Went off the rails a little yesterday, but got to bed a little earlier than usual (took a lot of effort) but has done wonders on the scales.

First time in a while not waking up tired, so pleased about that too.

poorpaws · 23/08/2022 08:04

@BeyondMyWits yay such good news. I love single figures but would love to see them in the stones and pounds (will never happen). You've really got this now and I think with an extra push you could meet that mini goal.

@TalkToTheHand123 Snap! I had a rotten night the night before last and was grumpy and tired all day yesterday (also got soaked walking into town which didn't help my mood). Went to bed early with a light supper (I can't sleep if I don't eat before bed), it helped with my snacking problem and I feel so much better this morning.

I've been eating more fish (with jacket potato and salad) and the scales seem to be moving down a little at last. I'm back to my last months goal and only have a week left to work on my August goal ☹️

Happy Tuesday everyone. There's still time to meet that August goal.

TalkToTheHand123 · 23/08/2022 12:13

Aww @poorpaws , I'm way off this month's target but if I can focus on early nights regularly, I'll at least be back to losing weight. 😊

BeyondMyWits · 23/08/2022 20:06

You are right @poorpaws ... there is time.

triplecheeese · 23/08/2022 20:23

Well done @BeyondMyWits! fantastic progress. @TalkToTheHand123 early nights are definitely a big one, well done you for focusing on them. I'm really feeling my poor sleep habits now i'm back at work. I'm terrible for going to bed early then staying up doomscrolling on my phone until the baby wakes up then ending up sleeping on his floor. Now I'm working long days i'm feeling so so fatigued. I think I should do more exercise to boost my energy levels but its so hard to fit it in...

absolutely bizarre gain on the scales this week. An August-smashing 10lbs 3 last Monday. 10lbs 8 today??? How can that be possible after a perfectly normal week?!

poorpaws · 24/08/2022 07:50

@triplecheeese that weight gain is bizarre, would the August smashing total be wrong? Perhaps by the end of the month you'll be back to your low weight, either way you are doing so well and I'm so far behind you <sigh>. Just don't lose heart or you might give up and don't forget how far you've come.

One week left in August to catch up and I'm really trying to go for it. I told DP this and he decides we'll go out on Thursday to our usual café which as I've told you before has nothing slimming on the menu. He's not the kind of person that would do it on purpose to sabotage my diet, it's just that Thursday is going to be a lovely sunny day and the man who never wants to go out wants to go out!

I'm eating a lot of fish this week to try to catch up. I buy fish occasionally and then don't fancy it so I put it in the freezer at the back and it just accumulates. I've never got any room in my freezer so I'm trying to eat out of it and the fish is the oldest thing in there. It's one of those things if you ask if I'd like fish for dinner I'd say no, but then when I actually cook it and eat it I quite enjoy it, bizarre!

So teammates one week to go in August, try for that final push and see if we can't smash some goals.

Hi all.

Back under 15 stone after getting to bed and sleep for around half ten. Woke up about 4am and could resist a little surfing but managed to put phone away and go back to sleep!

Diet hasn't been too bad but the early nights have done wonders. Had to do a long walk at work which may have helped.

Another work's afternoon tea tomorrow which I couldn't say no to 😯 so more early nights a must!

triplecheeese · 24/08/2022 10:26

I think you're right @poorpaws, the 10st 3/4 was possibly a fluke low but I must remember that it was only a few weeks ago I thought i'd never get below 10st 7 again. I have been very stressed and anxious recently and I don't want that to be where weight loss comes from! Can Will Power please give me a leg up to the wagon and lets see where we are in a week...

triplecheeese · 24/08/2022 10:27

Great @TalkToTheHand123, you inspired me to go to bed early last night! Small changes add up!

TalkToTheHand123 · 24/08/2022 12:58

Was out and about so thought I'd treat myself (couple of wraps and a slice of quiche) oh well, just have to take the hit and try prepare myself to say no.

Going to set myself a target of being good for a few weeks now! (apart from unavoidable work meal outs!)

TalkToTheHand123 · 25/08/2022 10:54

Setting myself a short term target of end of the month to get to 14 and a half stone as surprisingly only a couple of lbs above.

Late night last night but off today so had a bit of a lie in although neighbour's dog barking wasn't too impressive!

Going back to trying to delay morning food for as long as possible too as seemed to help last time.

poorpaws · 25/08/2022 20:11

Hi everyone

How is it going? Have you any plans for the Bank Holiday and is it going to be a stressful time food wise?

We don't really do much on Bank Holidays but DP has bought a large steak which we'll have air fried chips with and something else (haven't decided what yet, salad maybe). I haven't had steak for ages so hopefully it will be a nice treat. Damage limitation will be to give him the biggest piece, more chips and not have wine.

We didn't go out as planned today because I wanted to do the food shopping. It's always difficult at holiday times when the tourists come and there is so little left in the supermarkets if you shop later. Did NOT buy chocolate!

@TalkToTheHand123 You are doing so well, you are really on this now. You go girl 😀

Keep doing your best everyone, only one more week left to the August goal (I must keep trying).

Sounds lovely @poorpaws. Not a huge amount going on with me over the weekend. Taking the kids to a waterpark on Saturday and DH is doing a half marathon on Sunday so he will be eating like a horse after! Need to do the food shop myself and make sure some point i get to exercise. I haven't exercised all week, so I'm as stiff as the Tin Man and grumbling like Victor Meldrew.

Have a lovely weekend when you all get there. Have been pretty good since my shock spike so interested to see what happens on the scales on Monday.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 25/08/2022 23:32

@triplecheeese I haven't done any exercise for a couple of weeks Blush lost my mojo during the heatwave and it's yet to return! We're away next week and there are loads of activities on offer for the DC, I'll join in with those and hope it'll be a kick start for me.

I'm looking into cheap activities for the DC for winter - maybe swimming or something - we can do walking/ cycling etc but I'm wondering whether an indoors option would be handy too. Plus it would be useful to get DC off his bum and actually moving! Honestly, we have loads of stuff we could do round the house/ garden, but he'd rather glue himself to the sofa for HOURS and then moan about why he's putting on weight Hmm

@poorpaws maybe a nice salad and/ or some big tomatoes with your steak? Caramelised onions?

I am such a fat blob at the moment Sad lost all my confidence and am just, well, a bit fed up. Maybe the new term will galvanise me into action!

poorpaws · 26/08/2022 07:59

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl I'm always cold, so cold that in winter I wear many, many layers making me look twice my size (and I'm big enough already). My thoughts are if I don't lose some weight in the next two months no-one will ever know I'm slimmer and I will continue to look like a big fat blob until at least next spring (which is an awful long way off). It's making me more motivated to try to lose at least half a stone before I dig out my thermal tops. I'm dreading this winter.

@triplecheeese Tin man and victor meldrew made me laugh, such a good description. Monday scales may well be down for you again if you persevere this weekend. I find weekends so very difficult and I have no idea why because I don't work so every day is the same. I shouldn't need chocolate on Friday night "after work" but I still do.

If the weather stays good today after the dog walk we are going to sit in the garden. This usually means that DP will fall to sleep and snore and I'll be thinking I could get on with making my bolognese sauce.

Have a good Friday everyone. Three days to weigh-in, let's see how well we can do in a few days.

OP posts:
triplecheeese · 26/08/2022 09:43

Glad I gave you a laugh @poorpaws 😂 I know what you mean about "after work"
when you haven't worked - I was the same on maternity leave or in lockdown - it's like you need something to signify it's the end of the week or daytime. The power of an evening Sauvignon blanc or bar of chocolate!

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl I have completely fallen out of the habit of exercising - I know that it's so good for me mentally but I just can't seem to shift myself at the moment.

BeyondMyWits · 26/08/2022 16:35

Hiya all, busy week again... aren't they all at the moment... I only work part time but have to cover others' leave, so since my kids are grown now, I get to have time off when it is cheaper for hols, but have to cover more during the school holidays which is fine (no time off allowed in Dec, so no one can whinge about Xmas leave).

Weight loss going OK ish I think... not stuffing my face, but not being a saint either... just a bit meh... pooling along waiting for uni to start for the "kids" so they aren't tooing and froing and messing up meal plans!

Hope everyone is on track for their mini targets... not sure here.

TalkToTheHand123 · 26/08/2022 19:24

Burger and chips (work do) then fish and chips (parents house), 😯 washed down with a few Pepsi maxs, then some ice cream argh! so probably a little off track! Hoping to undo some damage over the next few days.

TalkToTheHand123 · 27/08/2022 10:35

Braved the scales last night and not too far above the 15 stone mark which was a bit of a suprise as thought it would be a bit more and weighed this morning and not too far from the 14 and a half stone mark so back to my lowest in a long time.

Target is to get to 14 and a half stone as soon as possible!

More sleep and gentle tummy clenches in bed seem to be helping a lot.

poorpaws · 27/08/2022 14:04

Good result @TalkToTheHand123 you'll get to 14 and a half stone very soon I'm sure. I have the faith 😃

I was really upset this morning. I've been good and doing well trying to meet my end of August goal, I've really put the work in. I stepped on the scales certain I'd have lost since the previous day and I've gained half a pound ☹️. I tried so hard <sigh>. Hoping it will come off again before the end of August.

I hope you all have a really good bank holiday weekend and try not to go too mad with the treats 🧁🥂 I'll try too!

hi all
i have been a bit distracted but tried not to use food as prop
not always successful but have managed to weigh today ( day before holiday) at 71.5 kg
i am very pleased as not done any exercise for 3 weeks and had ups and downs with food.
a few months back i was hovering aorund 74, then it was up down round 73 and now seems to be hovering around 71.5..so while not the 70 kgs i wanted to be i am still pleased and going to try not to wreck it on holiday and then re set for autumn.
plan is to be aiming for 68 for christmas....

poorpaws · 27/08/2022 19:14

@Theredjellybean have a fabulous holiday, enjoy it. Any diet damage can be sorted later on and Christmas is a long way away. Just have a great time 😀

poorpaws · 28/08/2022 19:43

No luck with that pesky half pound coming off this morning either.

Last night I had horrendous chocolate cravings. I knew I had kitkats, a curly wurly and some small chocolate bars that DP likes. I knew the way I felt I would eat the lot! I had a long bath, washed my hair, read some mumsnet chewing gum and then went to bed early. I was so proud of myself this morning that I actually had, for once, won and not even a tiny piece of chocolate had passed my lips. I really do need to do this regularly.

My lovely neighbour has bought a very expensive barbecue and has given me her old one, which to me is a fantastic one. It's so much better than the very cheap ones I was considering buying. I feel very lucky but daren't actually try it yet because of my diet 🙈

I hope everyone is having a nice bank holiday weekend.

OP posts:
poorpaws · 28/08/2022 19:44

Are you weighing in tomorrow even though it's bank holiday Monday? I think I will.

OP posts:
TalkToTheHand123 · 28/08/2022 20:06

I will try not to weigh myself as I'm becoming a bit obsessed, but no doubt I will out of curiosity. Although it helps me understand what I'm doing right and wrong, usually.
