That’s interesting. We had leftovers for tea the other day. A 1/2 cup of onion soup and a small plate of tuna pasta salad and it was enough, so I see how that could work. I’d want to heat it though. Had a bit of a whoosh today, I weighed 108.4 kilos at the hospital about 6 weeks ago. I am 100.5 now , and going on Thursday. They will see that I’m trying any way.

Theredjellybean · 16/10/2022 10:53

@Zebracat that is absolutely fantastic ...you should be 100 kg on thursday which is 8.4 kgs or 1 stone 3.3 lbs...definitely see you are trying and succeeding.
can i ask are you going about bariatric surgery ?

Zebracat · 16/10/2022 11:03

Thanks. No, not bariatric, not sure I’m overweight enough for that, bmi is under 35.But I need a hip replacement. They told me that I needed to lose as much as I could to help with surgery and recovery, and to improve my blood test results. But it should hopefully help with the pain while I wait , as it’s a load bearing joint.

Well done. It’s going to feel amazing getting to double figures.

Having a deadline works well for me as well. I really want to get to a healthy BMI by January and see if I can improve my blood test results. Cholesterol is too high and blood sugar is creeping into the pre diabetic range. Eeek.

BeyondMyWits · 16/10/2022 15:12

Hiya all, there's some lovely losses on here at the moment though some of us are struggling a bit. Had a bit of a mixed week... Dd21 is on her year abroad with uni and has settled in, but I do miss her and she won't be home til Xmas... Dd20 is home for the weekend so we are eating a bit healthier as she likes veggie filled fajitas and casseroles, so I'm hoping to have a loss tomorrow ... fingers crossed 🤞

HoarderOfNotebooks · 16/10/2022 18:26

Hi, Is there any chance I could join in? I've got 4 stone to lose and I'm struggling, picked up a fancy watch today so tomorrow morning I will use it to measure body fat etc and work on making it lower!

poorpaws · 17/10/2022 07:52

@Theredjellybean handhold, wail and I'm back on it today! I'm not weighing, I cannot face those scales. I've had an horrendously bad week, my clothes are tight again but it stops today!!!!! The damage will be ... well beyond any words I know ☹️. But today is different. I've told DP it doesn't matter what he's doing, I have to do my exercises daily (he wants to sit and chat). I hope you're with me.

@HoarderOfNotebooks Welcome, good to have you here. Some of us are doing brilliantly (obviously not me). Join in and enjoy this thread, there's tons of support.

I hope everyone is having a good weigh in this morning and for those of you like me, not doing so well, today is a new day, a new beginning.

Theredjellybean · 17/10/2022 09:35

@poorpaws ..tight handholding..I've managed two better days, and scales 72.4..this morning.
It really is, for me, down to tight tight portion control.
You can do this, it's ok ,I know how you feel that self loathing and the why did I eat that . feeling.
But it is behind us .we are moving forward, and this WILL be a good week

Theredjellybean · 17/10/2022 09:36

@HoarderOfNotebooks ..welcome...

Zebracat · 17/10/2022 09:54

@poorpaws . Sorry it’s so tough for you. It seems like you really need physical activity, so that’s a good plan.
@HoarderOfNotebooks welcome. 4 stone sounds daunting before you start, but starting is the big jump right at the beginning of the course. Gets a bit easier after that.I also have 4 stone t9 lose, but in September, it was 5.

BeyondMyWits · 17/10/2022 11:46

Hiya all, and nice to see new "faces" 👋 haven't had time to read all the recent posts but @poorpaws , yours resonated with me, feeling those clothes get tighter really drags you down, a real morale drain xx Hope things improve for you and you can get out and about more.

Mine is a feelgood 1.5lb loss, so finally 15st6.... A whole stone lost! (Since May, so it has been a while in the losing) but it did make me smile this morning!

triplecheeese · 17/10/2022 17:25

wow @Zebracat that is a fantastic loss and will hopefully really help with the recovery. A big op, you're brave to be handling it so well and preparing for it and your new life after.

@BeyondMyWits great job, a whole stone!!! You've done amazingly.

@HoarderOfNotebooks welcome - this thread is all about the realistic progress. Lots of people have spoken well on here before about the value of small goals. "4 stone to lose" feels more daunting than a smaller plan every week and then you can look back in a few weeks and see your progress.

@poorpaws we are all with you, you have been here before and faced it and ploughed on, and you'll beat it again. I've got everything crossed for you getting your exercise in today! How's Cassie?

I'm up this week (65.2kg) after seeing a fabulous 64.8kg last week... but I had a weekend of wine & food away with DH so no complaints. I managed to exercise 3x last week so fingers crossed for this week - got a manic few days at work so it will be very easy to not bother!

KBO xx

TalkToTheHand123 · 17/10/2022 21:07

Hi all.

You'll not be surprised for me to say cold soup doesn't taste very nice @Theredjellybean ☺️. I thought I'd try it as I'm trying not to stink the office out and also my face seems to turn more red than usual when drinking hot drinks 😊

Feeling like I've put on a bit recently even though I think I've improved my diet quite a lot recently and exercising quite a lot more. Just hoping the exercising will show results soon as it sometimes helps me out a few days later with a metabolism boost.

TalkToTheHand123 · 19/10/2022 00:21

I'm starting to think the weight loss may take a lot longer to lose. I do feel I'm gradually losing by slowly improving eating habits and exercise though so won't beat myself up too much.

TalkToTheHand123 · 19/10/2022 17:02

I somehow managed to decline the invitation of burger and chips today as colleagues endulged. Does it get easier? I'm hoping so as this is quite a frequent occurrence.😯

poorpaws · 19/10/2022 20:25

@TalkToTheHand123 I'm sad to say it doesn't get easier, well I don't think it does.

I'm just back from eating out. It was a carvery so I tried to make good decisions. No starter, no wine, beef with a lot of vegetables and one roast potato only, no Yorkshire pudding. I did have a very small dessert, chocolate and raspberry cheesecake with vanilla ice cream. Pepsi Max to drink.

Thank you all for so much support last week when I was going through such a rough time. I think it was a combination the changing season (I just love summer) and worrying about Cassie (who is still unable to put her foot to the floor so still can't be walked). You are a brilliant bunch of "friends", I couldn't have chosen such lovely people if I'd tried. Thank you all so much for your kind words and support.

I haven't weighed still but I've given myself a strong talking to and I'm back on track. I've tried hard this week and done my exercises every day, even tonight before I went out I managed to fit them in so I'm hoping the scales might be kind next week.

If you are having a bad week I know exactly how you feel but your mindset will change, don't give up. If you're have a good week, well done and hopefully the scales will reflect your angelic ways.

Hi all! Is it ok to join you all?

Recently restarted slimming world. I successfully lost 3.5 stone in 2013 but since then I have had 5 more children and gained ALOT of weight. I started a few weeks ago weighing 20st 6lbs and I am currently 19st 8lb so almost lost a stone!

I have had a complete lifestyle change as I have finally decided it's now or never. Along with doing slimming world I have joined the gym 2 weeks ago and have gone 7 times since! I am really enjoying it and feeling so much more energised (and sore!) everyday!!

Anyway, today I went to the gym this morning for an hour (cardio and weight machines) and this was my food diary...

B - Banana and 2 hifi cereal bars
L - Turkey, cauliflower rice and carrots
T - Spaghetti bolognese with broccoli and cauliflower
S - Fat free natural yogurt, plum, nectarine and grapes

Syns were spent on a mocha from costa and I used milk in teas for my healthy 'a' choice.

Feeling like today was a good day!

BeyondMyWits · 20/10/2022 07:59

Hiya all...
@xprincessxjanetx ...everyone is welcome here, we are an odd bunch of folks, we all want to lose weight, and have varying degrees of success at varying times. We are simply supportive.

I have finally reached my stone loss through coming on here and just chatting, checking in, cheering and commiserating with everyone, it is a lovely gentle thread that helps with motivation (without being pushy). We have been setting mini targets individually- entirely optional. And a 12 week Christmas target... mine is to be able to say 14stone something... (in May when I joined it was tobe able to say 15 stone something and I got there!).

Good luck to all, we seem to be getting there in our own time and our own way .

TalkToTheHand123 · 20/10/2022 11:57

@poorpaws . I'm finding a few reminders to be quite helpful. Visualising myself slimmer in the mirror, scales showing nice numbers and less bloating. Saving a few pennies too.

Plan for when I'm back in the house after a long shift is to cook a big batch of veg and have with a tin of tuna and hopefully this will help avoid my evening binges.

Night time exercises might change to yoga / stretching instead as getting a bit of a bad / stiff back the next day.

Zebracat · 20/10/2022 17:16

Well I made it to my appointment and I did lose 8 kilos in 7 weeks. So pleased with myself. They didn’t give me a date for the operation which is upsetting both because I Cant plan my life, but also because a definite date is helpful for weight loss.
went out for lunch afterwards, and had fish and chips and treacle tart. 400 calories over for the day, and it was worth it!

poorpaws · 20/10/2022 21:10

That is fantastic @Zebracat 👏 sooo well done, you've been amazing ⭐️
No wonder you are proud of yourself, so you should be (craving fish and chips now).

Zebracat · 20/10/2022 22:01

@poorpaws. Thank you, and I’m glad you are feeling positive again. 1 thing I have noticed is that I was really dissatisfied with my clothes, they didn’t fit and looked bad. But now loads more fit and they look better, and I don’t want to buy more becauseI feel confident I will lose more weight.Might buy a jumper though, I feelth3 cold more and I like them oversized.

TalkToTheHand123 · 21/10/2022 11:09

Aww it feels good with baggy clothes @Zebracat

Had a big binge last night, big portions of spag bol, now craving fish and chips 😂

I'm thinking though if I drink a lot of soup when I get in it might help, so going to start giving it a try.🤔😊

BeyondMyWits · 21/10/2022 17:48

I had fish and chips yesterday, but wished I hadn't as they sat very heavy in my stomach, I seem to not be able to eat a big portion any more. Was quite sleepless last night, spoiled the "treat" a bit.😪

TalkToTheHand123 · 22/10/2022 14:24

Aww @BeyondMyWits . Been there many a time and not doubt will again at some point. Take the hit and start again!

I'm currently fighting the naughty foods like I did with cigarettes.

Where I work, most people smoke which is a bit annoying also (to go with all the eating chocolate and crisps and drinking pop at the desks too).

I've somehow managed to power through with drinking soups and casseroles. (Usually casseroles on an evening or if taking to work, I'll blend the night before). Some of my concoctions tastes ok, although sometimes not so much 😂. Either way, it seems to be doing the business. Seems to be keeping the hunger at bay more which is something I try to keep reminding myself as the naughty food just keeps me craving more and isn't my friend!😊
