Started calorie counting today and have one burger left. Don't feel satisfied after eating one so thinking about giving them up.

May try switch to protein shakes when it's warm or for a change from soup.

BeyondMyWits · 16/07/2022 09:11

Hiya all... Well, I put on a pound this holiday 15st 12.... so I'm not too bothered. I did make different choices from normal where I would think nothing of 3 or 4 pounds weight gain. So I'm taking it as a win and will redouble efforts over the weekend.😀

Newdawnfreedom · 16/07/2022 15:13

Count me in please! I managed to lose 2st through low carb/sugar a few years ago and managed to put it all back on again following relationship (10 yrs 2 kids) breakdown and my Dad dying last year. I'm determined to lose it again so I can start enjoying my new life of freedom. My problem is consistency. I'll be great all week and then throw it all away at the weekend or on holidays.
Good luck everyone, great to have this support!

poorpaws · 16/07/2022 15:25

@Newdawnfreedom welcome. I'm sorry you've had such a hard time. There is a lot of support here without judgement. I am exactly like you but I do well for three days, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and then I'm totally hopeless for the rest of the week. Every Monday I think it will get better this week but it never does.

I hope everyone is doing well, I've had a disastrous couple of day of non-stop eating. Agh I never learn.

Hope you are all managing to keep cool.

What food do you non stop eat Poorpaws?

I hopefully had my last burger for a long time this morning. Trying to be extra good as I feel an alcohol session looming.

At parents house today so need to try keep away from their biscuit tin and not so hidden stash of chocolate (hidden from my daughter).

endlesswashing · 17/07/2022 08:32

@BeyondMyWits only a pound gain during a holiday is impressive, I can gain more during a regular weekend.

Welcome @Newdawnfreedom

I'm the same @poorpaws I find weekends more difficult.

@TalkToTheHand123 dodge the treats is a professional sport here, sadly I'm not at elite level.

Have a good day everyone.

TalkToTheHand123 · 17/07/2022 09:42

Very true @endlesswashing and I know I can succumb at anytime.

I may pop to Aldi on way home today. Can't remember if they have any protein powder or not. Will make do with alternatives as not trapesing to Asda.

BeyondMyWits · 17/07/2022 12:14

Hiya all, just trying to keep cool without consuming too many calories. Water is OK, but then I get cravings for for salt as I guess there's an imbalance there... and pringles are the best vehicle for salt 😊

poorpaws · 17/07/2022 13:25

@TalkToTheHand123 Haha I eat any kind of food non-stop. Chocolate, cake, sweets, crisps, ice cream, ice lollies, cereals ... the list is endless.

After yet another brilliant start to the week, I've ended it with days of endless eating and I will surely gain this week.

We went to a holiday park clubhouse last night. I had a dance with DD and it was filmed on a phone without my knowledge (just a very short piece). OMG 😱 I looked disgusting, like an elephant or hippo gigging about with no style whatsoever. I'll not be doing that again and hopefully it will give me incentive to do my exercises which I've been talking about doing for months.

I am struggling again after re-finding my oomph recently, I fear its lost again.

TalkToTheHand123 · 17/07/2022 16:00

Aww. Watching myself on cctv usually gives me a kick. Lately it was viewing myself in the mirror at the gym.

Shops on route home didn't have any protein powder so will try again tomorrow. (Haven't got much left, so on rations).

Going to make some smoothies and soup later.

Theredjellybean · 17/07/2022 20:48

Hi... All, I'm back from holiday. I literally am in bed crying.
I went to hotel gym everyday and did weights or hiit.
I had two alcoholic drinks only each day and two dry days.
I didn't eat breakfast, I didn't eat any bread or chips or other starchy carbs for four out of 7 days..
I didn't have seconds at the buffet and only had small portions and I mean small, and no salad dressing.
I had three icecreams and one tiny bit of baklava all week.
Yesterday I admit I ate a tube of pringkes
And I drank iced lemon tea most days x 2-3.
I have gained 3.5 kgs... That's half an effing stone.
I mean how on earth are you guys only gaining 1lb?
I will weigh again in the morning but it just seems so unfair, I'm back to where I was in March.
I've got mfp set to lose 1kg a week, so in 6 weeks when I go away again I guess I could be a stone lighter.
But it really going to be tough.

Newdawnfreedom · 17/07/2022 22:20

Thanks for the lovely welcome @poorpaws and @endendlesswashing Try not to worry too much about the holiday gain @theredjellybean I've done that before +6lb and it was all water weight. I bet if you get back on track and drink lots of water it will come off again within a week.

I'm planning a walk and swim at 7.30 tomorrow morning with a pal. Hopefully a positive start to the week will set me up well.

poothtaste · 17/07/2022 22:42

Joining. Everything been hurting recently and I know it's down to weight. Have been on scales and have put on three stone in six months. FFS. Time to get it off.

TalkToTheHand123 · 17/07/2022 23:45

@Theredjellybean For me even a little of the wrong food increases my weight a lot. I gave up hoping the gym would make much difference after a few solid weeks there. Totally agree with drinking plenty water to help lose weight.

I've stuffed my face a bit today but all good food and not too much gain. On soups and protein drinks tomorrow.

poorpaws · 18/07/2022 07:48

@Theredjellybean if it's any consolation at all I've gained 3.75 lbs this week and I haven't even been on holiday ☹️ and I've eaten carefully all day (small salads for lunch), it's my evening 3 hour period when I just binge that's made me gain. Please stay with us, you'll get the weight off for your next holiday and if I remember correctly you aren't very much overweight anyway (I realise that isn't the point), I'm sure you look good.

@poothtaste. Welcome, I hope you find this thread useful for you, we are quite lovely 😀

@TalkToTheHand123 you sound to be doing well on your soup and as soon as the cold weather arrives I will be joining you. Keep up the good work.

@Newdawnfreedom Swim at 7.30 am, you deserve half a stone off just for that 🤣 it sounds like you will have a good week.

... and so to me
Had a terrible end to the week, must do better, this is just not good enough. I can really feel these extra pounds and they have to go. More housework this week, less sitting eating in the evenings because I am bored.

Have a lovely sunny Monday everyone.

ClinkeyMonkey · 18/07/2022 08:24

@poorpaws I think you and I might be in sync🤣 I'm doing ok in the day time, then troughing in the evening. Yesterday, though, I fed my face all day because it was DS1's birthday. SIL was here and she didn't eat any cake or sweets. She has a lot of weight to lose and seems, after a few years of false starts, to be 'in the zone' and is just quietly getting on with it. I was careful not to try and talk her into eating anything she didn't want to eat, because I hate when people do that to me! Starting again today!

Theredjellybean · 18/07/2022 11:02

@poorpaws thankyou, you have made me feel so much better.
Sorry your still struggling but onwards and downwards for the scales.
I did weights this morning at training and weighed again, it was better at 74.4
So 2.5kg gain or 5.5lbs
Last Yr I did exactly the same, went away early July, came back at 74.9 kgs, got to 70 kgs for late August holiday, then bounced around for a Yr,
So can do it again... 😢

TalkToTheHand123 · 18/07/2022 11:07

My evening eating habits needs addressing too. For some reason I struggle to go to bed earlier than midnight when it's just me.

Doing a 9 to 5 Mon to Fri this week for an induction and only have protein powder with me today. Hoping my local Asda have a pack in stock as not much left.

I'm on 5pm finishes this week so touch wood should be able to get to bed a bit earlier. Target is 9pm.

poorpaws · 18/07/2022 11:59

@TalkToTheHand123 the sad thing is I do go to bed early. It all started many months ago when I was binge eating until 11pm.

For a long time now I aim to be in bed by 9.15 (I do get up earlier too) and I usually manage to do it. The big problem is it hasn't stopped my evening binges. It is surprising and embarrassing just how much I eat between 6pm and 9pm and that is after a meal at 5-ish. I can just eat and eat and never feel full.

I have to get this under control because for the rest of the day I eat sensibly and don't snack at all. It means a 3 hour period is scuppering all my hard work. I intend to start tonight and instead of sitting watching tv (which I'm not even keen on) I'm going to do housework, walk the dogs or do my exercise dvd (which I've been threatening to do for months and haven't done once).

I feel really, really big today so action has to be taken.

I hope everyone is coping with the heat.

poorpaws · 18/07/2022 12:12

@ClinkeyMonkey strangely enough my SIL is now in the zone after being big most of her life. She started losing weight by stopping grazing on 8 May and has lost 2lbs every single week without fail. She is just getting on with it without a fuss and is starting to look amazing. I, on the other hand, have been dieting for 1 year 1 month and bore everyone to tears with my (lack of) effort. There's a big lesson for me there.

I have been wandering around half the day patting my big stomach saying "this is no good", "this isn't good enough", "this has to go". Perhaps my "oomph" is back.

OP posts:
anybloodyname · 18/07/2022 13:52

@poorpaws I feel exactly the same and behave exactly like you

When I found my oomph .. I was painting my nails , face mask on , slathering nice moisturiser on my scraggy old neck and backside

Anything to keep busy , self care and away from the kitchen

BeyondMyWits · 18/07/2022 14:11

I'm toooooooooo hot.

That is all.

H1Drangea · 18/07/2022 15:33

I’m too hot too ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️🥵
Only on an amber warning ( Wales , it always rains , right ? )
34°c.
Too hot
Living on icecream and Sauvignon Blanc , unsurprisingly , no weight lost last week , but none put on either , so not too bad

Readytostartagain · 18/07/2022 16:51

Far to hot in south London. Can’t stop eating and put on another 2 lbs this week which makes 5 in 3 weeks. I just can’t stop eating particularly evenings like others but also in the day. Going to get through the next couple of days on magnums then try and work out what the issue is. I’m
back on iron tablets as I know sometimes it’s a sign I’m anaemic again but feels more emotional than just that. It’s just too hot to try and unpick today but will do so as I need to change

endlesswashing · 18/07/2022 17:26

Boiling here and have consumed a huge amount this afternoon.....😫
