Hi everyone
Poorpaws - what is wrong with you dog ? I hope nothing too serious
I love cake for breakfast too as a concept
I had another 71.5 weigh in on monday - which was ok, as last week fluctuated by 1 kg up..so it was good result in end
but been disaster this week...been in London 4 nights, eaten out and drunk every single one of them
i am on train back to cornwall now..do not think i will get on scales until monday ..and do my best to literally live off fresh air until then

Chattycathydoll · 30/09/2022 20:05

I had a disaster of a day, too much lunch, pizza for dinner and no gym (because I couldn’t stop crying).

I have a new job and I absolutely love it which I know is in itself rare. Due to the nature of the work a lot of it is done independently, and we have a review 3 months in. Everyone I report to has been really pleased with my work, have said they hope I stay with the company long term, but the review process includes an interview with a person connected to running the place but not my work directly iyswim. And omg, I flubbed it so badly. Probably because I love the job so much, was desperate for it to go well and started overthinking. It’s the worst interview I’ve ever done, for the best job I’ve ever had. He looked at me like this 🤨 through the whole thing. I came out of the room and just burst into tears. My boss, who actually oversees my work, is away for the next 2 weeks so a lot hinged on the verbal review and I came across like a complete moron.

Anyway. I couldn’t concentrate on my work afterwards so scraped through and then got lunch offsite, and didn’t go to the gym. I’ve been crying on and off all day and feel terrible- fat, unqualified and sure I’ll be back to square one unemployed again. Sad

poorpaws · 30/09/2022 20:40

Oh nooo @Chattycathydoll I'm sure it wasn't as bad as you thought. I'm sure what you've done so far will outweigh a silly interview. Keep the faith, you'll be ok, your manager will speak up for you.

I don't know 🤷‍♂️ f you're fat or not because I can't remember your weight BUT if you are, you won't be soon because we're all going to lose together, a lovely group of us all supporting each other. Sending you a massive hug.

@Theredjellybean my dog is going to be ok, on painkillers and has to rest her leg. She's stir crazy as she's used to a lot of exercise and part collie so loves to be out.

Sounds like you've had a blast, just own it and do what you can now. I've got a strong feeling fresh air contains calories here in Devon, nothing is free of calories 😬

OP posts:
Theredjellybean · 30/09/2022 20:55

I agree with poor paws... The interview will not be as bad as you think.
We only ever recall the bad things we say

Chattycathydoll · 30/09/2022 21:45

Thank you so much, @poorpaws and @Theredjellybean. I had a nice hot bath, sewed DD’s beany frog back together for the millionth time and feel a bit better and a lot less catastrophise-y now.

Poorpaws indeed tho! Hoping your dog gets better soon. It’s so hard for them when they have to rest- you can’t even explain it to them!

TalkToTheHand123 · 30/09/2022 21:55

Aww @Chattycathydoll when do you find out?

Day three of mini sit-ups and starting to feel a little more sore again. Hopefully after a few more weeks I'll notice a bit more of a flatter belly.🤔

Chattycathydoll · 01/10/2022 00:28

@TalkToTheHand123 I find out next week. Will be trying to stay positive!

Well done on the sit ups- if it’s sore, that means it’s working ;)

TalkToTheHand123 · 01/10/2022 08:08

Fingers crossed for you @Chattycathydoll .

I woke up a few times through the night for the toilet. Sit-ups seemed to speed up metabolism. Tummy should settle from the carvery at some point today 😊

Feeling a bit lighter, so just need to keep at it and should be on track for Xmas.

triplecheeese · 01/10/2022 21:31

Ohhh @Chattycathydoll bless you. I am
with you! First off, after the initial wave of worry, it can't be quite as bad as you think - you love the job and that helps you be good at it and it be a good fit for you - you can't hide that. Big big hugs. I've fluffed enough interviews / presentations / one to one training sessions 😳and you can only pick yourself up and fight another day. There is no moment quite like being faced with an interviewer and thinking "I started this sentence but I haven't got a clue how its going to end". Sending calm and strength!

@poorpaws your self sabotage explainer really spoke to me. Ive now seen the magic goal before the end of the month a few times now, then been several pounds heavier again by the end. Remember that you are now hovering at a lower weight than you were before - all progress is progress even slowgress! You sound active to me and like your day to day intake is healthy and low calorie. Its easy to get hung up on the steps, I know I've been really letting my lack of exercise stress me out. Could you alternate one of you staying with your poor poorly girl and the other walking the dog, so you get out every other day? How is her health most of the time, can you exercise at home when you are staying in with her? And when life gets back to normal - I cant be trusted to exercise in the evening but you say thats a danger zone for you so maybe low impact (Pilates etc) after dinner? I used to manage a weekly online Pilates at 8:30 when DC1 was in bed. Seems like a million years ago tbh but lots of places still run online courses because they were such a lifeline in lockdown.

@endlesswashing welcome back, we've missed you. Posting here is a positive step!

I was a bit silly this week because it was DH's birthday so I'm starting today, 1 October. @Zebracat i made an appeltaart and forgot to freeze the leftovers, sob! So eat the cake! Like you I dont want to live off a restricted diet and start to fear birthdays and get stressed by social occasions because of food

I've got three 19 December goals:

  1. be exercising 3-4 times a week
  2. make soups/stews to take into work for lunch on office days
  3. 3-4lbs off

Phew that was an essay. I should add a fourth goal to check in more often so my replies arent so long!

Zebracat · 01/10/2022 22:08

@Chattycathydoll , I’m sure you will be fine.
Im really hungry, but I have eaten all my calories. I might go and cut up some veg. No one stayed fat because of a carrot and some celery, did they? Maybe a bit of cucumber. Aaargh.

TalkToTheHand123 · 02/10/2022 08:07

Aww @Zebracat you go get on the carrot and cucumber!

Managed to avoid the scales for a few days now. Had a peek at body shape and difficult to notice any difference but do feel a bit tighter and the sore feeling around waist remains so good signs.

Just did 200 mini sit-ups on end of bed to try speed things up and as I have a later start today (10am rather than 8am) so the idea being a gentle workout in the morning when I can as a proper one tires me out too much for the day, then another one before bed.

Haven't been managing to get to bed early much recently so that remains a target. Anyone else do any kind of sit-ups / tummy exercises? Tried doing planks a few times a while ago but found it a bit too much.

poorpaws · 02/10/2022 08:16

@triplecheeese we thought we had the answer with my dog yesterday. We had an old pushchair in the store that we used for my old Cavalier before she passed two years ago. DP cleaned it down. The walk was an absolute nightmare! Cassie would not stay's put even though she was tied in with three leads. She kept jumping about, trying to jump out and we thought she was going to break the already poorly leg. I was so stressed and the pushchair is going to the tip. We are taking it in turns now, one day walking one day staying at home with Cassie. In answer to your question, other than her leg she is in amazing condition according to the vet. She is very fit, her heart is very strong so it's just this leg issue which could take a couple of weeks. DP and I both love walking the dogs so it's staying at home that's the issue. It is raining heavily here today so it will most likely be DP's turn to go out 🤫

@TalkToTheHand123 you are doing so well, you sound to be very much on track. So tell me about your mini sit ups, I know what a sit up is, but a mini one? How many do you do per session and how many sessions? I might have to mini sit up with you if it's not too difficult.

I've done it again this week, started the week brilliantly (stirfries and eating very healthily) and then I get to Friday and it all goes wrong. I'm hoping that being really good for four days and really bad on three still sees a small loss but I have to get my head around Friday to Sunday.

I absolutely love sultana scones and I keep making them in the new air fryer trying to perfect them but then of course I have to keep trying them. If DP takes the dogs out this morning I will most likely be making more.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

Hiya all, I'm back ... well Dd21 has now departed on her study year abroad so I have my time back for me!

Dd20 is also at uni - a couple of hours away so just dh, me and the dog... (and the MIL with dementia 30 min away but I try not to get too involved in that).

I looked and there were 40 new posts! Hope the dog is OK, always a worry when they are injured.

My start to the Christmas challenge has been pretty much ignored, have been eating more due to stress of getting dd21 ready to go, but my metabolism increases when stressed too... so who knows what the scales will say tomorrow! Such a relief now she is there... I still worry about her, but there is nothing to stop her getting there now...

Anyhow, hope everyone is looking forward to their weigh in without too much trepidation... can't believe a week has passed already!

Theredjellybean · 02/10/2022 21:34

I'm. Not looking forward to scales tomorrow... 😔
Just that...

TalkToTheHand123 · 02/10/2022 23:44

Hi all.

@poorpaws It's just sitting on the edge of the bed and leaning back and forwards.

I used to do proper sit-ups but there would always be something hindering, either a sore neck, back or inner legs. With the mattress to sit on, it's nice and soft and the hight doesn't cause soreness to inner leg muscles.

I couldn't be bothered tonight but did some simulated running (twisting hips, swinging arms a bit but with feet firm on floor. Now doing gentle tummy clenches. 😊

Did a 10 hour shift with a colleague who felt the need to turn the office into north pole weather with two large fans, so a bit peeved tonight.😯☹️. Although been on soup all day and night 😂 so happy dietwise.

Theredjellybean · 03/10/2022 07:22

OK... So 72. 2
Which is not so bad
Been swinging between 71.5 and 72.9 the last few weeks.
I will accept that 72.2 is better than I deserve.
This week I intend to get back to 71.5
I did manage to not drink wine yesterday and a did 1.5km rehab run with some pain when running but it went off pretty quickly so that's good step forward.
I should have been running London marathon yesterday... I couldn't bear to watch it, felt so useless, and unfit etc.
But today is new week.. And onwards...

Theredjellybean · 03/10/2022 07:25

@BeyondMyWits welcome back.
Must feel wierd having dc gone.. Are you an empty nester or are you enjoying the peace?
I'm dreading it.. But with four dds someone is always coming home for something.. School hols, exeat, uni holidays, to see the dogs etc

poorpaws · 03/10/2022 07:50

@Theredjellybean I'm so pleased it wasn't as bad as you thought. It's lovely (and in my case quite rare) when the scales decide to give us a loss we aren't expecting.

Because I couldn't dog walk yesterday I cleaned the house (as quickly as I could) the whole time DP was out with them. I couldn't believe how much I could achieve but mainly I wanted to keep working to get as many steps as I could.

Anyway after four "good" days and then the dreaded Friday and weekend I've managed to lose 2.25 lbs. It's not quite as good as it sounds as I had a huge gain last week but it's a start to the twelve weeks challenge. Now at 10st 10.75 so a way to go. I'll be buying more stir fry ingredients this week, I feel chicken stir fry keeps me on track (until I hit the scones 🤭).

Good luck with our first twelve week challenge weigh-in. If you see a gain on those pesky scales we've still got eleven weeks so loads of time to catch up.

poorpaws · 03/10/2022 07:50

@BeyondMyWits good to have you back.

OP posts:
Katiepants27 · 03/10/2022 09:02

Weighed in this morning at 12st 6lbs still. On the plus side, I've not gained anything but I'd quite like to see a lower number on the scales now please!!

BeyondMyWits · 03/10/2022 11:07

Hiya all, weighed in and put on a pound this week.. not too bad in the scheme of things. But needs to be knocked on the head sharpish. So back at 15st 8lb ... Not for long... !

Zebracat · 03/10/2022 13:57

I am just over 16 stone today. Last numbers I can find on here on 27/9 said I needed to lose 51/2 st to get to 10st 13 and a normal bmi, but I haven’t lost 6 pounds, so I don’t know. I would love to get close to 14 stone by Christmas. I think I’m doing ok. If I eat more at 1 meal, then I eat less at the next, not snacking and counting calories as best I can. I had pudding yesterday and served myself a massive portion, then remembered and cut it in half. I do find it difficult when I go out. I am eating out tonight, so I had breakfast late and skipped lunch. Must not choose chips!

TalkToTheHand123 · 03/10/2022 18:08

I have been told today I'd lost a lot of weight from someone I hadn't seen for a while. It reminded me how big I was (I still am really as I don't feel like I've lost much).

I'm at a different service at the moment and not near the CCTV so not able to watch myself at the moment, which I'm not complaining about!

I'll take it as a positive though and keep plodding on! Had a bit of a slip up with buffet food, but I'll take it on the chin.

I'll have to try find ways to work the belly when I get home later.

poorpaws · 03/10/2022 18:13

@TalkToTheHand123 NSV yayyyy! Makes you feel good and encourages you to carry on. Well done.
