So glad it's cooler now! We've been eating plent of salad, fruit and chilled meat and some pasta so I have avoided cooking in the evening in the heat.

I work in a school kitchen and this week has definitely been a challenge. Last day of term today and summer holidays are very welcome.
Scales are staying more of less the same which I'm pleased about as I'm getting pretty close to go goal weight now.
Definitely going to try to exercise more regularly (online classes) as it really helps my motivation to make better choices when I do.

TalkToTheHand123 · 21/07/2022 11:54

Going to wait a while to weigh myself again as scales seem glued on 15 stone exactly and just refusing to go under and becoming a bit obsessed 🙄.

I feel I'm on the right track though finally, touch wood.

BeyondMyWits · 21/07/2022 14:30

@TalkToTheHand123 mine are glued on 15st12... still, could be worse... used to be 16st 5 where they were stuck, so I'm taking the win... (only taken 2 MONTHS so far)

BeyondMyWits · 21/07/2022 14:36

Lost the last half of my post !

Sometimes I think we get in a holding pattern where we get used to less food and nothing seems to work, until boom... it suddenly does.

lisalou1401 · 21/07/2022 16:46

Another good day (so far!) you're all doing well with the exercise DVDs. I am trying to just get 10k steps a day before working back into my YouTube workouts which I usually love. Although sat in office all day I've barely done 3k so far so will need to do some sort of step workout tonight to hit it! Need to up my water intake today too so I'll end up peeing all night!

TalkToTheHand123 · 22/07/2022 07:10

So true @BeyondMyWits

I'm now at a body shape I'm ok with and any more weightloss is a bonus. Very happy weight isn't yo-yoing too and less bloating. Should be able to keep at it finally.

BeyondMyWits · 22/07/2022 07:33

Morning all....

It was so much easier to eat less before the "kids" came home from uni... now they come and go, friends pop around, and I never know how many I'm cooking for, so find it hard to plan.

Need to make the most of it I guess, just feels like everything is trying to sabotage the diet, or sabotage the mental approach. I just keep telling myself... FIFTEEN not sixteen...

Need my oomph topping up again...

poorpaws · 22/07/2022 08:02

@BeyondMyWits I'm carrying arms full of oomph to give to you, don't drop any.

I'm doing so well this week both with exercise and food. I think I was so appalled at my lame efforts last week after an amazing start and then four days of bingeing, that this week I wouldn't let that happen. Three days left and I just can't ruin it now.

I made caramel rolo ice cream yesterday, it looks amazing. If it's as good as it looks I'll have to give it to neighbours or I will scoff the whole lot. I also cooked two big packs of chicken breasts to freeze. I buy sliced chicken to go with my lunch time salads and they are expensive for what you get in them so I've got plenty to go at now and chicken is my go to meat (I don't eat a great deal of meat) it's so low in calories.

It's very cool here today, DP has gone AWOL again (having bathroom flooring replaced) so it's lone dog walk and then I'm free for the whole day (probably spend it doing housework ☹️).

I hope you are all doing well and sending a sprinkling of oomph to everyone.

TalkToTheHand123 · 22/07/2022 09:38

Aww ❤️ ice-cream although trying to cut down a little.

Should have some points spare for some alcohol this weekend as been quite good all week and not touched a drop for a few days. Won't be going over the top though hopefully (especially with the prices!) as don't want to undo any progress.

triplecheeese · 22/07/2022 09:45

Thank you so much @poorpaws for the support and the oomph. You are doing brilliantly this week, and good shout on the cooked chicken. I only really cook meat for the children but my husband is a carnivore so chicken salads seem to be a compromise. I just ordered some (pricey but delish) jars of prepared chickpeas and lentils that I can bung in lunch salads.

I had a non-scale victory yesterday that I can only really share here... the baby had a very hard morning at nursery and all I wanted to do was eat a bag of donuts and a bucket of wine. So instead I made us a broccoli & chickpea salad in a very nice dressing and bought a new Jillian Michaels DVD instead. I've done the DVD twice and want to make the salad again...

agree that office days are rubbish for steps @lisalou1401! I'm actually a bit worried about going back to work as I spend so much time now pounding the pavements with the baby in the pram that even that exercise will drop off..!

Thanks to all for keeping this thread going, it's such a lovely place to come and check in and hear from you all (especially helps me avoid the more feral corners of mumsnet whcih make anyone want to binge...)

lisalou1401 · 22/07/2022 10:00

@triplecheeese that's brilliant what Jillian Michaels dvd is it? I used to do quite a lot of hers, years ago!

Well I got home last night and at 9pm I did a step workout! Not starting till 2pm today so hoping for a decent dog walk to get them in before work.

Weekend is here.....always my downfall! Feeling a bit more motivated this last couple days tho so fingers crossed.

The salad sounds lovely!

Readytostartagain · 22/07/2022 12:42

Sidling back in. Not had a great week- heat, perimenopausal flooding and a work crisis. I’ve worked out it’s 22 weeks until Christmas this weekend so aiming for a lb a week until then which would be brilliant. Will weigh in tomorrow and start a clean slate

poorpaws · 22/07/2022 14:22

@Readytostartagain 😱 only 22 weeks, it just can't be! I feel like I've been dieting for ever, I have to lose a lot this week, I just have to. I wonder how much can realistically be lost in 22 weeks, taking into account when life (and celebrations and crappy weeks) just get in the way. Surely I'll meet my goal by Christmas 😳

I'm on strike today. I've done a dog walk, visited DD for an hour, chatted (about food) to nice neighbour and now I'm just meh, housework, no! I'm not sure quite what to do with myself but I don't want to do any work.

Have a good Friday everyone.

Popping to gym on way home, just long enough to feel like I'm getting some money's worth then hopefully to the local alcohol establishment for a little refreshment and reward for a week of decent food and drink refrainment.

triplecheeese · 22/07/2022 18:12

I love a bit of Jillian @lisalou1401 and loads of her old workouts are on YouTube now but I bought One Week Shred as a "treat" (sigh 😂). It's 2 30 min workouts (one strength one cardio) and you're meant to do them both every day for a week for a "shred" but that sounds bonkers so I'm just going to ignore that and add it to my roster. My fave Jillian is No More Trouble Zones #JillianFan

Hello and thanks for the Christmas heads up @Readytostartagain! well done on evening gym @TalkToTheHand123. I can never ever do evening exercise... I've got all day to think of an excuse...

lisalou1401 · 22/07/2022 19:15

@TalkToTheHand123 enjoy your refreshments!! I was in Asda and debated a bottle gin but I left it and now I'm really regretting my decision! I've came home ti DH wanting a Chinese so I've caved and now wishing I had the alcohol too (go big or go home right?) plus DH wants a movie night in bed which means crisps and sweets argh!

@triplecheeese ahhh I've not done these ones. At one point I did a lot of 30 day shred and ripped in 30. I also did 6 week 6 pack but didn't enjoy that one as much.

Going to try stay on track all weekend since I'm clearly going well off it tonight!!

lisalou1401 · 22/07/2022 19:16

Oops meant DD wants a movie night. Not DH. Still getting used to mumsnet lingo!

Newdawnfreedom · 22/07/2022 21:38

Have fallen off the wagon hard again just because it's Friday and kids wanted dominos pizza. I've even put a reminder on my phone not to partake as I aways feel so horrible afterwards. Feeling lethargic and hopeless but tomorrow is a new day ✨

Readytostartagain · 23/07/2022 06:17

Weighed in this morning- 7lb up in the last month 😱 operation 1lb a week until Christmas has begun and hopefully can start turning the tide. Think I’ve just got to accept I can’t eat as much as I’d like to even if it’s relatively heathy.

triplecheeese · 23/07/2022 06:31

@Newdawnfreedom give yourself a break from weighing for a few days as the salty pizza will make it seem higher than it is! Loads of water and kind self talk, we get enough knocks from the world as it is. I say this as someone who also had pizza with the kids last night 😉

@Readytostartagain welcome back and good luck on Operation OPAWTC (one pound a week til Christmas)

@lisalou1401 30 day shred will always be my first love, I have fond memories of having Jillian sessions with several mates when we were "being healthy", all crammed into my student room. Then going to the pub for wedges and triple vodka Diet Coke. Happy days. Hope you get a G&T tonight!

Got a LOT of life admin to get through today so I'm determined to get off to a good start and go to parkrun. Onwards!

TalkToTheHand123 · 23/07/2022 07:11

Did a few mins at the gym yesterday so better than nothing! Didn't end up going for a drink as the rain put me off. Food indulgence, but relatively healthy so could have been worse. Note to self to drink plenty water instead of trying to satisfy a fake hunger!

Takeaway pizza regret, I know it well. I try tell myself the food is not my friend. It sometimes works. Maybe eat loads of salad / veg before hand to fill you up so you are less tempted or just take the hit and drink gallons of water to detox!

Daughter has a party today near mine today and no real option for a local cheeky drink so may be banking some alcohol points this weekend for next weekend.

Mollyplop999 · 23/07/2022 07:14

Can I join please? So fed up. Start every day with good intentions but it all goes to pot by evening 😒

endlesswashing · 23/07/2022 09:03

@Newdawnfreedom @triplecheeese @lisalou1401 must have been a day for falling off the wagon. No pizza but plenty of chocolate, some sweets and a couple of glasses of wine.
Planning to have a healthy weekend for balance (just need the will power).

endlesswashing · 23/07/2022 09:09

Please do @Mollyplop999 we are a friendly bunch.
I find evenings more difficult than the day. Weekends are also harder than the week. Silly really as I often have more time to cook and plan better options.

BeyondMyWits · 23/07/2022 10:37

Morning all... think we are all in need of that oomph @poorpaws ...

I took the dog out this morning for an hour, but I think I get more exercise sitting on the sofa! He's a slow old plodder... which is what I am becoming!

I'm trying to replace a lot of my carbs with veg right now, just to make me feel less bloated and lethargic, it is working, slowly, but it is working. So I have half portions of pasta/potatoes/rice and double portion of veg.

But pie will win sometimes.
