Can I join? I’ve not posted here before but have found myself in the overweight category and don’t want to put off any longer!
My goal for 12 weeks is 10 stone 9, to tip myself back into a healthy BMI :)

Zebracat · 23/09/2022 12:07

Oh my days, just looked up healthy bmi for me and it’s 10st 13. . 51/2 stone to lose. Think I better up my target to 2 stone, or 12 kilos. That would take me to my lowest weight in 5 years.

Theredjellybean · 23/09/2022 22:36

My target is 69kg, to be running 5km and to be only drinking one night a week.
Its only 2.5 kgs, so want some other goals

triplecheeese · 24/09/2022 08:30

Welcome @Chattycathydoll and @brianixon. we're a friendly bunch round here and no pressure - we're here to support each other through the ups and downs and plateaus.

My Sept goal was 10st 3 so I think Xmas goal will be 10st. Doesn't sound like much but I've got a lot on towards the end of the year so I'm sure progress will be slowgress

@Theredjellybean Good shout on other goals. By the end of the year I want to be in a routine exercising 3-4x a week. I really need it for my mental health (and chipping away at those lbs). At the moment between work and kids it's only once a week and that's an enormous faff.

PS keep thinking about soup makers now. @poorpaws you should get a sponsorship deal #influencer 😂

Purpleavocado · 24/09/2022 14:59

Hi I'd like to join if I can. I'm currently on an all inclusive holiday! I don't think I've put on a lot because too much diary has given me a bad tummy. I think I'm about 9st 10 but can't weigh here. I'd like to lose 8lb by Xmas

TalkToTheHand123 · 24/09/2022 16:47

Welcome @Purpleavocado ! Haven't been on an all inclusive for a while and the thought stresses me out!!! I'd want to get my money's worth.😊

Theredjellybean · 25/09/2022 07:48

Been a run of three meals out in a row... So scales crept up to 71.9...must get a grip...
On good news though my physio has sanctioned a 1km run this week... Woohoo.
And I am also obsessively thinking about a soup maker too

TalkToTheHand123 · 25/09/2022 08:42

Aww @Theredjellybean Where do you do your running?

I've been doing little tummy exercises any chance I get recently as I'm wanting to speed up body shape improvements asap. I did a 10 min Wii run also. Was way off top 10 score but I didn't struggle like I usually do, so fitness level must be improving.🤔☺️

Plan is to not weigh myself or look in mirror at belly until Xmas time as the slow weight loss is too frustrating. I do feel body shape is improving though so do feel I'm on track.

I feel I'm not too far off being ok with my weight and body shape, maybe a few more months away at the current rate and methods.

Anyone else do little tummy exercises here and there or are most just blasting off all in one go and is everyone on track?

Theredjellybean · 25/09/2022 10:20

I run outside... Either along coastal path or beach if here at home or Hyde Park or regents Park if in London.
I'm on a strict rehab programme after three prolapsed discs and stress fractures in spine... I was training for marathon when had to stop.. Its so frustrating as running was my down time, and way to relax, it coincided with full menopause too, so the change in my body shape plus no running has been really hard to accept.
But months of physio have paid off.. I'm still in pain most days but learning to live with it.
Plan is to gradually increase running and start very carefully adding in weights to rehab exercises... But it's slow.. I was using weights but then pain went off the scale so had to go backwards...

Zebracat · 25/09/2022 16:39

Weigh in day for me, and I have lost a pound, which is ok, as I have been over my calorie allowance on 3 days in the past week. It does mean 1/2 stone in 3 weeks.
I thought I couldn't do anything while I wait for the hip replacement, but my ears pricked up at little tummy exercises.what are they?

TalkToTheHand123 · 25/09/2022 20:07

Aww sorry to hear that @Theredjellybean . Glad things are getting a bit better.

@Zebracat Tummy tensing is just giving the tummy muscles a little squeeze when breathing out. I usually do this before going to sleep, although by the time I get to bed I fall asleep too quick so don't stay awake long to do them. I also do them when sitting down but often forget to keep doing them. It's such a good and easy way to work the tummy though.

Zebracat · 25/09/2022 23:12

@TalkToTheHand123 thanks, squeezing away…

TalkToTheHand123 · 26/09/2022 08:54

Aww fab stuff @Zebracat . I was too zonked to post anything last night as really went for it exercise-wise yesterday. Hoping to take it a bit easier today.

The gentle tummy clench exercises can do wonders to ease bloating. I seem to have a sensitive digestion and it doesn't take much to set it off. Hopefully if the waistline reduces, it will be less of an issue.

Zebracat · 26/09/2022 09:37

Well that’s very good to know@TalkToTheHand123, because I am plagued by it at the moment. Just had yoghurt for breakfast as I’ve woken up with a belly like a drum. And the farting! I think it’s the Naproxen.

Zebracat · 26/09/2022 09:39

Sorry, probly more than you needed to know.

BeyondMyWits · 26/09/2022 12:35

Half a pound down here... 15st 7 now... not quite under 15 and a half, but should be by the end of the month... staying positive...

Sounds like everyone is upping their exercise... my knees are shot, so not sure what I can do. Advice is welcomed, but I won't be going swimming... too much of a faff for me.

Katiepants27 · 26/09/2022 13:21

Hi all,

Back from 10 days in Devon. Far too much cider and ice cream, but all the coast path walking seems to have balanced it all out, and weighed in this morning at 12st 6lbs, so maintained the 6lb loss.

@poorpaws , am thinking about my 12 week Christmas target (even though I inwardly groan when anyone mentions the C word in September!)

I'm going to aim for 10st 10lbs, which is a 2lb a week loss if all goes to plan.

Really feels like the weather has turned here, so am planning lots of casseroles, soups and stews now!

endlesswashing · 26/09/2022 14:57

Hi all,

I haven't weighed in a few weeks and have gone totally rouge with eating and drinking and exercise has been non existent.

I will weigh in tomorrow and set a goal for Christmas.

TalkToTheHand123 · 26/09/2022 16:33

@BeyondMyWits I got sick of drinking chlorine and having to dodge people 😯

I found mini exercisers less rough on the knees or just gentle stretching / yoga or just tummy clenches ☺️

@Katiepants27 You've got me thinking of casseroles now and reminded me I have chicken in the fridge, so will be on it later 😁

Chattycathydoll · 26/09/2022 17:33

@Zebracat if you’re on naproxen, you should be taking something to protect your gut as well like omeprazole- hope your dr mentioned this as it can have worse affects than a bit of gas!

Chattycathydoll · 26/09/2022 17:35

I’m finally feeling better after covid and that means getting back on track with eating & exercise. I stewed in my own misery for the duration and ate far too much lazy food, so my weight is going to be terrible, but I was back in the office for the first time today and that structure always helps.

Zebracat · 26/09/2022 18:09

@Chattycathydoll I am taking omeprazole too. I shouldn’t actually be taking Naproxen because my blood tests weren’t great, but they forgot to put Cocodamol on repeat and I can’t get through. Naproxen works better on the pain. Hope the scales are forgiving of your Covid blip.

poorpaws · 26/09/2022 19:36

Good Evening everybody and a very big welcome to our newcomers, I hope you enjoy your time here and do well with us.

I've discovered a pattern of events that I am not happy with. It would seem that every time I get to 10 st 9 lbs (and this has been my monthly goal for three months I think) I start to feel slimmer, just a little bit slimmer and happier with my middle area where all my weight sits. But, as soon as I reach 10 st 9 lbs, every single time I self sabotage and immediately go back up to something like 11 st or more. It's almost as if I don't like feeling slimmer, but I do. I reached the magical number last week again and this morning I weigh 10 st 13 lb. I just go mad, eating everything I can until I see sense again. I think this is a very long winded way of saying I'd like to be 10 st 7lbs by our Christmas deadline and will have pushed through this magical number, so a 6 lb target for me.

Today is day one of our Christmas 12 week challenge and I have been busy all day, trying not to concentrate on food too much. I still love my soup maker and I'm getting used to the air fryer. I have spent an embarrassing amount of time sorting out my freezer (it's only four drawers so not a big one) but I found loads of food which has been frozen too long and I'm either throwing it away or eating it very soon. I found nine beef burgers in separate containers and to be honest I'm not a beef burger person but I've started to eat them and actually I'm quite enjoying them. They are the thick ones in the chiller cabinet and for some reason I have brought them home and frozen them far too many times.

I hope everyone is doing well, you all seem to be exercising like mad, I must do some!! Good luck to everyone for the beginning of the Christmas 12 week challenge, it would be wonderful if we all met our goals.

@Katiepants27 sorry for the C word, I'll try to call it our 12 week challenge 😀. I hate the C word being used early too but it's actually up until 19 December, so a bit away from the actual C day.

Aww @poorpaws That's one of the reasons I have stopped weighing myself at the moment, as when I reach a target, I get complacent!😯

Muscles around my tummy have started to feel sore and the only thing I can think of is I've started doing a few mini sit-ups at the side of the bed on a night time. Hopefully I can keep doing this regularly as it is a fairly easy exercise and should help tone the tummy more and quicker 😊.
