully can tolerate it and move up to a more therapeutic dose quickly

ThisIsTrifficult · 01/09/2022 09:58

Sharing the pen with DH too, so I wonder how we will get on.

We can both be terrible for mindless snacking whether hungry or not, so I hope it works for us.
I'm gonna tell him it's his birthday present though! Ha!
I hope to post back here with updates.

FlorencePennnywell · 01/09/2022 13:57

Quick question for those in the know

My pen arrived this afternoon and I'd like to start this evening I think.

Can I do so even though I've eaten like an absolute savage today? Just polishing off some chips for example! Or is it just use to wait until you've eaten properly? Or no discernible difference?

OP posts:
helenabonhamfarter · 01/09/2022 14:52

Should be fine I find it takes 24-48hours to take effect

FlorencePennnywell · 01/09/2022 15:49

@helenabonhamfarter thanks so much

FlorencePennnywell · 01/09/2022 15:51

I'm a bit confused!

Opened up my delivery and there are 2 x 1ml pens in there. I'm sure I ordered just one! Err do they come as a pair before I contact them? I am sure I ordered just one and was definitely just charged for the one

OP posts:
FlorencePennnywell · 01/09/2022 15:56

So I have two of these

Ozempic. Where to buy from?
