Sadly my freezer was full. Will try harder next week after the gain I know I will have on Monday. I'd like to at least maintain before new year.

Hi all.

Anyone tried / use the fibre sachet drinks? I was using them a while ago and giving them another go. Not having any food an hour before and after is a challenge, but seems to help reduce bloating. Hopefully helps lose a lbs or two too!

Had an earlyish night last night, managed quite a few tummy clenches and feel a bit more awake this morning. A good sleep really seems too help with weight loss.

Zebracat · 03/12/2022 14:50

This is very difficult. I had kept to my eating plan all week, but gained 300 grams. I have got so sedentary and a bit miserable, so I thought I will commit to an hour of activity every day, which is great and I feel better for it, I’ve been raking leaves today. But then I’m more hungry, I just had double the amount food I normally have at lunchtime. And my bloody hip hurts Oh well, just need to eat a smaller dinner.

TalkToTheHand123 · 03/12/2022 15:03

Aww @Zebracat . What foods do you eat? It's very easy to overdo it.

effiesgoldwig · 03/12/2022 15:05

Ah @Zebracat that can be really demoralising but your weight will fluctuate naturally over the course of a day/week/month anyway. I'm sure if you've stuck to it all week it'll show in the long run. 300g is only the weight of a can of Coke - it could be you have retained a bit of fluid or need a trip to the loo. Don't let it get you down x

effiesgoldwig · 03/12/2022 20:45

Well I'm the queen of self sabotage today. Had Chinese takeaway. Didn't make it to the gym. Just eaten a pain au chocolat. Would happily eat more.

poorpaws · 03/12/2022 20:51

@effiesgoldwig if you're Queen, I'm King!

TalkToTheHand123 · 04/12/2022 09:13

Was it a full portion of Chinese takeaway @effiesgoldwig ?

I try to focus on the price of takeaways to stop me. Mind you somehow the taste quality seems to have reduced. Not sure if it's genuine or I've just kept telling myself it's the case and now believe it.

For chocolate, as I can suffer bad skin, I focus on this, as my skin does seem to clear when I avoid chocolate for a while.

With the scales I'm trying to avoid as I'm sure they can play tricks. I'm currently taking it a day at a time and trying to get plenty sleep.

Hoping over the next few weeks I can get a bit of housework done to help me lose too 🤭.

BeyondMyWits · 04/12/2022 09:16

Sounds like everyone is in a bit of a stuff it phase... I woke up with toothache and can't eat in one side of my mouth... that might help... and then went to peel some spuds for lunch and took a chunky flap at the top of my thumb (not even peeling!! taking the guard off the end of the peeler!!)... what a weekend,

soon to be followed by dentist... that'll be fun... First the phone queue, then the emergency appointment... then the "we'll see you in February to do the proper fix"

Feeling fed up...

effiesgoldwig · 04/12/2022 12:37

Not a full portion as we shared it with the kids. But still sweet&sour chicken, egg fried rice, prawn toast, all the sugar and grease. It was delicious.

Agree that the cost is sky rocketing. £40 seems a lot for 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 sides. As for flavour, We have switched takeaways this time as our previously reliable, delicious and generous takeaway was just dreadful the last time we went to them. It was so disappointing as we've been using them for 10+ years but it definitely seemed like they'd compromised on quality for the price.

effiesgoldwig · 04/12/2022 12:38

Ouch @BeyondMyWits that sounds painful! Hope you heal up quickly.

BeyondMyWits · 04/12/2022 14:18

Awww thank you @effiesgoldwig ....

We got fed up of our local Chinese takeaway being more sauce, less meat so do fakeaway now. A box meal for 2 from M and S with an extra ready meal and noodles gives enough for 4. The box alone is a very generous 2 portions, so 2 plus a child. Really tasty, and lower in sugar and salt than a real one.

Zebracat · 04/12/2022 19:42

No takeaway here, but I did just thoroughly enjoy a small bar of Lindt. No one in the world ever got fat from 1 bar of chocolate, or 1 takeaway, it’s what happens next that counts. Over the course of a week, it’s fine. Sometimes I think we talk to ourselves in these ways to justify falling backwards. Enjoy the takeaway, have another one in a week or 2, but watch your portions and don’t waste your calories on the bits you don’t really like.
Yesterday our pasta was undercooked, so I didn't eat it, which meant I could have ice cream instead. That felt like good decision making. And I’m really fancying a Chinese takeaway at some point this week now, so I will have a small breakfast and lunch, and choose the chop suey and unbattered chicken options., or maybe I won’t because I’m going out for lunch 1 day, and 1 treat meal a week is enough. But We are allowed to enjoy ourselves!

triplecheeese · 04/12/2022 20:11

Awww @BeyondMyWits i'm sorry for your rubbish painful day. Also @effiesgoldwig i
wholeheartedly believe that all takeaways go rubbish and break your heart eventually... I say that as a strong advocate of the weekly takeaway.

I'm absolutely in sod it mode. Have had bronchitis for three weeks so feeling thoroughly miserable. Agree that the down times aren't as important as the getting up again @Zebracat ... I am going to be kind for as long as it takes to pick myself up again. I can't complain too much as I am not far off goal weight, but that's really slackened my motivation. Once my lungs are feeling stronger, exercise will get me back on to it, I'm sure. I will get myself a spring goal! Anyone with me?

@TalkToTheHand123 I've used the fibre sachets when recovering from prolapse, they're easy to use but I don't recall having too much of an impact on appetite. Good to keep your gut healthy though! Did someone ask about meal replacement shakes? Some of the very slim women in my office use Huel for lunch. But they are the ones who say "oh I'm just too busy to eat" or "I don't have time to think about what to eat" which is the opposite of me obsessing about lunch since 9:01am

Really glad you are still with us @poorpaws especially when I am sure it is not easy for you right now.

BeyondMyWits · 04/12/2022 20:34

I know what you mean @triplecheeese , I'm blessed with 2 beautiful, slender, elegant daughters. One is 20, 5ft 10 and size 6 and often "forgets" to eat. The other, 21, a 5ft5 size 8 who doesn't eat til about 2pm and never seems hungry.

Though I do (vaguely) remember being young and slim and travelling through France in a camper van living on cigarettes and Merlot....

TalkToTheHand123 · 04/12/2022 22:20

Hi all.

@triplecheeese I'm not too concerned about appetite as I fill up on soup when I feel a binge coming on, although I'm doing quite well talking myself out of buying and eating the foods and quantities that have put on the weight.

The idea for having the sachets are more to help ease bloat although they do seem to keep me fuller.

I've managed to avoid a few usual slip ups being at my parents over the weekend which I've been preparing for a few times so should benefit from this eventually if I can keep to this!

poorpaws · 05/12/2022 08:20

Good morning everyone,

Miserable Minnie here reporting in. I just cannot stand this cold, I am permanently frozen. I am so miserable and nasty tempered at the moment. I hate this time of year and I keep dreaming of late spring and summer when I can wear a thin skirt and not flaming thermals. I bought myself three oodies. I look absolutely ridiculous in them but I don't care. As soon as partner leaves at 4 o'clock I am in one of them.

My daughter is also thin. She arrived the other evening and had had a McDonald's meal. Her son ate all the fries and a quarter of the burger and she brought me the hot chocolate so a McDonald's to her was just 3/4 of a burger! I also found her some of her favourite sweets this week, which we can't get most of the time and I bought a packet for me. During the whole evening she ate two and I ate the whole packet. She also forgets to eat, and I don't think I've ever forgotten to eat in my whole long life! She is 7 st 9 lb and I am over 11 stones and the above are two examples of reasons why. I can totally see it, but doing nothing about it. I sometimes wonder if she was swapped at birth because she can't possibly be mine.

I've lost 3/4 of a pound this week, and I don't know how because I've not stopped eating. Two meals out (not fancy ones just a cheap carvery type) and far too many sweets and chocolate. I'm still much higher on the scales than I was earlier on in the year but I'm still trying. My medication still hasn't arrived and it's been over 3 weeks, the receptionist told me I had to be patient.

Good luck with the weigh-ins everyone.

Zebracat · 05/12/2022 10:41

@poorpaws why wait till he leaves? Don’t be cold, get that oodie on! I think I can speak for everyone when I say we are all in awe of your stoicism and fortitude. And you must be eating less cos the scales don’t lie.
97.6 this morning which is .8 of a kilo, so I am happy. I have a couple of meals out this week, but I will try to make good choices and stop when I’m full.
I had a bit of a lightbulb moment today. Probably blindingly obvious to anyone else. But I had a deprived childhood, and perhaps in consequence, I have been needy and , yes I will name it greedy ever since, anxious to get my share, wanting the sugar reward, taking too many of the chocolates, eating the last cream cake, saying yes to seconds, scraping the bowl clean, feeling the win if I got an extra meal in, minimising and denying my behaviour.
But over the last few weeks, I have changed my behaviour, said no to the biscuits, and not a martyred no or a regretful no, just firm and clear. Because I’m not going to keep telling that hungry child she needs to hang on to every scrap of warmth and sustenance. I’m telling her that she’s fine and she will get more food when she needs it. I am choosing to eat well and honour my health now, the only thing I am depriving myself of are old and destructive habits.
so long May it last.🙄

BeyondMyWits · 05/12/2022 11:37

Hello all.... seems we are all trying to eat well this month. Lovely to see you @poorpaws , I would stop being patient and start pushing now, or it'll be Christmas before you know it!

Got the dentist later... pushed for it (well repeated 3 times that I needed to see one today... that's about as pushy as I get)

I managed to lose 1.5lb again!!! (Can't eat tooth hurts!) So now 15st 3.5lb... that "14 stone something" is not looking so far fetched now.

Theredjellybean · 06/12/2022 08:13

@poorpaws ..can I join in and be moaning myrtle...I'm up to 72 kgs
My dsd is relapsing her anorexia..I've been awake since 3am...now sat trying not to cry and waiting for her consultant to call.
We've been to hell and back and I am going to have to do it all over again.
Her mother is useless hence why she lives ft with us .and it was me who managed the last relapse.
I love her as much as my own girls and I'm broken hearted I couldn't stop this .
And frightened about what lies ahead.
It makes for dieting oneself difficult but I'm going to try to not resort to over comfort with alcohol...my liver still recovering from last time :) 🤢😀
So I will be here but probably just to say agghhhhhhhh....

Zebracat · 06/12/2022 17:53

@Theredjellybean , that is really tough. Puts our struggles into context.

BeyondMyWits · 06/12/2022 19:43

@Theredjellybean , so hard when its "the kids" ... however old and however related. Just breaks your heart one bit at a time. I wish you all the luck in the world helping her through it xx

poorpaws · 06/12/2022 21:35

Aww @Theredjellybean I am so sorry to hear your struggles, it's such a lot to deal with. Come back regularly and tell us how you're doing, have a moan if you need to but please keep in touch. We are all here for you at this difficult time. I hope dsd gets all the help she needs. Thinking of you and sending a hug.

TalkToTheHand123 · 07/12/2022 09:37

Aww @Theredjellybean so sorry to hear about your dsd. Did the consultant call?

Came home and pigged out a bit on egg fried rice and noodles but didn't feel satisfied. I forgot to have soup first which would have helped.

Plan from now on is to remember to fill up on soup then have 1 treat meal, selected in advance, if doing a long shift.

TalkToTheHand123 · 08/12/2022 22:01

Going to try cut out rice and noodles now as feeling I've put on a bit of weight and these foods the likely culprits or it may be the fibre drinks which seem to have bunged me up. I'll still try cut them out though.
