@TalkToTheHand123 yes plenty water!!! I've still fallen off the wagon as didn't put the leftover Chinese in the bin I ate the rest this morning. And some Pringles. And then haribo. I need to down 19 glasses of water lol

@BeyondMyWits at least you got out. DD has s friend round today so I can't go a walk or do my step workout till later. I am going to try claw this back though. I was doing well for a few days there! Hope by writing it here I'll feel accountable.

Is anyone doing actual plans? Slimming world /noom / 5:2 etc?

BeyondMyWits · 23/07/2022 13:28

@lisalou1401 tried em all, failed em all...

To much faffing for me. I have a fussy husband, my 2 grown daughters back from uni, one a veggie the other fussy++ and will not make lots of different food, or food at different times etc. For me any diet has to fit my lifestyle or it gets quickly dropped.

This one is working slowly but surely... "eating a bit less"... almost a pound a week so far.

poorpaws · 23/07/2022 13:55

@Mollyplop999 you are very welcome to join us. We all have different goals and means of getting there but one day we will all win the battle of the bulge. We are a supportive, friendly group so do join in.

@Newdawnfreedom I'm not a pizza fan, except for Dominos and I love theirs. I'm sure an occasional one can't hurt and you can make up for it in the next few days.

@Readytostartagain I think you can do the Christmas 1 lb, I have the faith and just think how amazing and delighted you'll be 😁 start as you mean to go on.

@triplecheeese I'm so impressed with the park run, it must feel amazing when it's done. You are doing so well this month and I think your monthly goal will be met.

@TalkToTheHand123 I hardly ever drink alcohol and I think this helps. Wish I could say the same for anything sweet, I'd have this weight loss done and dusted if I could take my sweet tooth out (maybe a trip to the dentist 🤣).

The wagon rolls on and picks up all strays.

@BeyondMyWits same! Done them all and end up frustrated with eating same thing all the time or cooking different meals....going with the everything in moderation now too....hoping for a loss a week, whatever that loss may be!

poorpaws · 23/07/2022 15:17

Great excitement!

I've found him, this is him, this is ... Will Power

He might not look much but he works hard to help people, he's fabulous.

Cling on to Will everyone and we'll be reaching targets and slim in no time at all.

Holding on tight! By a thread!!

TalkToTheHand123 · 24/07/2022 07:06

I lasted half a day calorie counting.

Touch wood, it feels a bit easier to resist the naughty food at the moment somehow. Although found a big bag of marshmallows which I'm rationing to be quite difficult to do. Made 4 tubs of soup to get stuck into last night.

poorpaws · 24/07/2022 13:25

@TalkToTheHand123 good job! Your soup seems to be your saviour so just keep making it, you'll get there.

@lisalou1401 hold on tight, you'll be ok.

Everyone is having home made ice cream today, DP, two sets of neighbours. It's very calorific so I might just look at it (and will still gain a pound).

I hope everyone is having a good Sunday. Nearly weigh day for some of us (most of us now I think), I'd better lose a lot or you'll hear me screaming right around the country 🥴 I've worked so hard this week.

Ooh forgot to say, non-scale victory this morning. On a dog walk and a man I see quite regularly asked if I am losing weight because he could see I am. Feels really good for someone to notice, but tbh I cant see any loss myself yet.

OP posts:
BeyondMyWits · 24/07/2022 15:30

@poorpaws ... love it when someone notices out of the blue! Feels so good.

Theredjellybean · 24/07/2022 22:54

I've weighed in today as back in London tonight and no scales at flat.
I finished week at 74.2
Not bad, loss of 1.3 kgs
I won't reach goal for July... But has huge holiday gain and half this week bben a write off.
Five weeks until next holiday and due spinal epidural injections next week so hoping to be pain free so can up exercise. Plus no big trips or events planned so going to get on with strict calorie counting and weight loss.

poorpaws · 25/07/2022 07:57

@Theredjellybean well done, you have done so well considering your holiday gain (which we all have). I'm sure you'll get down a bit more before your next holiday, we can set an August goal and try again. I think you are doing brilliantly considering the pain you must be in.

I did say I expected a big loss this week! I've concentrated so hard on weight loss and exercise. I've done 6 DVD exercises in the evening, extra long dog walks, no snacking at all, instead of a very large bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes for supper I've had one shredded wheat with skimmed milk.

The results are in, <drum roll> I've lost 5.1/4 lbs and I'm ecstatic.

Readytostartagain · 25/07/2022 08:08

Brilliant @poorpaws certainly shows that hard work pays off- you’ve inspired me to have a focused week before I’m away again next week. Well done to @Theredjellybean too. I’ll weigh in on Saturday and set an august goal then- less said about July the better for me but new day and all that

triplecheeese · 25/07/2022 08:08

@poorpaws WOWWWWWW congratulations!!! Absolutely smashing that plateau to bits! SO happy for you. Don't forget all the encouragement you give out on here, that must burn a few calories too LOL. So proud and happy for you and can't wait to see where you go next.

66.5kg this morning which is a lovely 10st 7 so good news from these scales too!

BeyondMyWits · 25/07/2022 08:28

WOW! Well done everyone, so nice to see so many upbeat posts and great losses!

I am down to just under 15st11... my usual "just about a pound".... was up and down all week, got unnervingly close to the Sixteen again, so doubled down... phew...

Theredjellybean · 25/07/2022 08:38

@poorpaws fantastic effort.... Well done indeed.
Another good week ahead for all of us...

Theredjellybean · 25/07/2022 08:40

I feel August will be a good focused month for everyone...
So much support from this thread.. Thank you all!!

poorpaws · 25/07/2022 09:00

Thank you everyone. I should have added the week before I gained something like 3 lbs so it's not quite as amazing as it sounds but I was so determined to get that off and more and I never once took my eye off the ball (even watching DP devour my homemade caramel ice cream).

@Readytostartagain I'm so pleased I've been some sort of inspiration for you, let's all try for an amazing August, it's hard but so worth it when it's done.

@triplecheeese you've made your July goal a week early, wow! That is just so inspiring and I'm going to try to work at it now through the end of July and the whole of August. Very well done you, only half a stone and you've made it!!!

@BeyondMyWits No sixteen for you girl, you've passed that and won't go back. Very well done, you're doing absolutely great.

@Theredjellybean I feel August will be great for all of us too. Atm I have oodles of oomph, enough to give some away and Will Power seems to be holding my hand. It's easier in summer I think, just keep on trying.

Well done everyone, this thread is really upbeat this morning, we are doing so well. Thank you all for staying with me, I could not do this without every one of you.

endlesswashing · 25/07/2022 13:56

@poorpaws @BeyondMyWits @Theredjellybean @triplecheeese Well done to you all 👏

Hoping will (power) holds my hand and helps me through the end of July.

I've already got a goal in mind for August.

lisalou1401 · 25/07/2022 14:16

@poorpaws that is amazing!!!! Well done you!! And everyone else, this post has so much positivity today!

Well I have fallen off it again....I don't know what's wrong with me, it's all I think about is losing weight but can I do anything about it for more than 2 days? No...this used to be so much easier, I wish I could just be happy and accept my lockdown weight gain! I've 2-3st to lose and can't even lose 2-3lbs 😂😂

BeyondMyWits · 25/07/2022 14:19

One pound to go to meet my July target...

that should not be too hard as I've got my cardiology review on Thursday... blood pressure, blood tests and... gulp... weight check... nothing like the threat of being weighed by a health care professional to provide a good old dose of oomph!

Haven't even thought about an August mini target yet!

BeyondMyWits · 25/07/2022 15:10

@lisalou1401 ... we've all been there... and revisited from time to time the mini targets really help me personally.

I think it takes us to a different mind set... I know I have 4 stone to lose and another two ... but I can't achieve that any time soon. That is so demoralising.

but I could get under 16 stone in June (I had 3lb to lose) and I did

and I will get under 100kg in July ( it was another 3lb, I have 1lb to go)...

that ticks off two landmark figures... for me... so choose your own mini targets and leave the big headline number on the back burner.

So for August .. I just had a little think and 15st 6 will be my target. I will then have lost a stone since joining the thread. Another landmark figure to aim for in my mind.

So basically, don't think about losing 2-3 stone, just about losing the next pound.

poorpaws · 25/07/2022 15:53

@lisalou1401 what has really worked for me this week is to keep moving (a bit obvious I know). I know my binge time is in the evening from 6ish to 9ish give or take an hour either side. I've already had dinner, it's a while to supper and this is when I just don't stop eating and I know it's because I get bored. Anything is fair game, chocolate, sweets, crisps, popcorn, toast, cereals, you name it.

So this week I have been busy every evening and been in a different room to where I binge. I've either been out doing an extra evening dog walk, done a dvd exercise (which I was threatening to do for months), housework (I've cleaned every room and some cupboards) anything to keep my mind off food. When it's been nice weather I've pulled a few weeds up too. I've chewed gum to keep my mouth occupied and drunk Pepsi Max.

I hope some of this information might inspire you.

@BeyondMyWits Only one pound should be easy enough, I'm sure you can do that.

I think you are approaching weight loss in a really good way and it is working. As you've said we've all been there with not doing so well (and feeling a failure), I've done more than my fair share of messing up a diet so I do get it. Atm a lot of us seem to be on an upward spiral and that is so motivating.

@endlesswashing Will will be there for you guiding you into August with Oomph behind pushing you to your goal. You are doing great but I get how easy it is to slip back. I hope we all motivate you.

OP posts:
endlesswashing · 25/07/2022 16:26

Thank you @poorpaws I need all the motivation and oomph I can get. I agree about keeping moving. I'm planning on lots of moving, cleaning, organising and a bit of decluttering during the summer holidays. It really improves my mood when I'm on top of things at home. This is the perfect opportunity to do it bit by bit so it's not too over whelming.
Diet has been good today (still got the evening to get through) and I've made a start on cleaning and organising.

lisalou1401 · 25/07/2022 17:05

@BeyondMyWits thank you...the mini goals are defo more realistic! I'm currently sitting 18st 12 which disgusts me (I am also 6ft1 so thankfully I tend to pull it off usually but for me it's still far too big). I would like to get back down to 16st minimum. I should really just concentrate on a half stone at a time

@poorpaws yes! That's one thing I am doing is making sure I get my 10k steps in. But that idea is great, keeping busy, might motivate me to empty some cupboards and clean as well!
