Aww @poorpaws I love mushroom soup. Managed to avoid the fry up offer today and didn't put on any weight from last night drinking, so plodding along ok touch wood.

Carvery and ice cream beckons later though😯🤭

Zebracat · 18/11/2022 23:19

I messed up my porridge this morning, managed to create a huge bowl of glue. 2 mince pies for lunch. Cauliflower and paneer curry for dinner. Felt like a good day. I went over my calorie allowance but I left most of the porridge, and took a modest portion for dinner so it was probably ok.

effiesgoldwig · 18/11/2022 23:57

Oooh cauliflower and paneer curry sounds nice and I have a cauliflower that needs eating. Any chance you can share the recipe?

TalkToTheHand123 · 19/11/2022 14:24

I could live off cauliflower cheese 🤭

Had a toffee crunch sundae yesterday, which was delicious but hopefully I won't be repeating as I didn't realise the amount of calories in it 😯. Although I did just before I ordered it.🤭. Felt a bit sick after.

I'm reviewing my slip ups each week and trying to improve for the next week, where I can. I usually pig out at my parents so will try avoid this in future as losses seem to be slowly coming to a halt.

BeyondMyWits · 19/11/2022 16:08

Having fakeaway pizza tonight. ASDA counter create your own.

Large, covered with veg for around a fiver, will have it between us, instead of Domino's with chicken sides and garlic bread...
So both waistline and pocket friendly.
Must remember to keep checking in, it really helped in the past, made me think about choices.

Sounds like most are muddling along nicely.
How's it going @poorpaws ?

poorpaws · 19/11/2022 17:49

@BeyondMyWits I'm ok, although my diet isn't. I keep trying but not getting very far. I'm off to a disco tonight at the holiday park. I'm far too old for discos so I'll sit back and watch everyone else as I sip my Diet Coke (instead of wine). I hope no one mentions chips or pizza because both are divine there. Going with daughter who is trying to save so I'm hoping we don't get sidetracked into buying some, although I suspect we will 😄

I don't know whether to just give up now until New Year but I know how much I can gain in a few weeks. I still haven't heard from the hospital about my pending tests nor have I got my two extra tablets yet.

Happy weekend everyone.

@effiesgoldwig I don’t use a recipe, I make a veggie curry often, and just work with what I have. I use a lot of spices. I do think it’s worth marinating the paneer in spices and then frying it briefly at the beginning, makes a massive difference to the texture. This one had cauliflower, new potatoes, green beans onion chili, paneer, tin of chopped tomatoes, water and Greek yoghurt.

effiesgoldwig · 19/11/2022 23:14

That sounds lush @Zebracat. I tried to make something similar last week and it just didn't work. It was a bit of a disaster to be honest, not helped by the fact I had run out of onions. should I be cooking the cauliflower before I put it in? I used cumin, coriander, fennel seeds, cinnamon, cardamom but I don't think I put nearly enough in as it mainly tasted of tinned tomatoes. And the cauliflower was hard.

I had Chinese takeaway for tea tonight at the request of DD but I weighed out my portion. Still ended up going over my cals because I couldn't resist the prawn toast but on a normal day I would have eaten a LOT more. So I'm going to forgive myself for that.

Theredjellybean · 20/11/2022 08:11

Don't give up poorpaws...don't....even if you don't lose weight, you won't gain if you keep trying and that in itself is a win .
I've continued to have very up and down week but have tried to limit portion sizes and I have finished week at 71.7 kg.
Last week's epic disaster was 72.7
So I'm going to keep on trying..
I also do lots of veggie Curry...low calorie, very filling ...

TalkToTheHand123 · 20/11/2022 09:39

Used to love pizza and other takeaway foods but now don't seem to for some reason. 🤔

I'm planning on sticking to my so exciting soup diet 😂 but no more casserole blending as that really doesn't taste nice 😊 as scales seem to show a lbs loss over the last week or two. Current weight is 14.6 stone so could be near 14.0 stone target by Xmas.

Zebracat · 20/11/2022 13:47

Another one saying please don’t give up @poorpaws . I think, if you do, you will look back on this as a wrong turn. I’m not gonna lecture you, but you know you need to eat for heart health. Also, selfishly, You have been so encouraging to me and everyone else, I would really miss you.

TalkToTheHand123 · 20/11/2022 15:48

@poorpaws Do you live near the holiday park or are you at the holiday park?

I think I've improved my meal out options over the last few months, although haven't really been out that much and always been a roast dinner. I'm hoping I can keep to avoiding burgers and chip meals which is what I used to buy. I'm starting to learn to avoid desserts.

The odd blow out shouldn't do too much damage.

Failing that, I 'just' try to be good all other times like avoiding sweets, biscuits, cake etc.

Also if you can't exercise much, I'd be trying to get into relaxation / extra sleep which seems to help.

All the best whatever you do 😊

triplecheeese · 20/11/2022 21:02

Don't give up @poorpaws! Even if you just keep checking in here, we would miss you too much!

Feeling a bit selfish as I haven't been posting in a few weeks because I've been mad busy but have been checking in to catch up on your stories. You are a lovely lot, sending you all strength and good wishes.

i wanted to share my NSV... you know I've been battling to fit in any exercise round the kids and with stress & anxiety building it was getting tough... well I exercised 3x this week! Circuits on Sunday, yoga class on Tuesday, online workout on Thursday. I have however promptly caught the baby's cough and developed a chest infection but you can't win 'em all...

Theredjellybean · 20/11/2022 21:40

@triplecheeese ..sounds great.well done..hope it's helped banish stress and anxiety

Zebracat · 21/11/2022 11:38

@triplecheeese . Well done on the exercise, and commiserations on the cough, small children are adorable but so germy!
I weighed myself this morning and it was 99.5, I was hoping for more than .1k loss as I feel I have been fairly consistent, but I looked back over MFP and saw that I have been over by 200-300 calories most days. Also a second week under that 100 kilo barrier is a good thing, particularly as I am suffering what someone on here called “digestive issues” . I have porridge for breakfast on weekdays, but toast and marmalade at weekends. But it is twice the calories, and as we also have larger meals at the weekend, unnecessary. Love toast tho, I miss it more than chocolate. Perhaps just once a week.

BeyondMyWits · 21/11/2022 15:36

Hiya all... wish I could do more exercise but my knees are really bad right now! One of the many reasons for trying to get weight down.

Minor victory... lost 1.5lb this week, I'm sure it is the checking in here that keeps me motivated... so well done everyone, you can share in the win!! 15st 6.5lb... onwards and downwards.

Zebracat · 21/11/2022 23:10

Woohoo @BeyondMyWits , that’s fantastic, well done. Maybe I’ll mix it up and weigh in stones tomorrow, my scales are so capricious it may just make a difference.

effiesgoldwig · 22/11/2022 09:31

Another 2 lbs off here today so steadily in the right direction.

Don't give up @poorpaws like the others said.

This is such a difficult time of year and easy to just go mad and eat everything in sight. I've got a night out with a buffet coming up on Saturday which is a trigger for me as I would usually just keep going back and pick all night. It's going to be a challenge to stay on track.

BeyondMyWits · 22/11/2022 15:27

Well done @effiesgoldwig , really nice to have a good loss! Buffets are also my downfall! Let's hope it's a colourful one... not so bad picking at salad and fruit!

triplecheeese · 22/11/2022 15:42

Well done @BeyondMyWits @Zebracat and @effiesgoldwig! Zebra the maintenance under 100kg is a big win. This thread has really shown me the importance of perspective... it's about losing the kg and keeping it off, not bouncing up and down the scales as I have for years.

Thanks for the support @Theredjellybean anxiety is the bane of my life and I've really been having a hard time with it since DC2 was born. Exercise definitely helps me.

@TalkToTheHand123 you are so right about improving meal choices. These events do exist and they're supposed to be fun not a source of more stress... so it's helpful to be armed with a strategy.

how are you getting on @poorpaws ?

Zebracat · 22/11/2022 20:59

My beautiful dog died today. I can’t stop crying.Ihad some chocolate because I honestly belief it helps with sadness. Stayed within calories though.

poorpaws · 23/11/2022 08:12

Oh my goodness @Zebracat I am so very sorry to hear your sad news. I'm so sorry you are constantly crying but I would be exactly the same. The only comfort is that your dog is not in discomfort/pain any more. I am the biggest dog lover ever, mine are my life. We know when we get them they don't live for long enough and it is totally heartbreaking when they have to leave us. Try to take comfort from the fact that your dog will know he/she was loved and that you gave him/her the very best home. I am so dreadfully sorry for you 💐 and sending you the biggest hug. Cry because your dog has gone but smile because you knew him/her and laugh at the wonderful memories.

I'll be back later as I have a busy time just now but I wanted to send a quick message to zebracat.

Thanks so much @poorpaws . I feel better today. He was almost 13. He’d been badly treated as a puppy and remained very nervous all through his life, but he loved his life with us, enjoyed the other animals and coped with lots of visitors. He was a really good dog, loyal to his core. And so beautiful. But he was also a complete mud bucket, and he hated being groomed, so I won’t miss battling with the mud and forestry he brought in to the house, or the weekly dice with death that was trying to detangle him and keep him clean. He was worth it though. Really outing, but I’m putting up a picture.

@Zebracat
Ohhh he's beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing his picture, he's so lovely. Don't ever forget what a lovely home he had and he loved you just as much as you loved him. RIP little sweetheart.

So sorry for your loss @Zebracat , our dog is 11 now with all the issues that age brings, we are dreading the same scenario. So glad you gave him a loving joke after his harsh start in life. xx have a very unmumsnetty hug xx
