Loving HOME...

TalkToTheHand123 · 23/11/2022 16:24

Aww @Zebracat so sorry to hear about your dog. Totally understandable to hit the chocolate.

I bought some chocolate at my last shopping trip, first time in months, no real reason.

A little fed up of weighing myself and no change so having a break for a while.

Trying to plan evening food a bit more to help stop binging. Bowl of meatballs scheduled for tonight.

Zebracat · 23/11/2022 16:47

Mom meatballs…

triplecheeese · 23/11/2022 18:42

Oh @Zebracat im so sorry to hear this. He was beautiful and what an amazing character he sounds! You made him safe and loved and he had a happy life with you and your family. You must be broken hearted. Sending you love xxxxx

Zebracat · 23/11/2022 23:51

You have all been very kind and tolerant of my total derail. . Thank you., it’s starting to be ok.

poorpaws · 24/11/2022 07:51

@Zebracat it doesn't matter how many times as you put it you "derail" we are here for you. Everyone on here is so supportive and kind and that includes you. I hope you start o feel better and remember the good times. This has been massive for you, a member of your family has sadly died, I really get how you feel. If you need to eat chocolate, or whatever, for a little time then do it without guilt. There will be plenty of time to catch up in the future.

Thing is though you can regret it. I've somehow managed to make my chocolate bar last over 2 days now instead of a full 5 mins!

Managed to decline the offer of an omelette yesterday which is super good as I seem to have a bit of intolerance to eggs.

Learning to be ok with hunger too which is a bit mad.

Just weighed and still no loss, but going to go off how I feel as I do feel lighter. I'm just going to have to be patient and keep the faith. Maybe by next Xmas I will be happy with my weight!

effiesgoldwig · 24/11/2022 16:57

That's sad news @Zebracat I'm sorry for your loss.

I think it is ok to break a diet during landmark moments in your life. I little bit of comfort during a sad time is ok. It's making sure you allow yourself that without guilt or judgement, forgiving yourself if you go off the rails and then getting back on track.

poorpaws · 24/11/2022 18:44

Oh goodness I've just lost a long post.

Hi everyone

I'm sorry I haven't been here for a while but a lot is happening here. Long story but tablets I needed from my pharmacy got lost and I've been chasing them daily and it's taken a lot of my time. Turns out they've been sent to a pharmacy a few miles away but I've got them now. Also, I've been sleeping a lot in the evenings, I can't seem to keep my eyes open.

In other news, the letter from the hospital has still not been received by my GP so I haven't got a date for the tests yet and I can't get the extra two tablets I need.

In diet news, I am still trying but not quite as hard as I was, but I am still here.

I'm also trying to sort out Christmas which I'm finding a real problem this year. I don't buy for many people but I buy each person quite a lot so when I'm not asleep I've been spending my evenings online trying to find Christmas presents. I'm finding it quite a drag at the moment. I love to buy presents for people but they have to be right and this year I'm really struggling.

I have been reading your posts, even though I haven't been posting myself and well done to everyone who is doing very well and for those not doing quite so well, we'll catch up soon.

Take care everyone. I'm sorry this is rushed and my first attempt was much better, but I've got a long distance friend waiting to FaceTime me so I'm just getting this done very quickly.

Good luck everyone and just keep trying 😁

Aww @poorpaws hope you get sorted soon.

I'm on my last portion of spag bol tomorrow as going cold turkey for a while as stuck at around 15 stone.

I keep checking myself on CCTV and don't seem as big around the waist as I used to. Not sure if it's the cameras or what is going on 🤔.

Going to try cut down on the yoghurt too.

BeyondMyWits · 27/11/2022 15:19

@poorpaws , hope you get somewhere soon with the medication, sleeping in the evening is a sign the balance is not right.

It took a few months for me to be kept alive whilst feeling alive if you know what I mean. It is a very fine balancing act. I am at 5 years now and sometimes a little tired after a full day at work, but generally muddling along fine.

My weightloss is going reasonably well this week and I'm positive there will be a loss on the scale tomorrow. It just feels like it, my knees are less pained.

Zebracat · 27/11/2022 16:48

I had a ridiculously bad eating day yesterday. Really fancied pancakes for breakfast, but overestimated quantities to the power of 10. The pancakes were leathery , but I still ate them. Then we used the leftover bucket of batter to make fritters at lunch. So many fritters, we both felt sick. And then I decided to eat a pizza. I don’t even like pizza. Don’t know how long to leave it before I weigh myself. And it was going so well. Self sabotage at it’s finest .

BeyondMyWits · 27/11/2022 17:16

Oh @zebracat, you did make me laugh... I think we've all been there. Tomorrow is another day, as they say...

TalkToTheHand123 · 28/11/2022 08:06

Did 118 reps putting dd6 to bed last night, so a little nice work out!

Just going to try be mindful of what I'm eating and try find ways to make little tweaks.

Popping to the food shop this morning so need to be in a weighloss mindframe!

poorpaws · 28/11/2022 08:10

@Zebracat did you make it to the scales this morning?

I lost a massive half a pound! I'm still not berating myself though. I didn't feel well at all yesterday on the dog walk and DP says we are going too far without my new medication so we're doing shorter walks this week (still about an hour to an hour and a half but walking slowly).

I've got no energy at all. I'm doing so little but still exhausted by early evening, sleeping in the chair (which is unheard of for me) and in bed by 9pm. I just can't feel like this and only eat a little. It might feel like an excuse but I'm so hungry atm and I think my body needs fuel. I'll be so happy when this is sorted. DP is terrified I'll have a second heart attack and I know it's lovely that he cares but honestly he's driving me crazy.

I hope everyone has a good weigh-in and I'll be back later to read your results. Good luck.

@TalkToTheHand123 good job on the workout 👍

@poorpaws half a pound is good. Think If that was toffee!
I am sorry you are still waiting for the medication to get sorted. It’s horrible. I wish you were seeing specialists and getting it all sorted out. Not gaining would be marvellous in the circs. That does seem like a lot of walking, especially in Devon with those steep sided valleys.
I have lost .9 of a kilo in a week, 2.6 kilos for the month. I am very pleased, given the battering my diet took on Saturday! I’m going for blood tests on 2nd, and want to have lost 10% of my body weight on their scale, it’s about another half a kilo, so possible but not probable! Currently 98.4; 10 kilos down.

BeyondMyWits · 28/11/2022 10:52

Well done @Zebracat looks like it is going well!

I also have success this week. Another 1.5 pounds, so now down to 15st5lb. Lowest I've been in years! (Probably decades!#&)... every pound helps my knees (and my heart).

You sound like you are walking a lot @poorpaws . Do you have a pulse monitor? Fitbit or other exercise monitor? You need to make sure your pulse rate does not go up too high or too quickly. (My target for exercise was set at 81 to 110, no higher) Beta blockers mess up both the resting heart rate and exercising heart rate, so you need individual advice on heart rate etc... I got mine from the cardiac rehab team. You also need to "warm down" after walking, not just sit straight away. Too much exercise too soon can set back recovery, so would listen to your hubby. (Don't tell him that though... mine was insufferable!)

TalkToTheHand123 · 29/11/2022 00:02

Agree, don't push yourself too much too soon @poorpaws !

Quick gym session this morning, got the treadmill out tonight. Finding a bit of walking gets the metabolism going and did some weights so ready to drop off now!😴

Zebracat · 29/11/2022 12:07

Wow @BeyondMyWits 1.5 pounds in a week is so good, you are just a little bit lighter than me now and I also would love the weight to start with a 14 by Christmas.
@TalkToTheHand123 very impressed with the exercising. I must try to increase my activity level.
Im normally quite upbeat but this hip thing is really getting to me now. I don’t go anywhere or do anything. I dont even phone people because I have nothing to say, and I don’t want anyone to worry about me. I think I must set some targets. I’m going to do it here so I can’t wriggle out of them.
so I commit to 1 hour of activity every day in the house, garden or pool.
1 face to face with a friend every week, and 1 text or phone call daily.

TalkToTheHand123 · 29/11/2022 12:23

It seems I'm down a lbs from 14 and a half stone. Took a few weeks, but so be it, just need to avoid a gain! Although this is my morning weight. I'm thinking I should have just done nightly weighing, nevermind though!

Came 5th on the 10min Wii running last night too 😂.

Treadmill should be out tonight too as I started going on it after reading a lot of people doing a lot of walking! It does wonders for easing bloat I've found recently.

I may up the soup to keep me off other food.

effiesgoldwig · 29/11/2022 14:56

Hello, sorry I've not caught up much this week. Had a rough weekend feeling ill so reached for unhealthy choices a bit too often but managed to lose still so I am officially 1/2 a stone down. That 1stone before Christmas goal is looking achievable now if I can just stick with it.

I think I'm struggling a little with the size of the task ahead of me. I want to lose over 6 stone in total and I just feel like it's going to take forever. I know that if I take it slow it's more likely to stay off but I just wish I could teleport into the future and just be slim now.

I'm sure I'm wrong but in my head once you're slim it's easier to stay slim because you're fitter and have more energy and your stomach must have shrunk so you don't get as hungry. Basically in my head my life would be perfect if I was thin. Which objectively I know isn't true but it just sometimes feels like it is.

Zebracat · 29/11/2022 16:05

@effiesgoldwig well done, that is an achievement, and it seems quite quick?. I’m going to say it again, you will feel the benefits of your weight loss long before you get to target. I’ve lost 1.6 stone, or thereabouts, and already I can take my pick of my clothes (except for the dress I bought last year which has never done up andwon’t until I lose at least another stone! ). My cheekbones have emerged after a year submerged in fat. I feel less sluggish. I am hopeful that I will have reversed the prediabetes. Our food bills have reduced.
Break it down into smaller targets, and remember that you are building healthy habits for the rest of your life, and that you have already made the change.

BeyondMyWits · 29/11/2022 17:46

Totally agree with the smaller targets! I spent a couple of years thinking I've got 4 stone (+) to lose... losing a few pounds... putting them on again... losing again... etc because of the enormity of thinking 4 stone....

But since we started doing the mini weekly targets on here I have lost OVER a stone so far with only an occasional blip.

I was 16 stone 6lb. My first mini(major) target was to be 15 stone something. My next target was to never be 16 stone something again. Now 15stone 5lb and there's a twinkling of being able to say 14 stone something...

what a rush that will be!

So the 4 stone + is still in the back of my mind, but 1lb by Monday is much more easily achieved. Thanks to everyone on this thread!

Theredjellybean · 29/11/2022 18:35
