Haha @Zebracat I don't mind... I am an apple shape too... if you see me from the front I look much "thinner" than from the side.

I am a solid size 20... Marks and Spencer 20 that is, so fairly generously sized.

TalkToTheHand123 · 12/11/2022 09:27

I seem to have lost an lbs, first bit of weight loss in a few weeks! Weight ranging from 14 and a half stone (morning weight) to just under 15 stone now (night time weight). It used to go quite high above 15 stone so quite happy it isn't going above 15.0 (touch wood).

I declined the invitation of some Chinese takeaway food yesterday which took some doing, although I had a full packet of noodles last night.😯

I've started to delay having any food until as late as possible on a morning to have a fasting hit, which seems to be quite beneficial.

Zebracat · 14/11/2022 13:44

Happy Monday everyone. 99.6 this morning. I am absolutely determined that I will not go above 100 again. I lost a kilo in October, which is low, but not nothing.Aim for November is 2 kilos. I think my goal was to have lost 9 kilos by Christmas, must have been on glue. Hope everyone is doing ok.

Theredjellybean · 14/11/2022 13:59

Having had a mildly disasterous two weeks I'm now fully committed and also realised it's six weeks to Christmas not five as I thought so I'm determined..three kilos off by Christmas

Zebracat · 14/11/2022 14:12

@Theredjellybean 3 kilos in 5 weeks is ambitious but not impossible. I just read back, and I committed in September to 12 kilos by Christmas. It’s not gonna happen. I’ll try for 2 in November and 2 more in December.

BeyondMyWits · 14/11/2022 16:12

Hiya all.... well my Christmas target is not going well at all... another pound ON... sigh... 15st8... need to start checking in more... and eating less!

TalkToTheHand123 · 14/11/2022 19:30

Was looking forward to a cheese toastie as been quite good (apart from delving into the paren't biscuit and sweet cupboards last night), but left on too long and burnt it 😭

Hopefully get lower than 14 and a half stone in the next few weeks.

poorpaws · 14/11/2022 20:07

Hi everyone

Well done to losers and commiserations and "better luck next week" to gainers and sts-ers 😊

I've started again today, one of my many re-starts but I'm going to eat healthily from now until Christmas.

I weighed in this morning having missed a few and wish I hadn't but I'm trying again now. It's been a very strange couple of months for me so I'm not going to be hard on myself, I'll just keep plodding on.

I'll try to post more too, perhaps we all should in the lead up to Christmas ?

Sounds a good plan @poorpaws . I really enjoy people's updates and hearing newbies joining.

I usually weigh myself first thing on a morning, but have started to weigh myself on a night time. I must like to torture myself, although find it a useful reminder to get back / keep on track.

I still don't calorie count although wish I had the patience, but started to take a bit of a mental note of what I've been eating which I could try cut out or down on. Last week I had a full pack of sausages, but none this week (so far😊). Going to try keep off the cheese too.

poorpaws · 15/11/2022 07:51

@TalkToTheHand123 I can easily leave out sausages and I don't eat that much cheese, but my downfall is chocolate and ice cream. I crave ice cream even in the depths of winter when I'm cold anyway, which doesn't make a lot of sense, but the cravings continue. Chocolate, well, there isn't enough chocolate in the country for me to consume and this is where my weight problem started. Also cake, I could eat cake all day long.

I had a really good day yesterday did a lot of walking and ate very sensibly, my evening chicken stir fry was delicious. If only I could keep this up, but I'm really going to try now until the big day (which in our house isn't very big).

Have a good day everyone and just do your best. Keep posting, keep me motivated I will need it 😩

2lbs off this week so I'm quite pleased with myself. It's definitely different to slimming world where you have a massive loss in the first week or two but I guess slow and steady is the way to go.

Struggling a bit today as I've got a stinking cold and it immediately makes me want to reach for a mug of hot chocolate and the comfort food. But I've got the meeting at the gym tomorrow to focus on and hopefully that will encourage me and give me some positive ideas. Just a mountain to climb. I would love to get a stone off before Christmas which would be doable but not easy.

Zebracat · 15/11/2022 21:55

I’m so hungry today. Tried to send my son out for chocolate but he refused. He was right, I’ve done ok this week. Don’t want to spoil it, I might have some yoghurt.

poorpaws · 15/11/2022 22:30

@effiesgoldwig well done, that's a great start, slow and steady wins the tortoise race, you will get there. I'm so pleased you came back to us, so many people join us and leave after one post and we are such a supportive group.

@Zebracat I've been hungry too. I had to have two bowls of cereals to stop me eating chocolate. These stirfries in the evening are quite delicious, but within an hour I'm starving 😩 i'll have to have something different for dinner tomorrow night, something a bit more filling.

I hope everyone is doing well this week, keep it up!

effiesgoldwig · 15/11/2022 22:53

Thanks for welcoming me in @poorpaws! I'm on this weight loss course every week for the next 8 weeks and then it runs monthly til I've done 12 months and the gym referral is 6 months so I hoping to be in it for the long haul. Although I go back to work in jan (on mat leave at the moment) so I'm kinda dreading how I will fit weight loss into the already overwhelming headspace of work&family.

There's potential for a bariatric surgery pathway at the end of 12 months but I'm not sure if it's a step to far for me. It's not a small decision. I'm hoping by then I'll have lost 4 stone and be just "overweight" instead of obese by then. I've already managed to drop the "morbidly" from the beginning of my label so that's something to be pleased with.

@Zebracat good that your son is supporting you! Or is he just as lazy as mine? 😝 I'm eating cheerios when I get snacky cravings because they're relatively lo calorie and if I weigh out a portion you get a load of little sweet hoops that you can eat like a packet of crisps that take ages to eat and have that satisfying crunch.

Zebracat · 15/11/2022 23:20

Hmm don’t think cheerios would work for me. We have an open packet in the kitchen and if I started I would just go on and on like a mechanical digger, every time I was in there. I had a digestive biscuit instead, never used to have less than 3, so that’s progress.
Well done on your 2 pounds @effiesgoldwig , I lost about that in the last month! Is that an NHS course? I’ve been referred for a second time to Healthier You.
and well done to you@poorpaws for getting back on it despite everything.

Our little cat had to be pts last week, and now our biggest dog is clearly very unwell. Not eaten and barely moved all day, altho he has just had a drink. He is 12, so it shouldnt be a surprise, but it’s just horrible. We will get him into the vets tomorrow, not sure how, he’s a beast. He’s lying on the tiled floor in the hall, no bed or blanket, but he won’t move. Dh is going to sleep downstairs with him and really wants me to go to bed in the hope that he can get him more comfortable once the house shuts down , but I don’t want to leave him either.

effiesgoldwig · 15/11/2022 23:54

Yes it's "more life". So far the focus has been small but achievable lifestyle changes. This week's focus was being mindful while eating and being more aware of what I'm putting in my mouth. Because I do have a tendency to just shovel it in without thinking. Or as fast as I can while the kids aren't looking so I don't have to share.

Sorry to hear about your poorly animals. Life is always throwing up tough times like this and they don't make it easier to stay on track. It must be very upsetting for you both x

effiesgoldwig · 15/11/2022 23:57

Can you bring some of his comforting things to him if he won't move? A soft blanket or loved toy to rest his head on? I'm sad for you and he's not even my dog!

TalkToTheHand123 · 16/11/2022 00:06

Aaah chocolate. Have managed to avoid this for a while now. Just don't keep any in the house and I avoid the chocolate isles.
I knocked ice cream on the head at home a few weeks ago. It was irritating my tummy also. Took a bit of will power. Replaced it with yoghurt.
I've been filling myself up on even more soup 😯🤭
Touch wood going well.

Zebracat · 16/11/2022 11:09

Terrible night didn’t sleep, then I had awful diarrhoea. On the plus side, I lost a kilo overnight. Dog has been to the vets, and they think it’s just arthritic pain, so he’s started on injections at £120.00 a month.so that’s me out of the Chocolate Isles for ever! And they sounded so nice.

poorpaws · 16/11/2022 12:48

@Zebracat my older dog (12 in March) has arthritis and she is on Synoquin tablets from the vets. They put her on a high dose for the first month to get it into her system quickly and now she has one tablet daily. Much cheaper at about £60 a box.

It's a most awful feeling when they are ill, the worry is exhausting. I feel so sad for all of you. My three dogs are my everything, I adore them and the thought of one day losing my oldest terrifies me as we have a very special bond.

I hope your dog does well on the injections and is bouncing around like a puppy soon. I'm so sorry you lost your cat recently too, it's heartbreaking. (I've had cats and adored them too).

@TalkToTheHand123 I'm still on the soup diet 😁 I made two batches yesterday. I get five portions per batch so not quite a weeks worth.

I'm a bit boring and always make parsnip soup (I've said this before on here) but then I cut broccoli into small pieces daily and microwave for 2 mins then drain and add to parsnip soup and microwave again together. It gives added flavour and a bit more substance and gives me another one of my five a day. I love broccoli. Good luck with the soup addiction 😄

I hope everyone is ok and doing well. It's less than six weeks to Christmas Day now, time seems to be galloping by atm.

OP posts:
Zebracat · 16/11/2022 21:15

@poorpaws , thanks for the recommendation, these injections are Librello, might try synoquin for the other oldie. We fetched up with 3 dogs and 2 cats, and 2 of the dogs are huge, unlike our house, so I have thought I might be relieved as they start to pop off, but of course not, it’s horrid.

TalkToTheHand123 · 17/11/2022 10:00

Aww lol @ the parsnip soup @poorpaws . I'll make some next time I go shopping! I've been having a bit of spinach, cabbage and mix veg soup mainly. I have some ready for when I get home to fill up on to try stop binging on other food as much.

Watching others having takeaways and crisps through the day is getting a little easier. There is another lady on a diet so spurring each other on! She's onto her third week and doing really well.

poorpaws · 17/11/2022 15:10

@TalkToTheHand123 the parsnips are a bit bland so I put plenty of onions in, two stock pots and a small amount of sweet chili, little pepper, lots of salt.

I'm making mushroom soup this week. It's a very old microwave recipe (when microwaves first entered our homes) but it's not so slimming as contains a lot of whole milk to make it creamy. I'm really making it for sis-in-law cos she loves mushrooms.

I'm not doing quite so well. DPs cat went for a health check yesterday and some anomalies were found in her urine. DP adores her so I'm worried for her and him. This of course sent me into a good frenzy last night, I never learn!

I hope you are all doing well and doing your best 😁

It was just me and the kids for tea tonight so I'm eating like a 10 year old. Had low fat bacon medallions, spaghetti hoops and poached eggs for my tea tonight. It was delicious and only 370 calories. Felt like eating normal food but worked with the low cal diet. Had salad for lunch which was more grown up and healthy. Looking forward to my bowl of cheerios later 😝
