Actually I have no idea what weight to aim for but have at least 6 stone to lose (probably nearer 7 ). And I am stalking you on the other thread as well Evesmama!

Evesmama · 17/01/2005 11:46

i thought i saw someone behind me
im 'hoping'(all my bits crossed) to lose 4 stone, but even that takes me way above 'my ideal weight', so could also do with losing more like 6

MrsBigD · 17/01/2005 13:46

EM - I'd say tackle it bit by bit... I'm first aiming to get into my jeans size 14 (before ds) and then into my jeans size 12 (that was before dd)

PuffTheMagicDragon · 17/01/2005 16:52

Welcome Evesmama - I agree with MrsBigD, approach the weight loss in stages. I do mine in half stone blocks and have a big celebration when I go under a "stone" marker. If I get to my final target, I will have lost around 7 - 8 stone; all put on in the last 4 years !

bran · 17/01/2005 17:16

Welcome Evesmama and Flossam, nice to see you both .

I'm finding this week a little difficult as I went down two points. I'm staying within the points reasonably easily, but I miss having a couple of spare points to play with at the end of the day. Whips out please to make me exercise and earn some bonus points - I've basically been sedentary since Christmas.

All this talk of size 14s and 12s is making me , I'm hoping to be a size 18 very soon. I've tried to be patient but it does make that I've lost 2 stone (nearly) and haven't changed size yet.

FineFigureFio · 17/01/2005 17:20

Bran you must carry weight like me, i can lose loads and not alter dress size. it will come for you im sure very soon.

Apparently 16 lbs is what you have to lose on average to change a dress size, it is way over that for me!

bran · 17/01/2005 17:26

Do you have a big tum FFF? I think my waist size hasn't changed that much, although my hips are much smaller and I've gone down a bra size. (I use the word "waist" in its loosest possible sense as I'm pretty much barrel shaped between my ribs and my hips)

FineFigureFio · 17/01/2005 17:27

hhhmmmm yes I blame it on the fact i have had 2 c-sections although it most probably has nothing to do with that

i hate it how breasts always shrink before anything else!

bran · 17/01/2005 17:35

I don't even have the c-section excuse - the only excuse I have is genetic. None of the women on my father's side have a waist, at the last family wedding we all turned up in versions of the same dress (bias-cut shift dress with full-length over-dress or jacket) . I suspect there is also a genetic dislike of exercise, so it's not that I'm a lazy cow at all, I'm just doomed by my genes.

FineFigureFio · 17/01/2005 17:45

LOL

MrsBigD · 17/01/2005 17:52

bran... sizes are relativ to hight

In the weird and wonderful land of 'this is the size you should be' I should make it to a size 8/10... well that's never going to happen! good thing dh loves curves

as for c-section and lack of waistline... most definitely

LunarSea · 17/01/2005 18:38

bran - you might find that even if it takes time, when it does happen it'll be quite sudden.

I had to lose 5 stone before I could get into a smaller size. Nothing I did could shift anything from my bust or hips, but I lost loads from my waist. That just meant that not only did smaller sizes not fit (bust/hips too small) but the old sizes didn't either (too big and baggy around the waist.

Funnily enough since I've started losing again (having gained 12 lbs in 15 days in the runup to Christmas) it's now coming off my hips/bum instead of my waist. So although I'm not actually any lighter than I was at the start of December I have suddenly started to be able to buy size 14's (and they're not even tight) for trousers instead of 18/20's.

FineFigureFio · 17/01/2005 18:45

gosh lunarsea, have you lost that much! You looked very slim on the christmas meet up pics

PuffTheMagicDragon · 17/01/2005 18:48

LunarSea - 5 stones - very well done to you .

bran · 17/01/2005 21:09

Lunarsea, well done on your 5 stone loss, and taking off your Christmas weight. I'll look foward to my sudden change in size, I really hope I don't have to wait for 5 stones off though . It would be very handy to suddenly drop several sizes at once though and save the cost of buying clothes in every size.

MrsBigD, I've always suspected that I'm not tall enough, but I'd have to be well over 6ft to look right in a size 20 . I'll never be less than a 14 (on top at least) as that's what I was as a teenager when I was only just over 9 stone as I have a huge ribcage and big bones (no, really, in my case it's true). Even when you could see all my ribs I still needed a bra size 36.

bunny2 · 17/01/2005 21:45

Hi, can I join in? I have got to shift some of this lard or else . I am 5'11 and look good at a size 14 but have been a 16 since ds was born 4 years ago. Since the birth of dd 7 weeks ago I cant get my size 16 jeans near me and have been given some 18s by a once big and now slim friend. I have no idea what I weigh and refuse to get on the scales until I have at least shed a little. I am losely following a low GI diet and have goven up alcohol except at weekends (today was the first day of this and I have succeeded so far!). My goal is to be back in my 16s by April 1st (my birthday) and back to a 14 by summer.

Flossam · 17/01/2005 22:03

Hi again everyone! Not a very good day food wise, quite a bit of walking but no Davina today! Will try harder tomorrow. I was hoping that if I manage to loose most of my weight whilst I was breastfeeding I might have, like, a few months with gurt big boobs before they start to look at my knees! Something to aim towards!

Fi0, we do sound similar! I brought the size 16s in the sale without trying them on as my first pair of 'target trousers'. Thought I'd try them on for a laugh when I got home and they are a really nice fit! A bit loose round the waist, but tighter lower down . I haven't dared to try any others on yet, although I do fit in my jeans that I got into at the start of my pregnancy (they were loose then ), just in case they are a particularly roomy size 16!

Lunarsea well done you! That's excellent. And Evesmama, DP has probably even more weight than me to loose, he went up with me as I was pregnant, but is seeming a little more reluctant than me to do anything at all about it! He is a member of a gym and has been twice in ten weeks! Oh, and those visits were followed by a trip to the pub... so not really worth anything at all! I keep trying, subtly and tactfully that he is huge! Harder than you would think...

My size is apparently genetical too, all my fathers fault. He had a big bum. He is also a complete arse, whom I think it is fair to say I have nothing to thank for, oh, apart from the arse of course

Flossam · 17/01/2005 22:04

Bunny!! Lovely to see you! x

bunny2 · 17/01/2005 22:06

Hi Flossam, glad to share another boars with you! Size 16s loose round the waist..... .

Welcome bunny2 .

Flossam · 17/01/2005 22:11

Only one pair of trousers bunny, and tight around the bum!!!

MrsBigD · 18/01/2005 08:24

I'm just glad I've got 1 pair jeans to wear ... they're a size 14 BUT mega stretch so lots of lee-way (I currently take an 18 )... the good thing about those jeans... they hold it all in. Well more or less. Have to wear baggy T-shirt to disguise the roll that gets squeezed out at the top and keeps getting pinched by dd

PuffTheMagicDragon · 18/01/2005 09:46

My weekly weigh in (upstairs in my bathroom!) today and I've lost 2.5lbs .

I'm relieved and pleased as "time of the month" week is always tricky for cravings even on the GI diet. But, I bought a fruit mountain a few days ago (satsumas, grapes, cherries and lychees) and just kept eating my way through that whenever I felt the bread or chocolate calling me from the fridge.

I don't know why, but I feel very daunted today by how much I still need to lose. Nearly 3 stone to get into a healthy BMI zone and 5 stone to reach my dream weight.

I've already lost more than 3 stone - its such a long road.

Help . I need a pep talk!

MrsBigD · 18/01/2005 09:57

PTMD

Well done for loosing 2.5 lb despite the time of the month cravings... I wasn't that strong and had the odd biscuit

Anyhow... YOU WILL MAKE IT AND LOOSE THOSE OTHER 3-5 STONE [SMILE] you've already shown to yourself that you are able to loose 3 stone so 1/2 way there
