Two week kick-start

CourtneeLuv · 25/07/2022 07:10

Hi, I've been messing around lately, and not lost anything, have even put on. I have around 3st to go, already lost 3st.

I have an event in two weeks, and am going to try to get back in the zone and lose some bloat to try to feel good in my outfit. I'll keep it going past the two week mark too.

Anyone want to join me?

Starting weight 182lbs
Goal weight 133lbs
(my scales are in pounds)

162.6lb

That 2.6lb needs to go in the next week. By next Friday I want to be under 160lb.

What did your GP say about your fasting and intentions to do the same for next week? Did they give you any medical advice?

She said fasting and low carb will be good for me. I told her I started in Sunday night before my fasting blood test on monday morning and carried on and will be going til dinner time tonight.

I'm thinking about not eating from 8pm until 12pm the following day. So I think they call this 16:8 fasting.

Can I still have a tea / coffee / water during the fasting hours?

CourtneeLuv · 28/10/2022 11:00

I used to do 12-8. I have water, tea (with a tiny bit if milk and sweetener) and stock cube drinks when fasting.

I broke the fast at dinner time, when I aimed to.

I had: Chicken and veg soup.

Fish and salad.

Then I felt like I've got a bone stuck in my throat so ate a bit of chicken to try and dislodge it. Hasn't worked.

20g sugar free dark chocolate.

Everything google says to eat to unstick a bone is sugary (marshmallows) or carby (bread etc) so I don't know what I'm going to do if it doesn't sort itself. I'll have to go to the medical centre.

This is why I don't bloody like fish. Tbf it was nice. It was merluza/hake, so I just pan fried it then put salt and lemon on it.

OP posts:
christmas2022 · 29/10/2022 16:58

Shame about the bone hope you've managed to dislodge it.

How was it eating food aside from that?

CourtneeLuv · 29/10/2022 20:20

Yes it's gone now thank you. I just left it alone. Eating food has been fine, today I had 2 sausages (I went to the butchers, these were ordinary cumberlands, I got some lamb balti ones too) bacon and an egg, and then a cesar salad, I added cherry tomatoes and coriander (didn't eat the crutons) and some white anchovies in olive oil, garlic and herbs, and some olives.

I had 'breakfast' at a bit after two and finished my dinner at just after 7. Not intentionally, I went out this morning and ate once I was back.

161.8lb this morning

Aim to be under 160lb by Friday

Drinking lots of squash as not so good at straight water and that's helping to reduce the bloat.

CourtneeLuv · 01/11/2022 08:20

You can absolutely do that in a week 💪 will you be doing any exercise?

I'm 189.1 this morning.

I wanted to get back in the gym this week and thought the 1st would be a great day, do something every day this month, but I still can't walk properly on my ankle and my elbows are still a bit off. I might try some yoga at home.

I had a good weekend, lots of salad and no junk.

Started another fast after dinner and pudding (greek yoghurt, pb & honey) on Sunday so 36 hours in this morning and feeling well so far.

christmas2022 · 01/11/2022 08:56

I'm not good at getting the exercise in if I can walk and get some steps then I'll be happy.

When are you fasting until?

CourtneeLuv · 01/11/2022 10:35

I'm aiming for Friday dinner time again.

161.2

Aim to drink lots of water and have a low carb day. May have omlette for lunch to get the protein in.

CourtneeLuv · 02/11/2022 08:24

Well done! You're going in the right direction 👏

186.3 this morning. 60 hours into my fast and I'm planning what I'm planning what I'm going to eat this weekend 😆

OP posts:
christmas2022 · 02/11/2022 08:27

Yours has gone down quick too.

CourtneeLuv · 02/11/2022 09:06

Yes I was surprised how much it jumped up on the weekend but I'll be more careful with my choices this weekend.

OP posts:
CourtneeLuv · 02/11/2022 16:26

God I'm wavering! This week is harder than last week 😫

The hunger isn't even the problem, I just WANT to eat something.

I know these last few days are where I'll see the most benefit now, after day 3 and I should be in ketosis, but then I think if im in ketosis it doesn't matter if I eat some protein/fat. I've got an unopened 400g block of cheese in the fridge and its calling me 😂

Even an omellete would be fine, but then that cancels out any autophagy and other benefits like that.

OP posts:
christmas2022 · 02/11/2022 19:59

What is the ketosis and autophay?

CourtneeLuv · 02/11/2022 21:47

Thos is a good article that explains it all: dralexisshields.com/guide-to-fasting

Ketosis is where you switch over from burning glycogen (converted from the sugars and carbs you eat) to burning your own fat reserves. If you eat low carb enough you don't knock yourself out of ketosis. Supposedly, you don't need to calorie count if you don't eat carbs but I've found I do now. The carbs also raise blood glucose which is why its better as a pre/diabetic to cut them out or keep them low.

Autophagy is a stage you get to where your cells and immunity etc can chuck out the old and bring in the new. Because your body isn't processing food, it can concentrate on itself, renewing cells and getting rid of old and dodgy ones.

christmas2022 · 03/11/2022 07:14

Sounds interesting I'll take a look. Do you generally stay away from carbs when you're not fasting?

christmas2022 · 03/11/2022 07:26

161.4 - highly unlikely I'll be below 160lb by tomorrow.

However I'm happy with where I am and will keep going. By NEXT Friday I want to be below 160lb though.

I know things get a bit wobbly on the weekend so tend to have to pull it back from a Monday.

christmas2022 · 03/11/2022 07:27

Will try to not have so many treats this weekend so I don't have so much work to do next week to getting below that 160 mark.

CourtneeLuv · 03/11/2022 09:53

You can do it, make a plan for the weekend so you know what younare going to have, that's what I'm going going do.

Yes, I don't eat bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, flour, sugar, sweets etc when I'm eating properly, to manage mu blood sugar without medication.

OP posts:
CourtneeLuv · 04/11/2022 06:23

184.6 lbs / 13st 2 lbs
5.6 mmol

106 hours fasted. Still feel fine but am ready to break at dinner time. I've found just wanting to eat because I want to harder this time, I haven't felt hungry but I've just wanted to eat anyway 🤷‍♀️

I'm going to have some homemade spanish tortilla (cauliflower instead of potato, so low carb) and pancetta for dinner, I have been fancying baked camembert so may have that tomorrow with mushrooms for dipping, and lamb balti sausages and veg on Sunday. I know these sausages are processed, but they are seriously amazing, and very good quality from the butchers.

My ankle is still iffy so no extra steps or exercise yet.

christmas2022 · 04/11/2022 07:39

That's a good few pound lost this week then well done and enjoy your food. Will be interesting to see where you start and end on your next fast to see if it is really making a net difference to your weight loss.

I was 160.4lb so close but happy with that and hoping it will keep me going to not undo my hard work.

Drinking 3-4 pints of water has been my key this week.
