Good work

I am four pound up today from last week. No idea what’s going on. Losing the four was probs only because I was Ill and I did eat like ten men! 😅

poorpaws · 11/07/2022 21:04

Aww tomorrow's another day, maybe a new start @Mumstheword2022 .
At least if you are feeling better you can claw this back. I hope you aren't too disappointed.

2lb on for me this week to add to the 2lb I put on on holiday. I just can’t stop eating- not sure whether it’s hormones or greed😃 want a new start tomorrow if you want to join me @Mumstheword2022 I could go with a buddy

Mumstheword2022 · 11/07/2022 21:56

@Readytostartagain !

let’s do it x

No one is judging us here …

TalkToTheHand123 · 11/07/2022 23:52

What you been eating @Readytostartagain ?

I've finally remembered to have a day of drinking plenty water. Has done wonders. I've started doing my gentle tummy clenches again too.

Vebrithien · 12/07/2022 06:42

Morning all,

I came back! I've been reading along intermittently through the week, but Tuesday is weight in day for me.

I'm down 1.3 kg this week, to 98.9 kg. It feels great to be finally into the double figures. Also, a couple of my lightweight summer tea dresses for around the waist again, so it's felt very positive.

I've had plenty of wobbly moments (give me all the cold beer. And peanuts!). Have tried to go for an hour walk, in the cooler evening, if I've had a not great day.

Hope today is a good day for you all!

H1Drangea · 12/07/2022 07:00

Good morning , good morning ☀️

had a good day yesterday , got up early and did all the ironing before it got too hot ( have BnB and had piles of white , Egyptian cotton duvet covers and sheets to do ) can stand and watch tv today and do the pillow cases

I’m currently watching The Royals on Netflix , have a bit of a crush on Liz Hurley ( the Queen ) she’s about my age , and looks amazing .Joan Collins plays her mother and also look incredible … anyway ,

We went for a walk last night , when it was a bit cooler then came back and had strawberries , meringue and Icecream , which wasn’t on the plan , but apart from that , a good day

Off to the Botanic Gardens for a walk today with DSister

Good result @Vebrithien jumping down into the next level ✅

Keep drinking the water / other fluids are available

It’s not quite 7 am , and it’s already 19° c in Wales and we’re not in the heat wave zone !

poorpaws · 12/07/2022 08:05

@Readytostartagain and@Mumstheword2022 I'm sending you tons of oomph and positivity. It's great to have a diet buddy and helps us keep on track. My diet twin is @triplecheeese but she's way ahead of me now. That doesn't mean I can't catch up one day, I just had a very bad few weeks and she flew ahead. It's not a race though and she's very supportive.

I had a great day yesterday, I did really well. Got up early and got the dogs out before 8:30, had a small salad for lunch. I made a few alterations to my diet which should help. I had a big bowl of strawberries instead of my normal fruit salad in orange juice But the main difference was I swapped the huge bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes (I think I'm addicted to them) for supper and had ONE shredded wheat. I have to admit I was very very hungry this morning but if I can keep this up I'll have a really good loss this week.

Happy Tuesday everyone, I hope you all have a lovely day and just do what you can!

@TalkToTheHand123 what haven’t I been eating 😃 though peanut butter has been a big thing and last time I had a run on that it turned out I was anaemic so I might restart the vitamins. Planning lots of sugar free squash today as it’s baking already and hopefully less snacks.

well done @Vebrithien that’s brilliant and I’m impressed with ironing @H1Drangea that’s super keen in this weather

H1Drangea · 12/07/2022 09:36

@Readytostartagain i had no clean sheets in my linen cupboard and a changeover to do tomorrow!
It wasn’t through choice !

BeyondMyWits · 12/07/2022 11:25

Just a quick drop in... at Center Parcs watching the deer from our window.

Arrived and ate out last night, had prawn fajitas which were delicious, loaded with peppers and onions, and under 800 calories which was marvellous considering how enjoyable they were. Had a swim and mess about in the water for 2 hours and about an hours walking too. Slept well.

Hope everyone is coping with the hot weather.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 12/07/2022 23:09

@BeyondMyWits I've never been to Centre Parcs but that sounds lovely! I'm thinking of booking a PGL holiday - partly to occupy the DC and partly so DP actually has to get off his arse and move for a few days! - the surroundings look lovely there too.

Apologies for going AWOL @poorpaws, we had a sickness bug going round last week... after a few days of nursing the vomiting DC I came down with it myself, spent two days being sick and feeling very rough, followed by more days with not much appetite. I can promise you all though I was in no imminent danger of fading away Grin

I lost 2lb this week. There are definitely more pleasant diets!!

PinkStarAtNight · 13/07/2022 01:30

Hi everyone,
Haven't had

PinkStarAtNight · 13/07/2022 01:38

Aaah sorry posted too soon 😂

I meant to say....

Hi everyone,

Haven't had chance to read through the whole thread but I came across the weight loss section of mumsnet and found this thread and would very much like to join, if you'll have me?

I've put on LOADS of weight in the last couple of years - have gone from a size 10 to a size 18/20 since covid, but can't stop bloody eating!! I keep telling myself I will start on Monday but keep falling back into wanting 'nice' food and 'nice' meals. I don't know what's wrong with me.

I want to really commit to it now. My GP has referred me to 12 weeks free on a weight loss programme and I really want it to work, but I'm also scared that knowing me it won't and I'll be stuck like this forever.

You can tell I'm feeling sorry for myself can't you? 🤣 I think that's part of the problem - comfort eating!

Anyway any support I can get right now is much appreciated and I'd like to be part of a friendly and supportive community 😊

poorpaws · 13/07/2022 07:58

@PinkStarAtNight welcome. We really are a lovely supportive group, stick with us because we are all in the same boat.

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl so sorry you and the DC haven't been well but a 2lb loss ... silver lining!

DP is still decorating his flat and I still want him under the patio. Aren't a lot of men selfish buggers 😡

The food is still going well (although I permanently feel hungry), the exercise not so good. I walk the dogs early because of the heat, have to water the garden (absent DPs job) but apart from that it's just too hot to move. I shouldn't moan though because I love summer. It's going to be too hot to go out at the weekend I think.

Have a good Wednesday everyone, keep trying your best.

BeyondMyWits · 13/07/2022 08:27

Morning all.... 3 deer outside the bedroom window this morning!!! And OMG... 26000 steps yesterday, I'm pretty sure most were uphill!!!! Another and... I do love the calories being on the menus now, means I make better choices from the things I love to eat, which to be honest are all on the higher calorie side.

Hiya to all the newbies and the oldbies! It is lovely here, checking in on the thread every day or 2 is really helping me, I guess it is a little reminder... like going to a slimming group but much less judgmental.😁

poorpaws · 13/07/2022 14:42

@BeyondMyWits glad you're staying with us even on holiday. I am envious but have a great time (you've definitely got the right weather). Which one are you at?

OP posts:
BeyondMyWits · 13/07/2022 21:27

Hiya... we are at longleat. Lovely but hilly.

Did laser clay shooting earlier, was lots of fun, but also hard work. Dd19 (today, 20 tomorrow!!) won out of 10 people, she did well. Then we ate at the pancake house and went for an evening swim. Lovely day, not too much food and lots of exercise.

Every time we came back to the lodge it was like a scene from Snow white.. deer, squirrels, rabbits, jays, robins, finches...

poorpaws · 13/07/2022 21:35

Sounds really lovely @BeyondMyWits. Happy birthday to DD tomorrow. The reason I asked which Center Parcs you were at was because there is one near to where I used to live but it's not the Longleat one. Enjoy your break.

TalkToTheHand123 · 14/07/2022 14:11

Food luck @PinkStarAtNight as hope you do well, just know so many it doesn't work out for long term.

Just made another batch of soup (2 weeks in now) and feel I can keep this going and starting to feel the benefits.
Anyone else have a lot of soup regularly for dieting? The original idea was mainly something easy to prepare to keep me going for long 12 hour shifts!

Scales not moving down much but look a bit less bloated in the mirror. Few cheekily little treats (burgers at the moment) not derailing me too much.

BeyondMyWits · 15/07/2022 07:47

Morning all, just packing up to go home (via longleat safari park so we don't get held up in the air tattoo Fairford traffic.).

Had a great holiday, knackered, so I must have exercised more than normal. Will do a sneaky weigh in when I get home to see if the "cheescake" factor has outweighed that.

Have a great Friday everyone!

ClinkeyMonkey · 15/07/2022 08:43

I'm just sticking my head in. My eating has been truly awful. I've been feeding my stress as usual. I'm scared to weigh myself. Thank goodness for big, floaty dresses is all I can say!

@BeyondMyWits glad you had a good holiday.

@TalkToTheHand123 I have had some success in the past with weight loss by eating soup. But I can't face it in the summer, even though the heatwave has largely passed us by in NI😭 Soup is great though. Easy to make, filling and healthy. I make spicy lentil and carrot, minestrone, cream of tomato (no actual cream in it though) and potato and leek.

endlesswashing · 15/07/2022 09:38

Hi everyone

Gave in and had an ice cream last night, the small win I'm taking is that I haven't had one every night.

We are going through more grapes, berries and salad items than usual as that's what we all been craving with the warm weather.

Have a good day all.

poorpaws · 15/07/2022 11:04

@TalkToTheHand123 I diet on soup all winter but not in summer. I make large batches of parsnip soup which I then freeze (apparently parsnip soup is the least favourite soup in the UK). I really like it but I don't think I could have it on a hot day.

The diet was going exceptionally well this week until last night! I just couldn't stop eating. I am so cross with myself and could now see a weight gain this week.

Stay cool in this heat everyone.
