Aww I've only just started to stop reeling from missing out on a promotion to a total Wally. I've been letting a few things hit the fan out of spite and bitterness 😂.

To be fair my interview was horrendous, but I'm studying for a better career and hope to use the experience to motivate myself.😊

triplecheeese · 07/10/2022 13:28

ah thank you @Chattycathydoll and @endlesswashing. I will keep on keeping on and one day it will work!

@Chattycathydoll I'm so sorry to hear this. To be honest, reading between the lines it sounds like they already had New Person lined up and you could not have won either way. @poorpaws has given brilliant advice and I can only say - you don't want to treat people the way they have treated you so you are the better person here. You say you found the role challenging in a good way, your colleagues believed in you, and if they can't see that's how stretch and development is meant to work, they've got bigger problems. Don't be hard on yourself - you have the more senior role on your CV now, so you know when you make your next move you already have that experience to draw on.

Congratulations @Zebracat on getting out of the 16s 👑!

triplecheeese · 07/10/2022 13:42

Oh @TalkToTheHand123 im sorry to hear that too, sending big hugs. You are so articulate and engaging in here, a bad interview could only be a blip!

@Chattycathydoll these things feel so isolating but you're not alone. It happened to me, a promotion was mysteriously "deprioritised" even though I was already doing the senior job, then I was told there was no "business need" to make me more senior. When I left that business they replaced me with three people.

TalkToTheHand123 · 07/10/2022 21:35

Aww @triplecheeese thanks. Turns out the hours and the locations are not as suitable for me at the moment so a bit of a blessing in disguise.

Some managers can be crafty and shamless though.

Anyhoo. Really quite terrible couple of days eating wise (or unwise). Bought some sausages, chicken nuggets, onion rings and hash browns when popped to the shop today 😔

TalkToTheHand123 · 08/10/2022 07:41

Have managed to exercise a bit more and had a bit more sleep.

I'm also now a bit more in the habit of not eating breakfast to reduce the chances of needing the toilet if I'm out and about anywhere. Hopefully benefitting from a bit of fasting effect when I brave the scales next.

Next few days I'll have to try resist binging with the food I bought recently.

Housework suffering as wanting to get my moneysworth from the gym and then too tired to do housework.

Zebracat · 09/10/2022 11:41

I’m back over 16 again. I don’t know why that’s a surprise, I’ve been eating too much, but somehow it is . Never mind. I’m going to have a good week and see where I fetch up. No outings planned this week, it’s much easier to control food from my own kitchen.

BeyondMyWits · 10/10/2022 08:00

Back to half a pound off again... 15 st 7.5... still it is the right direction! Good luck all.

Theredjellybean · 10/10/2022 11:19

I have put on 2 lbs . really disappointed in myself
I am still hovering around lowest weights i have been for last 3 years so better to be up and down for while around the 71.5 point, when 2 months ago i was hovering up and down round 73.5 point
however i feel blobby and horrible
wish i could stop being so critical of myself...its very self defeating
my dsd is 18 today and we are having chinese takeaway, and cake for dinner...i know i need to get back to careful portion control.
im sorry to hear of everyone elses general life struggles this last week but well done to anyone having a loss ...
right onward and downward
on +ve i am allowed to do 2 runs on my rehab programme today ( only v. short distances) not enough for any help to weight loss but it helps the endorphins
but been stopped doing weights and strength training so its frustrating.

TalkToTheHand123 · 10/10/2022 11:42

Drinking hot water today and soup to get me through to 8pm finishing time and get me back on track / damage limitting.

Plan to go to supermarket on way home to get a couple more 1 litre bottles of yoghurt to use as soup containers so I have four to keep me going for 2 to 3 days so I don't have to make a batch every night. 😊

Hopefully keep at the simulated running before bed as seems to be really helping and doesn't need too much will power to get started and keep going 😊

poorpaws · 10/10/2022 18:05

I've had a really difficult week this week. Cassie (the dog with the damaged leg) cried every time I left her to walk the other two, I mean a really pitiful howl which lasted 20 minutes. Because of this DP walked the other two, meaning I have had very little exercise apart from cleaning the house. I am also stir crazy!

All this has resulted in a gain this week, a significant gain and I am so upset with myself.

Today is the start of a new week and I had a long walk with my other dogs and did a short exercise routine as I want to get back on track. I've got a meal out on Thursday so that will be a difficult one.

Well done to the losers and to the ones who have gained, we'll do better this week 😀

TalkToTheHand123 · 11/10/2022 08:57

Hi all and newbies.

Aww @poorpaws . How long before your dog can go for walks?

I'm finding it a bit of a challenge to monitor for weight loss progress with not weighing myself, but I think I've lost a couple of centimeters around the waist over the last few weeks.

Dieting has been quite good, especially when others are having lots of takeaways around me at breakfast and lunchtime (on top of the bags of crisps, sweets and biscuits that get handed around).

Focus at the moment is less TV and more sleep and exercise.

Love to all x

poorpaws · 11/10/2022 09:11

@TalkToTheHand123 We really don't know when Cassie's leg will be able to support her on a walk. When she damaged it she lifted it really high and gradually, daily, it's getting closer to the ground. Atm she puts the very tip of her toes on the ground so some improvement. I'm hoping by next week the whole paw will be flat to the ground without pain and then she can go out again. It's been nearly two weeks and she's so sorry for herself.

I'm going to really try with my exercises this week. Once I start them I'm fine, it's a very easy dvd, it's just motivating myself to actually start. DP has an opticians appointment this afternoon so I'm hoping I can get them done whilst he's out.

How are you all doing? It's very early on in a new week but I hope you are all doing well. I'm almost dreading my meal out on Thursday, I have to make good choices.

@poorpaws . That is really tough. We have 3 dogs and have faced similar problems, 1 is really old and does better walked every other day.. It’s also difficult now because I can’t walk them. I is quite reactive so Dh can walk all 3 in the countryside, but only 2 at the park, so oldie often gets left behind. He cried at first, but they are such creatures of routine that as soon as he was able to see he wouldn't be going, he was fine. When left behind, he gets a dentastick. Of course you can’t leave if she barks and upsets the neighbours, but your health andwell-being matter too!
we only take 1 on holiday now. At first I felt guilty but it wasn’t a holiday for us If we had 3 dogs to keep off sofas etc, and they dont like long car journeys.

TalkToTheHand123 · 12/10/2022 10:57

Got talked into eating a bacon sandwich yesterday, but otherwise did quite well. It wasn't even that nice so hopefully I can resist next time. My current desk is in the same room as the toastie machine. I usually have to go outside when someone is using it!

Started a bit of an exercise routine before bed, although luckily I was able to have a lie in this morning. Lack of sleep seems to have caught up with me.

Feeling confident I can get to my desired weight / to a comfortable feeling weight in the next couple of months, so I'm excited for Xmas 😂.

Good luck to all x

poorpaws · 12/10/2022 18:59

@TalkToTheHand123 I love your positive attitude and I think you will do very well by Christmas, in fact with your attitude I'd put money on it 😀 (I'm not really a gambler). I'm so impressed by you, I wish it would rub off onto me.

Cassie still can't walk so DP took the other two out again. I went food shopping this morning and spent the afternoon batch cooking spaghetti Bol and chicken breasts, trying not to taste the bolognese sauce too often. The kitchen smells so lovely (and makes me want to eat even more).

Tomorrow I am out with SIL to a restaurant I don't think I've been to before but it's got good reviews. I think I'll look at the fish or chicken and keep away from the creamy sauces which I love.

I hope everyone is having a good week. Atm I'd be happy to see half a pound loss, in fact anything rather than a gain. I'll just keep on trying.

Aww @poorpaws You may change your mind if you knew how many hash browns and onion rings I've at today.😯

Well done on your loss. Good job it's bed time. You've got me craving spag bol.😂

No hash browns left just a few onion rings but a shop is planned for tomorrow 🤔😯.

I've been to the gym (I'll not mention people hogging machines, faffing about on their phones) and done some exercising in the house including a 10 min Wii run which I've been trying to get motivated to do for a few weeks to help damage limitting. Couldn't resist weighing myself on the board and it was over 15 stone. I'm ignoring it though (in denial?🤔🤭) as feeling fitter and clothes a bit looser.

bluetongue · 15/10/2022 10:21

I’ve lost 3 kilos and nearly halfway to my goal weight. It might not sound like much but when you’re barely over 5 feet tall every kilo makes a big difference.

The weird thing I’ve noticed is that since making the decision to lose weight I’ve been much less hungry. Amazing what the mind can do.

I’ve mostly been concentrating on stopping the snacking and sticking to 1200 calories. The actual food I’m eating isn’t all that different. Little things like eating fruit instead of other sweets are probably helping me be healthier anyway.

My blood pressure has already gone down which is pretty amazing for only 3 kilos loss.

TalkToTheHand123 · 15/10/2022 10:31

Very impressed @bluetongue

I'm hoping to handle my hunger better. Maybe tell myself it's a good thing as it means I'm losing weight?🤔

Mine seems to be yo-yoing again, although I've recently drank a gallon of homemade soup and seems to have cancelled out the 2lbs gain and the cheesecake slice(s) a colleague brought in yesterday.

poorpaws · 15/10/2022 13:53

@TalkToTheHand123 I'm yo-yoing too (and drinking copious amounts of soup). I'm ok all day but once I've eaten dinner in the evening, I just want to eat everything I can lay my hands on. Last night was an eating disaster, I'm a nightmare.

@bluetongue well done, it's never "only " a small amount, it all counts and adds to a big loss later on, you should be proud of yourself.

Have a good weekend everyone.

@poorpaws i too have had a bad week and the weight this morning was a bit of a wake up call
i had started the week at 72.4, 2 days of no alcohol and proper portion control and i had gone to 71.9...three days away and one dinner out and a terrible carb craving and today was 73.1
have not been 73 kgs for good few weeks so really disappointed in myself
feel terrible and really hate myself for being so useless at this...
shall we have a joint hand hold and wail and then get our game faces back on
i want ot be 70 kg by christmas ..it is ridiculously small amount to lose over long period so i can do this......so can you

TalkToTheHand123 · 15/10/2022 18:29

In need of a hand hold @Theredjellybean as a bit frustrated as it seemed to be going really well. Didn't even think the slip ups were anything much. Oh well, a quick dust down and try again.

Zebracat · 15/10/2022 20:35

Sorry for those struggling. I seem to be managing ok atm. Losing 100grams a day, and sticking to the calorie limit. I have a hospital appointment on Thursday, and it’s terribly important that I demonstrate my commitment to weight loss. I am worried that I’ll let my hair down once that is over.
Im really suffering with bloating/ indigestion so I feel full and uncomfortable most of the time. It’s the medication. I don’t know if any one has any tips.

TalkToTheHand123 · 16/10/2022 10:19

My latest souperb (I'll book the taxi now) and wacky idea I'm trying at the moment...

Cold, watered down soup. 😳

I funnel soup from batches into big bottles and take one with me when I'm on shift. I pour a little into a big flask and add cold water.😳😊

I've also started drinking a few cups when I get home. It was more just to use up, but seems to help stop some of the binging and has helped to lose a lbs or two.😊

I've only been doing this for a couple of days, but feeling optimistic. 😊

Theredjellybean · 16/10/2022 10:48

i am not sure watered down cold soup sounds very nice tbh...but what works for you @TalkToTheHand123
so i have had a better 24 hrs and feel bit more +ve and less self loathing.
I worked yesterday and knew i was going out for dinner in the evening so had 2 pieces of fruit and a lot of coffee during the day, and at dinner party was very careful about my portion sizes ( helped by host being appalling cook tbh)
i did get stuck into the red wine !!
and this morning scales said 72.6
so back in 72 range, i can tackle this, if it says 72 something i feel ok and in control again...
now back at work , got a banana and an orange and lots of coffee and a cottage pie for dinner , then i plan a hot bath and very early night .
and no alcohol tonight

Theredjellybean · 16/10/2022 10:49
