Hiya all, just realised I'm winding down for bed time and haven't posted my weigh in news.... drum roll... lost half a pound. Now 15st 8.5lb! Kissing that plateau goodbye... just... I'm taking it as a win anyhow.

Nice to see newbies....

And I think our new mantra should be Clara CAN...

TalkToTheHand123 · 05/09/2022 22:08

You'll be overtaking me soon @BeyondMyWits !

Came 4th on the 10 minute Wii running tonight! Haven't been on in weeks and usually struggle to get in the top 10, so fitness levels must have improved recently even if I haven't noticed much.

Theredjellybean · 05/09/2022 22:20

Hello.. I'm back from. Holiday
Amazing Weighed in at 73kgs...usually I gain around 4kgs..so a 1.5 kg gain is very pleasing.
Aim. Is 70kgs for Christmas.. Very doable.

Readytostartagain · 06/09/2022 08:12

Thank you @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl for sharing. So much of what you said hit home with me and I’ve been thinking about how much I stop myself doing things because certain family members make me feel I would fail. Need to change my mindset or I will just keep repeating the same patterns of overeating and lack of activity.

Weighed in yesterday at 11 2.5 so a gain of 3lbs but been off it it for a while. Would like to lose about 35lbs but would be delighted to be 10 stone for Christmas.

poorpaws · 06/09/2022 18:28

@BeyondMyWits every little helps as they say 😁. Loving our new manta, yes Clara Can.

@TalkToTheHand123 Improved fitness, well done. Third next time is my guess.

@Theredjellybean I hope you had a lovely holiday and a good rest. That is a very small gain and you'll get that off very soon.

@Readytostartagain Also Ready Can and don't you forget it!

I've had a strange sort of day, usual dog walk and then a food shop where yet again DP whizzes around and I can't find him to show him things he wants me to find for him😡. I swear if we were married I'd divorce him.

I found a half price soup maker online and ordered that. I think it's an old model because I can't find it anywhere else but at half price I don't care.

I've been trying to get certain jobs done today and failed miserably so I may work tonight for a while. Made a stir fry, followed by strawberries and yogurt and a popcorn bar and I'm ravenous. These stir frys are ok but in less than an hour I'm hungry again.

I hope you're all ok and doing well.

Oh yes and @Zebracat thank you for your very positive post, I can see you'll be a real asset to this thread. I hope you're having a good week.

@Readytostartagain has given me an idea. How do you all fancy a Christmas goal? I'm thinking we could set a goal on 1 October, so for just under three months. Anyone like this idea? Obviously if you don't want to join in that's absolutely fine but I wonder if it would kick us into action (says she who hasn't met a single goal so far 🙈 but 🤞🏻).

I know Clara Can and Ready can 😉

A Christmas goal sounds great... I need something to keep me out of the quality street tin!

I work in a small community pharmacy and at Christmas our customers do rather spoil us! As soon as December comes around, they drop in for their prescription with a tub of chocs, some biscuits or shortbread "for you all to have with your coffee"... oh my, the boss puts out a few of them and the rest get given to us to take home.

I try to "be good", but there are so many temptations!

Zebracat · 06/09/2022 21:44

I’m up for a Christmas goal. I don’t know how they work though. I know I always overindulge and then spend months clawing my body back.
I'm doing MFP and a weird thing happened yesterday. I’m supposed to have 1200 calories, but probably misjudged my enormous bowl of porridge and my day came to just under 1000 calories. MFP Proper told me off for unhealthy eating!
Today I had (less)porridge, cheese and crackers ( weighed out 21/2 oz), yoghurt and a small portion of a creamy chicken pasta thing. Just under 1200 calories, but too much fat.
And I went swimming, can’t really use my legs and worried about ladders, so I went to a disabled session. I was ok so I might start more regular sessions. Trying to drink more water and less tea. And weigh stuff.
Having spent months knowing I needed to diet, but not, I’m currently pretty euphoric about starting, going to try to stay positive.

TalkToTheHand123 · 06/09/2022 22:54

Aww @poorpaws I didn't even finish top ten but a decent effort and had a little pedal.

Couldn't resist going on the scales and was whiskers away from 14 and a half stone.

Xmas target is 14 stone which would mean 1 stone in 12 months which is a little depressing.

poorpaws · 07/09/2022 07:53

I've been doing maths, haaa I was always near the bottom of the class in maths.

If those who want to join us in a Christmas goal weigh in on Monday 26 September and set their goal from that date, we'll have 12 weeks to lose weight until 19 December. That seems like a good time frame. We don't need to set massive goals or we'll fail. I know I have several family birthdays to celebrate in those three months and we don't want life to become so dull for quarter of the year.

I had a good day yesterday and planning a busy day today. I'd like to lose a couple of pounds before the Christmas target starts. I hope quite a few of us set Christmas goals and we can encourage each other to the finishing line.

I hope you're all ok, and keep trying.

Katiepants27 · 07/09/2022 08:24

@poorpaws a Christmas goal would be good. To be honest it's not the food at Christmas that's my undoing (as I don't really like a lot of the traditional grub)
It's the drinking though. 3 family/friends birthdays, plus parties etc and I end up having far too much booze which as we all know is pretty calorific!!!

TalkToTheHand123 · 08/09/2022 14:20

I absolutely love Xmas dinner. I don't recall over doing it (only Xmas dinner and pudding, no chocolates or alcohol etc) and I do have one of those dodgy scales but I'm sure I put on over a stone last Xmas day!

I went for a long walk the other day which I won't be doing again in a hurry as needed the toilet half way through 😯

Had a few opportunities recently to stuff my face but somehow managed to tell myself the next weigh in will have a better taste and avoided them! Touch wood going ok. Taking a lbs at a time! Slowly getting down. Not too far away from 14 and a half stone.

TalkToTheHand123 · 08/09/2022 14:21

Just to add I did manage to get home in time ☺️

Zebracat · 08/09/2022 17:58

Today I’ve been really hungry, but every tiny meal has made me bloated. Don’t know why. Ah well.

poorpaws · 09/09/2022 07:55

@TalkToTheHand123 sounds like you've really got this. I know it's slow going but in time that proves to be a good thing. I've lost weight quickly before and put it back on even quicker.

@Zebracat I hope the bloating has subsided, I've suffered that in the past too, it's not nice. Neither is the (tmi) constipation I regularly suffer from 🥴

My lovely neighbour is an amazing cook. Yesterday she brought over apple and rhubarb pie and she gives very large portions! I gave DP the largest piece but I just couldn't resist it, it was divine. However, I did just have a chicken salad for dinner without the jacket potato I was going to have and I halved my supper portion so not too much damage I hope.

It's going extremely slowly here but as long as I keep losing, even tiny amounts, I see it as a positive.

Keep on trying everyone and happy Friday.

OP posts:
Zebracat · 09/09/2022 09:26

Well@poorpaws the rhubarb will sort out the constipation!j

poorpaws · 09/09/2022 11:49

@Zebracat 🤣 haha very true but not yet I fear.

Katiepants27 · 09/09/2022 14:03

Feeling grumpy today. Weighed in at 12st 5lbs, which is another 1lb gone, but then had the midset that I deserved a reward and promptly obliterated 2 packets chocolate fingers and a bottle of coke. So annoyed with myself, and feel really rubbish for it 😠
So, new plan is to stop weighing so regularly and keep it to once a week. Then maybe the scales won't influence my eating habits so much (wishful thinking probably).

Zebracat · 09/09/2022 16:29

Ouch @Katiepants27 that’s not so much a reward as self sabotage.
It’s good to find what works for you. I weigh every day to keep me accountable, if I try and go to once a week I forget and then everything slips. Can you think of any non food rewards?maybe a pound towards new clothes for every pound lost, or make a deal with yourself that you can have a small kitkat for every pound lost. The big reward of course is reclaiming your health and fitness.
But gah just listen to me all holier than thou at 16st 12. Forgive yourself, self hatred is worse than obesity.

Zebracat · 09/09/2022 16:33

I had a friend visit today and nothing to offer, so I made an apple cake.Tried to use less butter and sugar, so a small slice was only 150 calories, but I did think it would have been much improved by ice cream.

Katiepants27 · 09/09/2022 17:01

Oh, agreed @Zebracat , I am an expert at self sabotage!!!!

endlesswashing · 09/09/2022 20:51

@Katiepants27 and @Zebracat self sabotage Queen here too. I've been back from holiday for 1 week and have not stopped eating rubbish.
@poorpaws I also suffer with constipation (tmi) especially when I eat badly.
I ate quite well when away, plenty of fish, grilled white meats, fruit, veg and salad. Although, I did drink a fair amount of wine but managed to only gain 2lbs over 2 weeks. I'm absolutely dreading getting on the scales after the last week of being a human dustbin. 😫

TalkToTheHand123 · 09/09/2022 20:55

I'm becoming a bit of an ice cream junkie so going to try cut down a bit. Hopefully the scales will be kind if successful as this is probably why the weight loss is slowing down.

endlesswashing · 09/09/2022 21:05

@TalkToTheHand123 I really do find it a battle to be consistent.
Maybe have a small ice cream treat once a week so you're not depriving yourself.
