What do you weigh and what dress size are you?

I know there’s lots of other factors but I’m
mainly asking because I’m trying to lose weight for my friends wedding and I’m just wondering what dress size I may be by then if I keep on track.
Also I’m just curious, it’s so interesting how everyone’s bodies can be so different!

I’ll go first! I’m 5ft 7 and I weigh 11.5stone I’m a size 14.
even at my thinnest (around 9.5-10st) I don’t seem to go lower than a size 12.

obviously size doesn’t actually matter, but I’m just interested!

I'm finding this thread really interesting because I'm 5ft 7 and weighed 11.5 stone about 20 years ago and was a size 16! Has vanity sizing really made that a size 10-12 now??

This is so true.

I tried making a dress from a vintage pattern using my current size. The dress turned out so small! Would probably need a few sizes up.

Upupupintheair · 26/05/2022 21:18

5ft 6 and 11st 6. Size 10 up top and 12 on the bottom. Classic pear shape, I’m working on it!

6 months post partum, and I’m a stone down from the beginning of the year. I want to be lose another stone and a half and I’ll be happy.

BurbageBrook · 26/05/2022 21:20

5’7, 9 stone 3, and I’m a small 10 or a large 8. Think a 10 in New Look and an 8 in M&S!

LillyLeaf · 26/05/2022 21:24

I'm 5'7 and a bit and weigh 9 stone 12 ish. Size 10 on top, small waist, bit hips, bigger size 10 on the bottom. I have no muscle at the moment and feel a bit flabby though (DS is 22 months and haven't got around to any fitness yet).

Re vanity sizing, I think sizes have maybe gone up by one dress size in 20 years. More so since the 1950s, but surely it was appropriate to adjust somewhat to the size of the population? I've always been more solid and athletic build than most women were back then, and there is nothing wrong with that. If sizes hadn't adjusted, I'd have to buy men's clothes. I do sometimes as it is.

clary · 26/05/2022 22:36

I’m 5ft 6 and weigh 12 st 4 which for me is about two stone overweight. atm I wear size 14 from Marks or similar. When I weighed 10st 2 (four years ago) I was a size 10 in Boden, 8 in M&S.

SallyWD · 26/05/2022 22:41

I'm 5 ft 7 and a bit. I'm pear shaped. I weigh about 10 stone 4lbs and wear a 12 on my legs and a 10 on top.

Lasana · 26/05/2022 22:41

9 stone 3, size 8-10

JesusWeptLady · 27/05/2022 02:57

I am 5'7 and currently 11 stone. Ideal weight for me is 9 stone. I am an apple so my dress size is going to depend a lot on the style. A shirtdress say, 14-16 or Large. I hope this is helpful.
I am currently trying to lose weight so Im' more aware of the lbs than the clothes sizes.

5ft 6 and pre-kids a very small all over size 6/8. Post kids now a size 12 and I hate it! The extra weight doesn't look good on me and its all round my middle which is unhealthy.

TwinklingFairyLights · 28/05/2022 14:28

@Lovinglife45

Where's that green dress from please? Its gorgeous. Sorry for the derail!

Arnaque · 28/05/2022 14:38

This is so interesting and reassuring.
I'm 5'6 and weigh 11'6"
32e bust and am hourglass.
I'm a size 12 top and bottom in most shops although sometimes a 10 in M&S and Hush.
Would like to get down to 10'10' but lack the Will power.

Like I said reassuring because celebrities who are my height claim to weigh 120lbs and I'm always Shock

Zazdar · 28/05/2022 19:07

You don’t have to be a celebrity to be 5’6” and 120 lbs.

5'6, around 9.7 stone and size 8. I weight train so have a bit of muscle which makes me heavier I would assume.
